JellyBean carrier sim unlock - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anyone else notice if you had sim unlocked gnex previously then flash jellybean you lose the carrier sim unlock an it asks for sim pin again if you use a different sim card an then when you enter the proper unlock pin code it still says unsuccessful on jellybean takju build.I flashed back to 4.0.4 yakju an everything was fine an unlocked, I guess I will have to wait till yakju gets official jellybean.

That is because your device was NOT SIM-unlocked to begin with. The place you bought it from must have unlocked it for you with a code.
There is a thread in the general section showing you how to unlock it. (It's for DoCoMo, but will work for any carrier-locked device).

The phone was originally locked to vodafone network an I got the unlock code from them an still have it but it wont work on jellybean but works fine on ics no matter what international build or custom ics rom.I even restored back to ics an its still unlocked just not on jellybean, maybe because jellybean is only a test build at moment an not a complete build.I try that docomo app thanks.

Rooted LG P935 need clarification about Network/Carrier Locking

So ive gone ahead rooted my P935 many times now quite simple to do. The question is its a Telus phone i'm with rogers, when i flash the v10f kdz i get origninal GB korean rom fully unlocked phone shows using rogers network. When then doing nitro hd unbrick guide and if i only DD the system.img file to install the att version p930 then do the battery pull factory reset my phone still is network unlocked. What i'm tryin to find out is which .img files baseband firmware etc would control this network lock, since when i tried to flash H!ONO v20c P930 cmw flashable ics leak my phone became network locked again. Ijust cant seem to straighten it all out , information overload .
That's very strange, flashing ROMs should not affect network lock. I'm using Bell P930 on Fido, I've flashed AT&T leak and Bell official ICS and neither have re-locked the phone. As long as the IMEI remains unchanged you should be able to use the original unlock code you received to unlock the phone again.

Interesting indeed would it be the v10f .kdz korean somehow. And heres the thing I have recieved no unlock code to unlock. And now am back to running the CM9.1 unlocked working on Rogers Network .
Aha! I figured it out. CM has your Rogers APN preconfigured. The official roms would not lol. I don't know why the SU640 rom was letting you connect. It really shouldn't because your firmware and baseband should be incorrect if you flash it. Anyway, APN has nothing to do with your phone being locked or not

brand new in box i swear, telus store,. must be a fluke. but it works id like to find more information on different radios modems, which may change service for me, but i was comparing this to what iphone 4 service was saying side b y side.
Yeah, that makes more sense. Unlock codes are $2 off of eBay, it's worth it just to make sure you don't have any hassles switching between ROMs.
Does LTE work on Rogers when using the Bell unlocked version (P930)?
I know you have to get an LTE Sim card and an LTE enabled plan, but before i buy on eBay and update my plan, i was wondering if the LTE band works on Rogers even if it is a Bell phone.
Yes, i have LTE in my area.
Cheers!

I don't live in Canada, but from what I'm able to find online, Rogers and Bell are using compatible LTE frequencies so it should work just fine.

So after trying million and 1 things I made it work! Baseband and firmware go together and I thought they contain the SIM/network lock so i tried changing them, but apparently all the versions i tried were locked too.... so since the Korean version is with unlocked SIM, why not change directly from it to Cyanogen build ??? Because the wifi is not working!!! and since i did not manage to fine how to install in while offline (CM or Clockworkmod) i flashed from the Korean version just the system.img and voila! I have unlocked SIM with working WIFI ... so putting CM after this was a breeze!
so:
1. flash to Korean V10F_00.kdz
2. root the phone
3.adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p27
should have unlocked SIM + everything else working on the ATT version which you can now install Clockworkmod and go for Cyanogen mod of your choice. i did cm-10-20121105-NIGHTLY-p930.zip - works great!
I have a p930 with at&t permanent locked network, I discovered too that the baseband of the korean version is unlocked, I made a thread about this but nobody commented or cared i think lol, you can install any rom you want but remove the baseband of the rom before install.

Ok I have a similar problem with an at&t Lp 930, did the unbrick guide to sim unlock with the korean baseband. While in the koream ROM sim was succesfully unlocked. But after following the guide, flashing to AT&T Gingerbread and installing ClockWork Mod, I flashed it to HO!NO! AT&T ICS CWM Flashable ROM once in ICS, I lost Sim Unlock and was back to: Network Locked on Phone.
So what your saying is to basically only flash the system.img after the korean ROM is on the phone and ignore the other images, then after flash to desired ROM with CWM?
And if so, if I flashed to HO!NO! At&t flash, would I still have Locked Network?
Thank You

problem with samsung galaxy nexus

I bought a galaxy nexus online in italy (imported).
The firmware is Yakjuxw and was not updated. I had a card H3G italy and everything worked ok.
I then updated to yakju and was always ok. I had Android 4.2.1
Today I changed my carrier and not read any sim Wind Italy
you can not tell me another radio to flash it correctly?
or at least I can redo the procedure to bring him yakjuxw?
how do I fix it without having to bring in help?
I discovered dall'imei by samsung which is imported Romanian
sounds like your phone was temporary unlocked and after flashing yakju you lost the unlock.. now the phone only accepts sim of the carrier its locked to.. the only way to fix this is by either calling the carrier and getting a unlock code or buying the unlock code online..
PS- i can see you need help but next time post in the correct section :good:
the gnexus is not carrier locked...
other sim with other carrier goes well...only wind italy have problems
maybe i have flashed a not radio img compatibile?
Try this app, it says it's only for docomo network. But it worked fine for me, you have to be rooted for it to work tough.

edit: Use the unlock method where you keep your IMEI code, could void warrenty otherwise.

I can confirm nexus phones comes factory unlocked regardless the county you purchased it from.
Make sure you don't have a bad baseband after the ROM update.
I bought mine in Canada under a Fido contract and it works fine here in Italy and anywhere else I have been with any carriers.

the problem is that the sim is not recognized by the phone...it not ask me the pin code!
Now i can check the baseband....i flash this adio-maguro-i9250xxla02.img then i think i have this xxla2

i think i must flash the JB Baseband...XXLF1 = baseband Europe
to install it as long as I put it on the phone, go into recovery and do update zip?
But have you tried a total recovery?

If he's running stock ROM, the baseband would have updated along with the 4.2.1 update...that's how my Nexus updated when I went to stock a few weeks ago...the bootloader also updates to the latest...the SIM is probably defective or that particular carrier runs on a different band (unlikely)...it could also be that the APN settings need to be entered manually like I have to do with Straight Talk.

[Q] [Solved] Unable to unlock Note II (SGH-i317m)

Hello XDA and Happy New Year!
I have a rooted Note II sgh-i317m locked to Bell Mobility. I would like to use it with another carrier. I have asked one source for an unlock code, and verified that he received the correct IMEI for the phone, but he said he was unable to get one. I have tried "00000000" but that doesn't work.
I rooted it to try GalaxSim Unlock from the Play store. GalaxSim says it is incompatible with this device. When I click "show details" I get "undefined" for IMEI, Sim Lock status, Product code, Serial Number, and all the rest of the fields. (I believe the app is using the android SDK to query the device for these settings and getting nulls.)
Rooting was a piece of cake with Odin, but how do I unlock my phone?
HB
edited to add details:
Android 4.1.1
Build number JRO03C.I317MVLALJ2
My root method was from galaxynote2root.com; it apparently doesn't touch the firmware.
try this method?

HELP! I have a note 2 from rogers, i recently tried to do the service mode unlock. (#*197328640#) followed the instructions but i was missing the option 4 nv data. found out later that it was 4.1.1 i had 4.1.2. So got impatient took it to the local cell unlocker fella. He ran into trouble with entering the unlock code then attempted a process that reversed what i did and entered the code, this seemed to work the unlock with the code was successful. Or so it seemed until i inserted my telus sim card then my $780 dollar phone that i just paid cash 2 days ago wont accept the sim or any other including rogers. I tried rooting and i put 4.1.1 back on this got me to the point where it will accept a rogers sim but data will only run edge and call out if i set it to gsm only in network settings this is the only way it will accept a rogers sim only
unlocked
me too , i can not unlock my note 2 canada sgh-í7m

No.
i know it a little late but if there are still people reading this today, well... this worked for me, and you need to be on 4.1.x variant of the note 2 i317/m rom.
I was initially on a 4.4.2 Koodo variant and downgraded it to a 4.1.1 Bell variant before i was able to successfully unlock the phone, since anything after 4.1.x that method is blocked/unavailable/patched. After i was done, my Videotron sim card was accepted and LTE is working flawlessly. Flashing Bells 4.4.2 rom posed no issues and phone was back to normal. Software updates were being checked normally (even tho no official lollipop will ever come from Samsung... but just saying) and nothing was acting out of the ordinary.
only problem is (but shouldn't really be anymore) that your KNOX counter will trip and will stay stuck at 1 due to some hardware thingy being physically changed. This is because of the Security enhancements being violated when downgrading from 4.4.x to 4.1.x. (kitkat to jellybean is a big nono to the SE, but the other way around or kitkat to kitkat is fine)
if any issues or questing feel free to ask GL

How do I unlock the phone? I currently have Cm11 on it.

side note, when I got the phone it was via future-shop warranty and they gave me a fido version and put my rogers sim in it, did they unlock it then?

Since Fido is really owned by Rogers, your Rogers SIM may work in the phone if it was originally locked to Fido. To check whether it's unlocked or not, try putting in a non-compatible SIM (like Bell or Telus) and see whether it prompts you for an unlock code. If it does, you would need to purchase a code online or request one from the carrier. If it wasn't on Android 4.3 prior to the CM11 installation, you may be able to install stock Android 4.1.1 and free unlock. Either way, whether you are free unlocking or using an unlock code, you have to be on a stock ROM for it work. You can check your phone's settings and see what baseband and bootloader versions you have. This will tell us know whether you should flash stock 4.1.1 or 4.3

I747MVLUEMK5 is ver. 4.3 and you almost certainly have the 4.3 bootloader as well. With this, unfortunately, you can't downgrade to 4.1.1 where the free unlock option is available as any attempt to do this could brick your phone. You would need to request an unlock code from the carrier, if eligible, or purchase one online. There have been reports also that the unlock codes don't work when you are on a custom ROM so if you buy one online and it doesn't work, you will have to flash stock 4.3.

You would need to contact Fido since it was originally on their network. I'm afraid nobody has yet posted a method to allow you successfully downgrade to 4.1.1 and still preserve the free unlock functionality. You could follow some instructions posted in this forum to downgrade to 4.1.1. However, this wouldn't allow you downgrade the bootloader/modem which is required for the unlock.

I found a way to downgrade from 4.3 to 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 stock. (for Bell).
I bought and used Mobile Odin (available on the play store). Anyhow, it flashes the stock rom and not the old bootloaders. Once you're on 4.1.1 or 4.0.4 the problem is that *#197328640# no longer works. Basically when you type that ServiceMode comes up, but all the options are gone. I believe this is because they locked those features on the new bootloader (which is still on the phone after the Mobile Odin downgrade...)
Unlocking this phone has become a major pain in the ass.

You are quite right. Sam and the networks are winning this time. You can indeed use Mobile Odin to downgrade the system (ROM). However, there hasn't been any reports of a successful downgrade of the bootloader. Therefore, even if you downgrade without bricking the phone, you can't free unlock. Tough but you will need a carrier unlock code.

No you'll have to either call the original carrier of the phone and request the code or pay for the unlock code.

There's lots of them out there. Pretty sure eBay has some and you can judge by their feedback and ratings...can't think of any specific ones right now though.

The problem is that I don't know at which carrier belonged the phone and one page that I found, that doesn't require the carrier and I think read that is reliable (swiftunlock.com), does not include the i747m in the list.
Any ideas or any other sites?
Any that offer it for the I747M should work. Don't take my word for it though. Ask the vendor first.

All the sites that i found ask for the carrier which I don't know or to have the phone rooted and have a version lower than 4.1.1 which I don't .
Is there any way to find out at which carrier it belonged?
Or any other reliable solution?
Please... :crying:
Go yo swappa.com and check the imei. I think it shows the original carrier when it does the check.

Once you are on the 4.3 ot 4.4.2 bootloader, you cannot downgrade the bootloader and the 4.1.1 modem will not work on the 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader.
You must be on at least the 4.1.1 dialler and modem.

Once you are on the 4.3 ot 4.4.2 bootloader, you cannot downgrade the bootloader and the 4.1.1 modem will not work on the 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader.
You must be on at least the 4.1.1 dialler and modem.

damnit, just saw this. Is there any way to downgrade to unlock the SIM? What about if im on a different ROM?
There is no free way to sim unlock your phone once you have the 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader on your phone.
How to know on which bootloader ( bootloader 4.4.2 or 4.3) I am coz I was able to install a custom rom on my SGH-I747M The rom is dirty unicorn android 5.1.1 lolipop rom so Can I downgrade coz if I remember correctly I upgraded from stock 4.1.1 so can I downgrade to stock 4.1.1 by downloading and injecting it via odin is it possible or will it hard brick my phone and can you give me way to confirm what bootloader I have ???
Boot into download mode and look at the screen. If you see anything about knox, it likely the bootloader can't be downgraded to 4.1.1.

Can you guide me that how to know which bootloader do you have i.e. do I have a 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader how would I know that? and also I do have a custom dirtyunicorn rom with 5.1.1 so is it possible for me to flash the 4.1.1 stock SGH-I747M rom to it and then unlock it and then again add my current rom and use it???
Download and install the Samsung phone info app from the play store, run it, and look at the last three characters of the bootloader. If it is mk3 or higher, the bootloader can't be downgraded.

Not quite sure where to put this but I have just successfully sim unlocked a samsung galaxy s3 sgh-i747m on 4.4.2 .This is only prelimary but upon unlocking and inserting a Public Mobile sim I was able to text on a Canadian Rogers S3. No further testing has been done. I first rooted the phone using Kingoroot and then downloaded the phoneinfo app from play store. I then used the app to get to service menu.At first service menu is blank but I used menu ,then key input Q, then back, then key input 0000,then back and then service menu appears. Now I am doing this from memory and no longer have the phone or another one at the moment to confirm this and will update this as soon as I can. But to the best of my knowledge I first went to UMTS(1) ,thenDEBUG(1), then Phone Control(?), then Network Lock.. Perso-SHA256 was on(1) I set it to off (0). I then backed out of the menu and shut down phone.I inserted PM SIM in phone and booted up .Phone didnt ask for unlock code and shortly I had texting service with Public Mobile. I dont have voice or data to check those but cant seewhy they wouldnt work. Anyway can someone confirm this working. My steps may not be exact but if it worked for me it should work for others.
