Okay, so after many attempts at rooting my Kindle Fire I finally succeeded. I had installed the AOKP rom, but every one of the games I play, runs in portrait mode( Does anybody else have this problem?) . So now I decided to change to a new rom. And I would like to ask, what do you think is better, Glazed ICS or GedeROM?
I haven't used Glazed, but I haven't had any real issues with gedeROM. All of my apps work correctly, but I don't play games on my Fire, so I can't tell you how that is.
They should both be fine. Gederom is linaro so you might see some minor performance increases.
Thank you man. One question, does it have a volume slider in the notifications bar like Glazed ICS?
Yeah Geedee rom has a volume slider.
I think GedeROM is better :good:
I think Energy is even better
Glazed is great! I have heard great things about eye candy too. Here are some screen shot benchmarks of glazed

GlazedICS works well for my Kindle fire and I tried run gedeROM always give me a issue problem everytime reboot and ending up corrupted. I don't know why except other ROMs works fine but gedeROM made me sad.
I really like gederom version 1.55. Runs smooth and reliable. Tried 1.6 through 1.7. But came back to 1.55. Version 1.7 is nice but I found bugs that annoyed me. Tried aokp, energy, sgt7, and hashcodes cm9. All had things that bugged me. Haven't tried glazed though. A lot of people like gederom. That's why I tried it in the first place. I highly recommend downloading nova launcher from play store too. The version of nova launcher on some ICS roms is a base version. Download from play. Best ICS launcher IMO.

I've been using Glazed for a while and think it's quite smooth and is being updated regularly.

Take a look at Hashcode's Jelly Bean release. It is superb thus far, even in these early stages.

Is anyone using this on CM 6.1.1 ?
Should be able to work on 2.2 & 2.3
I'm currently on cm 7.
via G2
I wouldnt recomend using it as it is verrry buggy, my brother tried it on his galaxy s i9000 its very buggy
Works perfectly on G2 cm6.1.1
Not so stable on Virtuous 0.9.5. Force closes a lot. Though I am intrigued by the stream music option.

on the older roms, i had issues with it, on CM7 it works fine.
I'm running an older CM7 nightly (17) and I have some issues with the app. Mainly, whenever I turn off my phone, turn it back on, I am greeted with a FC of the music app as soon as I'm at my home screen. The FC comes up everytime I try to open the app again as well. Have tried a few dalvik wipes and fix permissions, none of which fix the issue. The only thing that does fix the issue is opening up a root explorer and re-installing the app. Not very difficult, just somewhat annoying. Anyone else had the same problem or been able to fix the issue?

Don`t work on the CM7 Nightlys, but tested with latest
Virtuous 2.2.1 ROM and no problems!
Anybody try it with Gingervillain v1.5?
works on #28!
nice!
exact same music player from 2.3 that was posted a little while ago
Works good for me.
Any thoughts if I can get this to work on my rooted stock G2?
Works just fine on my Samsung Galaxy S VIBRANT with Bionix-v

Yeah, I read the thread title thinking I was gonna get to play with a new music app. Didn't much like the Music 3.0 when it was floating around before.

Hi guys im a new android user - about a week old now.
I recently flashed to Lite'ning coz people are talking about it and i guess its popular.
Im not happy with the icons and blue/black theme that comes with it.
Which ROM should I go for if i want to achieve the below theme? I have read a few good ones VillainROM / LeoMar ? What are your suggestions?

the very last image looks like Launcher Pro. The lock screen could be done with Widget Locker. Not sure about the first two home screens.
I'm running SensioN ROM currently. Happy with the way it looks, performs. Battery life seems better than stock, also.
I'm personally using VillainROM, and it's great. I love it, and would recommend it.
However, I'm also planning to check out Cognition 1.32 when it comes out.
Hi, I'm not sure from which Rom/themes those icons are..I was also from Villain to Litening, great Roms but now on Leomar since the last 2 days..more customizations available and many themes/options you can choose from the kitchen app! Easy to try it..just download the Revolution app from the market (link also provided from the Leomar sub forum)
then just download the rom from there..make sure you have back up your device using CWM first as this is a wipe ROM...good luck!
The latest MIUI Tom is fast, stable and extremely pleasing on the eye.
With base MIUI you get the best of Android mixed with the best of ios, clean and easy to use.
If you want it more Android do as I do and run ADWex or Launcher Pro on top.... makes for the best user experience in my opinion. I have tried many custom ROMS but keep coming back to MIUI.

The first two pictures are from MIUI.
Not sure about the last one, but guess it could be done by applying custom theme and launcher.
ROM.Batista70_3.5_By_SnakeS( which seems to be removed from xda) + Kernel.ninphetamine-2.0.5
Good battery life and nice to look at.
I'm using LeoMar's ROM as his ROM Kitchen gives you plenty of customisations options to choose from. It's like building a ROM the way you want it. I use MIUI from time to time - The most recent update has gotten ALOT better.
I suggest Leo's rom. Super battery life and great performance.

Hi. Can someone point me to a simple Custom ROM for kindle fire?
What I need is:
- stable
- simple, no need for theme or other custom
- tablet mode (optional)
- home screen lock-able, also preferable to be able to choose numbers of home screen. (I only need 1 home screen)
- good battery consumption (at least survive a day without charging for average use of streaming)
This kindle intended to be used by my kid (2-3 years old), so basically using several game apps, you tube, vvvideos
I tried
- jandycane, good, but can't lock home screen, cmiiw.
- hellfire 2.5, current ROM, trying for several day, no tablet mode, lock screen is portrait only
- 10.2 sgt7; battery drain faster than jandycane
Any opinion are welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Hascode Stock Android
Have you tried Hashcode's Stock JB 4.3 ROM? On a kindle your never going to get a full day of online video streaming.
Thanks for the reply. I tried several ROM, including kitkats, trying out ART that was supposed to work better than other ROM for lower ram, but because of stability, I keep coming back to jandycane ROM

Try downloading a different home screen launcher from the play store. I personally use Apex launcher, and you can set the number of home screens, size of the icons etc. I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "lockable" home screen, but if you mean that you cannot remove icons etc. Apex has that setting too, called "lock desktop". It also has the option to set it as tablet mode. For a child that young I'd also recommend removing the access to the app drawer completely, and just putting the required icons on the desktop, but if that isn't an option due to the number of apps installed for him/her Apex also allows you to customize the app drawer. This is a screen shot from my SG3, but I created an app drawer specifically for my 7-year-old.

Hello,
Has anyone tried the Android 4.4 KitKat Launcher released for Nexus 5 on their Note 8.0?
"To install the new launcher (Google Home), you’ll have to install 3 different apps – Google Play Services 4.0, Google Search, and the Google Home .apk. "
If so, is it working ok? how's the performance with the new launcher?
Thanks for your help :good:
I'm currently using the launcher as my daily driver, and aside from a couple bugs (app drawer seems crowded, and the keyboard pops up randomly upon returning to home), it runs rather well. I'm enjoying this psuedo-Kitkat UI!

Sorry, I cant. When I try to upload screenshots, it says it has the incorrect JPEG file extension. Can you download the launcher?

Wrong section..sorry..
The launcher runs fine. and looks ok,
I have gotten too used to touchwiz to like anything else,
however, this can also be used as an app i.e hitting back button does not close it.In that way it provides most of its functionality on demand and serves good for hands-free operation when needed, though s-voice did that kinda similar too.
App Drawer does not have any menus or settings so nothing much to write home about there, other than it's obviously different.
I have it set up minimally for reading stuff only (news and books) and here are screen shots.

EDIT: I just Realized that I replied to an almost amonth old post.
Wife has been complaining that her keyboard hasn't been responsive, that its not picking up her swypes. I tried it out and I noticed that its just laggy all around. Opening/closing apps, swiping through screens. Everything is just so slow. Has anyone else noticed this?
I've been running smooth like buttah since the update. But, I flashed the update tar so my system was wiped clean. Also have done the usual tweaks (freezing/Uninstaller crap, turning off unneeded notifications, etc)

Any suggestions for which ROM?
I've always run rooted stock on my S3 but the 4.4.2 update (installed via cnexus method) is doing weird things. Sometimes it's fast. Sometimes it crashes. Usually while I'm trying to take an important call.
My criteria: stability, speed, and assurance of periodic updates, in that order. No nightlies on that device, just something that works well. It's my work phone and I want to make it last for a year.
Thanks,
BJ

I would solve the problem under stock first, otherwise you may still have the problem no matter what ROM you use. Try Odining the stock ND8 tar again? Make sure the MD5 hash matches what you downloaded for it.
Maybe it's an app you have installed? Try just adding downloaded apps one or a few at a time.
I've successfully run stock rooted ND8, Wicked X v6+, and now on Singularity.
