Svoice..S memo..allshare.... - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps (US Carriers)

Just wondering if any of you actually use any of those "other" apps that came on the phone and if so for what? I have them all removed and im just wondering if Im missing out on something. Like Im not using the phone to its fullest.

I'm trying to find apk for Samsung apps that was on the phone. Removed them . Found out about Samsung dive. Need to put app back on so I can usr it. It's a anti-theft thing and it's free. Can't add my phone because I can't register through the app. Nit sure if allshare is what caused my phone to do this but I was going through phone pics I took. Had a computer screen icon with arrows. Clicked it and popped up on my tv through my denon avr that's hooked up to my router.
More and more in finding out some apps I gave no chance or looked at I'm starting to use. Still don't get the hype about smemo thought.
Edit.. just found out none of the versions have Samsung dive or support in the general section. Bah

allshare led me to sugar sync which lets you sync files without a connection directly to the PC. i use S Memo for notes...
S voice is crap. extremely terrible.

I basically just use S Memo for notes on the time I have to go to work, or other little things like links.

Smemo can b used as a clipboard...

Removing Vlingo Voice Talk

Man, this thing is so annoying. I have a habit of double-tapping the home button to get to my desktop and I suppose the new function goes to Voice Talk. I don't want it to go there and I can't remove/remap it. Any clue on how to get rid of it?
yah thats in settings, go to motions in settings and uncheck double tap! that should fix it
You'll have to wait till our phones get rooted to completely remove any stock apps.

That does not fix it for me, I have all motion turned off, and still get the vlingo terms of service when I double tap home. Which I then decline every time. Very Annoying.
Same issue here. I want it to behave like Sense and display all of my homescreens (zoomed out). What does the 'home' key have to do with Voice Talk and Vlingo anyway?!
What would u like to do ???
Lol cant get it off either
Tmo Galaxy S2
Damn near a deal breaker
I like the plain voice commands from android and I'd like to do what I've been doing for the last couple of years - push the headset button, say what I want and have it just happen. I'm going to play with this a while longer but I'm going to give the phone back if it doesn't work exactly like I want. It's too much money to live with like I did the Vibrant - till the guys here made it work.
I don't mind something being no removable if there's an option to use something else. If any of you know how to change the settings so the original vlingo by Samsung isn't the automatic choice, that would be greatly appreciated.
Yep checked off double tap and it still goes into voice talk

UNinstall voice command-voice talk- voice search using titanium backup if rooted. if not rooted- see previous posts.
I prefer the vlingo app from market(which needs voice search app, also available in market).

It's been gone since the first update from when the phone was released... I don't know exactly which update, but I noticed it being gone after an OTA.
One easy way if your running ICS is to install go Launcher, open app drawer, long press voice command icon, un install, Vlingo gone! Un install go Launcher. No rooting required.
HOLY SHII
This solution that GDF01 is talking about, is not only very easy, but also very awesome! I removed Voice talk and Chat and other stuff, and i ICS-froze Readers Hub and all that stuff, so now I have a fully functional and great phone, without rooting or anything! Thanks!!

EL29 Update/Media Hub and new "Samsung Accounts" app

Ok, I purchased a few movies on Media Hub when I had my Epic. (The Godfather and Scarface..had to have them). They always worked fine on this phone. When I went to EL29, it showed Media Hub having a mandatory update. Well, the update installs an app called "Samsung Accounts" and it made my paid Media Hub movies show unpaid. I spent hours on the phone with Sprint, then tech support, then Samsung and couldn't even get a credit for movies. I restored my EL26 nandroid and...they work fine. I even froze market updater on EL29 and it didn't work. Hopefully others don't have this experience but if you do, please call and complain! I paid $10 a movie!

I never used the app because I never got my 50 dollar credit for buying the og epic over priced

Well, it failed on EL26 now too. The update pops up in the middle of watching my paid movie then says update necessary. If you say no, it closes app...this is some B.S.!!!! At least I can get my purchase date, from EL26 before update pops,up to fight this garbage. Hope they don't figure, out Hotspot

Only thing I can think of making a backup of MediaHub without the update, install the update, open the MediaHub apk, find the config or similar file, find a Version variable or something to the like of that, copy it and paste it somewhere. Then, revert to the pre-update MediaHub backup, open, find config, and paste the Version of the updated MediaHub there (along with any other version-defining variables. Then re-create the apk and try again.
Only thing I can think of, which is to try to trick it into thinking it's been updated. I'm an experienced programmer, but I'm now getting into Android Dev'ing, so I don't know the exact process for Android APK's.... yet!
Just a thought. Might not work since the updater might actually scan the contents of all files go see if they aren't the updated files which would force the update regardless of changing a few config values.
This is the reason I don't purchase any sort of media through my phone.
That, and nothing fills me with more dread that watching a 90 minute movie on a 4" screen with tinny sound. But that's just me... I realize others don't have such qualms.
No complaints on my Epic 4G Touch. This 4.5" AMOLED screen is the chit fool!

I had "Google Settings" app appear today also, and my internal storage has gone down from 243 to 231 mb. I can't find it with app quarantine or titanium backup either so I can uninstall or freeze it :/ Where did it come from?
It will eventually make its way to all devices. I first saw it appear on my nexus 7 this morning but not my sgs3, it wasn't until this afternoon.
Something to do with this.

This is supposed to work like the login with Facebook option on many websites it's basically so you don't have to come up with 5 billion user names and passes instead you just log in with Google plus to get onto a site. The settings thing is probably just a spot to adjust what is being used with what sites or apps.

You're joking right? Something as small as this pushing people away from the only real option as far as mobile OSs go? There's almost no going over to iOS from android and WM is still a bit of a joke. It's not even that big of a deal. All it is is an option for developers to integrate into their apps for people to sign into other stuff using their G+ account/profile/whatever you want to call it.

But if you realize, its not optional. You can't post a review using google account, unless its linked to google plus.
It's part of Google Play Services. Freeze it with TiBu and Google Settings goes away.
But, I'm sure some Google stuff won't work after that.
Though I was just able to update my Play Store apps and use Gmail with it frozen.

goodbye google+
I have no google + act, no fakebook either.
My memory is pretty good and I dont need google or fakebook deciding how i run my life or how many passwords i have.
Dont you realise that this is the number one thing anti hacking experts tell you:
Dont use just ONE pass word.
Thank god for custom roms and TBu.
Imho this is unecessary intrusion on my privacy... iknow i know its google privacy is a pipe dream, but i dont want to be forced into allowing app makers, software makers or others knowing when and where i sign in.
One big happy logging into everything family?
No thanks, and i know im not alone on this.

While I agree for the most part I prefer these generic sign ins for things like forums or 9gag where there is no private info to be gained from getting into it and having a dozen logins and passwords for sights like these is bit unnecessary. In theory I can understand the idea for sights where purchases are made as well since you are logging on to the same account for everything there aren't dozens of places that have a credit card on file. However then you get into the one login problem and other security issues as well.

I dont mind that every thing google ie: play store, gmail, youtube, etc . Is all linked; but for an app or anything else that has no relation to said parent company, thats what bugs me.
Google doesnt need to know i opened up
TiBu and cooled off most of their aps like I was Mr Freeze. Google sure as hell doesnt need to know im playing atomic bomber.
I mean whether you realize/accept it or not, you are already automatically ALWAYS logged in from the first time you turn on or FR your phone. Either that or your logging into play store every single freakin time, not to mention the whole contact thing, sync etc.
I mean really google what more do you want from us?

You can remove anything that has, to do with AT&T. Navigator, AT&T hot spot etc.
Not sure if your rooted or not. But if you are, and your going into the phone system deleting stuff. Just make sure not to delete anything that has to do with Google!
Another thing you can do without rooting. Is you can disable any app you choose to. And it will not show up in the app drawer!

I would hope on Sprint phone, there isn't anything with AT&T on it, LOL
I don't think there is a list. As the above eluded to, if you're rooted, which I assume is the case, make a backup of everything with Titanium Backup. So if you delete something you shouldn't have, you can restore without having to do a Nandroid restore; I would confirm your Nandroid backup actually works too. You may not realize till later that you delete something you shouldn't have. I've Google Play bork all of sudden days later when I tried going into it, and after removing several other items.
I haven't had issues with:
Gmail
Goolge Plus
Samsung Media Hub
Kies
Yahoo News
Yahoo Finance
VPN Client (this is waste since Android has it build in)
Voicemail
Trim
Google Talk
Sprint Zone
SNS (has a facebook icon, but don't know what it does)
Samsung Apps
Popup Browser
MyFiles
MusicFX
Music Player
Music Hub
HTML Viewer
Game Hub
Favorite Contacts
Dropbox
Allshare
any and all wallpapers
You can remove Youtube too. You'll just need to use a web browser install to access it.
Some of the apps I removed were because I use a different app to do the same function such as K9 email, Google Music and ES File Explorer. I usually remove Downloads, but keep the download manager. I believe downloads is just a shortcurt to the download directory, which can be accessed easily with the file explorer app.
I'm just usually weary of the TB listing that start with "com.". I think those are more system applications.
Beyond that, it's trial and error.
If you're unsure about something, but want to test it, you can always try freezing it in Titanium Backup as well. It'll still be there, but the will inaccessible for use on the phone till unfrozen.
Mod moved me to the sprint forum from at&t haha. Thanks for the help ive been slowly debloating this phone.
