new rom as in custom rom? because if you flash a custom rom, you will then need to flash the boot.img that comes within the zip aswell! that is the kernel. and you will then not have problems with it

Sir, I was able to flash infected2.5.2 in my SGY which is running a DXKK4..
Works very nice for my SGY.
i already flashed my phone. Wi-fi is not working. Is it because of my build number DXKJ3?

I am not sure about it Sir.. Try to flash a KL2. Then Flash infectedROM. But for me it runs with no issues at all on a Kk4.

Same as my previous time used InfectedROM, try to flash it first with ODIN 1.84 or 1.85 to DXKL2 by Doky73
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465800
(to get same version with Infected ROM FW built) then flash recently version of InfectedROM with CWM SKIN/madteam. My SGY now work perfectly in Wi-Fi and Internet.
Good Luck..

S-On is a security feuture that HTC implemented to allow people to find their lost or stolen phone online. It is S-on by default and they(the awesome people on xda) are still working on a s-off solution.
You can still flash roms with S-on but you need your bootloader unlocked(Every One X has a locked bootloader). There is a noob friendly guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355 on how to do so.
The best rom will depend on your own taste. The sense roms are the least buggy and because they have source code for that. Roms like Charmelean, Leedroid, ARHD and so on. You'll see they are sense roms.
On your nr.5, everything you need to know is on the link 2 paragraphs up.
Hope you manage and wellcome to xda and one X, you'll love it here.

Dude!!! S-off or s-on has absolutely nothing to do with finding your phone! Stop bsing. It's a security feature that HTC implemented to lock certain parts of the system. If you have s-off it means full root.

GetRil doesn't actually change the radio. It let's you download the RIL file that is most compatible with your existing radio.

Thanks am a noob knew it was good for checking baseband compatibility but only used to check mine as had baseband incompatibility issues with 4.2, was handy to check after reflash to make sure it was ok, still lots to learn so appreciate this kind of feedback. Will now do more research about ril files.
Am attempting to learn the basics of android programming coming from having zero computer literacy, wish me luck lol and thanks to xda and mskips for inspiring me to learn more.

To root or not to root

Here is the story for the past 4 four i owned 2 android devices, the galaxy ace and the galaxy nexus both of wich had easy rooting.and flashing, but on this device the flashing is a bit harder. So is it worth it to root ?
Sent from my HTC One X
Yes it is.
Yes it is.
I bought my One X as a replacement for my Arc thinking I wouldn't need to mod it in anyway and run it as stock, due to the Mrs giving me grief about the amount of time I spent flashing/modding my arc. Resisted rooting for 5 hours and haven't looked back. Worth rooting even just for an ad-free device.
One of the first things I do is root and remove bloatware. Well worth it.
Do it well worth it. Btw I think we all get the grief from the missus about our close relationships with our phones and modding lol

Use this to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439
Before you root, make a backup in recovery, when you wanna go back to stock you just need to restore it. It's advisable to copy the backup to your pc for maximum security. (It's in /sdcard/clockworkmod) If you wanna do ota, remember to flash back stock recovery also.

No prob
It is possible that you lose some stuff.
First of all, dl an app called carbon. It will let you backup your apps without root. If you wanna back up sms, etc. There's an app for that, just search.
Then connect your hox to a pc and copy ALL the files from your sdcard to your pc.
Now you should be safe to continue.
I never lost anything when rooting but better be safe than sorry.

What do you expect it to read? HTC official kernel?
3.1.10 is the Linux kernel version it is based on
g9fb8f80 is some crap I know nothing about
abm030 is the username who compiled the kernel
root means he was a root user during that session
#1 means that it was the first build
smp stands for Symmetric Multi-Processors
preempt stands for PREEMPtable
The kernel is totally stock don't worry :good:

[Q] Patched Modem for 4.4.2

Hi, I comment my problem ...
A while ago, I was on 4.1.2, and due to update failure (mea culpa) I kept my real IMEI but I already know ... "Emergency Calls Only" and "Not registered on network" Typically . I solved it with Ariza Patch, and nothing, everything went well until the release of official 4.3.
When 4.3 came out for our device, I wanted to put it, but it looked impossible because of Ariza Patch, which is not available in 4.3, after much time searching, managed to find a modem and a kernel patch that made it work perfect, then I I decided to place it on your 4.3 and the patched kernel and modem, and ... Voilà, perfect, running at 4.3 with that modem and kernel.
But the problem is now, when they come out different ROM based on 4.4.2, when trying to install, I am in the same situation as at the beginning. I have my real IMEI but "emergency calls only" and "not registered on the network".
Curiously, I am the company Tuenti, and when the phone works, Status> Network goes I'm Tuenti, but when I get the "No registered on the network" and other paraphernalia goes I'm in the "Movistar" network which is true because Tuenti uses Movistar network, but now does not work ...
Any idea, experience or divine illumination?
Thank you very much!
PD: Sorry for my bad English...
Any ideas please?
