I thought of putting this topic up because i saw how crazy the battery Life is. I put it charge at the time when i was not thinking to put the topic up(for about 2 minutes when the battery was at 32% or so). And thats why it says discharging!

8 hours of on screen time is not reasonable. The percentage is not of the battery time, it's how much battery was used by the display.
He needs to show his on screen time by actually clicking on Screen Display.

Correct, his estimation was simply outrageous. There are many factors that determine how much battery the display consumes. The biggest is the brightness at which the display was at the entire time, 0% brightness obviously last much longer than 100% brightness. Also the types of colors being displayed, dark colors on a OLED display drain less battery than bright colors.

I find ways to have better battery life. Obviously if you have brightness at 100% it will kill battery unless you have a better battery regardless

Again....display on time? People always want to show off the best battery reports but never know how. That screenshot means very little, my guess is your phone was deep sleeping 3/4 that time.

Not really sure what is going on with my battery life. after 5 hours I am down to 50%. Is this normal? I am using the new beginning ROM by Tuesday.

5 hour display time!? sick battery life
Lol um yea I usually last about 13 hours total outer charge with moderate/heavy use and using juice defender to disable data while screens not in use..

No about 2 hour display time.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App

Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Well you thought wrong lol it gives an extra couple hours with use and it'll last about 4 days if I barely use out
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
so you get 2 hours display time at 50%...
so you get about 4 hours display time total?
Well all i can say is...
WELCOME~! you have average battery life for the t989! other devices barely break 3 hours! congrats!
2 hours of display time (also depending on how bright you have had it) with 50% left is pretty good.
I'd have to disagree that 2 hours is good, I'd call it subprime. Do some searching on XDA. There are plenty of wonderful tutorials and guides to small things you can do to help it out quite a bit.

i need help reading battery graph

So i would like to learn how to read my battery graph also this is the rom im running atm...
Also my question is how do i fix this?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
fix what?
It looks like your battery took a steep dive. The graph shows at what rate your battery discharges. Since youre on ics, battery life isnt going to be phenomenal. What are you trying to fix?

Why is this happening to me? Screen issue epic 4g

What can cause my screen to use 80+% of my battery I'm running aokp milestone 6 w/ nyan kernel on my epic 4g
Can anyone please help

In 32 minutes, your screen has been on 30 minutes of that time, hence the high percentage... Nothing looks odd about that. If you think it is killing your battery, you should probably look elsewhere like not going to deep sleep, or constant syncing. Need to see better battery stats or cpu spy... If that is the concern.

Well, from your pics, it seems that your screen was on for 30 of the 32 minutes that your phone was on battery. Takes a lot of power to light up a display. Most folks can get by with a days worth of battery with 3-5 hours of screen on time. Some do better, some do worse.

Using battery for the first time

Is it better to gully recharge it before I turn on my phone for the first time or should I drain it down to about 1 % and then recharge it? Or does it not matter? Thanks!

How come? Does it calibrate itself?
The manual says to charge it fully before first time use or long time of no use?

Yes it calibrates itself. these new lithium-ion battery are "smart" battery and they have this little trigger that tells them when the battery is fully charge so they dont get over charged or anything. All you need to do is put the battery and start using the phone.

Im sure li-ion batteries are not to be fully drained. To have long battery life, i think you are to charge as often as possible and never let it fully drain - although the phone seems to check voltage and forcefully shuts down when the battery is really low.
Yeah it really doesn't matter.. And it's really never good to let your battery drop to 1%..I try to never let my lithium ion battery go below 10 if I'm near a charger

Yes a fully drained battery isnt as good as charging like around 5% or so but theres no calibration needed, just put the battery and do your thing.

4.2 Daydream and it's effect on battery

Daydream sounds awesome. I have it displaying the clock while it's charging. My questions is, how much drainage is it doing to the battery while the screen is on?
For instance, if i had the screen completely off, I would have reached 100% in 1 hour rather than 1.5 hours since I have day dream working...?
So how much drainage?

What concerns me more than charging rate is screen degradation, AMOLED screens degrade over time so I wouldn't keep my screen on if I wasn't using it

I think it was LG's choice and I think LCD is cheaper.

Are any of the daydreams even static? I assumed that the reason the clock bounces around is to avoid things like burn-in.
The standard one is static, some of the third party ones are not. I really wouldn't worry it too much.

Check again, the standard daydream clock is not static, at least the digital one isn't.
i lost my original charger!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
it isn't just about burn in... amoled pixels do degrade over time like another user said, and this is a dangerous way to screw up your screen much quicker.
not a good feature to use on our phone imo
It takes a long time for that to happen there are plenty of people still rocking a Galaxy S1 and the screen is fine but I'm not saying there's no one with problems but I doubt it would mess up by using daydream
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Ya, the digital clock is not static. However, I would worry more about the navigation bar because that thing is gonna stay in landscape mode and I already got a nav bar burn-in in portrait.

depends, is it on overnight? Say you sleep 8 hours that's 8 hours extra the pixels are on per day.
Do the math, it would add up quickly
burn in only occurs when you have an static image in the same place all the time.. daydream move the clock around the screen every few seconds, and with the black background most of the pixels of the screen are off anyway.
so no, there is no danger using daydream.

I'm not talking about burn in....
do you not know about the degradation of amoled pixels over time?
you could end up with dead/stuck pixels a lot earlier than expected.
