I've been playing around the Miui rom and there are some really neat apps that I would love to have on CM's rom. File explorer with the way it organizes apks, music files, and etc and the traffic monitor app that tells you everything bandwidth you used and whatever.
Is there anyway we can port them over?
Im trying to find out the same thing. The framework is different so it may be hard but if someone could it would be awesome.
the miui music app rocks! Been using it on my Galaxy s, trying tonight on Desire Z aswell.
well, MIUI Framework is different and it wont work at all in other roms. But why do you want to use its app for another rom? is there something wrong with MIUI that you dont like ?
I don't like how miui looks more like the iphone os, I like the way the stock Android looks, hence why I'm using cyanogen mod.

So do what I do and use an alternative launcher like launcherpro or adw. Works flawlessly.

Miui has really improved since the last comment has been posted. Its super rootytooty now, in case anyone wants to try it, and it can be themed outrageously to make it look like android os, if you don't like the iphone-ish theme.
Anyway, I kind of like the op's thoughts. I wouldn't mind a few miui apps on mexdroid, for example. Flashing and restoring between roms for a few nice features is troublesome ._.

You can install some of MIUI application on other roms, for example file explorer. I copied that from miui rom zip and it worked well for me on my ICS (no MIUI) rom.

MIUI default theme really looks like iOS yeah but you can change it very easily.
I'm using ADW Ex so i can customize my homescreen and use an appdrawer.
The lack of appdrawer seems to me like the main reason why MIUI looks like iOS. So you just need to install the launcher you want (or enable the MIUI app drawer with the MIUI Extended settings mod) and delete all icons on your homescreens to make your MIUI rom more like the stock one.
MIUI Theming engine is the best and that's what i would like to be ported on other Roms.
I just flashed this ROM today... and I'm still playing around with it... but is it missing the Voice software that my stock came with? (Voice instructions... Driving mode... Ect)... I installed the Google files suggested...
Also, I'm not seeing Swipe at all...
Swype isn't there, I just signed up for the Swype Beta and got it back...the keyboard on this version of Swype is actually preferable to stock imo
Awesome!! Thanx so much for the quick reply...
Cm will be missing alot of extras that came with our phone... but extra customization features that didn't..
Personally I like touchwiz and tw framework apps like the camera and mms app so I stick with roms based of stock.. still fast and look great..
That is till miui drops

Is this your first time using CM? It's the most barebones rom you can get, there won't be any extra software installed like on other roms. It's basically just the core files needed for the phone to operate plus some tweaks & customization options, so you'll have to manually add things like Swype and Driving mode. This is what *I* love about CM though, it's almost like a 'build your own rom' deal.
I'll stick with TW based roms, might try out MIUI. Using the stock android camera, calendar...no thanks. The TW roms are just as fast. I noticed nothing working faster running the CM7 build which is the usual want from everyone at the expense of good looking and more features(not tweaks).
I just flashed CM9 on my Nexus S, it's meh.

Well then welcome to the wonderful, addictive world of Android If you like to customize then stick with CM7. It's pretty safe to assume that development for this phone is gonna be very good. There are a lot of themes on the market, just search "CM7 theme".

If you don't want tw, wait for miui. Theme chooser sucks. Miui destroys everything as far as theme customization goes. You can mix and match parts of different themes.

Ohhhh.... Intrigued!!! I like the sounds of that!
Well here is a Miui rom that I will be maintaining and adding to over the weeks.
I will be collecting a number of mods and adding them to the ROM as the new miui release comes out. Things will change with the ROM as we progress as I develop it I will add new stuff to customise it even more and make it stand out.
The name MessyMiui is because I am not really a developer more of a Messer, I love to mess and see what I can learn and make.
This Week:
Dolby Sound
Xperia Beats
Thanks
Knight47 Xperia Beats http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1734627
Miui
Miuiandroid for the base ROM
More tweaks planned for system, sound and picture tell me what other tweaks you would like and I will do my best to include them in my weekly releases
*I am not responsible if you brick your phone, drop you coffee or miss your morning alarm, I have only tried this on my phone and it has unlocked bootloader so not sure if works on locked bootloader*
Recommend

Have been using MiUi over a month and I'm loving it. But I always missed some things.
I wonder if I can make some requests here for the ROM.
Hope "flashing it on top of the latest MiUi without wiping data" goes smoothly. Good work btw.

MIUI is pretty hungry though. I'd prefer if the ROM was more cleaned up so everything runs smoother and more memory was available.

Yeah, as a matter of fact I have looked over that thread and the third line like 100 times, but guess what? When you actually try clicking on the link in the third line, it only gives you the option to download the Jellybean Based ROM, which I have clearly stated that I don't want.

It's stability is impressive. With MIUI .... I honestly am not concerned about Jellybean builds as I truly enjoy the MIUI interface. However, the only problem I have with it is that the person on the other side can't hear me rather clearly. After flashing a custom I727 compatible kernel as mentioned in the ICS thread in the Development section, now the Camera doesn't work. Anyone still using this remarkable ROM?
I love when someone has a question that is the same as mine, but it's not answered! is there a working miui rom that the calls don't sound like crap? Miui is my favorite rom but I need people to understand me when I'm talking to them over the phone

Yes!!! Use the ICS BUILD as I mentioned and you should be good to go. The problem is with the Kernel if you're doing that. In my experience, you flash a I727 kernel and voice quality will work (but at the cost of camera). Go over to the Android Dev thread and scroll through the last few pages. You should be able to find the link there!
Hello ppl,
You have to try this rom, [ROM][JB .96][XS/SL][UB] Fenics Smooth Rom 5.0 "Skyline" - Stock Based + MODS. Trust me you will enjoy it, it's a stock based with some kicks to it and mods.
It's super smooth and what you get on a original rom but more and better and more stable. The camera works like a bomb and there's no lags at all. The tread is closed but you can still download and use it, I haven't come across a rom that's this good ever.
