I stumbled across this launcher today and thought the idea of the live wallpaper was pretty cool. How difficult are live wallpapers to make? How does one implement the physics into the wallpaper. I have some graphics skills, but no coding skills.
Might be worth playing around with, eh?

Hello! Thanks for trying out our launcher!
Actually, it is quite easy to make live wallpaper -- we have a tool (software) that we distribute to our developers. The tool itself does not cost anything, but after a 6 month trial we will ask for royalties (very small) for any themes that are sold. If you only plan on distributing free themes, it won't cost you a thing.

Hi guys,
whilst browsing youtube, i found this cool unlock app:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InCdRJwZDyg&feature=related
its made by some TAT mobile UI people and looks really cool, like most of the other things they have made.
is there any way to download this or is there a similar app already available? Is there a way to download any of these apps shown? because they all look pretty sick
thanks
well according to their blog site these are all concept prototypes.nothing has ever been released from them.cant find anything else about all their apps on youtube

Thats what i read, but seeing as they appeared to have a fully working version of it, why did they not choose to release it? i know i'd pay...
so there's no chance of getting any of this stuff then?
IT'S FAKE!!! prerecorded videos.
look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T8xGp6xLsY&feature=related
on screen battery is full and on the phone it's not
but it's a good idea to make traffic to their website
wow nice things!!prototype ok bud possible in the future???
do you have seen de 3D Eyetracking UI???just amazing if it was possible
LOOK @ THIS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SImOIMcMlk
about the 3d eye tracking stuff, surely it simply takes a 3d interface which uses any feedback from the gsensor to rotate the view, much like the diamond hologram app.
im not so sure its a fake though. the way the camera blows out when it switches on seems pretty realistic to me and then again, these are only prototypes/concepts. Perhaps they decided to film the videos actually running on phones to stop people thinking that. if you look at an older video by them, you can see its being run on an emulator which could be more easily faked.
Some of the lock apps look fairly genuine, just iphone like apps. The others perhaps not.
The Astonishing Tribe (TAT) is a Swedish company founded in February 2002 by Mikael Persson (now Tellhed), Ludvig Linge, Paul Blomdahl, Karl-Anders Johansson, Per Gustafsson, and Hampus Jakobsson. TAT started out as a hobby project and for the first year the company worked with TV commercials, post production for film (eg. Mannen som Log), animation (eg. Swedish National Program Värsta Språket), consultancy services within image compression for embedded systems, and interactive art.
During the second year the founders started to employ people and focused the company on mobile user interfaces, especially licensing technology for rendering and structuring of the user interface. As of August 2008 over 160 employees work for TAT at the offices in Sweden, South Korea and the United States. TAT works with some of the biggest mobile brands (Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Orange, Motorola being some of the more known official customers).
Some of the founding members have a history from the demo group Yodel. This group made a contribution to The Party 1996 called The Astonishing Tribe.

It seems plausible at first glance.

Does the diamond have multi touch? last time i checked it didnt!
^ doesnt even look like his thumb touches the screen to me. the gesture could just for effect.
Wthe companies apparent background in animation and interactive art it's possible they are just videos. However there can't be much money in purely producing concept videos, the company surely must have more substance. The lock apps seem possible at least.
i suppose if the touch hd detects the centre point as the cursor when doing multi touch, it could be possiblew but how would it know which way it was rotating??
I originally posted this on deviantART earlier today but have received no responses. 1800PocketPC recommended that I also try here. I didn't even think there may be designers lurking in the developer ranks...!
[EDIT: Apparently I'm not allowed to add a link to back-reference the deviantART link because I'm a newbie.]
I'm a software developer from the UK with absolutely no graphical ability. None. Every time I come here and see the awesome visuals that you guys produce I am literally blown away. The sheer range and quality of graphics are mind-blowing.
I'm primarily a web developer but in my past I've been involved with creating Flash-based games along with designers, but my eye's recently been caught by the Windows Phone 7 system that Microsoft are producing and the XNA architecture that you can use to develop games for it.
If you don't know, basically MS are throwing a tonne of money at their new phone operating system (coming out in a couple of months) and will have an application ecosystem similar to Apple's. My plan is to get a few (simple) 2D retro-style games up on their app store to try and capitalise on this surge of new people.
I am more than capable of developing the architecture for the game. I have experience in developing tile-based gaming engines and have already produced one example of a top-down "fighter" game using XNA and some dodgy graphics as a proof-of-concept. My plan is to take this and some other games I have ideas for, develop them in conjunction with a designer (or two) and put them on the marketplace.
I'm looking for someone interested in creating some retro-style game graphics/sprites to help me achieve the goal of selling these games and making us both - hopefully - some money. I'm hoping that someone out there there's someone, possibly a student, who'd like help. Even if the games don't get off the ground (and/or don't make any money), I will provide Windows-executables of the game that the artist might be able to use for course credit, CV, or something similar.
Please note that this is not a paid job. Not up-front, at least. However it is something that I hope will take off and we can arrange a profit-share for. I'm willing to accept the costs of getting onto the approved-developer-list (so that we can submit applications).
Is anyone interested?
Craig.

I have some cogs turning in my head about a variant of audiosurf, except its more of a puzzle, with your favorite tunes. I really think it will take off if its done right, I just need the know-how to develop it myself
Cheers guys
Have emailed you both. Anyone else interested?
I think this is a great idea and my plan is to work with a number of designers on a number of different games/applications/projects over the coming few months, so as many as possible!
Craig.
I'm interested. I have experience in Photoshop (7 years) and am a beginner in character design and fine arts as well. Shoot me an email and I'll show you some of my work.
glad to see you finaly got the ball rolling on this

Cheers Saijo - yes, thankfully things seem to be starting to move forward!
Thanks for all your help. I'll let you know when we have something public if you'd like.
Regards,
Craig.
Would love to see it , when you are done with it. just shoot me a mail [email protected] or on twitter @1800PocketPC

I just wanted to share a video of the Chameleon Launcher. Overall the Launcher is nice but in its Beta form it is limited in wallpaper and widgets. Couple points listed below but watch the video to see in action
Only Chameleon Widgets Allowed (Limited Right Now 5)
No Folder Support
No Apps Shortcuts in the Main Screen
Works in Landscape and Portrait
Home dock selected based on Time of Day, Location, and/or Connected Network
Overall Appealing and Smooth Design
I feel it has great potential
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUI2oPNqBW4&hd=1
I just got an email from the Chameleon team saying that I should be receiving instructions on how to activate my pre-order of the Chameleon launcher this week. It's different from any other launcher that I've seen and I'm really excited to finally be able to load it up on my N7.
Just got my beta invite.
Activated and launched.
So far I like it. It will take some getting used.
Definitely has some great potential.

I personally didn't like it much. Too limited ATM, but it has some great potential.

will wait for the official pack then purchase.
So Far so Good
I got my invite and install today and I can gladly say that I am pleased with it! For a pre-beta I only had it crash once or twice while pushing it through a lot. It has so much potential and is going to get so very great! I would say by mid-September this will be complete and ready for a full release. My only problem with it right now is that it is a little odd having only 6 spots on a 7in device for my widgets (other users, you will understand). But my N7 is rooted and Parandroid is looking good, so with more time and tablet ui really expanding I can't wait to force the app into a larger dpi! That should give us more options!
Cheers,
Vanka
Just installed it and played around with it for a bit. It's too buggy and crashes all the time. And every time it crashes, my widgets mess up so I have to redo them.
Twitter widget only let's you read them or click links in tweets. Can't reply or do anything. Email widget only shows NEW email instead of all email.
I'm sure they'll iron out the kinks.

Same here. I'll give it a shot once I get the the activation email, but I don't expect much since it's in beta. However I hope they frequently update, I'd be happy to see improvements every few days.
as stated above, not much use at the moment, but has potential
Where, exactly, is the potential benefit you guys are seeing beyond already available launchers and modifications?
Just looks to me like they figured out how to get $10 out of people for something they could do for infinitely less and about the same time commitment.
The beta launcher is nice,.. but i dont want to buy 8$ for a beta launcher

Unlike Minecraft, which costs 7 bucks and has been in beta for about a year now, teknision stated the official version of Chameleon will be released in late Sept. So backers and preorders are getting the beta a month early. I have a feeling they are going to charge more once it's officially released.

I kind of view the potential like Google Now. Which learns basic things and aggregates some information that it thinks useful for you, whether it be baseball, directions getting home, or the weather. If they can effectively achieve a user interface that can evolve to your day, and present the information that matters most to you on the homescreen, it could be really neat. Right now it doesn't really show that and is limited.
The other thing that really interested me and they showed in one of their concept demo but it seems was removed (anyone confirm?) that you could have multiple user profiles and have a login screen. Which especially on a tablet that is used by myself and others, I would love to have. The other thing they showed is to stream media from your tablet to your tv, but while this is streaming you can still use your tablet, the streaming is in the background. Again it seems this feature is not going to be included, but perhaps enough friendly  nudges from the community can put them back on track

THe widgets are HTML5. So if you can code HTML, you can make a widget for it when the API is released. People who haven't developed for Android in the past will be able to develop widgets for this without having to know Android code. Plus with the way the app and widgets are designed, you won't have those funky size widgets that don't fill the space, so you end up with the edges of the widgets not matcng up and it doesn't look too good.

You can have multiple screens that the app can automatically switch to depending on various factors. Like you can have a morning screen, ten when you go to work, it can switch to a work screen. There was never multiple "profiles" unless that is what you consider a profile to be.

Yeah no problem
I'm actually not the leader of this project but to make it easy it would be a MMORPG but in a real world like I mean not a science fiction universe every thing could be change like buildings and it would be a massive multiplayer.
This is just the starting idea and it can still be change (maybe too expensive or difficult or just mind changes ).
Also for your 2D game why don't just give it a try I'll mp you my email and we could try to build smt
Hope I could have helped you .
Hi Everyone,
New to the forums but I have definitely browsed here before a lot of good things going on here.
To get to why I decided to post here: I am a professional web designer that has always inspired to make apps. I have thought of a ton of ideas in the past, acted on a few tried to have them developed only to fail because of the communication barrier when trying to work with freelancers. I would like to find an inspiring app developer who would like to work with me on some projects. I have one project that is ready to be made like yesterday so work would need to be commenced right away.
It may be such a thing where we could trade services back and forth web design for app design etc. OR Pay per project OR Profit share. Details tbd
A little bit more about me I have a degree in web design with another 2 years spent studying unaccredited courses. I know all about design and color usability etc etc. A lot of the same skills that it takes to develop apps. With me being in web design I come across clients who I could make apps so continued work would be expected.
If this sounds of interest to you respond get a hold of me or reply here.
Thanks!
Kyle
