[Q] ICS MMS Orange UK - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
Hopefully someone on here can help me or point me in the right direction. I have installed LC ICS Rom but am having trouble with sending/receiving MMS. It stays sending and will never actually send the message.
I have tried to delete the APN's and recreating them from scratch using the settings from GB, from the Orange website and from website online offering APN settings. Nothing works.
Is there anyone using ICS on Orange UK that can send/receive MMS and what did you do to get it to work...
THANKS!

I have read the OP but people do have it working. Someone has actually responded saying they are also on Orange in the UK and they have it working so I think I'm entitled to ask how people have got it to work.
Thank you for the post though, extremely helpful.

Np, MMS worked for me on ThreeUK, just took a while to send

Turns out that I can send/receive MMS when I am connected to my Wi-Fi but as soon as I disable it, it then go back to staying stuck on the sending screen. Strange that it is working through Wi-Fi only.
When you say it's working, are you connected to Wi-Fi or does it work through your phones data connection?

[Q] MMS in gingerbread not working.

I've tried both Oxygen and Gingervillian with the same problem, no MMS. Internet works on cell network and MMS works fine on Leedroid. Any ideas?

I found this too, with both of those ROMs, and redux, and ultimate droid as well so I was beginning to think it was a gingerbread thing in general,
but I've had it working on all of these ROMs since then.
Presuming you do have the correct APN, read on. . .
I didn't have to do anything to make it work, it just seems to need a stronger signal then 2.2 so as long as I'm in part of the house where I know the signal is good, it will work.
I'd say 1 bar = no chance
2 bars = you may be lucky
3 bars = likely to work
4 bars = fine
Also, be patient. With all of these ROMs, every time I try to send an MMS, my data connection completely disappears - without exception.
If you hang on though, it will come back, sometimes it takes a minute or maybe a little more, then the MMS will send 30-60 secs after that.
Its not ideal, but it does work.

As far as I can tell the APN is correct. And like I said, internet works.

All Gingerbread roms are in RC and arn't properly stable yet so there is bound to be some bugs and stuff. Try CM7 cause for me, that actually seems to be the most stable Gingerbread rom there is and it actually works.
Trying the latest cyanogemod rom now. Not working either.

Help?

Hey here's something interesting. In Leedroid the only way I can send mms is with the stick messenger. If I try with handscent it won't work. Any thoughts?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
To be honest, despite my earlier comments about slow MMS on Gingerbread ROMs, I never had any problem when using Leedroid.
What network are you with?
I'm with Orange UK
I'm on Orange PL. I discovered that if I change the file limit to 100K in Handscent on LeeDroid, then it works. Still can't get Gingerbread roms to work. The only difference I can find is that LeeDroid has an extra option in MMS settings allowing for a MMS protocol that's suppose to be set to WAP 2.0. Gingerbread is missing this option.
Something else to remember:
HTC Sense's messenger compresses the crap out of MMS images. Typically images i send are under 50KB, while with Default gingerbread messenger it'll try to send files at the default max of 300KB, which is why it takes longer to send. For me though, sending an MMS image just spins and spins. I've left it for more then 10 minutes with no results, not even an error.
Man, that sucks.
I never had to change any of the settings in any ROM for it to work.
Beamed from the depths of my mind, by telepathy.
Well after fiddling with it, I think I got an MMS to send. I had to delete and re-enter all of the apn settings, reboot the phone, then wait 15 minutes for the phone to decide to activate the data radio. Then when I chose to resend the picture, it went though.
Now I wonder what will happen when I re-enter the Internet APN...
It appears that when I add the internet apn, mms no longer works. Internet works fine. I was able to connect with H speeds, no problem just no mms. Once I deleted the internet apn, leaving the mms apn, rebooted then cycled the mobile data, mms came back on.
It's a very weird issue.

I am on the carrier Telus in Canada. My desire sends MMS as an unsupported type even with APN backup and restore. It just doesn't work without the MMS Protocol option.
Any luck?
I had the same problem on my HD2 and Gingerbread - Internet was ok , SMS too, but MMS could not be sent!
And: I got it running!!
You just have to clear the Data-Cache of the SMS/MMS-App:
Goto settings > applications > manage applications > all > SMS/MMS => 'clear Data' (if 'force stopping' is active please click on it first)
Hello
I had the same problem. On your apn settings, you have to put 2 setups, 1 for internet (default, suppl, mms) , and 1 for mms (mms). Delete all over apn settings, then it works.

[Q] No internet access using 3G - CoDeeN?

Hello, I`m from Poland and I have a little problem with connection using 3G.
When I turn Wi-Fi off and turn 3G on and I start browsing Internet I always see:
Welcome to the CoDeeN HTTP CDN Service!
and more, more text.

Google does not work properly. After clicked "search" button I always see:
You are trying to use a node of the CoDeeN CDN Network. While the Host header is generally optional for HTTP, it is required for CoDeeN. Furthermore, numerical hostnames are not allowed. Please add this header and try again.

Can't see anything else. I have problems with almost every site, I see this text above...
I tested few browsers, always the same.
I even change network from T-Mobile to Orange. Same stuff ;/
I checked APN - they are perfectly good.
Using Wi-Fi there is no problem, everything works just fine.
Using another mobile - works fine.
So there is a problem with my Desire HD.
I have not rooted it! Few months ago, I installed some stuff for proxy, but I uninstalled it quickly.
Best regards. Thanks
refresh, still anything
I`m wondering, if I would erase everything, it will resolved my problem?
Similar thing in UK a while back with Orange.
Only happens on certain models, and was fixed a couple of days later.
It might be worth a full reset, if its the proxy stuff still causing problems.

MMS Broken on 4.0.3? 4.0.1? or ICS in General?

I can't seem to send or receive MMS messages on my Gnex. I didn't try when on 4.0.1 so was it working then? I'm on o2 and there are no guides for APN setup yet. If yours is working could you post up the APN please?? It's odd because I have a sgs2 running ICS and its not working there as well...... Any ideas are welcome!!
anyone??
Tmobile much?

I had similar issues, turns out I had an extra (bogus) APN defined for MMS traffic, removing it helped instantly.
my MMS is broken too. Only works very rarely, and even then it's broken.
I contacted my carrier and explained it all and they said they'll send me a new SIM. Let's see what that'll do...
make sure wifi is off when trying to o send and receive. I'm sure there are probably apn issues too, but this has helped some people too.

Exact same issue for me despite many attempts to resolve it. I am on the giffgaff network and tried all the APNs with no success. It definitely appears to be an issue with ICS. As per the OPs post ideas, solutions would be welcome.

Thanks for the post.... I know most (like me) don't use mms much but I like to be able to get them from friends that are not quite "up with the times"...lol But like you said this seems to be more a issue with ICS than the actual APN... Help out guys if its working for you what rom & APN are you running?
It's definitely a problem with Android as a whole, since I had the same trouble on my HTC Desire all the way from stock to custom roms. Only some custom roms enabled MMS but I have no idea what the devs did to fix it. It's been an issue for me the past 2 years now. Has never worked properly since making the jump to smartphones. Even iphones have trouble with MMS apparently, so its not isolated to android either.
I doubt my new sim will make a difference, still waiting for it to arrive
i have no problem on my telco (Maxis) in Malaysia.. since i use
desire
incredible s
desire hd
evo 3d
galaxy nexus
all mms are working fine.. because my apn is already available with the android os.. no need to configure anything
my telco always send mms ads.. so when it comes to my gnex.. i just on my data.. then download the mms.. then the mms will load up n play well
Did anyone come up with a working solution for this issue? I've tried everything i could find in here:
Changing mms.apk, try with Handcent and GO SMS Pro. No luck.
I've checked my apn settings and checked them with the guide from my provider (Bibob - Denmark).
I get a message that I've got a new mms and when i push the download button it says "Currently unable to download. Please try again later."
I had the exact same problem with my Desire, but i gave up on trying to fix that... Could seem that i have to do that again with this new phone.
If someone could help i'm very interested in any suggestion.

Call your provider and ask about it. Maybe your subscription don't have mms activated?

I know it is... MMS is not an option here in DK, it's just there with every provider.

Nexus MMS Issues

Hi xda i've had a problem with my new galaxy nexus with sending and downloading any MMS message.
Basically I noticed the issue today as it was the first time a friend sent me a mss on my new device and I could not download it. I tried messing with the APN, Auto-Receive and turning WIFI off and I still could not get it to download or send MMS so I decided it must be a issue with the device.
My phone came with stock yakjuxw 4.0.4 but I flashbooted it to 4.1 without root and ive had no issues other than this MMS issue. It is not my sim as I tried sending and receiving MMS from my old Blackberry and it worked fine.
My device is a unlocked GSM device and I am based in Australia.
Can anybody give me some insight on what to do?
EDIT: I looked at CatLog while trying to download the msg and I got the following which it kept repeating if it means anything:
GC_CONCURRENT freed
WAIT_FOR_CONCURRENT_GC BLOCKED
Ps: My first post of now many
99% of the time it's APN related.
Does your friend have an iPhone? I have horrible problems getting MMS from iPhones for some reason.

The first MMS I received yes was from a friend with an iphone but then tried sending one from a nokia and got the same issue.
It sounds stupid but could it have anything to do with me not having root?

I've experienced similar issues in the past, and had success with going into the APN settings, hitting the menu dots, and selecting the reset to default option. Send some of the settings or data got corrupt at some point (even though everything looked OK)

I have a similar problem on both of our nexuses (nexi). Mine is rooted and my wife's is 100% stock. MMS send fine most places, but anywhere that has a wifi network seems to keep the MMS from sending. The picture will just sit there with 'Sending' next to it for days before you realize it never sent. It wont even send once you leave the wifi area. If I send the message when i'm not near wifi, it sends fine. I realize this is of little help, but you're not alone anyhow.
This is my first visit since this problem and I figured out the problem was to do with my carrier. I called them and my MMS was set to use blackberry servers. They put me back on their network and its worked since

[Q] MMS on Hangouts not working while WIFI on

Got my M8 the other day and noticed my MMS through Hangouts wasnt working while I had WIFI on, I turned of WIFI and MMS worked right away. I did some searching and found that people from verizon and att also having this issue but there was no solution. Thought I would post this here to see if anyone else is having this issue and if there is a fix. Never had this issue on M7.

I have even tried stock messaging app as well, same issue, if my wifi is on and try to send/receive mms the 4g/lte icon comes on but just sits there trying to download, if i turn wifi completely off it comes right through
that is weird..I assume you have rebooted the phone a few times..
maybe time to call tech support, and see if your phone is defective?

rebooted several times, will call tech support but i have seen others with this same issue
I wasn't able to receive MMS while on wifi with hangouts or hoverchat unless I opened the stock messaging app. I messed with wifi and mobile priorities and APN setting and no luck so I'm using the stock app for now.
If you're using WiFi calling you can't send and receive MMS unless it's the stock app.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I actually called T-Mobile tech support and they walked me through deleting all my SMS messages in the hangouts app and then making the native app the default messaging app again. Then they wanted me to send a test MMS message to myself (using the native messaging app) and it worked. So i went back to using hangouts again and it worked for a day, and now it stopped working again. sounds like a bug in the HTC software to me.
I've always had this issue. You can help it out a bit by going into the wifi settings and setting it to be able to auto switch from wifi back to your 4G connection. Still doesn't always work. I don't send MMS often though so its not a big deal to me. Its the only thing that doesn't work for me. It does the same thing for me in the normal messaging app too. I turn wifi off and it goes though just fine. My M8 is only a few days old but most of my issues came from that same issue on my Note 3.
I can't send mms with hangouts on wifi either.
Is there a way to report this issue to HTC?

How did I never see this when I had the Note 3. It was soooooooooooo annoying. I always disabled my wifi and get it then go back to wifi. I just tested this and it works. I don't do very many MMS messages but when I get one I know it'll download correctly.

i was having the same issue ill give this a try thanks.
I'm going to have to retract my previous statement where I said it works. Yes, it does work but you have to disable wifi calling for it to work. I guess I'll have to deal with disabling wifi when I send/receieve MMS because wifi calling is a must for me.
I'd like to see TMobile fix this to work with wifi calling enabled too.
