Strange flashing of screen - HTC One X

Well, I thought I had a fault-free HOX. I received it on Saturday and haven't really used it much because I'm waiting for screen protector and case to be delivered.
I left the phone at home today (on standby) while I went to work. I came back and as I swiped the screen lock off the screen started flashing in multi-colours whenever I touched the screen.
If I didn't touch the screen, it was fine, and soon as I touched the screen it would start flashing in different colours again.
I rebooted the phone, and same problem. I rebooted again, and the problem was gone. I haven't been able to get the problem to reoccur.
Should I return the phone for a replacement, which may or may not have additional problems, or considering the fact the problem hasn't reoccurred, do I just keep the phone?

My Guess was the 'Show Screen Updates' was Enable.
Settings >> Developer Options >> Make sure you unchecked all under 'user interface'.

You got it in one, thanks ;-)
I can replicate the effect by enabling 'Show Screen Updates'.
I think my partner must have been playing with my phone while I was out!
What is this option for?

It happens to me all the time. It's probably because you have a lot of hand sweat and when you touch the screen your sweat gets on it. Just wipe it off with your shirt or something.
Or it could just be that the "show screen updates" option is enabled lol

Tilt 2 freezing when locking phone...

Has anyone else had the problem with the Tilt 2 freezing when locking the phone? It doesn't happen all the time; but every so often, it freezes on me and I have to reset the phone to get it to work again. I haven't come across a solid answer for why it does this, so in the meantime I've reverted the locking mechanism to the Windows classic version, not the Windows default version that comes set on the phone. I do like the idea of the sliding unlocking mechanism, but I don't want to deal with the freezing. Is there a fix for this problem?
You are not the only one. I was wondering if it was S2U2.
I have been leaving my phone unplugged over night the past two nights to get a feel for the battery life. When I go to wake the phone in the morning it was either a blank screen or just the title bar before it froze. I had to reset to get the phone to work again.

I've had bad experiences with S2U2. I had installed S2U2 on my 8525, and I ended up having to do a hard reset. One day, after having to power down and restart the phone, it just wouldn't load. It got stuck in start-up mode. I don't plan to use S2U2 again. I'm not sure if the slide mechanism that comes standard with the Tilt 2 is related to S2U2 or not...
I am wondering if it is a conflict between the NEW WM lock slider and S2U2. I have a corporate exchange, so I have to use the PIN access.
I have the PIN set to appear in one hour if not in use. However, when using the WM slide locker, it ALWAYS reveals the PIN pad. If the PIN access did not appear after every WM slide locker, I would use it.
I changed the settings in for the WM lock to use the classic - thus eliminating the WM slide to unlock.
I will leave it OFF the charger tonight and let you know the results tomorrow.
Switching to WM Classic for the lock screen seems to work.
The screen did not freeze when I went to turn off the alarm this morning.
So the solution to use S2U2 is to change the Lock screen on your device from Default to Classic.

Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, I've done the same thing: switched from default to classic. Thanks again.
Screen Unlock Freezes on Tilt 2
I too had this problem right out of the box. I switched to the Windows Classic as prescribed. However, this prompted me to get out the hand held drill and put a small hole right in the side of the back cover. I found myself having to battle the back cover every time I needed to soft reset, plus I noted the stylus needed to be removed to properly seat the back cover upon reinstall. Now I simply pull out my stylus and stick it in my hole. STOP IT!

Screen Unlock Freezes on Tilt 2
I just recently purchased the HTC Tilt 2 from AT&T on 02/15/2010 and for a few times I can successfully use the screen lock and unlock feature but then it stops working and I have to go press the soft reset button. This is constantly a problem now. When I try to go and unlock my phone it allows me to move the little lock icon to the left or right but the screen remains locked.
I appreciate the suggestions to dumb down to the Classic mode but this is not acceptable for a brand new device. I hope HTC comes out with a hotfix for this soon! We need to make this issue known to HTC so they can begin debugging immediately. Or do I have a defective phone and I need to return my phone?

I have seen a post similar to this pop up multiple times in the past month. This guy was specifically having problems with his mail client.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634213
Personally I have only experienced this issue when the phone was next to my engine getting 400° temps blasted on it. Its hard to say the actual cause of the problem, but it seems in ideal situations (no 2000 e-mails or excessive heat) my phone is free of any freezing or strange behavior.
*edit*
also at the end of that post another user posted a work around that seems to be helping.

After returning my first HTC Tilt 2 phone and I got a second one, I got the same problem again.
I think I found the screen lock bug for the HTC Tilt 2 that I am able to reproduce. The problem is when I enable the Owner Information [Identification information or Notes] to display when the device is turned on and then try to slide the lock icon it will not unlock the phone.
HTC, please look into fixing this bug. Thanks!
Here are the steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Press the Windows logo start key (the second key on the bottom of your phone).
2. Choose Settings.
3. Choose Personal.
4. Choose Owner Information.
5. I populated everything on the Identification tab as well as a note to contact me on the Notes tab.
6. Choose the Options tab.
7. Check mark either the Identification information box or the Notes box.
8. Click OK
9. Now lock your phone by holding down the end call button.
10. Power off your phone.
11. Power on your phone.
12. Try to unlock your phone right away by sliding the lock all the way left or right.
13. You can slide the lock icon all you want but you will never get to unlock your phone.
14. You now need to soft reset your phone by taking the back cover off and using the stylus to press the side reset button. :-(
I hope this makes it into a downloadable bug fix. In the meantime, I have disabled (unchecked) any Owner Info notifications on device power up. I really miss having this on device power up as my old 7 year old Nokia phone was able to do that without a problem.

My TP2 screen often stays on until I manually turn it off

I've had my Sprint TP2 for 3 weeks now. Still using stock wm6.5 rom. I've noticed recently that when a text message comes in and I don't touch the phone the screen will stay on until I manually press the power button in the upper left corner of the phone. We are talking hours here. That can't be good for battery life. I first noticed while my phone sat on the kitchen counter for a few hours while I mowed the lawn. When I came back in teh house the phone was lit up (but dimmed) and the text message shown on the screen was from a few hours earlier. I didn't notice this happening when I first got the phone. I'd assume that when I new text comes in it should display it for a few seconds and if there is no user input the screen should go blank again.
I've also noticed the screen stays on if I start typing a text and then set the phone down without finishing the message. It will stay on indefinately.
As far as I know I havent changed any settings that would cause this. Anyone know how to fix this?
Go to settings/sound & display/backlight and check your settings for "dim backlight if device not used..." and "turn off device if not used for:"
There are two settings for each, for on battery power and also for on external power.

Could've sworn I looked at those settings already. Your advice worked great. Thanks!

[Q] Touch Screen goes nuts after root/bloatware removal?

I recently rooted my phone and removed some bloatware (all backed up btw) mainly the ones on the safe list in the thread posted about it here. I don't know if that is what is causing the following problem, but just to preface that if so.
I noticed it yesterday when I was trying to type something using swype, when I finished letting go the screen started to randomly tap and drag letters without me even touching it. I stopped had to turn the screen off/on to get it to stop. I also notice that if I hold the phone vertically and move it around a bit it starts to drag the home screens back and forth. Also when I am at the phone menu it's hard to tap the exact number I want. If I tap 5 say, it will randomly either tap 5 or 8. It's liek it's not calibrated.
So I go to the display to calibrate it and it kind of sort of alleviates some of the other issues, but I still have inaccurate touces. Is it a program I removed perhaps from htc that is necessary for the screen. Do I need to update the firmware on the rooted one?

Screen flashing red/purple/yellow whenever I touch it

This is very odd and it has happened for no reason. In preparation for unlocking the bootloader, I setup my backup password in Developer Options so I could do adb backup and backup my data. However, RIGHT after I set my new password and got the "!!! New backup password !!!" notification, the screen started flashing bright colors (red, purple, yellow, etc) whenever I touched it. It doesn't feel hot, so I don't think it's overheating, and I've tried turning the phone on and off with no success.
What happened and what should I do? Keep in mind this is a One X with a still-locked bootloader so it's not rooted.
edit: Fixed with help from another user! I don't even remember checking it, but unchecking "Show screen updates" fixed it for me.
Cos you hit 'show screen updates' button in development settings.
Edit... To late lol

Weird touch screen problem on my Samsung A50

Hi there,
This weird thing started a few months ago, and I can't get rid of it.
Long story short, my hands are always sweaty, and I thought that is the main reason of the problem, however, this can happen randomly even if I don't even touch my phone.
First I saw the fingerprint scanner flashing while the phone was locked and sitting on my table, that's when I first saw this problem.
Nowadays, it happens randomly. When I type, when the phone sits on my table, when I try to type messages or when I try to make a phone call. Usually if I rub the spot with some cloth, my pants, t-shirt it goes away for a few minutes.
First, it appeared on the bottom of the screen, when the virtual keyboard is open the "space" button, "n" letter and "k" buttons were acting weird. It's like, when you touch the N letter it jumps up to the K.. when you touch the "space" it jumps up to the N or the K.
Nowadays, it goes all hardcore sometimes.
I have turned on all kinds of stuff in the developer options to see the exact same spot where the error is, as i thought the bottom of the touchscreen is damanged. However, it sometimes does the same thing on the top, on the bottom, center etc.
edit: the two options turned on in the developer settings are: show taps and pointer location.
Here are two youtube videos I was able to record with another phone when my A50 went nuts.
As you can see, the phone is locked, it was sitting on the table and all of a sudden it started doing these crazy stunts..
I hope you guys have a solution for this.
Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day / night!
Best Regards,
Tamas,
Zerovic.
