Due to the fact 4.04 (think it is somehow ported) it is not certified, look on ptcrb, i flashed 4.04 but not from first hand. Second time i made it. Now i do have 72 baseband (coming from 70 on 4.03 arc s) but NO ROOT. Are there any easyway to root 72 baseband and keep all the kernel etc stock? Any doomlord or zergush or else methos (not including here fastboot cause not working for me.)
thank you
Ever thought of using the SEARCH function? There are other threads regarding rooting and general ICS discussions. I suggest you post your query there. :-\

Greetings,
I am new to this forum as a user of Xperia Arc S. I had the X10 mini pro and modified it with several contributions from you.
Now I know several things:
- Because there is a forum specifically for the Arc S?
- I want to install several things to my phone, but I need the CWM, I tried to install yesterday but I could not believe it's because the version of Android, I upgraded to 4.0.4
I do for rooting and install the CWM?
thanks

just perform this search in Google
Code:
site:xda-developers.com xperia arc s
or post your queston in Xperia Arc sub-forums
if this is about 4.0.4 official update ? then you need a custom recovery to flash things that's true because default/stock recovery will give you a "signature verification" error when flashing your custom things this happens just because stock recovery is only for official updates

You need ICS firmware aswell, ICS kernels work only on ICS firmware, GB kernels work only on GB firmware.

Don't mix Stock ICS Kernel 4.1.A.0.562(ICS 4.0.3) with 4.1.B.0.431 firmware i did the same mistake and i had the sony Logo appearing repeatly. to make your fone boot correctly just flash any kernel based on 4.1.B.0.431 (ICS4.0.4) with any ROM (stock or custom)based also on 4.1.B.0.431 only
Man, read a little bit the threads at Android Development.
Some roms, you don´t need to unlock your bootloader to install.
About battery, if you have good signal strengh, you only need to root your phone and remove bloatware (sony apps) and your battery will start to last. I use stock ICS 4.0.4 rom with Stock kernel, stock baseband, and my battery usually lasts from 24 to 48 hours.
I use a program called 'No Cpu Frills' and set my cpu to the minimum of 133mhz and to the maximum of 1024mhz, even my phone being an Arc S.
The rom you´re going to use depends more on what you want from your phone. Some roms are designed for games, others for business, others just for ego (lol) and etc...
We have many good Roms for Xperia Arc and Arc S here. Take some days and test them... only you can say for sure what is best for you.
I, for example, before getting back to stock, used a lot the IceBean 4.2 (It´s xperia S´ rom with modifications. Very sexy, indeed.)
Good luck on your quest... =)

If you have unlocked your boot loader you cant install OTA updates or any official Sony updates. To get official Sony update from PC Companion or Sony Update service or Over the air you need locked boot loader. To install official Sony firmware on a device with unlocked bootloader you need to have a tool called flashtool installed on your PC.
Hello everyone,
My question is i subject - I have Japanese Xperia Acro IS11S, with Android 4.0.1.B.0.117
Wonder how can I root it? I rooted it before, while on 2.3.4, using SuperOneClick software (found on XDA, too). Will it work with 4.0.1 as well?..
Just do not want anything go wrong so.. maybe someone rooted same phone already and might share some experience, or any advice will be appreciated
Thanks!!!
Has anyone with more abilities than me tried flashing Xperia S on Arc s Phone?
I know nothing about packing and unpacking kernels and systems...
But if it serves as a meter on my experiences, I've flashed all of Arcs Firmwares successfully, unlocked bootloader, Installed Custom firmwares on it, Cyanogenmod (4.1 and 4.2.2), P.a.c (4.2.2), MIUI. All sucessfully and used them for a long time.
As I know from friends that Arcs firmware can be flashed on Arc. Neo L firmware can be flashed onto the Xperia Play etc...
So would you know if with a little bit of tinkering Xperia S could be flashed on Arc S?
Or, if it is just bluberish?

Better not to try. You might hard brick your device. That means, that your device will be unrecoverable.
