I was wondering if there was some mod or some way you can disable the phones camera from autofocusing in video mode at night time as it is a problem for me especially when filming fireworks and the phone would un focus and re focus at least 5-10 times in a 15 minute timeframe and it would be nice to just completely disable it temporary at night. I am using CM9.

Is there any known way to disable autofocus in 'camcorder' mode & force it to focus to 'infinity' instead?
I was chasing a funnel cloud that was developing into a real tornado on Friday evening, but the moment I got off the freeway & was in traffic, the autofocus went berserk due to brake lights, and the best part of the video ended up being almost unwatchable because the autofocus kept screwing it up.
Also, are all the video modes 30fps, or is there any way to force 720p60, 540p60, or 480p60? I'm 99% sure the hardware is physically *capable* of it, even if the stupid camera app itself was dumbed down.
Finally, is there any camcorder app that can keep running in the background, so I can pull up a radar app like PYKL3 without terminating the video recording?

good question. i am actually looking for a solution to my problem. i can't manually focus the camera. it seems like the autofocus is stuck and wouldn't want to focus on close up objects. i'm running this rom by the way
Is there any way to disable auto focus while recording video? I find it tries to focus on everything except for what is in the centre of the frame.
Cheers
That is because in photography, you never put your subject in the center. It must be a little on the right or the left!

Say what? I was trying to get my girlfriends qualifying runs at the drags last night. It's hard enough to keep the car in frame at 400kph, let alone being able to control where in the frame it is.
I really need infinite focus because her car was out of focus after the first 50 meters as it was coming towards me half way down the track, then the focus just goes nuts as she passes me.
I use Videoreg Pro as a dash cam in my car and it has infinite focus, so I know the camera module can do it, just need to find a way to enable it in the stock camera app.
When I take a photo on my N3, set to 13MP and auto mode, every time after I snap a photo I have to wait 2-3 seconds while it's "Processing" before it let's me take another photo. This has to be some kind of bug right? Burst mode is never going to work if it has to spend so much time processing a photo before shooting the next one. Anyone else have this issue?
Edit: Seems the slowness is due to using the Smart Stabilization option. Turning that off fixed the issue.
After more than 1.5 yrs of using my Note 2, recently I noticed that sometimes the camera focus gets stuck. It seems to be at macro focus distance. So everything close to the lens will be clear, and things beyond that blurred. There is no way to refocus. No matter what I do (using manual touch focus, setting to autofocus, setting to macro focus, setting to video mode, killing the camera app or restarting the phone) it is stuck for some time. And then it just starts to work again by itself after few minutes. Completely randomly it seems. I'd say it gets stuck approx every 5th time when I turn the camera on.
If I look at the lens, while the focus is stuck, the lens, naturally, also don't move as they move when the focus is not stuck.
What could this be? My bet would be an issue with camera, but I'd like to exclude any possible known issue, before I RMA it. I still have few months of warranty. Normally I would be doing the factory reset, but I was kinda waiting for the 4.3 or 4.4.2 update, and fresh flash.
I'm running stock 4.1.2 (still the latest official for me), and it is rooted, and triangled away. Everything else is stock. I use stock camera app. Also I don't seem to have any other problems. When it does focus, the camera produces sharp photos. SO no problems there either.
PS The lens are clean and undamaged, as is the whole phone.

So I was tangoing with my in-laws last night and the camera kept trying to autofocus every 3 seconds or so, which was very annnoying. Is there a way to stop that and has anyone else had this happen to them?
