Telus SGH-T989D KJ3 For ICS - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

From what I understand to use the older kj3 radio the system folder (libril-qc-qmi-1.so, and libril.so files need to be removed). How exactly is this done? I have tried unzipping the kj3 radio zip file and deleting the system folder then zipping, but the new zip fales to flash with CWM.
Does anyone have a link to a Telus T989D kj3 radio zip that is compatible with ICS (stock rooted ICS upped by Mr.X)?
thanks in advance

[Q] Quick Modem Question

i installed the Ec05 modem, but i used the .zip one you can flash through your phone without using ODIN. my ? is what is the difference? I have both files the one for Odin and the one that you can just flash through the phone but the modem one for odin is alot bigger in size? would this matter? is the one for odin better? thanks
The one for Odin is the full modem.bin, and when flashing through Odin, it doesn't matter what your existing modem version is. This is about 16MB.
The zip file you can flash through CWM is more like a patch, it contains a modem_delta file which contains the information to update a specific version of the modem to another. This is why this is only available for certain versions, for which there are 'official' update.zip files, because it requires the special delta file provided by Samsung/Sprint. Depending on the differences in the modem versions, this 'delta' file can be as small as 24KB (in the case of the EB13 to EC05 update).

[Q] Flashing Radios

Today I rooted and rom'ed for the first time ever. Using AOKP milestone 4.
I'm thinking about flashing some radios, currently on cdma/lte 4.0.2. I have zip files for 4.0.2, 4.0.3 and 4.0.4. Can you just copy the zip files to the phone and flash, or do you extract the .img files?
The 4.0.2 and 4.0.3 files come with a bootloader and 4.0.4 doesn't, is it necessary to flash the bootloader? and can I mix the .img files, say a 4.0.3 cdma and a 4.0.4 lte?
Most of the zip files are flashable through CWM but i note sure how is ur zip files look like.. So i think u better head over http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405345 and find the CWM version and flash it. Of course u need to copy the zip file to ur phone root folder first...

Modems for Telus and Bell

I have a Virgin (Bell) S3 running on Koodo (Telus). I would like to check and see if the modems are indeed exactly the same by doing a binary compare of the 2 modem files. I know the firmware version is the same, but I want to check the modems.
I have been unable to locate the modems for these: I do have a ZIP file for each of the stock ROMS (Bell and Telus) but I would like to flash only the modems, and not flash the full ROM do to my testing.
If anyone can direct me to where I can download these files (or explain how to extract them in flashable format from the stock ROMS), I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

[Q] request: just the t889 modem odin flash file - non cwm versions

In order to save my phone, I need the modem flash for file t889 that can be used with Odin and not CWM. Please advise.
Unzip CWM version , you will have Zimage ( Odin file). If I'm not wrong.

thanks for the suggestion. However, in the zip file there's the modem.bin, and the flash_image file and a folder with other stuff. I am uncertain which one to extract. (yes, I am googling this as I ask.)
the modem.bin file is the one you need. would you mind posting a link to the CWM zip you have of the modem? been looking for it..
My experience with Odin and modem cross-flashing is that is fails before writing anything. (T889-LJ1 on T889, T889V-LJ4 on T889V and so on should work. Other partitions made with this method work flawlessly, so I'm guessing there's an additional check in the bootloader for modem images.)
Anyway, here goes. Those files were made by extracting from their respective Odin images, from Sammobile and tarring with the Cygwin tar binary.

[Q] I317MVLALJ2 modem to I317MVLUCMK5

I'm currently running Jedi-X6 PORT (4.1.2) ROM on my Rogers I317M Note 2 with I317MVLALJ2 modem.
Modem from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987541
How do I install this modem? I317MVLUCMK5 Modem.zip
Via CWM recovery? Odin?
Will I lose anything installing a new modem?
Thanks.
Zip files = recovery tar files = odin. Caveat: is it a zipped file for Internet transportation?
Flashing a modem doesn't affect your operating system.

Thank you. I extracted it and there's no .tar inside. So recovery it is.
Perfect. Just make sure you check your APN settings after you flash, then reboot.

Easiest way if you have rooted your device, is to install TWRP (better than CWM) and just install the modem. Make sure you select install from TWRP and select the whole zip file (not the bin file). HTH.
