I have JJ Hybrid 3.1 installed with Sirkays kernel. Is there a way to reinstall some of the Sony apps like Weather Widget, Widget Select Widget, Alarm, Possibly even the home launcher? I tried copying the weather widget apk into system/apps with rw-r-r and rebooted but it still is not available in the ICS widgets menu.

Can anyone recommend a stock ROM without McAfee and Wisepilot (the two apps I am unable to uninstall). Tweaked to be smoother, faster and more stable would be nice also.
Really I would like only Home launcher, Panorama, Weather widget, Alarm, Widget select widget, Turn things on and off widget (or a better status bar with toggles like some ROMs). Everything else can pretty much go to the bin

Install Titanium Backup and remove them.
To use the Sony widgets, you need to have the Sony home launcher. Else, it won't work.
You can easily remove McAfee and WisePilot once you root your phone. Either browse to the app location as root and delete it (or) use Titanium Backup as XperienceD suggested.

I did (tried normal way and with Titanium) and it said they were uninstalled. Reboot the phone though and *POOF* they come back.
try root uninstaller and reboot they are gone for sure,
but why advice everyone titanium back up ?
in my eyes is it a sh*t app

Ah, then uninstall them again, and look for two apks named McAfee and WisePilot, remove them before rebooting and the will be gone.

Then you need to look for another two AFTER uninstalling. I've seen this before and I can guarantee they can be removed, you just need to find the two apks that auto install.
There must be a copy of those two apks somewhere else and that's causing this problem.

Copy .apk files from stock-based roms such as Arconium or MooDeD ICS. They are placed in "app" folder.

I applied the latest RUU for the Droid Incredible (November 2010 Edition). In the past, I always updated the phone, Got Root Access and performed a Nandroid Backup before removing all the Bloatware/Crapware on my phone.
However, this time I am getting very different results.
After the Nandroid, I delete everything I don't want via Root Explorer. I would delete the obvious ones such as City ID, VZ Nav, Teeter, and a bunch of HTC widgets like Footprints, Contacts Calculator, etc.
I was told that if I go into my settings and 'Clear Data' on HTC Sense that it will get rid of the shortcut to the deleted widgets on the Add Widget Window. It always worked in the past except not on this release.
I have reinstalled the RUU several times to make sure it wasn't a n installation error (of course I am performing a wipe). Any one have any suggestions.
Also is there an updated list of what programs are safe to remove?
Thanks.
Why not flash a "senseless ROM"? there are a number of them out there. You lose the stock Rosie and are forced to use either ADW or Launcher Pro. They alsy delete many of the things you have no interest in keeping.
Just another option.
Because I like Sense. I love the HTC Calendar Widget, HTC Clock Widget (with the full screen weather animation), HTC Tip Calculator and the stock HTC Keyboard (Hence why there is also an equal amount of Sense ROMs out there too).
Nothing I have seen out there comes close to what I like.
I've always just used the system app remover from the market

Thanks. I'll give that a shot and report back.
Edit: No doesn't work. I uninstalled System App Remover and Got Refunded. It looks like it can't be done because even the Virtuous ROM has the same issue. Oh well maybe in time someone will figure it out.

I would try removing the apps with Titanium Backup if you haven't. That's what I normally use to remove bloatware. If you "Freeze" the apps, the widgets may be removed, also.
Also, could someone let me in on the secret for adding a custom signature with my ROM/Kernel/Radio/Phone/etc.? I'm new to XDA.
The widgets are gone it's the shortcut for them that need to be removed. RMK had a method of removing these prior to Froyo update 1 which doesn't work anymore.
If you know what the app names are, you can use 7 zip to remove the apk's from the app folder before flashing the Rom.

It works. It gets rid of the garbage shortcuts now. However, you can't put widgets on your homescreens anymore. Very weird. Because the widgets I want to put on my screen are installed.

I'll give that a shot too. However, without even doing it, I think it won't work because of the SQL entries left behind.
I am just being real anal. The garbage widgets shouldn't bother me but I want it to be clean.

Did you ever manage to work out how to remove the deleted widgets from the list?
Was using [ROM]DARKSIDE-Dewizzed-V2.5.2 [1/27/2012] and i got rid of the stock launcher in favor of GO Launcher and I deleted the stock SMS/MMS for GO SMS.
everything worked fine.....nice and smooth.
But I tried [ROM] Juggernaut v4.1 [Vultures Edition][Team Kang][12.27.2011] and did the same thing.....It runs slow and not smooth anymore...
oh yeah...I used root Explorer to delete the stock apps...
Have any of you done this type of thing???
You don't need to delete anything for future reference. Just hit the use as default.
I never deleted key stock apps like launcher, browser, contact, messaging, etc
Because I had a bad experience with my Old G1 that my 3rd party launcher (launcher pro, go launcher) keep fore closing and couldn't use my phone. In the end i had to flash another rom and lost all my data

A safer option is to freeze them thru titanium backup. They arent using up any battery in the backround and you can defrost them if you ever need them.

Is there any way I can get the standard ics Dialer/contacts/etc onto my phone? Samsung's are rather poorly designed.
you have to go into apps and clear defaults for twiz launcher then press home button and select the other option

That only changes the launcher to the vanilla ics launcher. But the phone/contacts app is still touchwiz. I'm looking for the same thing, no luck yet.
There's a good ICS messaging app and ICS Calendar app on the play store. No root required (although i'm rooted and i'm sure you are, too).
Download AOKP or CM9 and pull the apks from system/app and push them to system/app on your phone. reboot.

Yeah, I found them. For some reason, it won't let me use that calendar as my default calendar, but I don't use that much anyway... I use the ICS messaging, and that goes a long way.

As it turns out, this was a really bad idea. Or, well, there was a really bad idea stuffed in there somewhere... maybe the part where I had to uninstall samsung contacts before I could shove the good one in. Anyway, my phone is pretty much in disaster mode right now. Even if I did have contacts installed, android.process.acore keeps stopping on me... which seems to not be good.
I imagine I'll flash CM9a6 now. wish me luck.

You have to root it and then use titanium backup to remove or freeze apps.
Better to freeze them first to make sure you don't delete something that will cause issues later.
Hope this helps.

Not a good idea at all until we have usable recovery. As linked above, some of the apps are intertwined tightly within the lg security and you will lock down your phone if you remove the wrong app. The linked poster removed Google Movies and that borked his phone.
Freezing is fine for me for now. It is not as if the bloat is causing lag, this phone is fast.
The security issue seems to be happening if Google apps were tampered. I've removed every AT&T app except myAT&T along with the Browser and Email app and even the EasySettings, and haven't gotten the security screen.
I removed most of the ATT Apps. Also got rid of LG YP. All it did was make it so the yp link in contacts doesn't work. Just an error message, no force closing.
Also added 4.2 keyboard and camera as well as SVoice. Replaced LGs weird browser with stock ICS. Loving this thing so far.
I've frozen everything with AT&T and YP in it, so far no problems. I'm also using everything I restored from my SGSIII. Apex, SwiftKey X, Handcent, etc...

No go, moved it to /system/app, chmod 644, deleted /data/dalvik-cache and rebooted. Still Force closes. Any chance you can share your APK? Mine is supposed to be from the GSM Galaxy Nexus but you never know...
EDIT: Nevermind, just grabbed a Browser.apk off some random CyanogenMod 9 ROM. Didn't like it moved to /system/app, but took it fine when sideloaded as a regular APK. Go figure.
Wow, Google should've kept this browser. It blows Chrome out of the water in terms of smoothness and functionality.

Did it the same way as mentioned for the browser. Could never get photo sphere working, but i like the interface of the 4.2 camera so much more.
I once had a lg nitro hd and after removing all the bloat i safely could i found that my battery life was amazing. Has anyone experienced that on this phone too?
We should make a list of what we are freezing/removing.
Also, I've been trying to get the browser trick to work all morning... no dice. I can't even get it to show up. Had my friend send me browser.apk from his AOKP rom, and just realized its Jelly Bean.... might be the problem. Haven't tried the camera trick yet..
EDIT:
Ok I got the browser working. Used CM9 rom. Its sooooo fast. I've uninstalled Firefox, and Chrome... Now on to find the camera from 4.2
Ok, I can't get the 4.2 camera working to save my life. It FCes everytime I try it. The gallery is working fine. Used the files from here:

MUST = It means that you MUST replace the removed system app with another app if you want that function to work properly. For example if you delete Gallery you will not be able to view photos unless you install another app to perform that function for you, so that's a MUST.
NOT A MUST = It means that a system app can be removed without installing another one to replace it, for example you can remove Polaris Office without installing Office Suite, let's say, but you can install another app if you want to open files that need that kind of app to perform that function, the same you can do with Calculator, there is no need for that app, only if you want it there,so that's NOT A MUST

It's always a good idea to keep at least two Home Launchers, just in case, the stock one and some other one you like best. That doesn't mean that you cannot uninstall the stock one completely, you can do it if you want, I just said that don;t uninstall the stock one unless you have another one. If it bothers you, uninstall it. No harm done. But be sure to have another Launcher.

Why can't Power manager be removed? If stock android has it's own methods, and you can use a app like greenify, for a coarser battery management (the system should still run the soc cores in the right management, per Governor setting). Is power manager somehow too integrated in the system, hardware? Or has no one tried?
