installing (more information)
ok i'll be breaking this down to 2 parts ( all different types of installs)
(this might be able to carried for to other ROMs but it mainly written for the HELLfire ROM)
FRESH INSTALL:
a "fresh install" or first install, happens when the user want to install the ROM but their current ROM is different. it almost always requires wiping. the user can use the latest full ROM ( it will always be a full ROM unless other wise said). example the user can do a fresh install with v1.1 (because it is a full ROM) but they can't do it with v1.1.1 ( because it isnt a full ROM but only updates specific parts)
UPDATE INSTALL:
an update install happens when a user is running a previous version of the ROM and wants the latest and greatest. It can be updated with a single flash without having to wipe a single thing (again this was meant for the HELLfire ROM, other ROMs might be different)
***other important information***
If the latest version is not a full ROM, but you are doing a fresh install, the user will have to download the latest full ROM flash it, then flash the update ROM.
always check the MD5sum before flashing to make sure you have a good download!
check the change log to see if it is a full ROM or an update ROM
on the HELLfire ROM x.x.x = update ROM, x.x = full ROM (remember fresh installs can only be done on a full ROM)
any thing else you think should be included in this please PM me!

Nice to see some more roms. Good job.

ummm what?!? (i mean i get what you are saying) but when i do a fresh install to takes the setup screen then after that it says 2 updates available why do i have it and not you?!?!?!?! the recovery.img isnt touched so thats on you...
what do you mean by no access to sd cards?

No "my files folder" I guess I could've went to a file sharing site and picked up something but other explorer type apks have issues seeing external sd card. When you boot up, you get play store? Do you also have my files folder? On version 1.0? I mean I can try and flash again but maybe version 1.1 would be the way to go? And by recovery I meant on the power button, this phone doesn't like the ole volume up, home, then power button combo, lol... Also, can't wait to see the finished kernel, is it gonna be oc'able and if so what frequencies?
P.S. I'm a flashaholic but these 600MB+ roms are crazy on sprint lol took 3hrs to dl...

I hope I don't dl this rom and install it to answer everything you just barked about.
Edit: My GS3 has thoroughly enjoyed the volume up+home+power button combo. Gets me to recovery every time.

[NEW][ROM] tFC24 Rooted. Deodexed. Themed. Tweaked

First of all I would like to extend my thanks to sextape for posting leak.
His posts for past months have helped us all and we had a wild ride with all these leaks.
Also I would like to thank Crawrj's & Maddoggin's for hotspot hack.
Thank Team Rogue for repacked FC24 kernel with CWM recovery
Thank Tiffany84 for initial ICS theme she made for us.
Thank jt-hatch for playing guinea pig and testing rom for whole day for me.
Now back to subject.
I present tFC24 roms.
I made it in 2 versions.
Both roms are:
Striped, rooted, deodexed with touch of ICS, hotspot hack and same build.prop tweaks.
v0.1.0 is pretty much same as all my previous FC roms.
It's based on FC24 build and comes with FC24 repacked kernel.
v0.1.1 comes with few inverted apps from here
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/15092-invertedtotally-inverted-apps-3-24-google-voice-updated/
Our thanks to travp624 from rootzwiki.
I've included inverted play store, google voice, google+, youtube, mms ...
I have tried to include gmail, email etc but it breaks something when included in rom.
You can try to flash once rom is installed. All apps are available in link provided.
Few screen shots of inverted apps:
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So for both roms:
1. Touch of ICS theme by Tiffany84
2. Changed touch sound to GNex. (thanks Ben's for help and research)
3. Changed settings background to GNex scaled grey (thanks Ben's for help and research)
4. Removed boot sound
5. Added enhanced Camera.apk (thanks to Calkulin, KCRic and little bit to me)
6. Removed all system camera sounds. Camera is completely silent photo and video
7. Added modified gps.conf to system/etc for better, more accurate and faster lock (I hope)
8. Added build.prop tweaks for camera quality, battery life, overall responcivness, faster dial out, less black screen after phone call, deeper sleep, wifi scan interval. I think some more but can't recall all.
9. FC24 Team Rogue Repacked kernel (thanks to SH and the team for fast repack and all work they do for us)
10. I know did something else. If you figure it out let me know I'll add to OP.
11. I made CRT animation optional and you can find ON/OFF zip files under Misc. Stuff in my signature.
12. Added app to switch between MTP and USB storage.
Installation instructions:
1. Download rom zip file.
2. Download modem zip file (optional)
3. Copy files to root of your sd card
4. Boot into recovery.
5. Do a NAND back up (optional but strongly recomended).
6. If you still running any GB build flash/apply Calkulin's format all zip. This step can be skipped if you running ICS builds. I have tried flashing this rom over FC18 ICS rom and had no problems.
7. Apply rom zip in recovery.
8. Apply modem zip in recovery.
9. Boot to system.

I liked what Tiffany84 presented for FC07 and I'm using it ever since.
I didn't even try any other theme so I won't be a good person to talk about differences.
Hot doggity dig... glad it's up and out; I've been absolutely loving this rom all day. Can't believe it took me this long to notice the release had been posted.
Thanks for the efforts you put into making such great roms, and providing so many options, agat!

As stated in OP only few of inverted apps played nice when added to rom /system/apps.
So everything should be installed separately until I figure out why are they crashing when you flash them with rom.

You think system apps like Gmail will work if placed into data folder?
If yes, do I need to delete same app from system/app folder to avoid interference?

I've run this rom, and ICS4ICS on Calk's ICS ROM (but not since FC07). IMHO agat & tiffany84 have nailed all the visual impact and what-I'm-looking-for of ICS4ICS but somehow it seems... lighter. Maybe that's b/c it's baked into agat's ROM rather than flashed over the top of a stock/GB looking ROM. At any rate, agat's ROM (with tiffany84's theme) + go launcher ex + ICS go launcher theme => fabulosity for me. (note -- fan of go launcher from the gb days; haven't yet been converted by nova b/c I'm too lazy and have too much time in on putting together my go setup; about to try out apex and possibly trebuchet this weekend tho b/c I hear they are good and that apex has a lot of configurability...)

There is no wipe needed. As with stock notrip root.
Went and read the link in your sig. Will the compression involved here decrease image/audio quality? I may have misread/misinterpreted it, but it looked like it would.
Good day to have this out with att finally getting it nationwide there's about to be a flood of people a flood of new people and a flood of new development my kernels got some issues but will be ready soon I'd imagine entrathpy will be getting his sIII today so I may just wait

Thanks but no thanks...
Just sayin'... :cyclops:
yah an hour for a ROM download is way to long...
It honestly didn't take too long to download once I got a working link.

It should also be noted that it's not a full /system folder and you probably need to be on a stock ROM (not that we really have anything else at the moment) before flashing.
D/l from Deposit Files and took 25m.
I'm on a custom rom now, whats the best way to flash this one?
You can flash over your custom ROM. I did couple of times already. It doesn't wipe many things, just updates apk files and jar files.
Get over big sizes of downloads- stock ROM is humongous. I cannot wait for CM9 or AOKP to be ported.
New ROM is coming - with kernel, framework fix, init.d script, phone with nonincreasing volume. But stock will be kept too. Besides somebody already sharing stock.

Quick noob question...
I rooted my S3 through Odin and am running the Diet ICS rom right now. I want to try yours but the process of flashing seems to be different compared to the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket ( no wipes/partition/cache stuff).
So can i just download this rom, put it on my SD card and unzip the file? Or do i need to flash a stock rom and then unzip this rom over it? ( i saw that mentioned somewhere)
Thanks in advance. I came from an iSuck 4S so you guys have been amazing and i cant thank the mods and devs enough:good:

The process when changing Roms should always be:
1) Download Rom onto sd card internal/ or external
2) boot into recovery such as cwm
2.5)****make a nandroid backup!!*****
3) start your voodoo ritual everyone does something different at this point to get a clean flash but the standard tends to be wipe data/factory reset (erases all your apps and data, yes it sucks) wipe cache and then wipe dalvik(under advanced)
4) then goto flash zip navigate to where downloaded Rom zip is and flash it.
5) if flashing kernel flash after Rom
6) reboot and profit
For this Rom it wouldn't hurt to flash back to stock first... let it boot up then go back in recovery and flash this

i downloaded this rom last night and when it booted up for the first time, it was in korean and there was no other option to change to english in the drop down menu... :/

[ROM] Dark Passion - Unofficial ParanoidAndroid 2.54 | 4.1.2 | Fully Inverted |STABLE

Three Musketeers Proudly Present.....
Welcome to the Darkside....
Dark Passion - Unofficial Paranoid Android 2.54
This started as me compiling Paranoid for a few friends and then after a while it was getting modified everytime I compiled it, to add more and more 'Inverted Apps' and its got to the stage now where its all just about inverted.... when one of my friends suggested we should release it because it was 'good enough' we thought why the hell not...
As stated this is compiled from source by me. Its just the plain compile, with no cherry picks (yet). We have added various things and taken some out to make it better for us and we will be releasing as is. Now this is made for our little circle of friends and I will not be changing it from how it is now... So please don't ask for the old apps to be added back. If you want a plain standard version of Paranoid, use Molesarecoming official version as that is the benchmark we all try to rise too
I will endeavor to update at least once a week, and update the inverted apps accordingly. Some of the inverted apps I use like Google+ will obviously try to update through Play Store when they are updated. If you update it will revert it to normal, so just simply turn off auto updates for them

As with all threads there are always a few that wonder how to flash and the question gets asked again whenever something goes wrong during or after flashing.............Hence where I come in. For those who dont know me I have been a long time poster and user on XDA. I did most of my best work on the forgotten Sensation XL device. I assure you the the procedure I am about to post is used by me and my friends without issues or drawbacks
1. as we all know the rom and inverted gapps zipped folders need to be on the sdcard and you can do this in many ways but I recommend download on to pc then copy to phone via windows explorer. also can download via phone using your device internet connection directly.........however with the latter procedure I have received many symlink errors when flashing zip
2. once rom is on sdcard then reboot into recovery. this also can be done in many ways. Pressing and holding vol up and vol down and power together will launch a bootloader menu from where you can navigate to recovery using vol up button then press power button to select. another way to boot into recovery made simple if you using a custom rom is by long pressing power button to bring up advanced power menu and choosing reboot. this will present you with reboot normal, bootloader or recovery options so choose recovery and hit ok. one final way is by installing 3rd party app from market like quickboot etc.
these steps in recovery were performed using Clockwork Mod for Nexus
3. once in recovery go to backup/restore menu and perform a nandroid backup. essential step if you may wish to revert to previous rom for whatever purpose
4. in recovery you need to perform a full wipe by choosing wipe data/factory reset option from recovery
5. in recovery now choose wipe cache
6. in recovery choose advanced options then select wipe dalvik cache. you can also choose to wipe battery stats and fix permission but not manditoy
7. in recovery then choose mounts and storage menu then choose format system
8. in recovery choose install from sdcard then choose zip from sdcard then select DARK PASSION zip to install the rom
9. now choose inverted gapps zip and flash also
10. in recovery choose reboot system now
Enjoy the rom..............1st normally takes from 5 to 10 mins.
I have tried to make these steps as simple as i can and hope that this helps a few with questions about flashing. thanks for having a look at what we have to offer

Yea but hopefully very different. We have no choice but use inverted gapps as that's STD but we have trolled xda and the web to find more inverted goodies. In this rom we have more inverted apps and changed keyboard. We are also gonna be adding more inverted apps as we find them. PA on its own is very solid so we didn't mess with that at all just went with what we liked and shared it will you guys.

The awkward moment when there are two inverted roms; both based on paranoid. :what:
Anyway I like your work, will flash in the next few hours

Flashed this last night. Email/Corporate email kept force closing. Otherwise it ran good. I had to go back to Eclipse Rom due to the need for my work email. Thoughts?
Were you using exchange? Because having just done a little reading, I have found that there is a problem with exchange on the inverted apps, apparently there is a fix so I'm going to find it and add it to next release.
I've tested the normal email connecting through pop3 and that works fine on mine, but I haven't got an exchange account to test with, so I'll have to rely on you guys to let me know if it works...
Yes, I was using exchange.
Thanks for looking into this, I liked the rom.
No problems, its what I'm here for
Think I've found the fix, it will be added to the next release. I'm going to flash the rom tonight and check everything else is ok

[ROM][VLDLK4] seeARMS' ROM v0.3 (12/29)

12/29/12 - v0.3 is out. Added extended power menu, 15 toggle mod, and replaced the stock email with AOSP email.
12/27/12 - v0.2 released. A minor update: S Suggest was removed and OTA updates added
12/19/12 - v0.1 - Initial release!
Hello XDA.
Welcome to seeARMS' custom stock ROM. This ROM is based on the official VLDLK4 Bell release. The purpose of this ROM is to provide a functional, high-performance custom ROM with excellent battery life, without sacrificing any features which turn your smartphone into just a phone. This ROM is certainly not a barebones ROM with the majority of apps removed; nor is it a feature-packed ROM with a ton of unnecessary things bogging down your phone. Instead, this ROM opts to be in the middle: it provides a good balance of features and performance.
If you have any questions before, during, or after flashing this ROM, please read the first few posts, as I'll try to be answering the majority of common issues / questions users may have. If, after reading them, your question remains unanswered, then please post in this thread ensuring you're as detailed as possible.
Also, if you have any feature requests, please feel free to let me know.

Note: If you'd like to install any of these removed apps, see the 2nd post for instructions.
If you like this ROM and are interested in supporting me, then a simple "Thanks" would suffice. Also, please try to help out others on the XDA forums - we were all newbs once, and it can be quite overwhelming, being introduced to everything Android.
Oh, and the mandatory, "like my work, buy me a beer" way of supporting would also be cool.

This lag is simply Samsung Voice checking to see if you're going to press the home key twice. To get rid of this lag, open S Voice (double press the home button), go to Settings, then uncheck "Open via the home key".

Thanks for the update and the effort for releasing another great ROM for S3 users. Do we have the AOSP email included in this ROM?
this looks promising Going to give it a go since the current rom I have is no longer being updated. wishlisting the 3/4 reboot menu features too
Excellent another Canadian rom eh?Gonna be flashing right away.Cant wait for the updates.
ROM is running great. When I flashed it, I lost my recovery somehow. The other thing I noticed, it is the i747M base. I didn't notice it in the OP but all is running good. Thanks for your work.

Something S4 this way comes
V2 & V3 are based on Baked Black Bean by sniper, located here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2123198
V1 is based on dastin1015's CM10.1 ROM- Wild For The Night located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2099881
||Kernel Source||https://github.com/Team-Hydra/android_kernel_samsung_smdk4210(for both ROMs, thanks dastin1015)
It is an AOSP ROM with the flavor of SGS4 and the performance and battery life of the ExtendROM Series. The look of the S4 and the feel of AOSP. Best of both worlds.

TROUBLESHOOTING/BUG REPORTING/FAQ
Q - I flashed the ROM and now I have an issue, what should I do?
A - Don't freak out! Pull a logcat and paste it on to pastebin and provide me a link in the thread to it. Along with the logcat, please provide me with as much information as possible. Things that you would think could help me fix this issue.....i.e what version of the ROM you are on, what you flashed (mods, tweaks, etc.), what happened, what did you do prior to the bug/issue.
Q - How do I pull a logcat?
A - Check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238
Or this one:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274119
Q - Do I have to wipe before flashing??
A - YES, (unless otherwise noted) even if you're coming from a previous version of this ROM. By doing a FULL (system, preload, data, cache, dalvik) wipe each time, it not only avoids any issues that come from not wiping BUT if you report an issue, I then know that is a legit problem and not because of lack of wiping.
Q - I see (Insert developer name) has fixed this or has added this feature, are you going to do the same?
A - NO! No disrespect to that developer but I have not and will not keep up with what other developers are doing.
1. Download ROM and GApps
2. Place ROM and GApps on SD
3. Reboot into a safe recovery

6. Flash ICS Modem if not already on one (any of these will do. FL24 and FI27 are the newest ICS modems)
YOUR DATA WILL NOT WORK ON GB27, GB08, GA10 OR ANY OTHER JELLY BEAN MODEM. YOU MUST USE AN ICS MODEM FOR YOUR DATA TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!! AND GUESS WHAT THEY'RE ALL LOCATED BELOW... CLICK THE BUTTON. And there really is no "best" modem to use, most have little difference between them... Please refrain from asking, try them and see what works best for you. Everyone will have different experiences.

How to Update Profile and PRL:
YOU MUST DO THIS AFTER FLASHING A NEW MODEM TO ENSURE YOU HAVE DATA AND MMS WORKING.
First, make a backup of your current ROM. Then you need to get on TouchWiz ROM. Doesn't matter which, then wipe cache and flash the modem ( do it again if you've already flashed the ROM), then update PRL AND PROFILE. It will reboot itself. Then restore your backup and you should be good (or flash the ROM if you are doing this in the right order).
You can also update Profile in Settings/About Phone/Sprint System Updates
7. Flash ROM
8. Flash GApps
9. Reboot
10. Let ROM settle in, the boot takes a few minutes... Be patient, grab a sandwich.

BATTERY LIFE DEPENDS ON THE USER USING THE TOOLS PROVIDED IN THIS ROM (and below in the Extras section). IT'S NOT GOING TO DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU. SCREEN ON TIME AND A VARIETY OF OTHER FACTORS ALSO NEED TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION AS WELL. IN THE END IT IS UP TO THE USER TO MAXIMIZE BATTERY LIFE, NOT THE ROM. IF YOU ARE HAVING SEVERE BATTERY DRAIN, SEARCH "WAKE LOCKS"... Better Battery Stats included in this ROM is a good tool for figuring out the cause of wake locks.

PLEASE be respectful and REMEMBER that this is FREE! I do NOT work for you! I have NOT and WILL NOT ask for donations for any of this! Also please don't ask for ETA's or expect updates based on other things i.e. someone fixed this or whatever the case may be! I do this when I have the free time. I have a wife, kids, job, and life outside of xda that comes first. This is my hobby! So let's all play nice, get along, and have a good time. I appreciate all constructive criticism and suggestions. Workarounds & Fixes
If you are having problems with MMS:
1. Did you update Profile and PRL after flashing the modem? (See Step #6 under instructions. Click "show content" or "spoiler" button.)
2. Did you try sending one to yourself? That usually kickstarts it. It takes a few minutes sometimes.
3. Try rebooting into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflash the ICE CREAM SANDWICH modem (the one for your carrier if not on Sprint) of your choice. Then give it about 10 mins. Try sending to self again. If not post logcat in thread.

Yeah I think this was the fastest I have ever put together a ROM, cuz I knew exactly where I was going with it for once... Took me around 6 hours once I got started.

Maybe its time for you to try out some theming. Everything else seems to come easy for you.

Been doing this for awhile, check out the EVO Shift forums, I don't even know how many ROMs I have there (my guess is 12). Theming is one thing I am NOT good at. I know how, just not good at it. I work better with code than images.

Me neither, I'm not creative in that aspect either... I'm more of a "big picture" type person.
We could use u over in the t989 T-Mobile s2 forums so I don't get jealous of my gf's d710 all the time lol

I'm sure they can all be easily ported over as long as there is a decent base ROM... I won't do it tho, been down that road, I only do ROMs I can test now. So if anybody over there wants to port any of my ROMs, have them shoot me a PM and I will say yes. I just have a couple ground rules regarding the OP. Sharing is caring.
D710 Ftw,!!!!!!
In other news..... What was your #1 reason for creating this ROM bilgeryan?
