How do I disable automatic login on GTalk? I noticed that it's one of the things that eats up battery. All other versions had the option and I can't find it here
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Don't think you can but usually only logs in upon boot up otherwise its logged out I thought.

Ugh... I guess I'll have to get used to this.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Don't know if you can disable auto login but you can sign out in GTalk's settings. (Top right menu within the program.. .)

Just log out. It won't log you back in until you tell it to.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
couldn't he just disable the app?

If you log out then gtalk never logs back in even after reboot.

Are there any working Text-to-Speech apps out yet for ICS?
Also, is there a way to only receive notifications from certain apps ONLY when a wifi connection is on? I want to save my data.
I don't see why existing TTS engines wouldn't work - I use SVOX classic on ICS, just as I did on Gingerbread.
It's only a free trial and the comments said it didn't work on ics. I'll keep searching

Received answer on wifi question. Anyone regarding the TTS? I'm wondering if I should move this question to the development thread..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Any updates on when TTS will be available for ICS? I can't find anything on it.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Google has had TTS built in for a long time. What are you trying to do... just change the voice?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Go into data usage, look at your apps that use most data an click on it. Select a limit for data usage an click restrict data. Great feature of ICS

I'm trying to have my texts read out loud to me when they come in but it doesn't work. It only works when I turn "talk back" on but then my phone speaks everything, lol.

Download Vlingo from the market. Put it in in car mode. Turn on safe reader. It'll stay on now until you turn it off. Your prayers have been answered.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
In car mode is on and safe reader is on but it still won't read out loud automatically... Please help!!! Lol.. Do I have to disable ringtone or something? My default messaging application is Handcart if that makes a difference.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Handcent* Sorry

Resolved. Cleared Handcent as default messaging application to correct previous issue. Thanks for everything everyone!!!!

I woke up this morning and suddenly my Nexus started using the tts to tell me the name of apps I open and links I click on in the browser.
I've had a look round the settings a few times but can't find any way to turn this off.
Can anyone help?

I have a strange issue. I've noticed this on my android phones in the past and now my incredible 2 and its really annnoying. For some reason it does not let me know half the time if I have a new gmail mail in my inbox.
I.use the stock gmail app and I have to go into the all, manually refresh, and then if will alert me of any gmail.
Case in point I had 4 emails sent last night and never got them till I went In and manually refreshed just now.
How can I fix this? It was working fine before and now nothing.

Open Gmail. Hit your settings button or menu botton. Hit the settings tab then you should see three options one being your email adress. Hit it and there should be your sync Gmail it will say on or off. Yours probably says off so turn it on.

Its called messaging+Google voice. Its just like stock, but it uses Google voice for sending texts.
Sorry if this has been posted before

You can already send texts with Google now... I don't get it
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
It uses the default messaging interface as oppose to the Google voice interface, which is horrible. I like this app so far. Its helpful because I don't have a text messaging plan and only use Google voice for messaging.
5 bucks...sold!

Doesn't seem to be working for me. Whenever I try to send any text via Google Voice I get a red exclamation error.

You can't initiate texts from the stock messaging app that go out under your GV number.

Like the Idea, but not sure I trust an App that can monitor messages sent to/from my phone, and also can request authentication tokens from my google account... Or an App developed by someone that can not even provide a valid Developers website link.
Not a fan of 3rd party apps that require access to this type of information.
And if you Google the Developer "DreamBig, Inc" it's all about College related stuff...
It's been working as well as expected for me. Not too worried about privacy concerns. It uses Google services to access Voice and not your username and password. But thank goodness for the paranoid/careful.

I had that issue in the beginning also. Then I went under Google voice and unchecked notification and the message asking permission to log in through Google voice appeared.

Yeah, no idea. I must be doing something else wrong somewhere. I have personally NEVER been able to get text via Google voice to work. I've tried numerous times and just get frustrated because I know its supposed to work.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Also... As you can see in the screenshot, I don't even have an option in the dropdown for texts.

Did you use the new "Messaging" app beside the already existing stock "Messaging" app?

yeah, but this isn't too important for me. The risk/reward factor is too high for me, for an unknown company to access my Google account, to do nothing really new for me. besides, I have unlimited texts.

App works great and since I use Google voice as my main number this is a function I have always wanted.
But now reading the couple posts I am paranoid and debating on uninstalling.

It passedv the Google tests, but it's just not important to me, if you use gvoice exclusively, then maybe it's worth a shot.
