Hard case vs. Soft case
All of them are hard cases
These are the things that I can compare before I purchase a case. I'm more into Case Mate Barely there because I had a good experience from my old phone, but I'm into Ultra Thin Air as well because of the price. I haven't made decision yet, but you can simply reply your reviews on any of cases above, or use it when you need to choose one of them.
you left a very popular one out around here that's cheaper than all of those... the Rock case. added grip over those as well. and it comes in at least 4 diff colors that i know of...

very true. but some of us never drop phones. i'm one of those people
i typically look for a case that will at least protect the backside of the phone. anything else is just extra.

haha mee too! I never drop my phone and my phone needs to be slim! I know hard cases never give much protection, but the reason i'm using them is that they feel nice just like touching my phone naked. Some people might just care more about the design while xda people are more interested in protection!

My vote goes to the ROCK quicksand!
I purchased the dark grey and light grey and they feel great. Zero bulk added

Ah yes you never "drop your phone" when you are thinking about it.. but then when you do with that thin case and if it lands wrong your screwed.
I hope you guys don't get that unlucky but I won't take my chances with mine
Im waiting for this.

I've got the Rearth Slim Lite on mine, and it's been working great. Thin enough, and a good "soft" grip feel to the back. And if offers the corner protection I like - the only drops I ever had with my SGSII were when it slipped out of my pocket and hit on a corner...hasn't happened yet . And it fits on both the Samsung dock and the cheaper dock I got on Amazon with the case on - BONUS!
For 10 bucks you can beat this. Looks very much the same as SPIGEN SGP only with some texture

... Knock on wood...
I got the Rearth Slim Lite for my wife and I and it is really nice it fit like a glove and to my surprise it is so slim that it hardly add any bulk to the phone. For those of you with skinny jeans it will be perfect LOL. On the real I will recommend this to anybody who is Not clumsy or have toddler at home because I think the case will only protect from mild drops but will not survive a toddler attack. Hope that helps.

+1 - I've got the red one and it's pretty decent. I went through a ton of cases on my Captivate and my SGS II before (most recent was the Incipio Feather) and this bad boy holds up just as well. Mine came with a screen protector as well - and the most important thing is it came in red, which a lot of vendors seem allergic to (although they have a ton of pastels for some damn reason....).

This is the thinnest case i've seen. just ordered it, i know it will not prevent damage from a fall but i have never drop my phone (i know it will happen eventually). i care more about scratches. I tried the full body xtremeguard and was disapointed since the edges in the back were like cutting knife to my fingers. Also the xtremeguard screen protector was a let down since it creat a rainbow like pixel and take away screen clarity.

my girlfriend dropped her phone about 3-4 feet onto tile floor.
Barely there case actually saved smashing the screen
If you don't care about drop protection and just about scratches to the back, why not just order and keep a battery back cover replacement handy to swap in when it gets scratched? ANY case is going to add some minor thickness since it's overlaying the actual back cover, but if you just swap the back cover then you have a new look w/o the added case thickness.
My only problem is the phones I've had always seem to get worn the most on the outside edges. So I just got a replacement back and looking for a bumper-like attachment to protect the outside edges of the phone and maybe give a small lip so the screen is elevated when the phone is placed/lands face down.

Hi,
I'm waiting for my Samsung Galaxy S II to arrive in the mail that I just bought on Ebay for $770 CAD. I was wondering what were the best cases available that won't detract from the phone's, 'sexyness'. Here are a few cases I thought looked nice on Ebay:
Barely There Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...00292&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2449wt_1115
Leather 'Wallet' Case:

Mesh Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Samsung-Genuine-...Accessories&hash=item2a119b4aec#ht_4050wt_957
Does anyone know what would be the best case for what I'm looking for? I'm focused on quality and looks rather than the price.
UPDATE: I just read the thread rules that stated "no advertising of any kind". Please note that I am not advertising these products. I am only posting them here for comparative purposes, with no intention to sell any products.
UPDATE 2: I bought the "barely there TOUGH" case. It was a little more expensive than the average case (I think it's going for 30 on ebay as of dec 16) but let me tell you, it is probably the only case you'll ever need for this phone. It feels like my phone is wearing a badass suit while still lookin fresh. Buy this case. You'll love it.

barely there and mesh case are similar..both are slim ,light.. both look perfect..
mesh case has holes that might help on heat transfer from the phone, and can be removed much easier than the barely there case..
both do not cover top and bottom of the phone(barely there protects about 0.5cm more)..
in terms of the two in my opinion mesh case is better,,
the other case protects much more..but makes your phone extra large..
its a matter of personal taste
I like the mesh case, but I doubt these cases will protect the phone from any falls. I really like the Rearth case, and the mesh case. I'm waiting now for a Case-Mate Pop case I'm going to review, which will be out in august or september as I was told from CM. The best thin cases? I really REALLY like the Rearth case. I reviewed it just yesterday, check out my sig for that. The Mesh case, which I also own, are very good, and leave the phone all sexy ... The CM cases, I don't like the barely there case series. I don't know why. It makes it look too plain.
ive got the mesh case in black look great on the phone and as already stated really easy to take on and off but it does collect dust and dirty under it like a magnet. plus probably not much protection if dropped
I've got the casemate tough n it is nice, stops dust n grease, would defiantly protect from a fall. However the phone gets stupidly hot n stays hot for ages. Just ordered a mesh case to see how that goes

I have the samsung mesh in white and it collected dust under it like nobodys business! It looks sooo sexy though! Solution? I ordered a Zagg maximum protection and installed it on the back and sides... Like stated before, the case is so easy to put on it wrapped right around it perfect and you cant even tell its there. So i am totally protected (from scratches) and still look sexy and slim.

Don't care for the mesh case... tops and bottoms are completely exposed.
I'm using the SGP Ultra Capsule in Soul Black, fantastic case.
I'm waiting for this case to be back in stock: http://www.senacases.com/samsung-cases/galaxy-s-2/ultraslim/
I love how thin this phone is and I dont want to ruin it with something bulky.

Could someone please recommend a good slip-in pouch for the GS2?
I don't feel comfortable with the hard plastic cases, as they tend to harm the phone body after sometime..

Thanks guys,
I think the Ottercase looks the best so far, as it seems to have the most protection. My only concern is that it may make the phone look too bulky.
Any experience with these cases?

I've got both the Casemate barely there and the genuine mesh case (black with italic S character).
Both are thin, lightweight and adds a better grip without making it difficult to put the phone in and out of your pocket (I use tight pants ). In fact they are very similar, but the barely there has a bit more matte color, and is a tad more gray when compared to the completely black mesh case. Also the mesh case feels a tad better in the hand, and is easier to take on and off (it still sits firmly on the phone).
As you are talking about keeping the sexiness of the phone, I would recommend the mesh case But they both are good, so you won't be disappointed either way.

Thanks for your input Hrti!
I heard a few other people saying that the mesh case doesn't quite cover the whole entire phone. And while the 'sexyness' is a huge factor, I am more concerned about keeping the phone completely protected. Cuz I'd be devastated if anything ever happened to my baby. lol.
Keep the suggestions coming!

Got mesh case, now back using the case mate tough. Not sure what the mesh cases point is, top n bottom completely exposed, its a dust magnet. My phone dropped from the arm of the sofa and it came clean off. I suppose it does look nice but if that's the main concern and you're not bothered about the non protection it provides you may as well not have a case. That's just my opinion anyway

Thanks for writing that - I dropped my phone last night indoors on a carpet, and I've always used the mesh case - but it popped straight off and the phone and the case were about a meter apart when they settled.... (phone was fine btw). It got me thinking if I dropped that on concrete or something it'd be pretty badly damaged!
Was looking at the case mate tough - and it's not till I just read your post now that it's convinced me to get one!
So.. I have tried my very best to search if anyone is talking about this in any other thread but can't find nothing on it.
I have the Nexus 4 version of the case and it has done me very well! Although about 10 days ago I broke it cause I always pop it on and off while bored.
The only other case that can compete with this (slimness wise) is the Slim SPIGEN Case.
I don't understand how there isnt a thread on this case nor is there any discussion on it! What gives?
What's your opinions on it? Which one would you choose out the two?
$5.99 RINGKE: http://www.amazon.com/RELEASE-PERFE...qid=1383319011&sr=1-2&keywords=ringke+nexus+5
$ 9.99 SPIGEN: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EV8Y50S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Personally I'm going towards the Ringke case... its cheaper, thinner and looks a little better.
Maybe I'll be swayed towards the Spegen case from you guys!
EDIT/ UPDATE-
Finally got both cases and two phones to compare the two side by side.
After using both of them for a little bit I have decided the Ringke is the better case.
Reasons: Slimmer, covers the phone more, does not have an air gap on the back (you can press the SPIGEN on the back and it will move)
I had to sand both of them down to get rid of the ruff parts.
These super thin cases are way less popular (especially with the younger crowd) than the flashy "hybrid-like" cases that offer more protection and bling. This was the case with the GS4 as well (take a look at those forums).
I personally love the uber thin cases that offer only scratch resistance (and maybe a little drop-proof-ability) but are like having nothing on the phone and not adding to it's bulk. I have the Ringke slim for my GS4 and on the delivery truck a Ringke slim in transit for my N5.
I was very disappointed with the Spigen neo-hybrid for the GS4 and sold it immediately.
The Ringke slim on the other hand is super solid and more professional looking (if you want to call it that ).
I'm sure the Spigen Ultra Fit (Slim) would be very comparable to the Ringke, it looks almost identical in pics and specs
Glad someone brought this up too. I was looking at these two as well and this is something funny i noticed.
the size comparisons between the two are not consistent. SPIGEN reports a .3mm thicker phone but otherwise its the same size.
I'm leaning toward the RINGKE as well. cheaper if i ordered two of those with shipping than to order 2 of the Spigen and get something else for 1.02$ to hit the free shipping mark at 25.

Why exactly were you disappointed with the Neo Hybrid for S4? I had my eyes on the Champagne Gold Neo Hybrid for N5.
I'm personally not a fan of the Slim series as it doesn't offer protection for the top and bottom of the device. Whereas, the Galaxy Nexus Slim it covered the whole phone 360 and kept its slim factor.

I totally understand about the protection the slim series cases don't offer. It's all about preference indeed.
That said, I didn't like the neo-hybrid because it felt like a gimmick (if that makes sense). In other words it felt and looked like they made a case to just look "cool" rather than making a case to form fit a phone. It does offer more protection than the slim fit cases though. It was also too "square" looking for me once on the phone. Made the GS4 look iPhone-ish to my eyes.
Funny thing though....I sold it to my 17 yr old nephew (well it was free but he paid shipping) and he thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread. :good:

I like the slimness but the top/bottom exposed is a no-no for me. I really wonder why they decided to go with that design. This is the Galaxy Nexus Slim I was referring to http://www.rearthusa.com/sprint_verizon_galaxy_nexus_slim.html slim factor and top/bottom protected.
Hmm, I guess that is true with the Champagne Gold. I just like the mixture between the two colors. So more or less its just aesthetics/appearances on your part but nothing of the case. I was just reading that the older versions of it have had peoples' outer part of the case to crack. Which was the same case for me when I had the official LG bumper for N4 so that was definitely worrisome.
Haha, I think its a pretty neat case too. Looks nice.

Yup, ya never know when the N5 might take a tumble to the pavement and land on the top/bottom or the screen (ouch)!
Oh I think the neo-hybrid looks great in a picture that's why I ordered it. On my GS4 was a different story. The plastic piece on mine felt like it would break very easily, but I don't know which version I had.
Go for it get what ya want. You can always return it and they're so cheap nowadays you don't really miss out on much by doing so

They're so cheap that its not even worth sending it back with the shipping fee.. plus I'm lazy Neo Hybrid is actually ~$19.99 as of right now.
Can't wait for the accessory party to finally begin and a bunch of nexus 5 videos of accessory unboxing/reviews to appear. It will make our jobs a lot easier.
Its kind of funny seeing Rearth and Spigen practically offer the same case and design and names. Slim/Hybrid, what is up with that anyway?

I thought about that too when I first ordered the Ringke slim. To my delight there is not one scratch on my GS4 (had since launch) caused from the case and I've taken it on and off over a dozen times.
Edit: I will say however, that the case is tough to get off! It's snaps on easily and extremely secure
I like to wash them every week
Yeah I had one on my N4 and went to take it off (like to get the lint off every once and a while) and it scuffed one of the corners. Most people wouldn't notice but it threw my ocd into over drive aft err that lol.

Yeah exactly why I stopped using cases. I never liked cases, prefer naked. But got the slim ringke for my gnex a couple years ago. Loved the slimness but ended up scratching my phone.
I pop my case on and off all the time and it has never scratched my N4. Maybe its just the N4 that doesn't scratch.
The reason I like these slim cases is because it does add much bulk and it keeps the design of the phone some what. I'm the kind of person that has never dropped their phone on a hard surface. Worst surface iv dropped it on is carpet which was from my lap.
I'm thinking of buying both now cause I can't make my mind up at all!

Lol I was a accessory crazy guy in N4. Trying to make my first purchase the most satisfied one and stick with it im leaning towards the Neo Hybrid
Had a ringke slim on both my s3 and s4. Have one on order for the n5 as well.
Really like the s4 case but certainly not for someone that drops their phone all the time.

just ordered the spigen ultra fit soft matte white for my black nexus 5
i hate cases. so much attention and value is dedicated to the aesthetics and build quality of a phone only to be covered up by an uglier case. my gf has an iphone, a really beautiful phone, and she covers it up with the most hideous otterbox. in her case it is warranted because she is a clutz, but it bothers me every time i see it. i liken it to buying a really nice sports car and then covering it up in foam to drive around.
BUT... i've had my current phone for 1.5 years and i remember the feeling when i dropped it the first day i bought it... it felt bad. only a small scratch but i swear i stared at that scratch and rubbed my finger over it so many times the first week in regret. hopefully this case will be minimal enough and good feeling enough so that i will keep it on my phone. but i'm predicting i'll keep it on for about 2 weeks before i decide i just want my phone beautiful and nude.
why spigen over ringke? well first off i wanted matte and second off ringke advertises "world's thinnest case" and then proves it with a picture of a nexus 5 with the wrong thickness measurement. so i had to dock them for semi false advertising.
the spigen and ringke were both $10 for me with shipping and handling included.
Has anyone bought a Ringke Slim case from Rearth and actually recieved their Nexus 5 yet?
How does it fit? Any comments/reviews would be fun to hear. I'm still waiting for both to arrive.
Finally a case with a kickstand.

Amen! Mine should arrive next week!
That is one ugly case and does not look comfortable to hold at all.
I had one for the note 3. It really wasn't that bad.

If only they didn't have a stand, I would totally get it. I want a fully rugged case that doesn't feel tacky and about to fall apart like the TUDIA Dual.
Fugly case, it's a shame spigen refused to step up and produce a case.

Seriously.. I'm mad at them.
Or their ultra crystal screen protector. I love those.

Ugly or not I'm looking for more protection and I have one of these on the way. I'll take some good pics for you guys when it comes. I got the red version.
Update: case came this morning. It's not as ugly as I thought, but it is a tad thick where the kickstand is. Good protection.. Better than my Ringke fusion and Tudia. I'm at work right now but will get some pics taken and posted later.
I agree. Who cares what it looks like: function > form. Let me know how it works out I may purchase one also.
Thanks
Ok here's the pics. I'm not happy with them but hopefully they will be good enough for you guys. I took them at work in a real hurry before my boss could appear and say "wtf are you doing?"
A few quick notes about the case:
-Good protection, higher edges around screen than my other cases.
-Power button feels pretty good but volume buttons are stiff and a bit mushy.
-Holes for the phone ports are of ample size.
-Case feels ok in my pocket but the thickness of the kickstand area IS noticeable even though I always have the screen side against my thigh.
-The kickstand is actually my first on any phone or tablet. It "locks" in the closed position with a snap. When trying to pull it out, it feels like it will break before it "snaps free" and folds out. Maybe it will, maybe it wont... I didn't buy the case for the kickstand anyway so I'm not worried about it.

Can you take a pic of the phone out of the case next to the case from the side, id like to see how thick it is compared to the phone.
Just ordered the white version, will come on standard shipping for around 7 days, no biggie while I wait for my TUDIA to arrive.

I had one of these on the RAZR i.
Not bad cases, can pop the rubber bit off and use just the hard shell.
Best hard cover Frosted Matte
Sended from china, 4 weeks wait, but very very good material !!

I don‘t think that manufacturers like spigen or otterbox will ever make cases for the opo they support devices that have more buyers like samsung or apple, anyway the most protective cases for opo are jkase diablo, diztronic ultra and tudia slimfit which do you prefer?
Awesome review.

that has got to be the best backhanded compliment i have ever heard. "wasn't that bad" I mean that is awesome. It's like saying, "well, the amputation went pretty well. He won't miss the limb at all."
I say this NOT sarcastically at all. I almost spit out what I was drinking because I was laughing so hard when I read this.

Diztronic, hands down.
you might consider Tudia Ultra tough, but it's bulky.
What about flip case? Does anyone have any experience with good brands?
I'm looking for something like this:

I didn't like that one. I ordered this one: http://m.ebay.com/itm/181532810218?_mwBanner=1
And the screen protector: http://m.ebay.com/itm/271845140819?_mwBanner=1
I got this yesterday in mail (black and white colour). Very happy with the quality and all the ports/mic holes perfectly centered. sturdy feel. I dropped my phone 3 times without the case (luckily not much damage at all.. just minor ding on corner) and then i thought of buying a case before it has spider web screen.

Cruzerlite Bugdroid
I have been using the Cruzerlite Bugdroid TPU case. It has a slim profile while feeling quite sturdy and able to withstand a drop. All my friends who have the OnePlus One have this case. It comes in a very very wide variety of colors, too. The only downside is that it does fade after a while, but it really isn't that bad or too noticeable. The price is very reasonable for the quality of the product. It is easy to find on Amazon.
Hope this helps.

Make sure you get the one I linked to, with the slightly bigger corners, better protection
I've had the Diztronic case for around 7 months now and it's been perfect. Protected when dropped, not too bulky, slight raised lip on screen side to protect screen when placed screen face down.
The only negative I can think of is that it does add a bit of weight to the phone, although I'm sure that is inevitable based on the protection it gives and also the sturdy nature of the material it is made from.

Exactly... you want protection? Then you're gonna feel it
Try a casemate barely there on your phone and see if it protects... makes me wanna cringe immediately
I wouldn't wanna droptest with that on, or any other "lookyoucanhardlyseeandfeelmebecauseIamsothin" case
if you like TOTAL protection i recommend TWO cases TUDIA OMNIX and POETIC. i have the TO and my experience to it is that the covers of the audio and charger ports are not good if you use them for a prolong period of time they dont go back easily i mean there is a small part of the cover that tends to stay open.
FOR POETIC, i saw reviews both Oneplus.net and amazon they say that it is much better than TO it is much thin than the TO and the ports are much better.
Another great feature about the Diztronic is the way it covers the side buttons and gives them a more sturdy feel. I got another case previously and it had cut out for the buttons, but it was a pain trying to press them as the OnePlus One's side buttons are so small.

Just received some of the Clear X-Level TPU case I found and ordered, it is .78mm with clear matte edges all around that feel great in hand.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/YNDccnTmGaIv250z1
The case is similar to the 'MNML' case in that it does not provide a lip for the screen, but it does hug the screens curves to provide a bit more protection in case of accidental drops since it is made of TPU. Dont get me wrong, it is not not a drop proof case at all, but even thin TPU material can absorb more of an impact than hard plastic, and with a good screen protector you're set. The camera is also ever so recessed enough that it wont hit flat surfaces when placed on them. The buttons are also feel great and tactile.
The only thing that may bother some, but doesn't bother me since it isnt that noticeable from afar, is that even though it has the "dot buffer" most clear tpu cases have, it still shows some "water markings" where the case meets the back glass. This is likely because of how thin the case is, and how the back glass curves and melts into the 2 XL's corners. The case will also likely yellow and scratch over time, but that is why I got a small supply lol. I'll be able to swap them out as needed since it will be my daily for a while.
(On a side note) If anyone is interested I would also be wiling to sell some of the extra I have. I know it sounds like an ad for me to sell... but I just feel I got more than I needed.. and it seems these are hard to get in the US for some reason. So if you are just let me know, id do $12 shipped, first class, US. If you want more than one Id do a deal cause of shipping as well! If I have more than one left i want to sell that is lol
I find matte finish slippery and like the cheap TPU L&K case on Amazon much better. They don't get much smaller than L&K.

It actually does. The L&K is about as thick as the Ringke Bevel. I had the "Pleson" version of it (theyre both the same just rebranded) and that is how thick it felt. The X-Level is .78mm thin.

eBay got the hook-up: https://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Level-Pu...-Slim-Armor-Clear-Soft-TPU-Cover/222698641914
It took 23 days to reach me in Los Angeles from China.
Just got mine yesterday and I love it. I've been on the hunt for a good clear case to show off the phone. I first had the Spigen Liquid Crystal but it added a bit too much bulk for my liking. This one is just thick enough to protect the rear camera lens when the device is resting face-up. My only complaints are that:
1. there is no lip to protect the screen if I want to set the phone face-down (seems to be common amongst slim cases), and
2. the cut-outs are a bit sharp from being unfinished (though really this is not a big deal for me).
The fingerprint reader cut-out is a bit off-center but at a glance it isn't noticeable for me.
Unfortunately after some time (2 weeks) case has weird bluish discoloration.
I'm assuming this came from holding my phone in pocket (jeans).
I have also Ringke clear case and same story, same discoloration.
been using this for more than half year, same as other tpu case, it will turn yellow as time goes by.
