Galaxy Nexus in coming 2,3 years - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys Im so confused of what to buy, as I dont want to cry i spent my money on a wrong device,
My main question is that is galaxy nexus the phone that u can rely on 2 or 3 more years ?
Is its build quality that tough ? battery that efficient ? (As many are complaining about screen and audio already)
My other variant was Xperia P, which has aliminum body and its very new in the market BUT no DEV. support...What should i do?
Please help me, seriously
Thanks,

IMO this phone is brilliant and will certainly be great for 2-3 more years.

Keep H1X + buy note II in Q3 VS Return H1X + buy SGS3

I have rethought everything.
Should I keep my H1X and buy the Galaxy Note II when it comes out in Q3, or return the H1X which has overheating problems (as most do) and buy the SGS3 when it comes out instead.
Which do I choose? I need to decide by the end of today, please be honest!
Wow! Just wow!
sadly this is a choice only you can make, remember HOX give you full tregra games, s3 does not.
plus sense looks much better then touch thingy bobber.
also may i add no over heating problems here, or any other problems for that matter.
is this serious ?
suppose it is, what exactly are the benefits you are looking for?

Sounds like you want a Samsung device. In that case return your HOX and wait for the Samsung device.
All the pros and cons of this phone are listed on this forum. But only you can judge what's right for you.

I just don't get why anyone with a working phone should exchange it with e.g. a Samsung one. HOX is such a great phone, imho
My Samsung experience started with the Omnia II, which was -to say the least- such a crap that I was really quite "happy" when my girlfriend dropped it after I got it 3 Month. I instantly bought the Galaxy S, sold the Omnia II when it was repaired. Was using the Galaxy S for 2 years now and honestly... touchwiz und stuff is kind of kindergarden shti compared to Sense, it was a solid phone, no doubt, but compared to my new HOX, its quality was kind of kindergarden, too.
I still think the Galaxy S is a quite good phone and I was happy with it. There were little drawbacks I could ignore all the time. BUT ONLY if you pull on Cyanogenmod or at least some other custom rom. Stock firmware was always terribly unresponsive, laggy, buggy and stuff... Sure one can't compare the pure hardware specs because just everything in the HOX is just plain 'better', except maybe soundchips, because Galaxy S had a quite impressive Wolffson soundchip
And whats it about with "overheating"? The Galaxy got hot when you played some games with crap graphics, battery dropped out very fast, especially after a year of use. Now with the HOX I'm playing games with very impressive graphics on 4+1 cores, and the phone doesn't get very hotter then my Galaxy S, plus the battery lasts longer then I'm willing to play ^^ PLUS I don't have to wait an eternity till the phone is responsive again after quitting the game...
So after over 2 years of Samsung, I would recommend the HOX to everyone (except you're really a Samsung "fanboy" ). Even though I was one of the folks who had to get it replaced through warrenty first...
Buy all of them and keep them all. You may need extra cell phones for the rainy days

Galaxy s and omnia? You should have used either the gs2, note or galaxy nexus before passing comments on Samsung.
Anyway to the op...one x is a great phone and I bet the gs3 will be a great phone as well. It's what you want now as there are always new android phones releasing all the time. And for problems you will see similar problems will be posted when gs3 is released. Just visit any device forum it's full of problems (battery issue, screen issue, camera issue).
So bottom line just get the device you like and be done with it.

Yea, should have written "after 3 month omnia2 and two years of Galaxy S" (but touchwiz is still almost the same on all of the latest Samsungs ).
And for the GS i still think it's a great phone (especial with cm9 kang/nightly), and I'm sure latest Samsungs are too, but all I was trying to say is: IMHO HOX is the better phone for me and I would recommend it

If you can live with the UI go for the Samsung as you seem to like them!

Upgrade from Defy

Hi all.
I've had my trusty Defy now for nearly 2 years, and am 4 months shy of my contract end date - but I have no idea what to replace it with.
I'm currently running Epsylon's CM9 ROM, and have always liked the ability to switch ROMs at will, so something with good ROM development is essential.
I love the size of the Defy, something which gave me little choice 2 years ago, and I'm seeing less choice now. Ideally, I'd like a small sized phone rather than a tablet wannabe, but if there isn't anything then I'm open to suggestions.
I mainly use my phone for email, surfing and video playing (YouTube mostly). I'd like something quick, as I'm impatient, but with a good battery life (my Defy's battery started well, but currently only holds charge for a few hours - I'd like a battery that won't give up before my next contract renewal).
Is this the right place to post this? Do ex-Defy owners still visit? I've no idea, but I would appreciate people's opinions.
Thanks.

Well, I just got the Motorola Droid RaZr for a really good price. Motorola is a good brand (except for bootloader crap )
It has lots of dev, and is REALLY thin.
Hope this may help
Thanks for the reply. I quite like the razr, but it just seems like a giant compared to my defy.

Maybe something like the Sony Xperia P or U would be something for you
They arent really big and not very expensive
And in favour for the xperia http://m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_s_will_get_vanilla_android_as_a_google_experiment_-news-4669.php
Although it has the same screen size as the RAZR. Plus Adam gave a thumps down in his disasambly video for the RAZR. I like the looks of the RAZR more and dislike Sony but still would want it more.
I have a razr xt910 and it's nice, but not much of an upgrade from my defy IMO. Development on Defy is actually superior IMO too. I'm actually thinking about an iphone for my next phone just to play with something different. I'm waiting for Iphone 5, if it has good voice quality microphone i'll probably get one.
just check out xperia acro s ... same as xperia s (roms are compatible) but with sdcard extension and ip57 rating
I'll go for a Galaxy S2 as soon as I'm selling my Defy. A little old but still very supported around here. And giving the prepay prices in Romania is not worth going on contract.
I've searched the internet for about one week (documenting stuff) and after that period I ended up ordering a Xperia Acro S ... black ...
Oh boy oh boy ... I can't wait to arrive
I'll keep my defy as a backup phone.
I'm tempted by the Xperia S. I hate the size, but if I want something that actually upgrades what I already have in my Defy then I'm guessing I have to move with the times. I looked at the Xperia U - it's small, and looks nice, but just doesn't feel like it offers much more. The change from Sony to put the Xperia S on to vanilla Android also seems like a great option.
Have a look on HTC One s , the screen is only a tiny bit bigger, the case itself doesn't impress as it is quite big but it seems a very good phone for the next 2 years

If it wasnt for my Defys IP67 abilities it wouldnt have survived, so my next Android phone will have to be water resitant ( ie can survive being droppped in water ) whats out there.....
not much, there is a Sony ericsson/sony Xperia something or other, but thats not being released in the UK.

Xperia S Rumors

Hey guys, I just need to ask you a few questions, because I`m not sure which phone to buy, this one or the galaxy s2. I`ve read on a few places that touch sensitive buttons on the xperia s are not quite responsive, that the battery drains quite fast and that there is not much available ram upon reboot. Can someone please confirm or decline these things, I would really appreciate it.

You will get used to the touch sensitive button in a few days. My friends have had the S2 for a while and battery life is similar. Never heard about the RAM issue. Never faced it. BTW don't you think its a bit late to buy these devices? Buy an S3/XZ or Nexus device if you want a futureproof device.

Thanks for your reply. I know they`re a bit outdated but to be honest right now I can`t afford anything better. In fact I could but I`m a student, and I have many other costs. And for me the xperia s is a good phone for that particular amount of money. It can only be compared to S2. If someone has a suggestion please write it down, or write down your experiance with XS.

Well, for the same budget u will get S3.. Or Iphone4s.. If u r going for used ones.. Not first hand.. Ofcourse u r going for used ones and i think Galaxy nexus is going to be good.. It will get a couple more generations of Google's work.. And thereare other good devices which are new with this price range to look.. I wouldnt buy this if i were u at this stage.. Even though my phone rocks, i would try to get a different and new device, since day by day this phone is gonna get obselete...

Not really, in my country xperia s costs about 224 USD, and S3 is about 350 USD. It`s true that it will get obsolete but so will any other phone. I wanted to buy iphone 4s but I don`t know, it has only 512mb of ram, a 1.0 ghz cpu. and besides that the screen is only 3.5".
As for the RAM and the battery drain, I'd say it depends on the ROM you use. If you don't care about further updates not being released, I would go for the Xperia S. If not so, you should go for a Samsung Galaxy Nexus or a second hand Google Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S3 or a Sony Xperia T/V.

I don`t really care about further updates because I`m planing to buy a new phone in the future. At the moment s3 and nexus are to expensive. Xperia T has almost identical features, but as you said it`s newer than xs

between XS and S2, i prefer XS. if you got other option, go for Nexus 4.

Galaxy Grand is it a good phone?

hi
iam planning to buy the galaxy grand is it a good phone?
what i am seeing in the internet says it's not a bad phone
however what about the performance in gaming?
i am not a heavy gamer i'm just asking
also the battery is it good?
I will just give a quick pros and cons based on my a few months of usage
Pros:
5" screen, dual SIM, decent battery life, removable battery, micro SD slot, affordable price.
Cons:
Processor is slow for today's standard (about the same performance as Galaxy S2 and S2 plus)
Touchwiz (in my opinion) is badly implemented and hinders the full potential of this device.
Low res screen despite its large size.
About gaming experience, I can't say much cause I don't have a heavy game (such as Asphalt 8 or GTA SA)
If you can sacrifice the dual SIM functionality, then you may want to ditch Touchwiz and flash one of those AOSP-based ROMs to give the device some massive performance boost.
If you want to buy for Galaxy Grand 2.. Then go for it.. Because Grand 2 is much better than Grand..

Watching videos and listening to music on Galaxy Grand is quite good.. I have watched many HD videos on Grand and Expected price of Grand 2 is about approximately around USD 360 between USD 380. .
thanks maybe i'll wait
but if it was going to cost me alot when it arrives here in Jordan
i will go with the Original Galaxy Grand
ok another Q
what about battery drain?
when you watch a movie will it be consumed very quickly or what?
can you give me your feedback on this?
For me I like it
Battery is good , gaming for me I'm little playing but it's good if I play games..
About your last question
You mean the battery consumed quick during a movie ?
If it is, so for me nope it's good
Sent from my GT-I9082 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
yes that
then i will pick the grand in the next 2 days because today is holiday here
thanks everybody
last Question
any Custom roms here
have an arabic support?
The original Grand's price will significantly drop when Grand 2 released... But from what I've seen on papers, the spec doesn't make that much difference. The screen is larger (at 5.2", not suitable for one handed usage, even 5" is already too much) and more expensive (about 50-80 USD more) and it will ship with the same bloated Touchwiz albeit higher android version.
Some things to consider when choosing between Grand, Grand 2, or a different phone altogether...
About Arabic support... I have no idea about that.

At this point I would not recommend you to buy galaxy grand because it has become old and screen is average in 300USB you can get much better phones like the MOTO G which has a quad core cpu plus a 720p display and it also has 4.4 official update. It's not a wise move to get grand now, either buy grand 2 or any other phone or buy galaxy S3 which is still awesome now. Through bargaining you can get it at around 340-350USB. Reconsider before buying grand
sadly here in jordan prices to high for smart phones
also we don't have moto here and when the grand 2 hits market here it will be atleast 500USD
and the Grand 1 Will Disappear from the market like what happened to Galaxy S2

in that case u can surely go for grand.....if high end games are not much of a priority for you..........with cm based roms(albeit with single sim only ) would do wonders for your phone like majority of ppl here wud agree.........
but @goku15 was right to some extent..u can go for bargaining a S 3 .my friends have both S2 and s3 they are all on aosp roms.and they are mighty happier........by the way grand is not that bad i must say............

the 1 thing i realised after taking galaxy grand...no matter what happens, never take a phone with less resolution....
i would sincerely recommend u not to take galaxy grand...trust me..resolution matters alot....atleast to me...its not just about gaming mahn..its about every custom roms u implement.... ppi low phone is smthing u better avoid... it mere luck that we got some of the amazing developers here who have made kitkat available...but seriously... u shouldnt take it...... one of the 2 reasons cm is never out officially for this device is no broadcomm source codes available..and low ppi...all icons are big....everything is so big and not finishing......resolution matters...moreover..no OTG till date...lesser the chances in future too....video playback is good but its common now to play videos in hd on almost every cell phone....!!
i know respected developers have made a lot of things possible on our device... but in my advice... don't...
i had option between this and nexus 4....i took this coz of screen size...and it was one of biggest mistake...... truly speaking man... no hard feelings........
ppi matters in every single thing..quality of ur rom and also games and apps and do on video at some point... i wud suggest wait for a while and search for a better option..moto g wud be better in this race if u confused..u can check it out...
or i can suggest you too...
if sm1 don't like my opinion then no hard feelings..but trust me..using it and i know it at sm point!.
Now i am a little confused

is the nexus5x still worth it ?

Hi guys !
I was plaining to buy a nexus5x in the last 4 mounths , but I hesitated a lot especially after the bootloop problem that a lot of people are claiming to have on their phones.
the reason that I wanted a nexus5x is basically the low price , besides the fact that it's a great phone with amazing specs + I already had a Smsung Tab A(6)(free) so I tought it would be wiser to keep it and buy a nexus 5x, instead of sealling it and spend all the money on a galaxy s7 or somthing like it.
So what do u think is the best choice :
to keep the Tab + buy nexus 5x(just a 16gb is available , with no warranty so if it brokes I'm done !!!)
or
to buy the s7
and thanks to all
The answer to the question whether Nexus 5X is still worth it depends on the price you pay for it. I got mine last summer for just 240USD and I still think it was worth it. It has a bright screen with objectively proven accurate colors. It has a very good photo camera and an extremely fast fingerprint reader. It has a very lean ROM, and very frequent monthly updates. The Nexus 5X was the first smartphone to receive the Nougat update (along with other Nexus devices). Even today, the only device that can challenge the Nexus 5X in the price-performance ratio (in USA at least) is the Huawei Honor 8.
Compare it to what else you can get for the same price. I'm still enjoying mine after over a year but there are different options to choose from at this point.
I just got my nexus 5x 2 weeks ago. and if you ask me i will say you that go for it man, its amazing device with less money. S7 is great too but you have to pay more for that, and what i love abt nexus 5x is its stock android and frequent updates if u are a stock android lover and want your phone to be updated than nexus 5x is for you.
Its not worth it. Trust me, the parts to fix it are expensive, it heata up during summer like crazy. The back is made of crap material and overall battery life while active is terrible. Get the OP3 or OP3T if you can. I should have bought that, but I was impatient so I opted for this crappy device
As others have said, it really depends on what you pay. I'm loving mine. I've had no problems so far, battery is acceptable, and running Nougat without problem. I couldn't ask for more from a device which I paid only $300 USD for.
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3
( Kenzo) The snapdragon variant. Lots of development.
Thanks
KnieveI
16GB isn't worth it unless you're getting it for like $100.
