[Q] Quick Modem Question - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i installed the Ec05 modem, but i used the .zip one you can flash through your phone without using ODIN. my ? is what is the difference? I have both files the one for Odin and the one that you can just flash through the phone but the modem one for odin is alot bigger in size? would this matter? is the one for odin better? thanks

The one for Odin is the full modem.bin, and when flashing through Odin, it doesn't matter what your existing modem version is. This is about 16MB.
The zip file you can flash through CWM is more like a patch, it contains a modem_delta file which contains the information to update a specific version of the modem to another. This is why this is only available for certain versions, for which there are 'official' update.zip files, because it requires the special delta file provided by Samsung/Sprint. Depending on the differences in the modem versions, this 'delta' file can be as small as 24KB (in the case of the EB13 to EC05 update).

[Q] request: just the t889 modem odin flash file - non cwm versions

In order to save my phone, I need the modem flash for file t889 that can be used with Odin and not CWM. Please advise.
Unzip CWM version , you will have Zimage ( Odin file). If I'm not wrong.

thanks for the suggestion. However, in the zip file there's the modem.bin, and the flash_image file and a folder with other stuff. I am uncertain which one to extract. (yes, I am googling this as I ask.)
the modem.bin file is the one you need. would you mind posting a link to the CWM zip you have of the modem? been looking for it..
My experience with Odin and modem cross-flashing is that is fails before writing anything. (T889-LJ1 on T889, T889V-LJ4 on T889V and so on should work. Other partitions made with this method work flawlessly, so I'm guessing there's an additional check in the bootloader for modem images.)
Anyway, here goes. Those files were made by extracting from their respective Odin images, from Sammobile and tarring with the Cygwin tar binary.

[Q] Creating ODIN Flashable Packages for SM-T900

I have the latest full stock base for the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 Wifi (SM-T900) and want to make a bootloader package that can be flashed in ODIN.
Inside of the full stock tar file is:
boot.img
recovery. img
system. img
cache.img
hidden.img
sboot.bin
Which is the bootloader, and what do I need to do to the file, if anything, so that it can be flashed individually in ODIN? Also, should there be a modem file? Alternatively, is it possible to create a zip of these things (bootloader, modem) that's flashable in TWRP?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not quite sure which one is bootloader. Sometimes you can't flash each one individual ly with odin(ex like creating an odin tar that just has system). Modem files are only on lte devices. Most times you don't need them for custom roms. Anyway, you can extract each IMG and create and tar the IMG up. There are a few commands and guides to tar something and add md5 to them.
As for a flash able zip yes and no. Bootloader can't be flashed in twrp most times since I have never seen anything like that. You usually have to flash bootloader with odin. Modems don't need to be flashed since twrp doesn't mess with it most times. But you can create an flash able zip of kernel, recovery and I'm unsure of system.img(may need to extract or adjust updater scipt. Though I dont fully know).
Usually the twrp flashable in ArchiKitchen so it can help with the updater scipt stuffs. Just don't add any options such as root and busybox to it. I've never seen a flashable bootloader in twrp so it's highly unlikely of it being possible.
Hope this helps!

Hi
The bootloader tar package for flashing in ODIN:
1) boot.img
2) sboot.bin
Use 'Total Commander' (google it) to make tar package (bootloader).
Any luck with the port?

[Q] Modem update

Does the new 2.18 firmware come with a modem update? If so, what exactly is the modem firmware file called when I unzip the whole package? And I assume, just by flashing system.img we wouldn't get the modem updated, correct?

[Modem][Odin] baseband upgrade/downgrade

Hello, I was wondering if exist somewhere a collection of images to flash modem partition. Searching through the forum or sammobile I've found only full stock rom...
Edit: in my case I'm interested in (P605) LTE version...
Not sure if there is a collection of ready to flash images, but you could always extract the modem.bin from the full stock firmware, create an Odin .tar, and flash.

Now it just says firmware upgrade issue. Use recoverymode in kies. I tried but it says my phone is not supported. Now I keep on trying to install ota firmware updates but they keep failing. Please help get my phone up and running asap
Also telling me there is no pit binary
Go here to grab the zip file. Unzip and odin the tar file to bring your phone back.

For future reference. When this happens and Odin fails to flash official software you first need to make sure you odin the same software version that is currently running on your phone. If that fails then you can flash the stock unrooted kernel that matches your current software. Another tip, major software update's tar packages will include a sprint pit file. So if you are stuck and unable to flash the stock software with odin then try the first things I mentioned first and if that fails then odin an official rom tar that includes the sprint pit file. (incremental monthly security patches usually do not contain a pit file. Only the first release of a major update will include a pit) The tar packages do check the current kernel so that's the first thing you want to get back to stock when odin fails to flash stock software. I posted this for reference incase others have this problem in the future.
