I can't get a lock from gps in the place i'm staying with agps apps cuz none have this area mapped. but when i go in urban areas gps locks in like 10-15 secs. tested with iGO and stock 2.3.3-2.3.4-giopro 1.4-CM 7.1 rc2. so maybe its some hardware problem with your phone.
Ok! Yap. That what i'm thinking...
Mine works fine for a phone. I noticed a 10-15% decrease in signal when using the protective rubber case that might prevent the connction, so I always remove it before using nav programs. Firts I turn on GPS test to monitor the connection process and when it's done i close the app and start the navigation program.

Hello,
i think it depends on the settings in gps.conf too. For example you should use european ntp server if you are in europe etc. and you can use an other supl_host - I prefere the one from sony ericsson. But I use a galaxy s with init.d support, hope it can be used for the gio. Please correct me if im wrong.

You can edit /system/etc/gps.conf on your internal storage but it depends on kernel or rom.

Im having the same problem.. My GPS don't work
Did you try the general GPS-fix via gps.conf?
The thread can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
Thank you so much for the reply. But who do I do on Galaxy Gio? The instructions is for a different phone...
It works well on my Gio, just take the gps.conf from the example, adapt it to your country and replace the original in /etc folder using root explorer. Your phone needs to be rooted for this, obviously. Don't forget to set the correct permissions.

Hello! I can't edit the gps.conf. So what can i do?
The easiest way is to use the one from the thread mentioned above, edit it on your PC to your preference and then copy it to yout Gio. Rename the old one to gps.bak for safety, and then copy it the edited gps.conf to /etc.
Your Gio needs to be rooted and you need rootexplorer or simolar for this to work.
Try GPS on Cyanogenmod 7.2, on my Gio works fine
Written with Swype Beta on Cyanogenmod 7.2(GT-S5660)
Using http://particle.blurringexistence.net/samsung-gt-s5660/roms
I followed the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
I copy pasted everything, fixed permissions (rw-r--r--) and changed COUNTRY and REGION like this:
NTP_SERVER=pt.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.pt.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.pt.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.pt.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.pt.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org
My gps still doesn't work, i've been waiting for half an hour for it to find a signal using GPS Status & Toolbox :\
I tried Cyanogen today (7.2) so far so good...
One of the flaws of the new Android Jelly Bean OS compared to iOS is the big audio playback latency - about 48 ms. This impacts negatively many applications that emulate musical instruments and the ones that do VOIP like Skype or Google Talk. For VOIP apps the audio lag also has a negative impact on acoustic echo cancellation. I have to mention that Google improved from ICS where the playback latency was about 88 ms.
This is a similar thread to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674836
but applies to Jelly Bean.
The attached package should be used only by experienced users that can eventually restore their system to the original state. I tested it on Android 4.1.1 GSM phone build JRO03C (maguro) and 4.1.2 build JZ054K.
The latency after aplying it should be 18 ms (no longer 11 ) with the new version - as reported by the "Caustic 2" app.
It does NOT work on Android 4.2!
Apps like Google Talk, Skype, YouTube, Play Music, Caustic 2, Pandora, TheDrum, My Piano... work very well with this change.
With the newest version all the apps I tested that work well with stock Jelly Bean work well with this patch, with the additional advantage of lower latency.
Status: stable (install and use at own risk)
Notes:
1) applying this might reverse changes made in other mods.
2) The "SCREEN OFF" BUG is FIXED as of July 16th night.
To install use "lowlatsnd41_18_inst.zip"
To restore to original state you may use "lowlatsnd41_rest.zip" or other restore methods if necessary.
Do not run the install twice in a row (run one install then one restore; you have to run restore only if you want to uninstall or before installing a new version when available...).
Since the volume is still a big issue for the Galaxy Nexus users I decided to address this with a Volume Boost patch.
Status: stable ( for 4.1, not tested in 4.2). Install and use at own risk...
The same rules for install/restore apply.
General comment: system updates may delete the backup of the original files; therefore the "restore" should be ran before an update followed by a new install after the update; restoring the original files is also required if the update performs sum checks.
I just installed it and my latency went from 168 ms to 18 ms in caustic 2.
Major ISSUE: When the screen is off audio is incredibly distorted (slowed down an incredible amount) when playing music through headphones. It seems to work fine when the screen is on, though.
I restored using your restore file and caustic 2 now reports my latency as 48 ms and music plays fine when the screen is off, too. Ha, I'm going to test to see if people still complain about horrible echo and delay when making GrooveIP calls over t-mobile 4G.
Thanks!

My GNex is running at 1536 Mhz CPU / 384 Mhz GPU w/ franco's kernel. Could that be causing my issues when the screen's off? Or did you mean that the issue is caused by the SOC clocking down by the scheduler to save power when the screen is off?
I was thinking it may have happened because I'm max screen off speed was 384 it was to low. But I changed it to always hold 12Xx and it bug still persisted

generally i'm using Endomondo Pro for tracking my sports activity (jogging), but with the P6 it seems nearly impossible to get good and correct tracking :crying:
I tried it now several times with several different ROMS and Tools , but the tracked GPS data is really awful...
With my last two smartphones (HTC HD2 , RAZR XT910) the tracking was much much better ...
Does anybody uses this phone also for GPS tracking with better experience (or does this phone have an ****ty GPS :crying: ) ??
When yes please tell me which ROM and which Tools..
thanks in advance ! m

Sorry to tell you this, but i've had the same problems since I bought the phone in August... Tried a lot of ROMs and GPS tools with no luck. Apparently some people's P6 has a perfectly working GPS, but some of us didn't have that luck. No idea where the problem comes from, I wish I knew.
Here a track from my p6. Saved with locus pro and firmware b507. I think it is perfect.

Yes tracking works fine sometimes. The problem is that sometimes you wont get a lock in a one hour run. I have several 0km ~30min bike rides saved with sports tracker along with a larger stack of incomplete tracks. Samsung galaxy s and had no problems what so ever for a couple of years - and i didnt even fix the ****ty antenna on it.
Factory reset helps for a while, so i think its a software related issue. Gps just wont wake up when the app needs it.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Ahh, GPS wont wake up and no icon in statusbar? This issue have any people. I think this is a hardware problem. On my P6 GPS is all time viable when i need it.
Here one tip, but it only help it is a software problem:
-copy attached apk to \system\priv-app\
-set rights to 644
-reboot
-set "location mode" to "High Accuracy"
I use this gps.conf file from the LG flex and it works just fine...replace this gps.conf with the one in system/etc/ ... If you can't replace the file, use RootExplorer with root permission :cyclops:
Well, I used to have problems with GPS all the time. Since I've sent the phone back to the repair centre it works much way better...

if you want that app and you have root access try this
install xposed an set it up then reboot install appsettings in xposed and select module in xposed (reboot after)
go to appsettings and select the malfunctioning apps and keep changing the dpi value until the app looks good/starts (300~400 should work)
after setting new value go to settings>apps>app of which you changed dpi>force close
this is to apply settings
it works for me 100% of the time
Also, it's "QHD". "qHD" is 960x540. Capital letters matter with electronics specs. Just like your home internet is mb which is a HUGE difference from MB.

Sygic for Serbia (seeing that you are from Serbia ) is a bit specific. With Sygic, what you get by default are TomTom maps (the ones you get when you press download from the app itself) which are pretty bad. However, using truck maps which are Navteq (iGO uses Navteq maps too) it's pretty much the same then, although map version on iGO is a bit ahead. iGO, unfortunately, works very bad on G3, and is buggy with 2D view as shown in this post.
Yeah...maybe I miss something I try naviteq too but almost same there. I find that Igo is best for me....I dont say Sygic is bad.[emoji1]

iGO is great, the only problem is that it doesn't work as expected on G3, probably due to screen resolution. Hopefully they will fix that in next version or smth like that. ATM I have both iGO and Sygic installed on my G3 but i am using Sygic due to the problems with iGO.
I've managed to make a working kit on LG G3. 3D mode, and so on. a little bit of lag (I'm working at that) but it runs fine. if everyone needs it, give me a shout (probably a pm).
What about the 2D view zoomed out?
I switched from Igo to here navigation. Works great and its legal. Just beta atm but will go to play store soon. Also works offline. So for me after years of enjoying.... Bye bye Igo.

A port from a S3's CM12 ROM for the [SGH-T399] Samsung Galaxy Light .
DISCLAIMER READ EVERYTHING BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS. This ROM was built for the T399, even though it was built on a rom that presumably worked on both models. People with Metro encounter FCs and Reboots when using High Accuracy GPS.
Android Version:5.0.2
With @Unjustified Dev's CM12 Build (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95784891001602113) as a base (Thanks for your service!)
Also the Light in the name isn't because of it's size (yet(?))
Bugs:
- stock Cam still iffy, 3-rd party cam apps work. From personal use, Focal (by CM) works great, Cam Mx is good too.
- Prox/light sensor for telephony (off display when phone to ear) is iffy as well. From my use Gravity Screen has trouble using the light sensor when the flip cover option is not selected (6/10), when it is toggled the use is 8/10. Interestingly, when calling the screen turns off when close to ear flawlessly, sometimes it might not turn back on tho.
- Report if I left some out
--Streaming apps (Netflix, YT, Play Movies) has been reported to be not working. Some report that it's dependent on the .apk version. On the latest ver. of YT it works with no problems on various resolutions.
Oh and also.
I am not responsible to any damage to your device, PLEASE do a Backup of the device on TWRP.
Oh and as of right now I do not have the device in my possession. I GOT IT GUYZ
I'd like to thank you for supporting and testing this and helping to build support for this great device. :highfive:
Want a stock ROM as backup or for daily use? Here's my build Don't it's unstable.
I am holding off development until I get the device, sorry.
Read everything? Good, here's a link as your reward
ROM: V0.1 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=35178
(Vanila) V.02 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347772131 - CM stuff removed (for now), proximity sensor seems to be better
(Dirty) V0.2.2 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347773480 - build.prop battery tweaks, added cam permissions in the boot.img, let's see if that makes a difference.
(Dirty) V.0.2.3 https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347774276 - libs migrations en mas (from stock, let's see where this rides takes us, HAVE A BACKUP READY PLZZZ)

I will also try my best to keep this method of release. It could take a day or two tho :/ so please be patient.
