Question about the new update - Acer Iconia Tab A100

Hello guys I am a owner of acer a100 ,but once I'have bricked it so I returned in the shop and they recovered for me .
So then I updated to ICS , but now my iconia is turning off by itself and I can't prevent it and when I try to apply the new update I get android icon with in big red color

Are you trying to apply the update manually (update.zip) or OTA? Are you able to boot into bootloader mode? Have you tried resetting the tab (via pinhole)?

Also, how is it powering down by itself? Like random reboot, or gives the Powering down message? If its the powering down message, its a power issue, and you may as well return that one as well, it will only get worse to the point of not turning on at all.

Well when the tablet is locked somehow the battery drain so fast that the tablet turn off , because the battery is empty.
But now when I am trying to remember what I actualy did its kinda hard :Д
I am not sure that I installed the ICS from the updater maybe I puted the ICS Leak from in here.
Will the tablet restore to honeycomb if I hold the button in the hole.(reset)

No, Honeycomb will not be restored (unless you are running it).

OK one more question, how long is is locked before the battery is drained? I've seen my own tab drop 4% an hour while sleeping before. My phone has drained 17% an hour sleeping before. There's always a possible software issue causing it, that's why I'm asking how fast its draining. Make a note of power left, put it to sleep then check back in 30-60 minutes and see how much its dropped.

HTC One X gets out of sleep mode on his own.

My problem is simple, my HTC One X wakes up on his own. It acts as if I had pressed the power button to get to the locker screen.
It's very random. It can go hours without doing it and then it wakes up several times in a row.
What can cause this ?
No one else experiencing this? I had this problem for awhile too.
last time my acer iconia a500 gt tis issue due to wifi sleep policy, may u try google a500 wake/sleep issue...hope tis help
I asked the same question as my HOX would wake up over night whilst being charged.....
What I was told is that HTC built in something that means if the phone is put on charge with less than 50% battery left it will turn itself back on once fully charged!
More than 50% and it won't...
Dunno whether that helps or not?

Which ROM are you using?
I'm on ViperX for the time being and I'm pretty sure it's related to my ROM...but only happens during charging...
In some messages I have seen that if "System Tuner App" is installed it causes something like that... I don't know if it is really related with our issue cause I did not uninstall System Tuner to check it out...

I guess you are talking about HoX's getting on while charging AND when you leave the device OFF...
But the situation here is when you turn off the screen only and leave it like that while charging...

Very strange restart, please check it UPDATED

Hi,
Today I was using my phone as usual, battery was about 75%, then suddenly while I was using Whatsapp the screen went totally black (I have to add that it has happened before, but I haven't been able to identify what is causing it, it might be Android 4.2,franco kernell and maybe switchpro).
I think it has to do with the brightness control becase the screen still detects the touchs, the phone is certanly working, but with a black screen (Brightness to 0% maybe?) so after I remove the battery it boots fine.
But this time, when it was restarting the phone I noticed the battery went down to 20% from 75%! That's impossible to happen (Phone would have melted) because the restart time was under 5 min!
What is more strange is that the phone stayed with 20% for a very long time, it even "autocharged" itself (I know it's impossible)...
What could it be? Help appreciated!
Thanks
Setup is:
Gnex 4.2.1 stock
TWRP recovery (last version)
Franco Kernel 342

yap, I have two gnexs both have had this problem.
I can get a screenshot with vol-down + power
but the screen is totally black.
Yeah I've had this screen of death issue too. I've been trying forever to diagnose what is causing the problem. It happens on any kernel including stock. I factory reset, flashed stock images, everything.
I've narrowed it down to the weather channel app, Adobe flash, csipsimple app, or animations being turned off. Still trying to nail it...
i not have restaert using apk franco updater and set :good:
The sudden battery drop is normal when you pull out the battery. Basically, the phone loses it's calibration on the battery capacity. And that " auto charge" is your phone slowly trying to get a better estimate of your phone battery capacity.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I believe that SODs are a common problem faced by many on 4.2 i personally havn't faced it yet =] running arhd with ak kernel
I was able to reproduce this using Velis Auto Brightness https://play.google.com/store/apps/...SwxLDEsImNvbS52ZWxpcy5hdXRvLmJyaWdodG5lc3MiXQ
After messing with the brightness it wents black screen.
I'm sure this has to do with the autobrigtness!
Best regards

the battery losing charge, and the "autocharge", i see often across many devices. that happens to me when flashing different things over a short time period or when benchmarking and crashing its really not losing the charge, it just thinks it did. the batterystats file becomes inaccurate fairly often, maybe it corrupts. and the autocharge or ghostcharge(usually pretty slow btw) is the batterystats slowly becoming accurate again.

I think you just helped me pin it on animation off. I have had the black screen happen to me 3 times in the 3 days that I disabled animations (stock rooted ROM, developer options). I kept trying to find an app that caused it but the animation off matches the start of my problem.
EDIT: Well, animation off isn't the cause since I just had another black screen.

Hi, I just bought a used galaxy tab s 10.5 and the battery jump from 20 to 99% in 20 minutes when charging . I started using it at 100% and it shuted down for low battery in 30minutes and I power it on again a it said 75%. How do you thinks is going on with the tablet? Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
Do you know if it's rooted and has a custom recovery. Clear cache and fix permissions in recovery mode
No root
It is not rooted and it have stock recovery. Is there an app to reset battery stats?

try booting stock recovery and do a factory reset.if that don't work than look into rooting it and TWRP so you'll have the option to flash something else or clear the cache and fix permissions
done
I did the factory reset and the permissions fix thrught TWRP but the battery still crazy. What more can I do?
I got the tablet down to 0% battery, to the point that it wouldn't turn on.
Took off the back cover using prying tools and then disconnected the battery, power cycled thrice by holding and releasing power button and then reconnected the battery and let it charge overnight to 100% and now battery life is amazing, don't have those drastic drops anymore.
There are no warranty stickers torn etc involved with doing this so you don't have to worry about voiding it. Just take your time and start at the microsd slot, open the hatch and work your way around slowly. Its difficult first time around because there is adhesive glue as well as clips holding it down. But still very doable without damaging anything.
Here is a link to a battery calibrator for root users
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitula.batterycalibration
There are other calibration apps
Definitely other options before taking it apart [emoji111]
..
I tried with the battery calibration app and nothing. I leave you a screenshot , thats is WHITHOUT any charge, when it shuted out I just turn it on again. What is indexservice?
OK after ready the links below I believe a debloated ROM could solve your problem

List of Roms

I will try a debloated rom because son process called index service is draining the 60% of my battery, but is rare that the tablet shuted down and when I tried to turn in on and it shuted down immediately for low battery, but and enter in recovery mode and leave it on with max brightness and it stay awake for 4 hours!! Even when twrp said that is has only 1%.

Post back to let us know it is after a ROM flash
Can you post a full screenshot of your battery settings. You just posted the graph. Not sure about the index service, but knox drains battery too.
Had the same issue crop up on mine. Did the the battery 0% drain then recharge a few times. And factory format. Now it just randomly keeps restarting (even when on charge now). Called Samsung and they have sent a pack to post it to them to sort I hope.
Now with the debloated rom the crazy battery drops have stop but I'm having random restarts. What's is happening now?
I know it's a lot of work and getting frustrating but let's try Odin back to stock .

Let's try back to stock. Thanks a lot for taking time to help me.

Now with stock rom I still having random restarts and battery drops. I dont know what more to do and I dont have warranty.
I leave it all night on plugged in the charger and it didn't restart but when I started using it, it freezes up and restart.
Now it sounds like a kernel issue .I really dislike that cortex chip to

Note 2 keeps shutting itself

Hello, so I have one a bit strange problem with my Galaxy Note II. The problem is that the phone shuts down by itself randomly. You can't do anything on it unless you restart it by long pressing power button or pull out the battery. The interesting part is that if I have notification I havn't checked my LED keeps blinking even in that "power off" state. So I don't think its actually shutting down. Can anyone relate and help me what is the reason my phone is doing this? I forget to mention I noticed some battery drops in the default battery monitor when this "shut downs" occur. Can it be battery related? Also I'm running stock Android 4.4.2 and no root or what so ever.

Android OS and System suddenly eating battery

Hey everyone,
So i have a stock HTC 10, no custom rom or whatsoever and the battery drain suddenly got very bad. Android OS is on 49% and Android system on 28%. Battery drained 8% over the last hour with 3 mins SOT. I've set back the phone to factory settings and didnt install anything back on it, turned stuff like the GPS location to power saving mode but nothing seems to help. Tons of forum posts also didn't help. I don't want to put a custom ROM on it for now, so i can always send it back to HTC.
One thing that i keep noticing is my CPU usage. Im checking this with the stock android CPU checker and the load is 12.13/13.28/13.68 with only the systemui active. I have forced all apps to stop once but there was no solution. This problem is occuring since mid august. Hopefully somebody is known with this problem.
Edit: running wakelock detector atm

I experienced something similar, funnily enough it was the charger cable causing it. Not sure how or why but as soon as I swapped from the faulty HTC official cable to another cheaper cable the drain stopped. Worth a try

I tried another cable, didnt solve the problem unfortunately.
I'm having a very similar issue. Battery drains way quicker in the last few months (20% in 30 minutes) just from web browsing. A factory reset didn't help me either.
I'm trying safe mode now to see what happens (hold the power button, then tap and hold the "power off" option).
