Hi, hoping someone can help
I have flashed official ICS release to my Arc lt15i, rooted+ installed CWM with flashtool.
My question is which ICS ROM's are now compatible?
Have searched on forums but can only find posts from before the official release saying not compatible due to Kernel, I guess this is not the case now?
Many thanks
Can you place the copy owned by the load in order to try it Thanks
Custom rom

For those looking for a custom ICS rom to work with locked bootloaders i can recommend [ROM][ARC/S]ICS<☆>MooDeD ICS IFT v80.1[xAROMA][HD-Gaming][OTA][Light'Ning Speed}xDuo+ : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526717 . I have installed and it's working, and from what i can tell a lot faster than stock ICS. I wasn't sure if it will work with locked bootloader, but happily it does.
hi everyone
can some please tell me which rom i can flash on my stock arc gb kernel?
my arc has a locked bootloader so all of the options i have tried bricked my phone. as it turns out i should be looking for roms with stock kernel. i did a search but that gave me 18 pages of words wit stock kernel
i appreciate your help
thanks
Just so everyone knows the details from the original thread.

i have tried to install some the ICS roms from the recovery screen but phone just hangs at Sony ericsson screen and does nothing. i was able to recover no problem.
i was wondering, what roms can i flash that will work? it can be ics or even a leaner version of gb that will work smoothly

ICS and GB roms have different kernels so before you try to use install the rom from CWM make sure you have installed the correct kernel. I'm not too sure what options are available anymore for locked bootloaders because most roms now incorporate tweaks that aren't supported by them. I would just take a look around the dev section for ROM, if they don't specify they need a unlocked bootloader then drop the dev a mail asking.
Thank you
It honestly looks like every single rom I have come across requires unlocked boot loader. That why I thought I would if some one has seen something specific
Basically I want a leaner and smoother rom then the current Sony one

Hey, I am using my xperia arc. And I would like to have my UI look like ICS, but still stay on Ginger Bread since it is more stable according to the official Sony website. I currently have the .62 software, Android 2.3.4, boot loader unlocked and I have no idea what I should do after my boot loader's unlocked. Moreover, I have the flash tool software, but I don't get what would happen if I flash some software (i.e the global generic software from Sony). And I would like to have a tutorial on how to get my phone look like ICS. So if you guys can help me out it would be great cheers.
*Please also show me the download link and the phone is not ROOTED.
Please do a little search in the ARC Theme section. Everything is there. And your phone must be rooted to use any UI MOD.
For rooting instructions check the ARC General section. The procedures threads are in top. All are sticky.

You need ICS firmware aswell, ICS kernels work only on ICS firmware, GB kernels work only on GB firmware.

Don't mix Stock ICS Kernel 4.1.A.0.562(ICS 4.0.3) with 4.1.B.0.431 firmware i did the same mistake and i had the sony Logo appearing repeatly. to make your fone boot correctly just flash any kernel based on 4.1.B.0.431 (ICS4.0.4) with any ROM (stock or custom)based also on 4.1.B.0.431 only
Man, read a little bit the threads at Android Development.
Some roms, you don´t need to unlock your bootloader to install.
About battery, if you have good signal strengh, you only need to root your phone and remove bloatware (sony apps) and your battery will start to last. I use stock ICS 4.0.4 rom with Stock kernel, stock baseband, and my battery usually lasts from 24 to 48 hours.
I use a program called 'No Cpu Frills' and set my cpu to the minimum of 133mhz and to the maximum of 1024mhz, even my phone being an Arc S.
The rom you´re going to use depends more on what you want from your phone. Some roms are designed for games, others for business, others just for ego (lol) and etc...
We have many good Roms for Xperia Arc and Arc S here. Take some days and test them... only you can say for sure what is best for you.
I, for example, before getting back to stock, used a lot the IceBean 4.2 (It´s xperia S´ rom with modifications. Very sexy, indeed.)
Good luck on your quest... =)

If you have unlocked your boot loader you cant install OTA updates or any official Sony updates. To get official Sony update from PC Companion or Sony Update service or Over the air you need locked boot loader. To install official Sony firmware on a device with unlocked bootloader you need to have a tool called flashtool installed on your PC.
My friend has a xperia play from at&t which is sim unlocked and he wants to try a few custom roms. His phone "bootloader unlocking allowed" is "no".
It is only rooted but with stock recovery and stock rom. So can anyone guide me how to install custom recovery and what roms can be flashed on locked bootloader for sim unlocked at&t xperia play? Or there's no way to do that?
He is willing to run jellybean based roms.
I have searched around but it is getting confusing and I did not find any specific guide for at&t xperia play.
Please help!
Edit: his xperia play says the model is r800i in the *#*#7378423#*#* menu but it is from at&t. I don't know why it says r800i maybe because he had flashed the 2.3.2 ftf made for r800i.....
Either your friend did it or someone else, his phone is running an R800i rom, so either from a FTF or custom ROM that was flashed....i this a second hand Xperia PLAY your friend has?
Yes i asked him he said he flashed r800i ftf himself. And please let me know which ftf and rooting method should i use to root the at&t xperia play and the steps to install custom recovery and which roms will work
EDIT : I see you edited it yourself.
Bump.... Please anyone?
EDIT : I see you edited it yourself.
just searched a bit and found this....
First you have to look if your friend's phone is an r800 at or i. if it's blue then it is an at (as it should be being an AT&T) or just remove battery and look behind the phone.
I just looked for it on google writing this "what rom works on r800at" and found this
1 . R800at ROM Questions Read the whole thread. itr's only 3 pages. It essentially says that any r800i (internatinoal, non branded model) ROM works in r800at since both are gsm based. Just have to set up apn setting. But r800x roms doesn't work with r800at because they are CDMA not GSM
2. What is the best rom for gaming? R800at. I have an r800a (branded model) and I recomend this one DiXperia 2 'Everlasting' | Performance. Stability. Experience. but if you're looking for a jellybean-like just flash [ROM] [GSM] [2.3.4] Gin2JellyBean [v1.8.4] - |Fast|Smooth|Stable|Eye Candy|. It looks like jelly bean but it's Gingerbread based.
Anyway, you only can flash stock-based ROMs if you have locked bootloader, and the Xperia Play never got official jellybean, so you are restricted to only GB-based and ICS-based roms. Just get some GB based themed with jelly bean!!!!! Also if you have locked BL you have to stick with stock kernel and can't oveclock. Sorry:crying:
Please click on "thanks" buttons if I helped
