Lost Root after update vis Kies. Had unlock code. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I had sim unlock via code, is anyway to recover it, is it stored somewhere on the phone?
Thank you.

I always thought if you unlock it with the code it'll stay unlocked forever, even if you ODIN or flash back to factory...just call up T-Mobile and get the code again. Shouldn't be a problem if they gave it to you once already

Root or unlocked? They are very different things. You will probably need to re-root. I'm not sure about unlocking, i would assume that goes with the SIM.

[Q] New to xperia play, questions about the basics

Help me please. i have some questions on terms i am having a hard time to understand.
What does OTA means?
What does a bloatware means? Someone said that if i rooted my phone i can still update my phone as long as the bloatware is backed up?
I have a kernel version of 2.6.32.9-perf,and a build version of 3.0.1.A.0.145, are these version can be rooted or bootloader unlocked or do i still need to change or upgrade it to a newer one? how do i do it?
And what is a omnius and what is a TA backup?
I badly need somebody's help. To help me clear my mind on what to do on my phone. I promise to press the thanks button a single time on my computer and a million times to my heart.

Ota means "Over the Air" It's basically when an update gets pushed directly to your phone over WIFI.
bloatware is when SE and networks add there own apps ontop of the default android apps.
TA stands for trim area. It holds unique information dedicated to your device.
omnius is a software by the omnius team, it allows you to back up things like your TA and GDFS it also can unlock sony phones

Sim free is when you can use any sim with your phone, sim locked is when you can use only one network. Ok try this turn off your phone, plug the usb cable into your PC, hold the search button on your phone and plug the cable in your phone, if the led on the power button goes blue you can easly unlock bootloader.

No, if you use the official bootloader unlock method, you will not be able to ota update. Using ota will brick your phone. There is paid method of bootloader unlock though, with that method you keep DRM certs and ability to ota

No it's from users on here, they use a tool called setool. You have to connect the test point behind battery and setool can unlock bootloader, unlike the official method it's kind of an engineering unlock, what the sony repair centre would do if you bricked your phone, then they can relock and send it back with no issues
i used jinx13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4002805 to unlock mine. it was only £15 an took 5 mins, you should pm him

[Q] bootloader status

dial from your phone to check status :
*#*#7378423#*#*
service info --> configuration
for me, the best way is via fastboot..

dear gogo,
I've tried that, the service info will tell you "bootloader unlock allowed = yes"
it will not tell you whether your phone is locked or unlocked state!
It will tell you.
Mine is unlocked and says " Bootloader unlocked: Yes "

Yes, you can unlock again.
Request the code again and you'll see if they provide it again.

Just try it

it's ok.
I've tried it.
the unlock code is still the same code you had received before.
the remaining question is whether you sure to unlock it again or not, as standard user doesn't need to do such thing.
bravery comes from experience.
that's it bro.
I think your problem has solved.

For the info...
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Means fastboot is enabled and the bootloader can be unlocked the official way
Bootloader unlocked: No
Means fastboot is disabled and therefore the bootloader can only be unlocked by other means
The best way for you to check your bootloader status is do identify in s1tool or similar

Unlock Phone with CM9

Is there any way I could unlock this phone with CM9 on it.
Yes, you can. Just plug in a SIM card from another carrier and it should prompt you like usual.

If you are talking about carrier unlock, you need to get a code for it. Try buying it online on eBay. Costs about 1.7 usd.
Installing cm9 or rooting the nitro will not get your phone carrier unlocked.

Yes i know but I heard that with only gingerbread you can unlock the phone.

I just popped a non-AT&T sim into my locked Nitro with CM9 and didn't get any prompt for unlock code so I think this is probably true.

CM9 doesn't have HiddenSIMUnlockManu.apk so it will not prompt.

so the only way to sim unlock is to restore stock nand, enter sim unlock code, then restore cm9?
probably yes. or you could try pulling the HiddensimunlockManu.apk and installing it. There's a good chance it is also dependant on other stock .apk's and framework's etc.
Rather than having something go terribly wrong, I think most of us would say roll back to gingerbread if you can do so without bricking your device, unlock then flash CM9.
Unfortunately, to unlock your phone, you need to go back to the stock rom... I've just done it and it's a pain...

[Q] Will installing a custom ROM on a T-Mobile S4 unlock it

I've just gotten a T-Mobile S4, I've already tried the easy unlocking instructions with no luck. If I install one of the custom ROMs on the phone will this automatically unlock it so that I can use it with another carrier's sim card?
No
There's places only that you can get unlock code for cheap. Like $5-$10
You don't need an unlock code. There are guides here to do it for free
