Not sure where to post this, hopefully where users and mods alike will see this.
Could it be possible to link or consolidate all "s3" accessory forums?
So far it seems we all share a common exterior.

why is the verizon version different?
It's not...all are the same with the exception of the hardware inside.

thought so thats why i was questioning the original post.
The forums are separate, there's the i9300 International Galaxy S III, and the North American Variants.
Yes, the distinction being made because of internals.
Not externals and attachments.
According to at least one case vendor, they claim in their ad it would not fit the SCH-i535. But looking at the spec sheet on pdadb.net, it's sized the same with other US variants.
The SHV-E210S (korean) and SCH-i939 (chinese) are slightly thicker.
The Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and TMO accessory forums are already integrated.
The Euro SIII forum is separated (and should be) due to all prices/resellers being in Euro dollars & addresses.
Yes, we may buy from Europe and the Euro's may buy from us.
But it keeps things easier to manage.
And helps prevent the uninformed from accidentally drifting over to the quad-core development forum and bricking their phones.
Keep them separate. When I come to this forum I know I'm dealing with US vendors.
US vendors that still label their products for the i9300 above any other variant.

Actually in my experience it's the same Chinese, Korean vendors...

Many US users of the International version, including me. And so far most of the posts in the International Accessories section are of US ebay/amazon/sites quoted at US$.
But I understand your point, it would have been nice to get the larger community together on accessories (larger consensus/opinion pool), since they are essentially the same.
Should we pose the question on the Euro forum where more mods are likely to congregate?

Just launched yesterday live with rock concert and all.
This one is different from the T-mobile version as it comes exactly like the SGS i9000 with the front camera and all its whistle, plus a few more extra apps, but it runs on the 850 instead of the 900 and it's apparently locked, the international 900 is unlocked
So... are we going to get a new forum for this variant of the Galaxy S, or should we go with this suggestion that many has agreed on this topic?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723076&page=3
to amalgamate all the Galaxy S variants into one organized Samsung Galaxy S forum, then a General section for each sub variant(carrier), else if we keep the current model, we'll have way too many duplicated forums for the same thing, also the development/messages will not be transparent to end users specially those not aware all these models are the same.
Cheers
I guess one important question is: Are ROMs and root methods interchangeable (or nearly so) between the Bell Vibrant and the international versions? If so, then discussion of the Bell Vibrant belongs in the international Galaxy S forum.
the only difference is the radio band, just like the New Zealand model and China model
they are all GT-i9000, but all 4 models (Euro, Asia, NZ, Canada) each runs on a different set of Quadbands
- Edit -
it might be okay to have the Asia and NZ thrown into the same bucket as SGS i9000
but the Bell model is not known as i9000, rather it is advertized as Samsung Vibrant, yet it is not the same Vibrant that is already in the forum, because the T-mobile Vibrant is different from the Bell Vibrant.... see what i'm getting at?
it would have made sense if bell kept it as i9000, rather than Vibrant
Right, the radio band is different.
Now on some phones this makes no difference firmware-wise: You can load the same ROMs on an "AT&T" or "T-Mobile" Nexus One and it will work on whatever frequencies the phone has.
On others it does make a difference: Motorola Milestone firmwares are specific to either UMTS 850/1900/2100 or 900/2100. Installing the wrong firmware results in loss of 3G in non-2100 countries and degraded 2G performance too. There is a group of files one can copy from one ROM over top of another to force it back to the right bands.
Of course there is only one way to find out... someone needs to obtain a Bell Vibrant, try to root it with the same method, and make a full nandroid backup for safekeeping. Then load on a ROM or nandroid backup from an international Galaxy S. See if it still boots, if 3G still works, etc. I suppose there is a small risk of bricking too though
according to a couple of users that got hands on the device already, they were able to flash the unlocked i9000 firmwares into the Bell Vibrant (still locked)
Hi All,
I returned my "Captivate" especially to buy this phone & however neither "Bell" site nor "Samsung Canada" posted what are the frequency bands but it has the 3G 850 required for AT&T here. I suggest to stick with the international I-9000 Thread because After rooting we will have the same things in common with it.
Thanks
I just called "Bell" & they told me that they unlock the phone for $75 & then I called them again & the Rep wasn't that helpful. I'm willing to pay any amount of money to sim unlock it, any of you guys know a "Guaranteed" site for that?

35$ but there aren't many choices out there.

please see page 3 and 4 of this topic

it is increasingly becoming more confusing and hard to keep up with the different forums, dealing with the same phone
here is yet another perfect example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750947
of people having bricked their phone due the confusion we have in the forums.

Hey guys, I just unlocked mine. there is an app called samsung galaxy s unlock.. It is a free app too.. but it works for the bell galaxy for sure.. pass it on..
I am going to make a suggestion that the threads for the Galaxy Nexus Prime have a better organization than the previous threads. There will be multiple carriers and also a USA and UK model. With this being said, If we could break it up a little rather than doing [UK] or [VZW] etc..... I think that will help a lot in the future.
Just my suggestion.
Please share your thoughts!
Indicating the model would be great. There are plenty of people from the US that ordered UK models. I have an order for 2...
I'd love to get the Tab S 8.4 LTE (T705) but the LTE support in North America is severely lacking (only 2600MHz is supported by both my carrier and the device. I would also want 700 and 1700/2100).
I've seen mention of an "M" variant for South America (mostly Brazil) that also supports the NA frequencies but I'm coming up blank on a suitable source to purchase one. I've found a bunch of what look to be carrier websites but nothing in English and the prices, after exchange, seem to be significantly higher that what I can buy the non-"M" model for.
Does anyone know what the physical differences are between the "M" and the base version, if any?
Are they actually different or are they just using a custom radio firmware in the "M" to support the SA frequencies?
Would it be possible to flash an "M" radio firmware on the standard model to change the operating frequencies?
Thanks in advance.
Good questions, I have no answers, but the new AT&T model might be what you need. Carrier bloat beware.

Never mind carrier bloat, it's what they're taking away that concerns me.
It looks like, in typical fashion, they have disabled the phone features of the device. I don't see any mention of being able to use it as a phone on the pre-order page and the one picture of a home-screen does not have a dialer icon.
It's possible that's the SM-T707A, though. Time will tell; this is still a new device so we'll see what happens when it finally gets into peoples' hands.

The photos don't show an earset opening, so yes, no phone features in the ATT model. Well, I'm at the point of waiting for the Nexus 9 anyway before I make a decision on a new tab. I really like my Note 10, but would prefer it without touchwiz/magazine/etc.
Any luck on finding a place to buy it from yet? I can't find someone to ship to the us.
I just purchased mine a month ago. The only place I found it availible was on ebay. If you want the phone version of the Tab S make sure you purchase SM-T705. This is the phone I purchased. Tab S with phone capability, and factory unlocked.
I have the t705m bought in Brazil (unlocked) however I regret the day I purchased this tablet. I can't get along with Samsung useless apps I can't uninstall and couldn't find an alternative ROM for this device.

taking a chance here...
do you still have this item? If so, are you interested in selling it? Thanks
Short and sweet, do I buy the US 7x for $200 or the Mate SE for $230 with 2x the RAM/ROM?
Seems pretty obvious (go with the SE), but I do care a lot about updates and rooting/roms so just curious what peoples thoughts are there.
Any input?
Sean
I always use gsm arena for phone specs. If you look there (for Honor 7x), and select version 'L24', it will show 'for USA, also known as the Mate SE' (they don't have a separate listing for the Mate SE).
Basically, they are identical phones, so as far as updates etc, they should be the same. Also read on one of the 'twrp for 7x' threads that someone followed the same procedure on their Mate SE and it worked fine. Being the anal type, and knowing they are basically identical, I still verified the Mate SE has the separate vendor partition, required for treble.
Works with T-mo? I'm sure the 2 are the same, but just read they only have 3 of the 5 lte bands t-mo uses. Except, 1 of those bands, B71, only 2 phones in the world have connectivity with! That's the new 600 MHz spectrum T-mo just bought, so that one almost shouldn't even be counted. My SE connects great with t-mo where I am, I'm sure the 7x would be identical.
Which one to go with? honestly, unless yer a heavy user of simultaneous apps, either one. Do you prefer grey or black?

Hi. Today I decided to go on eBay and buy a Note 10 Plus (here in the UK). I cannot live without root, and reading through some threads I've learned that only some variants can be rooted. I don't seem to be able to find a definite answer on existing threads, and I just want to make sure I buy the right one. Which one should I buy? Thank you.
anyone, please?
A few answers for you.
I've seen (not 1st hand) that folks here on xda with US variants have been able to use a online pay service to get their bootloaders unlocked. This may or may not apply to the UK variants.
I'm in US but went the route of purchasing the SM-N9750/DS to have root as that service didn't exist on launch of the Note 10+.
You'd want to check to see which Bands your carrier uses with which the 9750 supports and decide from there.

It appears the Unlock method is only for US variants......you could probably message them and see if UK works with their unlock service
You know what, on second thought (unless it has changed), i thought UK variants were all unlockable......
Maybe that changed....I'm not sure
Thanks for your answers. I've been reading some more and it seems that Exynos ones are easy to unlock and the Snapdragon ones you have to use those online paid methods. Is this correct? Which variant one has more ROM development? Exynos I suppose?
Yes Exynos has way more development. (Virtually none for the Snapdragon), and yup, US and Canadian Snapdragons are locked bootloaders....while the Brazilian, Chinese and a few more international Snapdragons are unlockable like the Exynos. From my limited understanding, the Exynos variants don't perform on par with the Snapdragons...so that's something else to consider.
