Even though it is not available in the amazon app store you can still side-load the app without rooting. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/64660113/com.alphascope-1_0.9.20.apk
Steps for installation: (in case you don't know how)
1. Download the above file
2. Place the file onto your SD partition of your kindle
3. Go to settings>device>allow installation of applications from unknown sources>ON
4. Find the app file on your SD card with any file explorer app (ES File Explorer will work)
5. Click on the file and then select install and enjoy the app

No problem! I thought of this afterwards but you can also elect to find this page on the web browser on your kindle and download from there so you don't have to use your computer. If that is what you do it will download to the "download" folder on your SD.

anywhere on the sd card will work, use a file explore program like astro and just click the file and hit the install button. make sure first to go under settings-applications and make sure there is a check mark for unknown sources. that lets you install any apk from your sd card.
you could also just push the file usiong adb but thats more complicated if you're new

Hello All,
I have a rooted KF with just the google play and android market. The live wall papers would work great for a while but lately when I put the KF to sleep and turn it back on it looses the wall paper and I have to re apply.
What can I do to fix?
Thank you
Joe

Unfortunately that happens. There is a way out of it though.
The first method is to completely replace the wallpapers with your own: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28583689
The second method is to lock one specific wallpaper or live wallpaper. This method will keep the same live wallpaper until you undo it, so you wont have to keep re-doing it.
1. Browse to /data/data/com.android.settings/files
2. Inside this folder you should see a file named "wallpaper"
3.Change the permissions so it doesn't have any(unchecked everything)
4.Now your wallpaper is changed and wont change back.
*Make sure you set the wallpaper BEFORE you do this.*
*To unlock your wallpaper again, change the permissions of the wallpaper file to rw-r-r*

The PC/USB thing can only see the SDcard. You'd have to browse there via a root-capable file manager on the Kindle.
(ES File Explorer is nice.)

Ok I have the ES file explorer and When I open it up I do not see where the path is that is postedI did go into the android folder then data but then it lists amazon.email amazon.kindle files that doesnt have settings in it. then I clicked android data amazon cach and that is not it.then I went into andriod data /cooliris and that is not it. so I clicked on every icon in this folder and I cannot find the wallpaper folder as of yet.
sorry to be a pain, I almost want to wipe it clean and install another rom on it and just access amazon prime through loging into amazon like I do on my laptop. : )

You have to go into es file explorers settings and allow it root access so that you can access the root drive previously referred to, you can't browse it right now because you haven't allowed it. Once you have allowed root access you will be able to click the "up folder" in button to get to the root directory instead of the sd card directory, then you will be able to locate the directory you need.

Try going into es file explorer and change the setting of the home from /sdcard to / or /mint then u will see a data folder.

Wait... Have you rooted your Fire?
Root Explorer is the best and it gets the job done quickly. You may have to shell out a few dollars though. It can be found easily on Amazon's Android AppStore.

No! Absolutely not! The /system partition on the internal memory of your device is not considered userspace. You need to have admin or root privileges to do that.
If you have ever used a Linux PC before, you will notice that to install an app, you have to type in
sudo apt-get install x

Over here, sudo asks the system admin for permission before it can make changes to the system. On Android, rooting is similar, but is easily managed through an app.
Rooting is a very simple process, and I can guarantee you that nothing will happen to your KF.

Reason it's saying that is because that *.obb file isn't put where it needs to go, so it wants to download it, and thinks it's not paid for.
I don't know the location on the AFTV as my ES File Explorer won't get off the SDCard. But it's generally ../android/obb directory.
Also, you need to copy the *.obb file over before installing the *.apk file, or it will error out with the same error.
Thanks for response. I tried that but didnt work. Here's my location of where the OBB file is
\Xperia Tablet Z\Internal storage\Android\obb\com-lego-fusion-townmaster

hmm, okay. Well, I'm getting my usb stick tomorrow and will have to deal with this myself, so give me a few days and maybe I'll have an answer for you.
Great! Hope you can figure this out. Thanks again
okay, what I have found out so far is that the obb directory is /sdcard/Android/obb and I needed to turn on root access in es file to see it.
Copying the directory of stuff into there, and then you install the *.apk
If you installed the *.apk first, then uninstall it, then copy the stuff over, then install it.
Should work for most stuff, but I haven't played with it much. Been busy.
Was really hard to find at first, the location. But I didn't have root enabled in es file.
Where did you find it?
Where did you get this obb file I've search the internet for it and all I get is this same exact post on 20 different website's.
Thanks

it's free, I didn't try it on my Amazon TV though.
I[ve rooted my fire tv.
I'm trying to figure out if I;m supposed to install xbmc through side load.
Or if there is a better way since I have root?
I'm a total noob to XMBC and the fire tv.
I'd also like to be able to plug in a media USB HDD I have to watching my local movies.
But I've always messed with android phones, dab commands, and custom roms.
Any guide or direction would be nice, please and thank you.
Why xbmc ? Install kodi it's newer version of xbmc. And use adbfire to sideload it.

yes, sorry.
I guess I meant Kodi, and I've heard good things of spmc as well.
I just wanted to know if sideloading is the way to go with root. I guess it is. I have a guide that takes me through the steps with sideload instructions. I'll give 'er a go.
Thanks.

If you istall a browser on your Fire TV you can simply just download XBMC/Kodi and install it. No need to use adb.

it's easier to simply extract .apk from your phone/tablet then download that apk to your computer and sideload it.

Both ways will work, but in reality everything can be done on the Fire TV to install and get apps without ever needing another device. The first thing I did when I got my Fire TV was install ES File Explorer, turned on the network manager, sent Maxathon Browser apk to Es File Explorer using Filezilla and have not needed adb one time. Not only can I download anything straight to my Fire TV, but I have third party app stores installed so why would I even need to transfer apps? If you have Es File Explorer, a browser and third party app stores installed its by far the easiest way to get and install apps without ever needing to use adb. Its all done on the Fire TV and it does not get easier than that. I can open 1mobile Market and have five apps installed by the time you can send one app through adb. I can download a big file and within seconds be using it without having to wait 10 minutes for it to be sent through adb. Even if I need to send something from my PC or phone I use FTP. I use andftp on my droid devices and Filezilla on my PC to send files or I simply use Pushbullet. You can send just about anything with Pushbullet and can send to multiple devices at the same time. Not knocking adb, but for me its never needed for sending files. The last time I used adb for sending a file was years ago. Its just not my preference, but I understand why people use it, cause its their preference. I honestly think using a browser for downloads and third party app stores for pps is so much easier that using adb, but thats just my opinion.

Sure you can use other markets even aptoide there is bunch of choices I prefer to extract from playstore some apps that I even bought or because playstore had newest versions. I don't need to sideload 5 apps within 1 minute, I sideload the ones that I need.
