I made a pretty big noob mistake while attempting to install the Cyanogenmod 9 alpha 9 onto my HTC One X.
I flashed the boot.img without installing the cm-9-20120627-alpha-9-endeavoru.zip onto the phone's memory. Now the phone is stuck either in a bootloop or, when I erase the cache, stuck at the boot screen.
What can I do? I'm using a Mac, so apparently flashing a RUU won't work.
My version is 1.29.401.11.

My problem is that I had completely forgotten to put the zip onto the sdcard. I can't flash it from recovery because it's not there.
I also tried flashing it to the sdcard using fastboot, but I get an error that says "FAILED (remote: not allowed)"

You have to go into recovery, and tick mounts & storage. At the bottom look for the mount USB mass storage function.then copy the ROM to the phone. Unmount it after that and you can flash it.

You just do this turn of your phone connect to pc and wait for the driver installation.. then go to the adb or fastboot folder.. then type adb devices in the command prompt.. if the driver is installed properly it'll show.. then mount sd card with adb shell mount /sdcard
And copy paste the Rom or kernel module with adb push <path to file> /sdcard this may take a while depends on the size and speed.. hope this should help. Hit the thanks if it worked

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying (noob and all). Also, I'm using a Mac, so I don't think I'm supposed to install any drivers.
I'm pretty much at the point where I would settle for just a working phone. How can I get it back to working condition? I'm finding this phone to be far more difficult to work with than the Galaxy Nexus. But then again, I'm not sure I know what I'm doing anymore.

I have a Galaxy Nexus that after updating is stuck in a boot loop just recycling the Google logo. There is no ADB access as a result.
Is there anyway I can save my photos? Thanks!
You should be able to do is using fastboot to get into CWM - you can then mount the sd card and copy off your data
Like Eddy said. Via fastboot, boot up CWM, either you have it flashed or not.
From CWM, you can access the phone via adb over USB.
In a "adb shell", you can .tar.gz up the stuff you like (or your entire /sdcard). Afterwards you can "adb pull" that off the phone.
Requires quite a bit off commandline, but it's not hard, just cumbersome. If your data is important enough, it's definitely worth it.

You can't mount /sdcard on a Galaxy Nexus.
Like josteink said, boot up CWM, open a command prompt on your computer and type: adb pull /sdcard or adb pull /data/media
That's it. This will pull all your data stored in /sdcard (although I believe it will not keep the directory structure in place). As well, keep in mind that file transfers over adb are very slow, so it may take a while if you have a lot of data...
It's not had CWM Installed. I assume that the process of unlocking the bootloader to install CWM would wipe the phone so that wont work?
Is that correct or am I mistaken?

You can, just not as USB Mass Storage. Mount it in CWM then use ADB to get your data off

Correct. If your bootloader is locked, you're out of luck. Unlocking wipes everything.

Once you boot up CWM, you have adb access to the files on your device. Not sure what "mount" you are talking about, but I have never had to do anything to get files off/on the /sdcard directory other than boot up CWM or my ROM.

You are not mistaken. In that case, try booting to the stock recovery and use the adb pull command.

Boot loop
If you are having difficulty with boot loop, pull the battery. I had the same issue with my N1 didn't wipe dalvik cache after an update. And because of the loop couldn't get the timing for fastboot as the bootloop was not giving an indication of when the keypresses would activate the bootloader.
If you are unrooted and stock then try this:
Put device into the bootloader by holding down Vol Up + Vol Down + Power
use your volume buttons to change options next select (with power button) the fastboot option, after use the ADB instructions from the more knowledgeable members (ADB is somewhat cumbersome.... but it works and has saved my bacon) After wards using the Bootloader you should be able to resore to factory settings and reload your info after.
If you are Rooted with a custom bootloader and rom
same as above to get to bootloader, but then wipe your cache, and dalvik cache. Reflash latest ROM and Gapps. You shouldnt lose anything.
Good luck bud.... your Nexus isn't dead.... only in a Coma.... or a political promise...

Have you tried and gotten that to work in recovery? Although I haven't tried it, I don't think that works in recovery. It is a feature of ICS, so I'm pretty sure you need to be booted into your ROM for it to work.

Hey, I'm running to a similar problem with this guy.
I stupidly reformated my system files without having a rom on my internal sd.
The question is that I'm reading that I can use the adb to push files in but I'm just new to the whole adb.
How would I get my computer to use the adb?
Sorry for such a noob question -_-;
Edit: So it seems from looking around and reading other forums and faq's that I need to have the phone for the adb to be installed.
Is there away around that so that I can access the adb?
Edit2: Nevermind. Fixed it with a toolkit. Sorry to spam

no, I didn't do a backup stupid mistake on my part i know...
If its recognized by the computer, then you're fine.
Download ADB and Fastboot (I've attached the .zip to this post). Unzip it to your home folder, and drop whatever files you need to transfer to your phone in that folder.
Open terminal and direct it to the path of your ADB file (aka, type "cd " and drag the folder into Terminal).
Type:
Code:
./adb devices
and hit return. If you get "devices attached xyzxyzxyzyxz" you're good.
Type:
Code:
./adb push FILENAME.zip /sdcard/
and hit return. If it's a full ROM, it'll take a while, you don't get progress or any notification until its finished transferring.
Then load up your CWM and wipe your data etc etc then flash the ROM.

Read my post. It's "./adb push FILENAME.zip /sdcard/ " . Just go into your recovery and do the ADB command to push the file. Let it xfer then you're good to go.
Mount /data in mounts and storage
then preform this
Code:
adb push name-of-ROM.zip /data/media
I would have said sdcard but sometimes that doesnt work.. at least the last time i've tried it didnt work correctly and wouldnt bring up my "sdcard" at all and had to reboot the recovery and it wasnt there. I know for sure this method works.
OH oops.. Boot into recovery and go into mounts and storage and mount /data sorry..

It'll be visible in CWM when you go select a zip. Just the same as you did the last one. All ADB push does is put it on your phone so you can flash it normally. Exact same as if you moved it via Android File Transfer or download.

I need very SERIOUS help. It's my first time to try to flash my HTC One X. I downloaded all necessary files and proceed to follow below instructions on how to install CM10 on my phone.
The problem is (I know this is very stupid) I forgot to copy the CM10 zip file to my phone's internal storage. I thought I did it already but I only realized that I didn't when I was on Step 14 already. Now I cannot access my phone's internal storage and my phone won't boot anymore. Please help.
1.Copy the CM10 ZIP file to your phone’s internal SD card.
2.On the PC, extract the Fasboot.zip. You will get a folder named Fastboot.
3.Extract the boot.img file from the cm10_endeavoru-ota-eng.noeri-028.zip file and place it into the Fastboot folder.
4.Turn your phone off.
5.Boot to Fastboot Mode. Hold down the Volume Down and the Power buttons until the screen turns on to enter Bootloader Mode.
6.In Bootloader Mode, highlight Fastboot Mode using the Volume keys and select it by using the Power button.
7.Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable.
8.Open a command prompt on your PC and navigate it to the Fastboot folder.
9.In the command prompt, type fastboot devices to check if your device has successfully connected to your PC. Your phone’s serial number should appear on the screen.
10.Flash the boot.img by typing the following in the command prompt:◦fastboot flash boot boot.img
11.Go back to your phone and select Bootloader to go back to the main Bootloader menu.
12.In Bootloader Mode, highlight Recovery using the Volume keys and select it by using the Power button to boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.
13.Select Wipe data/factory reset > Yes.
14.Select Install ZIP from SD card > Choose ZIP from SD card > select the cm10_endeavoru-ota-eng.noeri-028.zip file > Yes.
15.Select Go back > Reboot system now.

I have a problem with WiFi though, but I think it's another topic. Won't hurt if you can help also. LOL
Wifi / Data / GPs issues etc are usually to do with the ROM/Kernel.
So as stated, this is a totally different issue and should be resolved in the relevant thread !!
Glad everything is sorted though !!

Flash this recovery first......
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Rename it to recovery.img and flash it
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter it and go to mounts and storage and tap the last option in the list ! It will mount the sdcard as a mass storage device .....
Then copy the CM10.1, the GAPPS and the VENDOR INSTALLER
http://db.tt/u5FF3jgi
Full wipe already done ? Then install CM10.1 and GAPPS and VENDORS without rebooting the phone !
Then type :
Adb reboot bootloader
(when the command does not work you hold the volume - and the power button pressed until you see the bootloader)
When it boots to the bootloader you flash the boot.img from the CM10.1 rom and then you reboot !
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot
Done !

Hi!
Something is wrong. I have AmonRA 2.0 recovery and I can't mount sdcard, even when I try to use function Flash zip form sdcard I get this message:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0).
(no such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /sdcard.
Well all started yesterday after installing some games from Google Play and then phone caught bootloop. So I use Full wipe I decided to increase the size of the partition EXT. Then I get message Can't mount sdcard. So I delete partition (fat32 and EXT) on pc and create new. Bat still the same. I can't create partition using recovery, because E:Cant mount.....
I delete again partition on pc and put clean card to HTC, still the same problem.
What already tried:
- change Hboot but no results
- I try reinstall AmonRA using Unrevoked 3 - my phone reboots 2 times and then unrevoked want install
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM Windows driver, but I have GSM!
I ran android and go to Settings>Storage Settings and I see "Insert an SD card for mounting", but my card is already inserted!
any ideas? please help

Partition is ok. I can create new. The problem is that the phone will not mount sd card. Is available from the recovery and from the android.
I have 3 different sdcard and it does not matter which is insert, because recovery and android they do not mount.
I can change HBoot, so physically slot is ok. (Function FASTBOOT sees the new hboot file on the sd).
So once again:
The problem is that the phone will not mount sd card. Is available from the recovery and from the android.
Do as @abaaaabbbb63 said.
Since fastboot is obviously working, flash 4ext recovery with fastboot.
Then reboot into recovery and partition/format your sdcard from scratch.
And there's no use in starting a new thread for the same issue, things won't go better!

I had the same problem yesterday, i used the "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" command, and then i flashed the "4eXT Recovery Touch v1.0.0.5 RC9" (links below) recovery to use the "usb unbrick" feature.

You have to :
1. Setup fastboot
2. Turn your phone off. Boot it into fastboot using back button + power button, then plug it into your computer. On your phone it should now say "FASTBOOT USB".
3. Open command prompt (cmd) and enter the command
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Thank you very much guys! It works!:laugh:
Here is what I did:
1. I used these instructions and download ADB&Fastboot.
2. I typed the command "fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" In the window I saw the answer "Finished... OK"
3. Then I download 4EXT-v1.0.0.5-RC9 from the link above i type command "fastboot flash recovery 4EXT-v1.0.0.5-RC9.img".
4. I launched a new recovery and use function "usb unbrick" It shows me 640kb file was missing. So I click FIX and done.
Now sdcard is working.
Thank you again guys. You are amazing!
