[Q] In Need of certain Answers............. - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hi im thinkin of buyin this phone..but also am considering the neo v ..........so these are my questions......
1)This vs Neo V who wins(performance and overclockin)
2)Image really matters to me so where can i get some phone cases??
3)CAn sum1 pm me a good rom for this phone
4).....i will hit the thnkz button 4 the help ..........:laugh:

The neo has 1ghz processor, Galaxy w has 1.4 ghz processor. You can overclock the 1 ghz to 1.2, and the 1.4 ghz to 1.8. The neo v has same 5 mp camera that the galaxy w and both device has 512 ram, and I think also both device has adreno 205. The neo has offical ics update. The galaxy w doesnt get offical ics but we have 3 ics based rom cm9 aokp and miui v4, probably the camera not working correctly. And we have lot of great GB rom and we have a good community and helpful...(I think ) so I advice to you that buy the galaxy w. Hope you understand my bad english.

My honest advice, buy a nexus phone. It will soon be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Galaxy W still doesn't have a fully working ICS rom and no support from Samsung! Neo V has ICS but will get JB after 4-6 months if at all.

Sadly, I have to agree with 2g11......and I know it is more in sadness than anything else he made the recommendation.....
But Sammy really has taken us all for a ride, taken our money, and gave us Value Pack????????
I purchased a really good Chinese Tablet recently, Momo11 Bird, with totally adequate specs, 1GB RAM, 1Ghz Processor, 16GB SD Built-in, and fully functional ICS 4.0.3....including full Play/Market Access........rooted out of the box, and ICS updates continuing from Ployer site........this cost me around €170/$214, delivered to my door, in 3 days!!!!
Sammy, you deserve to go the way of Nokia!!!!!!
you make fools of your customers, but not me again!!!!
This is not in any way to take from the efforts of Devs here to provide what Sammy won't, but it is just the Corporate "taking for granted" that get's to me.

To be honest, galaxy W has good specs then Neo V. However, in term of hardware, it is not that good as what we expected (from me and other developers' personal experience)
I would say no matter how good the specs are, the most important thing is the SOUL that running in the phone. Samsung has stopped the growth of the soul in our phone. In other words, it is a sunset phone.

In my opinion, I still prefer having my galaxy s back due to its massive support, and it has a great hardware configuration (super amoled, wolfson chip, 4" screen). Or nexus device than galaxy w. Even nexus s still get jellybean update.
It's only my 2 cents tho

Currently I have Ainol Aurora II, its my 3rd Ainol tablet, it cost me only 180$, it has dual core CPU & GPU, OTG, HDMI, and lot more in this little price, currently it has ICS and JB is confirmed.
Sammy takes too much money and gives nothing. HTC has already learned the lesson and having declined in each quarter, but at least they have confirmed ICS for a few sets.

Is the nexus going to be as big as the S2?

Is the nexus going to be the next big thing? And thus in regards to roms and themes etc. is it going to have lots of devs on board? I'm in the market right now for a phone but the only thing stopping me from getting a nexus is the lack of mods. So that's either because it is so new or people don't actually like it. So is it worth getting this phone and waiting for 3rd party stuff to come out? As I really don't care about the average ICS features they talk about.
It's too new. It's the next damn Nexus phone, it's the ICS reference phone, it already has plenty of developers. But it's a low newer than the SII.
As stated before, its too new. Sure, the SGSII sold about 1 million units in less than a month but you gotta take into consideration that Samsung brung in new technology and the Galaxy Nexus is pretty much an upgraded SGSII with AOSP. SuperAMOLED HD & an LED notification are the 2 main features that made me want this phone, plus the design is alot sleaker than first anticipated. Also, Google phones are developer phones. So people tend to not go for dev phones even though its alot easier to use than Bloatwiz.
-N
sales wise the galaxy nexus will NOT surpass the GS2
as far as development, community and modding goes, that it will surpass simply because the nexus is the go to device for the fast majority of major developers around here.
in any case except software there is not much to write about in Galaxy Nexus, its more or less the same hardware specs as SGS2 which is almost an year old now.
Now that ICS is showcased, there should be much better hardware coming up (in a matter of months) which would be FAR BETTER!
There is hardly anything to write about in this hardware, but coming up are the 1.5/2 GHz - quad core CPUs and that would make for the REAL deal
Unfortunately, the nexus Galaxy S handset will blow the Nexus out the water sales-wise as Samsung will plug it like hell

Uh.. have you taken a look at CES 2012? many companies announced upcoming phones. All of them with the exception of the Huawei one are being launched with Gingerbread upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich. This will take months to do. Not to mention, manufacturer skins will ruin the stock ICS experience.
Sure tablets are coming out with quad-cores. But all in honesty, this is a phone, not a computer. Quad core is nice, yes. But it's still a phone.
Galaxy Nexus won't be big as the S2 in terms of sales. It never will be. Nexus devices are focused towards Android enthusiastics that want the stock experience. It is not a device that is mainstream (not the device everyone will notice). Which is what makes the device so cool and unique with it's sleek design.
Galaxy Nexus will have major support from developers. We've already have numerous developers who are putting work and effort into ROMs and kernels including Ezekeel (his works from the Nexus S and kernel expertise), Franco (kernel), morfic (in progress with donations), supercurio (Voodoo) and so on. Several CM devs also have the phone.
Why do you think Clockwork Recovery Touch Enabled was built first for the GN? Get the phone if modding / ROMs is your thing. The phone's just going to get bigger as it slowly gets expanded onto U.S. carriers (whenever..)
I don't understand ur point and most probably there is none anyway
Matter of months you see much better hardware, we will both be here I'll post ..HTC Samsung are both coming up with their next Gen phones.
Galaxy nexus is an year old spec almost, and regarding OS - almost everyone is rooting their nexus devices - so u root a much better hardware spec device and port a fully functional ICS rom on them and you're there!

Next generation phones? The lineup of these phones at ces were not that impressive, and I doubt I'll be impressed at mwc. Also 99% of these phones will be on gingerbread
Nexus devices will always be the best choice for me because I enjoy the pure android experience without bloatware and easy unlock.

I bought a Galaxy Nexus because it is a nexus device. I do not care for Galaxy S3 because it uses a manufacturer skin causing delays when it comes to updates. Not to mention, S3 is announced and will probably not arrive to the states until Summer or Fall 2012.
Galaxy nexus hardware is definitely not outdated. Quad cores, what's the use of them if android os isn't optimized to be used with those four cores?

[Q] should i sell my Gnex ?

Hey guys,
iam thinking of selling my galaxy nexus and buying one of the new quad core devices,
i was really excited about the new coming Huawei Ascend D quad since it will features the fastest CPU and a 16 core GPU. However, i have recently heard that it will be delayed because of some issues with the CPU until late Augest or September.
i already have a Sony Xperia S and after a small comparison between them in term of screen, camera, build quality, CPU/GPU i think that the other device was slightly better, i have already found a buyer but i still hesitate because the Gnex will get Android 4.1 and 5.x before any other device out there.
so, what do you think guys??
sorry for my poor English

The galaxy S3 has the same screen as the galaxy nexus. However, the last one has more pixel density because the screen is slightly smaller, in my opinion the sony xperia s has a better screen than both with 344 ppi reality display with mobie bravia engine,
The HOX has several problems already with wi-fi connection and some other software issues,
I dont prefer the user interface of the LG optimus 4X
Thats way i hesitate because i dont see a phone which is worth buying right now in my opinion
Besides all of them are cortex-A9
So, i think my point is clear now

Because i think that buying 2 phones of the same generation of CPU/GPU was a mistake and i am trying to correct it by selling one of them and keeping the other one and wait for new and better devices.
I cant decide weather i should sell one of them or keep both of them
The Sony Xperia S has a wonderful screen and the Gnex will get the updates faster

If you check Wikipedia you will find that Exynos 5 CPU which should be better than the current Exynos quad spotted @ the galaxy S3 will be available at Q2 of 2012

Hmm.. better battery life ?? Snapdragon S3 and TI OMAP 4460 are built on 45 nm
Exynos quad 32 nm and the snapdragon S4 28 nm
I know how my S3 works, you only get one CPU online + full adreno 220 support,
The other CPU will only work if you need extra power which is rare
So it is only about battrey life, you dont really need a dual core or a quad core CPU.
I like the idea of big. LITTLE CPU which is basically contains a powerfull cortex-A15 core and a cortex-A5 core which do easy to medium tasks efficiently, in case you need more power the other core wil be online to finish the job and then ofline again

Back to my point, name me a few applications that use more than 2 cores. As far as the battery life, when you have all four running, battery is gonna take a hit

This is correct for the current quad core cortex-A9 CPUs
However, things will be different with quad core cortex-A15 CPUs since they are so efficient
nVidia tegra 3 has 4 + 1 CPU, so they are telling us that . Our CPU is not so efficient since it was built on 40 nm and that's why we need one underclocked CPU to save battrey for the background process, people like woooow this device has 5 cores !!!!! Iam going to buy it now but they don't really know the truth about it
In other words.. we will have "real" quad core CPUs with a cortex-A15 in term of battery efficient and speed

Well, i respect your opinion and thanks for the one star rating.
However, i like to "learn" from my mistakes,
As i said before, i think that buying 2 phones of the same generation was a mistake
And that was not going to be happened if i asked people how knows about phones more than me before buying the second identical peice of plastic.
There is no harm in asking people for help and then make my own choice.
That's why we have this section, to "ask" other people
To get some informations from them
And then to make our choice

When apps become multithreaded it will have more practical use. And what? The four cores don't always fire. Battery on my S3 blows away battery on my nexus and it is only 100mah larger than the extended battery.

My question was,
should I sell my Gnex and keep the Sony,
And "wait" for new and better devices or should I keep both?
I don't know why ppl keep telling me its your choice
Ofcourse it is my choice, iam only asking for other ppl opinions
Which will help me to make my final descion.
Just because iam thinking to sell my Gnex doesn't make me a bad guy
Isn't it?
Please, no more Angry Birds, help me or don't waste my time
I wouldn't worry about it.

No ones the bad guy in here. Simply put, whether you know it or not, chances are you've already made up your mind and like others have said, you are just looking for justification for whatever you are about to do. That simple. What would make you upgrade?

For those of us still on a SGSII, no matter what the reason is (no money, no stock, price too high for s3, nothing worth a 2 year extension), what would make you upgrade?
For me I'm hoping that the next Nexus will be the super phone of my dreams AND available for t-mobile.
Specs:
Quad Core Exynos LTE Enabled 1.5Ghz processor
2 GB of ram
16/32 GB storage (expandable)
12 Megapixel camera
4.7 inch 720p screen (retinaISH dpi) One X style, Iphone style, SuperAMOLED+ style idc aslong as its high pixel to screen size and beautiful
FM Radio (stop taking **** out of phones us carriers)
Pentaband
Huge REMOVABLE battery
2 Megapixel FFC
Notification LED
MHL
Jelly Bean +
Beat headphones lol (why not)
Dedicated Camera Button

No beats because they are only optimized for crap headphones. Once you start (I know its not the best quality... but its better than any crap headphones I can buy) streaming to your done up car stereo, that can handle REAL audio quality... then you don't want any help at all.
Just today I discovered lows I never knew existed on one song because I'd never played it in my car.
Not to mention beats are just another brand grabbing money.

Money is always the reason.
If someone were to buy my phone for a decent price, I'd upgrade.
Other than my 2 years between upgrades being up, the things that would make me upgrade would be:
Much faster processor (better than Qualcomm S4)
720p non-pentile display
Overall size not significantly larger than t989
2gb ram
Most importantly for me: DAC as good as Wolfson
And nothing missing the t989 has. I'm extremely happy with my S2.

You hit the nail on the head with the wolfson dac. That things kicked SO MUCH ASS with my epic and nexus. Also I'd take a quad core s4 SoC over a quad exynos any day. 10 bucks says quad core s4 ass rapes the quad exynos when released. The dual core s4 krait SoC is the second fastest SoC out behind the quad exynos.

But to answer the question the next nexus will make me upgrade. Having already been an ex nexus s owner I've experienced how much better the dev support was on that device. Worlds ahead. I had aokp on my nexus last year.. with the same exact features aokp milestone 6 has and more. With the nexus you could raise the wolfson dac 5 decibels above its stock setting for some AMAZING sound processing and you could tweak the amoled screens brightness contrast and colors with all with voodoo sound. I NEED that back in my life. Call me insane but I've considered taking the huge performance hit and going back to my old nexus s because of how amazing the benefits are over this t989.

Truthfully, this. I know we're all here cause we care about benchmarks and the latest software, but I can't think of anything I want to do on this phone that it can't deliver.
I'm pretty happy with my phone now too. One of my friends just got an s3 & I got to play with it for a while last night, and I can honestly say I was NOT blown away. I ran some benchmarks on it and my phone either came out ahead or VERY close on each test. I'm sure it's probably all due to software, but still. I thought the screen on mine looked better too, honestly. I could see the pixels more clearly on his even though it's higher-res. I'm perfectly happy with the t989's performance, the only thing that could make me upgrade would be a significantly larger display since I'm a size queen, lol... I've heard that the Note will be coming to T-Mo this month, so that's what I'm saving my pennies for
I agree if the nexus came out for tmo I'd hop on it quick!

Nothing.
I don' t NEED the latest greatest, BUT, ONE THING that would make me upgrade, a camera capable of shooting over 200dpi, NOT the 72dpi garbage we're being given.
Otherwise, the SG2 is an EXTREMELY capable phone and they (manufacturers) are just tossing little bones to try and get people to ugprade and keep up with the Jones'..
....forget it, no thanks.

Arc s is not too shabby to be honest. Compared to 2012 phones, it obviously doesn't perform as well with noticeably more lag. However it's performance can be boosted to a very large extent if you install a custom rom (either based on stock ICS or MIUI or something else not sure) and to a larger extent with custom kernels. The Arc s compared to 2011 phones is actually pretty good. Regarding the ones you mentioned, it's a lot better than Defy and it's not as fast as S2 and photon because of the number of cores, but in other terms such as Screen quality and camera quality, it's a lot better.
I'm sure threre's more to add
If you want a better phone it's not hard to find but you should be able these days to find an arc s at an affordable price maybe on EBay or something and it's still a good phone but I wouldn't pay much over 300 for one if I was you I would say 250 sounds about right, (250Canadian Dollars).

I'm usin Arc lt15i(not Arc S),but i'm very pleased with it,Arc S has a better processor and i think you will like this phone, well i'm using GB,gaming,multi-tasking,recording and other stuffs works perfect,no lag at all,ICS on the other hand sucks with most games,recording,multi-tasking but hey you can use custom ROM's,it will run just fine.
Xperia Arc S looks very nice it fits very good on your hand.

if you do not care about problems of software maintaining and its low level hardware ,arc s is a good choice

I think Arc S is a good choice for new Android users.
Except the gaming experience, it is enough for whatsapp and facebook etc.
I am from India too. I think 17k is lit bit high. Why don't you think about HTC Desire V
arc s is a bad phone, in my country galaxy nexus is only about 50 euro more expensive but it's incomparably better... If I could make my choice again, I'd definitely go for a dual core, 1gb ram phone.
also, build quality is one of the worst I've ever seen. the housing is really squeaky, damn this phone is bad.

Are you sure that you have Xperia Arc S? Sony's phone build quality is the best.

you made my day.
Don't buy this phone! I am the developer, I know what I'm saying! Arc and whole 2011 line is slow, badly-crafted and support from Sony is horrible. Don't buy anything what's not at least dual core and don't even think about Xperia T! It's good phone, but camera is laggy and materials used to produce the device are simply awful! If you want something cheaper - think of Samsung Galaxy SII. If you have some more money to spend, buy HTC One S or Desire X! Those phones have future, not like crap Xperia's.
I will never buy a phone of Sony anymore! Even if it's high-end beast.
This phone is the bad thing that could happen to me..because is a very slow device...only 512 mb ram, but only 350 available, single core, and ~400 mb internal memory, crapy cracks on sensor, low battery life....only good thing is just the sexy look, but hei this should be a smartphone not a girl.....
Overall is my mistake because I buy this, but for sure will be the last Sony phone...and believe me, I'm not a young ..but from a smartphone I want to have at least 1 gb ram and also dual-core processor...maybe Samsung Galaxy S ll...will be my choice, because I don't want a huge phone like S lll...
All the best ...
Why would you even consider purchasing this phone? Budget wouldnt even be reason enough as there are quite a number phones out there, in this price range, which are way better than the arcs. And more importantly, they'd be newer models.
Several months ago it would have been a decent buy. But right now? Why buy a dated phone with terrible specs? Imagine where you'd be in 6 months, or a year. By that time you'd be calling it Grampa Arc S.
It would no longer be worth it anymore. Get something else
Cheers

I'm very pleased with my ARC S - In Sweden one of the best phones in its price range. Great camera, with camera button and swift system. It has good battery, 44hours~ with moderate use. But if you tweak it a little it'll last a full day and be a little bit faster. It works great, But it's not an S3, It's good, you don't actually need better. really.
the Sony Xperia GO has same CPU specs, water proof, and is cheaper. Aswell with better ROM etc (lolroot). All games I've tried games work great, subway surfer etc works flawlesly on both phones - using ICS.
(owner of both GO and ARC)
You don't need the best of the best systems for a phone. But if you really feel like it, go for an S3. You can now switch games twice as fast!
When looking for phones, I look for durability, Camera , RAM and internet speed. I personally dont have the need to have 1 million widgets, and 10's of apps open at the same time, I usually just do the same things, then close them.

Nonsense, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the Arc S, infact its the 3rd best phone of 2011, which is why i bought it, it might not be an amazing phone when compared to the current market, but its constantly changing, the Galaxy S2 is out of date now, even if it is / was good. But your opinions just seem anti-sony.
Support from Sony is horrible? In what respect? Sony were the first 3rd party phone developers to deliver ICS to their phones outside of Googles own, they do a pretty good job of adding their own style to the OS with their own apps, and theres not much bloatware.
Granted there are some design floors with Ram and Space on the actual phone, but the whole core thing isn't much of an argument, as the phone was a september 2011 update of the original, they only updated the speed of the processor, but its not like Dual Core phones were on every phone back then, only a handful had them, and they were much more expensive.
Just because a phone is quad core doesnt make it better than a dual core, it's all relative, a lot of people are impressed by the Xperia T, and from what people said months before it was released, its dual core was faster than the Galaxy S3s Quad Core.
The benchmark for smartphones isn't high, you can achieve most of what one person needs with the cheapest of smartphones, its when you get into the realm of chasing the best games and multitasking 50 apps at a time that you need the boost, everything from 2012 on-wards is just constant polish and raising bars that don't need to be raised, to make out that somehow they need more cores n ram, till when? When somehow quad core and 2gb of ram isnt enough, then we have 6 core processors and 8gb of ram in one phone? Where do we draw the line in what is actually needed in a device thats just supposed to connect us to people. I guess Google Project Glass is the answer, as its pointless to keep adding constant power to a device that doesnt need it.
I bought my Xperia Arc S a month ago. I wouldn`t do it again. For less more money (relatively) you can get a Galaxy S2 which is a much more capable device.

Very well said My thoughts exactly. Smartphones are not just about the abundance of cores the phone has. Only a very select few of knobheads care about such novelty. As long as it can perform the tasks you need to do, it is subjectively good.

I'll buy a phone only if it has 4 ghz hexa-core processor,12 gb of ram,10TB internal storage,5000 mAh battery,7 inches display, adreno 999 graphic driver, and 60 mpx camera....Come on peoples, what the hell is with this insanity "don't buy it if it doesn't have at least dual core and 1gb of ram"? Like someone else said, the basic function of a phone is to use it for talk, not for gaming, photoshop or programming. Can't you see that the phone evolved but the batteries are more and more weaker? Why do you need a quad-core which is last only half a day? For the OP: if you don't want a phone for gaming, but for multimedia,Arc S is a wise choice,if you want it for multitasking and games, get a Galaxy S2 or a Galaxy Nexus. PS: i have a Neo,and i'm planning to upgrade it to Xperia V.
The speed was never an issue but the lack of ram and internal storage totally ruined the arc S experience for me and it's put me off Sony devices. My wife has an Xperia S and it sucks too. Never again.
If it wasn't for the Nexus 4 I'd of bought an Acer S500 next. Unique design, amazing display, pretty much stock ICS, SD slot, removable battery, etc. For about £280. Easily rooted as well apparently.
But I got lucky and bagged a Nexus 4.

Handset upgrade

Well, I've just read an email from my carrier stating that I'm eligible for a contract/phone upgrade in 20 days......
This has set me thinking.....what would I upgrade to?
I've always liked the S2, and now that the S3 is available, the contract costs for the S2 are beginning to fall....
On the other hand....I can't just bin my W.....I've spent a lot of time and done a lot of research to get it running as smoothly and as up to date as it is......and there's still more I could do.....
So what would you guys do? What would be your ideal upgrade phone?
WOULD you upgrade if/when the time comes?.....
sent from my CM10 turbocharged Wonder despite what Samsung says....it's all good..
Choose the S2 or maybe the Sensation XE or any other Htc sensation phones... I always like htc
.. Dunno for you..

My reccomendations would be the S2, because it's a epic phone, with epic hardware.
U can get dozens of ROMs for it, and it offers excellent performance.
The comparison between S2 and S3 is display, processor, and GPU, so my reccomendation would be Samsung galaxy s2, because the price of S2 is much more lower than S3, and and the power u get in S3 is not that huge compared to S2
I personally dislike HTC, they'r good, but overall not as good and smooth as Samsung is.
S2... Get SyahKernel! I heard it has dual booting capabilities...

If I were you I'll thinking to get a new phone, and that is a galaxy nexus because I love unbloated google stock and I don't sell/spare my galaxy w because I love this small community and I'd like to see how our community has grow up, there's many new devs here now, we now had many ICS rom, two AOSP rom, lot of JB's and two stable base CM9 and CM10 by our master. i don't even think to sell my phone for now
-sent from my awesome phone-
Echoing @hotheabilly, whatever new phone you choose, don't ever think of selling the W...
Honestly, the W's community, in my view, is more creative and daring compared to others. Undoubtedly due to the W's severe limitations, but the W has taught us all to persevere, because we all know that it's "the little phone that could."
I personally have invested so much time familiarizing myself with its 'soul', that if ever the day comes when I have to part with it for good, perhaps when it has become so old it can no longer turn on because some parts are broken and replacements are no more, I'm sure I'll be feeling a great sense of loss.
As to S2 vs S3, you'll have to ask yourself if the larger screen is worth the price of fewer cusROMs... the S2 has existed for quite some time that most of the myriad cusROMs for it are practically stable; you *truly* can choose a ROM that fits your style without having to worry about stability.
And the money you save by choosing the S2 over the S3 can be repurposed for useful accessories like a Targus capacitive stylus, or a capacitive glove (either are especially helpful when you need to touch your phone's screen during very cold weather).

Pepoluan....I totally agree about parting company with this phone......
The W is my first smartphone.....it's also the first piece of tech I've ever played with and tweaked.....
When I found out (before I joined XDA) that Samsung intended to leave it behind at gingerbread, I felt cheated and disappointed.....I soon changed my mind about this little phone when I discovered XDA...
I'm in no hurry to put this phone in a drawer. Even if I do upgrade (likely to be the S2) I'll probably put a PAYG sim in this one and keep using it......
I used to visit FB on a daily basis, but now I'd rather visit this forum.......even though I've never actually met/worked with/spoken to any of the members here, I'm more comfortable here than on FB....so even if I do upgrade, I'm not going to turn my back on this forum.....

i would suggest S2 or Galaxy Nexus
everybody know how nexus is being golden kid of google
both phone also got big support of devs on their respective thread which is also plus point to consider

Go with the Galaxy Nexus. I've used various phones from various manufacturers, I'd say the Galaxy S series come last. It has the most clunkiest and laggiest UI (TouchWiz) compared to HTC and Sony. Regarding S3, it's like Samsung removed Project Butter on purpose from its Jelly Bean update.
If you don't mind less customization compared to the Nexus, get an Xperia T or One S.
If you wan expandable memory instead of being stuck with a tiny one like in the Nexus series go with the S2 or S3. Don't bother with any Nexus product unless you hate expandable memory.
Yeah...I keep hearing that touchwiz is laggy.....though that doesn't really matter anyway...
If I do upgrade, whatever I upgrade to probably won't be running stock for more than about 5 minutes anyway......

Try Sensation XE though it is nice and have lower budget than the s2. And it is almost as good as s2 with the dual cored 1.5 ghz. With 768 ram it's quite nice.
But if you love samsung and doesn't want to move to other brand well s2 is better. But definitely go to s3 man. Craving for that badly but sooo expensive.
The sensation xe it's nice on the upper hand of wonder. Try to search it in the google and compare it with s2

If I were to change my handset, most probably I will be going for the middle or upper low-end phones. As the reason for rooting one's phone is to unleash the phone's potential.
When I first realized that SGW is under the legacy and low activity device section, I was a bit disappointed. Nonetheless, this forum has actually bring our phone to a whole new level.
Considering that you buy a high end mobile phone. The after effects of rooting your phone doesn't really give you much satisfaction as compared to SGW.

anyone can help me.. i already rooted my samsung galaxy w but still 2.3.6 version.. then i tried to change my kernel version to [email protected] but my wifi is not working. where can i find the original kernel of my phone? pls. help me or sent me a kernel file to my email.. thanx a lot..
I would upgrade to a S3 since it seems pretty good and I tested one in the shops and it feels fantastic to use. Honestly don't get anything in the Nexus series of phones cause no matter how good they look and seem, it lacks a MicroSD slot for expandable memory and its a wonder why anyone who likes watching movies or listening to music and especially gaming would get one.
