I am trying to go back to stock ICS and using http://galaxys2root.com/t-mobile-ga...-to-ics-stock-on-t-mobile-galaxy-s2-sgh-t989/ as reference. I used it before and it worked fine but for some reason this time its not working. Odin says that the process passed but when my phone loads it goes back to the ROM I originally had. Is the linked method not a good one?
Yes that's the proper procedure.

I've been searching and have yet to find a complete guide or one stop shop for unrooting and putting back to factory. I'm rooted with beastmod, synergy kernel, and cwm recovery. I do not have a stock .tar or nandroid backup. Can anyone help with providing instructions on how to do this? I want to be unrooted, stock rom, and stock recovery. Basically like how it was out of the box.

Great instructions that have helped me go back to stock a few times. FYI, the file in this thread is stock GB 2.3.6. If you want stock Tmo ICS image:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705565
not that i want to go back, i am loving this ICS leak, but for those that want to go back to stock 2.3.5 can we simply just put in the rom image in odin and flash in download mode?
figured someone was bound to ask so wanted to get it out there.

not really any help there. rooting is not the issue. didnt know if anything was hard coded into the device with the ics update that prevented anyone from being able to just put the phone in download mode and load up the official odin roms to downgrade.
No, you can use the stock ROM at anytime to flash to GB or back to ICS.
Did you not read the second paragraph of the thread?

My friend is currently running cm10 on her phone and has asked me to make it stock again. She wants root gone completely as well as cwm. What would be the easiest way to unroot this device. If anyone has a thread that can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I knew how to do it when it was gb but i haven't messed with this device since then and she is on jb now and I am not sure what I need to do or where the gs2 is actually at with stock kernels. SO much going on i cant keep up anymore haha.
Just Odin back to a stock rom. There is a sticky thread with everything you need in development.

I'm getting ready to revert my phone to stock, but I haven't used Odin for a while. The one click file has a .7z extension. Will it need to be unzipped with 7zip before using Odin?
Yes unzip it and open the odin package included within.

If you want an .EXE instead, here's the one click for current version (FI27).
Quick question...need answer asap. Helping out cousin who has to go back to sprint store b4 8pm.
He has to go back to stock unrooted for sprint to replace his phone. My question is, will flashing the stock odin tar for FI27 replace the recovery also? If not, is it any way to get back the stock recovery?

Hello,
I've been doing the runarounds all day with my Note II. I've been around the block a few times so I'm comfortable using ADB/Odin and the like. I have the pro version of the Note II toolkit.
I'll spare all of the details, but for now I'm able to get a booted ROM, custom or stock recovery. In TWRP, i get a message "E:Unable to mount '/preload'
Is this something I can ignore? Or do I need to get a good Odin & PIT file (I have one) and reflash/repartition my device?
Thanks
Ignore twrp does not have proper mount point for preload. Does not affect anything.

Perfect, that's what I suspected, but I'm trying to start from vanilla scratch ATM.
Thanks for your prompt reply =]
Vanilla stock? Guesding from your title that would be touchwiz 4.1.2 unrooted stock recovery. I use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36388145. After flashing a few wierd things will happen but this is normal. Once it boots up you will have 100% stock mc2 phone just like it was new. Hope it helps.

Yes I frequently use that as well =]
I just had a bundle of very strange things happen today while flashing the MK4 update from platty. My Play store disappeared, literally poofed, not installed, and that started a long string of "first-timers". I decided to just go back to the beginning instead of trying to fix whatever happened. In the process I softbricked, but I'm up and running again.
Thanks for your help.
