Rock vs diztronic - Galaxy S III Accessories

My phone will be coming in the mail this week. Narrow my cases down to 2. Matte black Diztronic and black/dark grey Rock Quicksand. Which would you pick and why? prefer people with both cases chime in.
I like the look of Rock but seem like less protection.
Diztronic look ok but more protection.
Seem like with the Diztronic case, the home button will hard to get to.
Thanks in advance

Both are different cases. It depends on how much protection youre looking for.
In my opinion, the diztronic case is better. Its stylish, gives full protection and its just awesome. Thats just me, i like the matte finish and the logo. It doesnt add much bulk to the phone either. And about the home button having a hard time pressing, not at all, its easy to press not to mention the volume and power button.

just got my rock quicksand yesterday, and its beautiful, just enough protection, and rough surface which provides lot more grip, i am loving it!

I have a gray Rock case and I love it. Very low profile and good enough protection when paired with a screen protector.

I like how all the Rock users keep saying "it offers enough protection".
Uhhh, in which dimension would that be in?
It only offers protection for three of the six sides of the phone. Or otherwise, it only offers protection for HALF the phone when dropped from more than a few feet above the ground.
I do agree though. It's a great looking case and I'll probably get one.
I've had the Diztronic TPU case before on a different phone.
I always felt safe'ish with it on my phone.
Not the grippiest or most stylish case. But a good one.

I'd go Diztronic. Cheaper, better protection. Works well, well-made.

Not all protection needs to be from a fall. I've had plenty of scratches on casings due to resting my phone on rough surfaces and heavy pocket wear.

I have both and honestly, I like BOTH of them. I prefer the solid and grippy feel of the Rock, but I also prefer the wrap around protection of the Diztronic. Both feel the same in the pocket and neither adds bulk to the device. Both look nice with the slight edge to the Rock. Neither impedes button access at all.
I personally find myself using the Diztronic when I go out somewhere and am afraid I might drop it, and the Rock when the device will be sitting on my desk at work all day or on the patio on the weekends or something. The Rock is really just for scratch and bump protection.
They are cheap enough that you can get both and see which you prefer. I'm going to continue using both of them.

My vote is for the Ringke and here's why.
There is way too many comments stating that these thin cases don't offer enough protection and it's simply not true. My wife dropped my GS3 from 3-4 feet high straight on to concrete and the case protected it like a champ. It got about 5 or 6 scuffs on the front top and back but not a single scratch or damage on my phone. The case is a Case Mate Barely There but I also have a Ringke Slim which would have done just as well since it's a tad longer and higher in the corners.
Bottom line: Don't underestimate slim cases.........they offer excellent protection in a slim and attractive package.

Since i can get both for 10 bucks each, i will just get both. Instead of trying to save 10 bucks. Rinke seem very interesting.

Just do what I did and get both

I have the S3 in pebble blue, ordered the rock in dark grey and the diztronic in matte dark blue. The rock is traveling somewhere in the world, and the dizy got here today. I am quite impressed and have relegated the black incipio silicrylic I got in 2 days ago. The dark blue goes realllll well with the pebble, fit is solid, low bulk, slides in-n-out of pockets but offers grip in hand. The non matte edge on top is genius in that regard. Looking forward to the rock's arrival though, and am glad ill be able to switch back and forth. I like cases that don't detract much from original size or color yet offer better handles, definitely think these two cases are the top in that regard.

I have the matte black Diztronic. Only thing I would change is to order the matte blue one.
Provides good protection all around for a TPU case. Not going to do you any real good if dropping it on cement but will stop the battery and battery cover from flying off if you drop it on carpet or something.

Looking for thin case

Does anyone have a recommendation for a thin case or shell? I prefer something clear or with at least a clear back
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Check out the cheap TPU cases on ebay. They arent the beefiest, but if all you want is minor protection against bumps and scratches, TPU is the way to go.
Case-mate barely there is a really thin and stylish case. It's probably the thinnest and pretty much fits the phone perfectly. If you're looking for a thin phone case that will protect from "minor" drops, looks sexy and sleek, and doesn't add barely any bulk then it's the way to go.
If you're considering a seidio case, I used to use the thinnest of evo seidio cases but it turned out their quality went way down hill within past years. With their thinnest offering it scratched the top of the evo. Then they made a revision which fit nicely but the part where your volume buttons are was extremely flimsy (mine broke). Not only that but they also used a cheaper rubber material that eventually rubbed off. I understand that they had to save some money from messing up the first time but damn.
So if you're considering a thin case and don't like the case-mate then at least choose something different from the seidio one so you wont be sorely disappointed like myself. I spent like $39.99 on that piece of junk with the belt clip while the case mate was only like $10.
Thanks for the recommendations. I am going to yet the Griffin Reveal since it has a clear back

ive tried several cases...all ranges,, ringke earth has so many colors and its wicked thin...
I just got the Griffin reveal case. It fit very well and I can since it is clear I see the white back of the phone!
I also recommend the Ringke Earth cases. I would recommend the casemate barely there, but taking it off has caused scratches along the place where the case ends

Casemate Barely There hands down!!! It does not offer much if any protections from drops, but it prevents your camera lens from getting scratches from sliding the phone on the table..etc
A lot of people don't even notice that there is a case on my phone.
Agree though that I will leave scratches on the side of you phone. I also had this problem with the ID Case for the iPhone though.

Case-Mate Tough vs. Trident Aegis

Can anyone give a pretty good comparison of the two cases? I'm looking to get a nice solid case for my new E4T beyond the TPU case I have for it now.
I have this case for my iPhone 4 (work phone) and LOVE the case (I could leave the phone). http://www.amazon.com/Acase-iPhone-..._1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1324128984&sr=1-1
What are the pros and cons of each case? Right now they seem to be similar size, protection and price so I would be down to picking on appearance right now but function > form in this case.
-Lify
I can only vouch for Otterbox at the moment but they don't make a case for the Sprint GS2, which is a bummer.

I have the case mate tough case. I also have a ballsitic case . I use the case mate more because it is smaller . The ballistic case protects more but is a little bulky. best prices are on daydeal.com. They dont have the case mate tough case
I just got the tough case today.. And have been using it all day.
Seems like a sturdy enough case, feels good in the hand and doesn't have too much bulk. The rubber inner liner near the screen tends to attract dirt and stuff, but not more than any other case would do.
Has a nice textured feel all the way around. Nice and grippy, but not so much that it is impossible to take out of your pocket.
All in all, I paid 22 for out and consider it money well spent
Trying out this E4GT...
Ive got the trident aegis case in the mail so ill chime back in when I receive it.

So I've got the trident case installed.
This case is very solid. The internal silicone layer is much thicker than an otterbox's silicone. The outside plastic is also a different material than an otterbox. There is no doubt that this phone will survive a fall.
Do you want to know anything specific about this case? I can take pictures if you're interested.

I picked OTHER case. with just a few mods its an amazing case!!

AMAZING case if you like "large" protective cases like I do. Especially on such a slim phone it ends up not being overly large at least if you have large hands like I do.
I ordered 2 so I could get blue on blue. they are $10 a pop on ebay or amazon.
white red pink blue green yellow and pink are available.
it has a few very minor annoyances I was able to fix all of them. check out the pictures and the videos. Absofreakinglutely love this case.
I just ordered 2 more. one that might have an orange skin (probably red but worth $8 for the chance of orange) and another black one with a clearly ORANGE hard shell (so I can do blue on orange)
Very very nice case. I love it so far over a week of usage NO downsides found yet once the minor annoyances are fixed. a pleasure to use.
the built in kickstand also "works" as a flygrip style gadget to make one handed use much easier.
really love this case. just ordered one for my evo and one for my prevail as well.

I dont usually buy on ebay so i cant help much there. But i can tell you all the cases ive tried.
Otterbox Defender - did not fit well so i did not purchase at the store. Screen protector is lousy. Phone rattled in case.
Casemate Toughcase - again did not fit my gsm nexus well. Gaps in silicone and i do not like the larger than necessary gap between the usb and headphone plugs. Also was a dust magnet. Should have learned my lesson with the first toughcase i tried for my galaxy s.
Diztronic TPU - have two of these. Rev 1 both in matte black and matte smoke. Great cases except the volume rocker section but Rev 3 should address that. I recommend.
Rearth Ringke Slim - currently using this case. Color i have is matte black and it is a great case.
Case Mate POP! It is not too bulky, offers good protection, good grip without attracting lint. Fits the extended battery perfectly.

I have the casemate pop and Love it, but I need to use my ebay bucks so I figured why not get another case.
Had 3 cases for my Nexus as my review for them are as follows:
Case-Mate Barely There - Price was too high considering the kind of case you were getting. As it's known for, it provides very little protection but was also very slim. I would have less issue with it if it covered the top and bottom of the phones fully but it oddly didn't. With it on, it looked more like a shell instead of a case. I would not recommend this as it seems like you are paying for brand name here. Might as well get a full body protector from Zagg or Ghost Armor instead of this IMO.
Otterbox Commuter - This was a good case. If you are looking for something that will protect your phone without being extreme (like using the Defender) then this is perfect. Adds bulk for protection but also looks great as well. Best of both worlds and recommended for those that want above average protection while not needing it to look like a beast. Fairly difficult to take off so don't get it if you get into opening up your phone a lot.
Diztronic TPU Matte Smoke Grey - This was the best of the bunch for me. Price wise, it can't be beat at $10.00 with a workable screen protector. Looks wise, smoke grey is beautiful on the Nexus as it looks natural (Nexus is grey to begin with). It adds only a little bulk so it doesn't look like a case swallowed your phone. Feel wise, matte is definitely the way to go. I've had glossy cases before and it always left grime, oil, and fingerprints. Matte feels and looks very clean and provides a little grip. Protection wise, I'd say it provides average protection. I've always used TPU cases and they can take drops from normal heights. TPU is fine for my rather un-extreme lifestyle. Finally, Diztronic's customer service is top notch. Had an issue with the volume keys and they are sending me out a replacement case with the keys cut out. No need to return the old one. Would definitely buy from them again because of that as I have high confidence that they can rectify any issues.
So there you have my mini-reviews. It is obvious that I favor Diztronic as they seem to hit the sweet spot for my preferences. Best of all words in all the things that are important to me.
Hope you guys find a case that works well for you too.

They may be shatter proof, but they only protect the better cover and rear sides of the phone. It's a half-solution at best. Waiting on Rearth and will report back.

Case-Mate Tough Case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420043 they're working on it.
I had bought a Case Mate Tough skin case for my phone, and it's had a lot of issues with the power button fit, it would turn off and on by touching the area anywhere near it. I looked around case-mate.com and noticed this case is not on their website, so I contacted Case Mate and they say it's a known issue, and are going to ship me a new one when they come in sometime during in the next 2-4 weeks.. Good customer relations.

Ghost Armor...
No added bulk, adds just enough extra grip, protects from scuffing/scratching. Obviously, not gonna give the same shock protection in a fall.. but then I've seen guys with TPU cases drop the phone and shatter a screen. (with gorilla glass)

Just got my Seidio Active today. As with all Seidio cases, it is awesome. I had the Incipio double case from Verizon, which is a similar concept. But the Active is a lot smoother and looks way better. Great amount of protection, minimal bulk. I actually prefer the way it feels with the case on compared to bare. It gives a nice feeling to the volume/power buttons.
As a bonus, I got the Royal Blue one, and the color perfectly matches the blue theme of ICS. I highly recommend it. There is also a version with a kickstand, too. Here is a link to what I got.
http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CSK3SSGNL-RB
I'm a bit of a Seidio fanboy, as all of my devices have Active cases on them. But you can't really beat the protection and style. No huge logos, and the color of the hard shell really gives it a nice look. Dropping the phone with the case on barely does anything to the case, let alone the phone.

I have the kickstand-ed version and I must agree that it is a really well designed enclosure system. Works really well with the extended battery/cover. My previous Seidio case was the Active Extended for the Thunderbolt and that setup was the main reason why I decided on Seidio.
This is my favorite case and its probably the best value.

It features 3 layers including the screen protector and doesn't make the phone huge, yet keeps the phone well protected. $29.99 and I couldn't be happier.

Video Review: Rearth Ringke Slim Lite case

Hey fellas,
Got my hands on the Rearth Ringke Slim Lite case today, this is a thin snapback shell that protects the back and sides of your S3. Made of a polycarbonate material, it features a matte coating that feels terrific in the hand. Adds a good amount of grip, although it gets a little dirty with fingerprints. I really have nothing bad to say about this case apart from it lacks drop protection, I highly recommend it!
Check out the full review below:
nice video mate keep them coming. looks like a nice cheap case
I bought this case for my S3 and like it quite a bit. Nice review.

Nice review man.
My biggest concern with that case is that it doesn't protect the top or bottom of the phone from scratches. It's not meant for drop protection so why not go with a cheap TPU case instead? At least the TPU case would be able to cover the top and bottom of the phone to prevent scratches.

I hear ya, it's all personal preference. I only put these videos out to help others make their decisions, but in the end they have to choose based on what they like. A lot of people would go with a cheap TPU case, but others prefer an ultra-slim case.
Just bought the white one was looking for a thin case.
Love the feel of this case. Mine has fitment issues though. The cutouts on the side just barely clear the buttons and I can see white from the back plate in them. Going to contact Rearth today and see if this is normal.
Edit: Looking closely at their stock pictures, the fitment of the buttons in the cutouts is normal. I feel like they should be moved a millimeter or two towards the face of the phone. Cutouts for camera, flash, and speaker suffer the same issue also. Spare room on bottom and barely clears the item at the top.
i bought one and got it yesterday but i dont like it if someone wants it ill sell it for 10.00 and you pay shipping, let me know.
dang i hit reply and the whole site change, lol
I just got mine yesterday. It is a very sleek case, but not for my tastes. I need something with a little more protection because of work. It is a good case if you are always careful with your phone anyways. I do have to also comment that it is just as slick as the battery cover.
I would love a case like that with a matte white clear finish..
I got one too, and it is slim, which I like, but I just don't like it, but can't figure out why.
great review! I just post a thread talking about this case. I really like how thin it was, but the colors were too attractive to me. Do you ever use the strap included?
I have the black one and love it. Fits perfectly and doesn't add much as far as thickness is concerned.
i bought the alpine white one should be here in a day or so ..... ill give it a whirl :good:

Cruzerlite VS Diztronic REVIEW

I ordered myself the matte black tpu from Diztronic.
kch ugh
Nice quick review!
I gave both of these cases a fair go. Both of them I ran with for a week. I've decided to stick with my Diztronic TPU. Honestly. both cases are great.
Both cases are easy the slip in and out of pocket. Although slightly thicker, the Cruzerlite is still very slim. Does feel like it would offer a bit more protection in a fall. Since I have never dropped a phone my deciding factor, which might seem stupid to some people, is that the clear Cruzerlite case would get dust buildup from pocket lint and you'd visually be able to see it at the edges of the case. That can easily be fixed by purchasing a non-transparent Cruzerlite case.
The Diztronic case, my only problem with is most of the case fairly slick. What gives me a good grip on the phone is the rim of the case where you put the phone through. It's a different plastic finish from the rest of the case which is much easier to grip with your fingers. I kind of prefer it that way.
Just my opinion on these two.

I'll add my 2 cents even though I can't do an apples to apples comparison. I was never a fan of protective cases, I never used them with my Samsung Fascinate in the 2 years that it was my primary device. That was until the screen broke on my 3 month old SGS3.
While Samsung was repairing my phone, I did some research and decided on a Diztronic matte dark blue case. It's a great quality product. The TPU material is thin but pretty stiff and the fit on the phone is tight, removing the case causes the battery cover to get unsnapped 90% of the time. The cutouts are perfectly positioned (although I would actually prefer covered lock/power and volume buttons, read on). The matte finish actually makes the cover a little more slippery both in hand and when sitting on other surfaces, but I perfer the way the case looks. Also the case has a solid company behind it, when my case arrived, I noticed it the color was actually back and not dark blue. I emailed customer service at Diztronic and they let me know that their latest batch of dark blue covers were in fact darker than earlier batches. They sent me one from an earlier batch at no cost.
In the meantime, I acquired a CruzerLite gloss black case for my Fascinate. The TPU material is a little bit thicker and more flexible than the Diztronic. The case also fit looser than the Diztronic although there is no risk that the cover will fall off when being removed from a pocket like silicon cases. The lock/power and volume buttons are covered (raised and appears to be the same thickness as the rest of the case), but I had no issue using them. The cutouts are in the right places, but there is an extra cutout on the case on the side that does seem to have any reason for being there (maybe another phone shaped like the Fascinate has a use for it). The gloss finish is pretty sticky, especially when the phone is sitting on something smooth. I had no concerns leaving the phone sitting on the leather passenger seat in my car when driving. I would rate this case one step below Diztronic in terms of overall quailty, but will keep on using it as my Fascinate is now being used as a game system for my kids.
I also wound up buying a no-name TPU case (from Amazon) for a Pantech Burst I recently bought (from eBay). While the overall quality of the case leaves something to be desired compared to either the Diztronic or CruzerLite, it does have one feature I wish both the Diztronic and CruzerLite cases had. The lock/power and volume button on the case is covered, but the material in those locations is both raised and significantly thinner than the rest of the cover. IMHO this is the way to go for these buttons.
Hope this helps folks figure out which case to get.
I just got the Diztronic yesterday and I am quite pleased. Nice fit, nice feel, nice look. I even used the screen protector that came with it and it's not half bad.
Just dropping my 2 cents. The diztronic for the matte/clear model.. it gets rather dirty easily so if you happen to get your hands dirty regularly and need to use the phone. Just know the clear will start to change color.
