Occasionally, at seemingly random times, my phone will wake up and the screen will turn on, then back off. Sometimes its only once, other times it will blink on and off several times. According to the task mgr nothing is running. When it happens the GPS indicator isnt coming on, nor is the data indicator.
Here is my setup:
Darkside GB 2.7, kernel from the ROM, LC8 modem, installed fresh after a full wipe yesterday.
Darkside Cache wipe
Factory reset
Full darkside wipe
Flash ROM
let sit 10 minutes and reboot
Install all apps from market, did not restore data on anything
Reboot and cache wipe/fix permissions again
Any ideas?

hey anyone with the most recent DC rom have problems with the camera? sometimes it will fail to start, like it will turn on than power off the app. To fix it either power cycle the phone or use a task manager and end all.
I did then I wiped and reflashed and it was gone.
damn, not really wanting to wipe. but so you just wiped the rom form phone, anythin with dalvik cache or anything? than just flashed the rom again?
I've been having a problem with my phone hot rebooting every 30 seconds to 5 five minutes. It's driving me up the wall. I can barely even use it, since half the time I have no data, and the other half by the time I can get anything open, the phone is rebooting.
I've tried:
- Changing ROMs (Juggernaut 2.5 to 2.6 and back to 2.0; Bombaridier; EagleBlood; Streamlined)
- Changing kernels (stock, Jugs, Bullet, whatever kernels come with the ROMs mentioned above)
- pulling the SD card
- formatting the SD card
- fixing permissions
- factory/data reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik every time I flash
One thing I did notice... the last ROM I tried was EagleBlood, and it was fine for half a day. I charged it overnight, and, thinking my problem was solved, I decided to calibrate the battery. After wiping battery stats, it's rebooting over and over again.
I just unrooted and took it back to stock to see if that does anything.
In the meantime, any ideas? Please help... I'm getting ready to tear my hair out.
normally the reboots are due not Wiping, but you did say, you Wiped, so it should be fine
did you OVER Volted the CPU at any point?
No. I overclocked and undervolted when on Juggernaut/Jugs, but at no point did I ever overvolt.
how aggresive were your overclocks. because that could be the problem itself
or if the kernel is undervolted and the cpu's dont like it .
Max 1.89/min 384 and UV -2500 when on Juggernaut, but after I started having the problem, I didn't even install SetCPU anymore. When I was on EagleBlood, it wasn't OCed or UVed at all, didn't have SetCPU installed, and it still rebooted all the time.
OK, I've been unrooted for a couple of hours and no rebooting. But being unrooted sucks! I don't even want to think about re-installing all my apps without Titanium Backup.
So I just Odin flashed CWM and am flashing the SGH-T989 // UVKID // Stock // Deodexed // Rooted //Busybox ROM so I can at least run TB and get all my apps back. Then we'll see what happens.
I'm afraid to calibrate my battery though... Haha... I think the FIRST time I started having this problem was after a battery stats wipe. And then after running EB with no problems for several hours, after wiping battery stats... BOOM! It started happening again. But why would wiping battery stats make this happen?
your using CWM for everything? or RM?
CWM. I've never used RM... Should I?
OK, after restoring everything with Titanium Backup, it's doing it again. So it's gotta be an app... right...? How on earth do I figure out which one?
this is why i never use Titanium backup
your going to have to install each app one at a time to see which is causing conflict
I just have the same problem, keeps rebooting basically every 30 seconds to a minute... and it is not rooted, no new apps but I did update the firmware via Kies in the morning, it only started rebooting in the middle of the night, had to shut it down to be able to sleep.
No idea what to do...
The phone is useless as it is.
Any hints are welcome, thanks.

I finally got GPS to work. Here is what i did.
I used Mobile Odin (or you could use Odin from a PC) to flash the EL26 stock CWM kernel to get CWM back.
When the phone rebooted I HELD The Volume+ and the POWER button at the same time until i got into CWM.
Then I wiped everything and cache and dalvik
Flashed a GingerBread Rom like Blazer 4.1.
Rebooted
Got a GPS lock in the maps app. WITH THE MAP APPLICATION STILL OPEN.
- Held the Volume- Button and Power Button until I got into the DOWNLOAD MODE. Then clicked on Volume+
-Plugged the phone into the computer via USB
-Opened ODIN
-Flashed EL26 stock CWM kernel AGAIN
-When thats done the phone will reboot. When it does HOLD the Volume+ and the POWER button at the same time until i got into CWM
-Wipe Data/Factory, Cache, Dalvik.
-Flash ROM
-Flash Gapps
-Wipe Cache and Dalvik again
-Flash Kernel
-Reboot
When you are all set up after the phone boots up. You may need to download the GPS STATUS app
---Click on
-TOOLS
-MANAGE A-GPS STATE
-RESET
THEN the GPS will work. It did for me.
GOOD LUCK.

Honestly with ICS all you have to do is flash back to gingerbread, get a gps lock, then flash back to ICS. This worked for me every time. Fix I talked about was posted a couple times and is a known fix since the original Epic. Actually it was a fix for the original Epic's leaks and tested and proved to work with our phones.
I'm not trying to be mean but, you have more steps than is necessary.

This is great but everyone hhas listed this in almost every thread.
Also, I use gps assit, gps fix, gps status and I always get a lock.
I just turn off the gps.. turn it back on and reset the gps from GPS Status, then download the agps data and get 10/10 sat hit...
Honestly the reciever isn't as sensitive as HTC devices so indoors is finicky.. but I always get a lock outside.

This is the third time this has happened, when my phone battery completely dies I can not simply turn on the phone after it has charged. It will simply be stuck on the boot screen for hours on end if I let it. The only way I have been able to get my phone usable again is from a reinstall of the stock ROM or a custom ROM. I have tried wiping cache, but I will still get stuck on the boot screen until either the phone dies or I pull the battery.
Normal behavior or a defective phone?
Wich rom are you on? Try flashing another kernel.. I had that issue with stock jb.. Flashed francos and the issue its gone..

First time it happened I was completely stock 4.0.3. Second time I was on a slightly modified 4.0.4 ROM with a franco kernel. Now it happened on 4.1 w/franco kernel. I will try flashing the same kernel over and see if that helps.
Try doing a fresh install meaning wipe data/factory reset.. Wipe cache /wipe dalvik and don't forget to make a backup of your apps and data just in case

A full reinstall (wipe data/factory reset) is the only way to get out of it it seems like. But this shouldn't be normal behavior, right? Happened 3 times in the 2 months I have had the phone, no other Android device I have owned does anything like this.
I had similar issues with the GSM model. Along with when switching Bluetooth on it does a soft reboot. I suggest sending it back under warranty as it is most likely faulty hardware if the software changes makes no difference.
Alright so im having a lot of problems. Usually when I turn off my phone and it boots up it'll usually freeze on that rainbow circle screen so I turn it off and back it then it loads fine no big deal but yesterday I turned it off and tried turning back on and now it freezes every single time. All day yesterday I kept booting into recovery and kept restoring roms, Ive factory reset it, wiped data, wiped dalvik cache and now when iI turn it on I have no apps. The screen is jus black but the pulldown bar is still there and I can't download apps or apks. I get error 24 every single time. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm using moar ROM BTW if that helps. Also one more thing, when my phone starts up now it always says android.process stopped and systemUI stoppes
I have pics but apparently can't post them..
I would try downloading a stock rom... do a fresh install. .. meaning factory data reset, wipe cache, dalvik cache, and just because of the problems I'd format my internal memory too. Are you running 4.3 version of moar or the 4.1.2? If the problems continue there may be something else corrupted
