Touch pads FXP127 not working on fpse - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey i am using CM9 (GSM) right now and i love it. But the touch pads dont seem to work with FPSe. This is weird because with N64oid they work perfectly.
Did this problem happen to any of you?

i dont think FPSe supports touchpads?

I've tried with K14 & NXT and the touchpads never worked in FPSe I've readed that PSX emulation don't work (or does it bad) in IceCream :/

Actually Im using paranoid ICS ROM right now and PSX emu is working quite well.
Only problem with it is the .5second delay (which I had in GB, but noone ever seems to answer why this is happening) and that circle doesnt work.

I never had any problem with the game pad (touchpads included) in a GB ROM (i've only used stock GB and now Gin2JellyBean). No delays and all works pretty fine.

"Best" ROM for retro gaming?

I know this is a very subjective question, but I would like some input on which ROM you guys think is best for the "oid" emulators on this device? I imagine it to be something based on Gingerbread, with as little bloat so perhaps AOSP or CM7? Or is the stock experience fine for this use?
Many thanks!

If you just use emulators you can also try an ics rom.
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.
on ics (if you find a smooth ics rom, that is) emulators should work fine. also on ics n64oid has analog support (which on gingerbread only mupen64plus has), and it's overall better than mupen64plus on gingerbread in speed and it runs animal forest quite well; dunno for the rest though. on the psx front, fpse has analog support on ics, while on gingerbread only psxperia gives you analog support on psx games and of course there are not many analog controlled games supported by psxperia (soul reaver and mgs don't work, for example).
the other 100% digital controlled emulators should be exactly the same as on gingerbread. thing is, i tried what seems to be the best ics rom to date and it was quite laggy. maybe you'll find a good one for you, as you don't need good gamepad compatibility on android games.
either way, this device is the absolute best mobile emulating machine. even on gingerbread you don't really lose anything. there are just a handful of analog controlled psx games which are not supported by psxperia/mupen64plus, and they play perfectly with the dpad on fpse/n64oid.
therefore, your choice. if you really care about analog control on games you can't play as you wish on gingerbread, look for a smooth ics rom. if you don't care, i suggest trueancestor 2.3.7, as it gives you so much free memory.
Ok thanks ill check it out.

Hi,
I'm only play retro games in my xperia play too. That's the reason why I bought one... At this moment I'm using CM9 RC2, an ICS rom, and the emulators run well.... I'm playing zelda ocarina of time with the lastest n64oid version, touchpads works nice.... very similar as the joystick... Link can run and walk :victory: things you couldn't do with the D-pads.
The snes emulator that works in the ICS roms is, SNESDroid... the SNesoid didn't worked
Other emulators that worked:
GB color: GBCoid
GBA: GameBoid (you need a bios, tell me if you don't have one :highfive
NES: Nesoid
Hope this help you.
Cheers :good:
I suggest True Ancestor ROM too, always free RAM and bloatware removed. It offers great performance in N64oid compared with others ROM's, the mainly reason I use my Xperia Play

I got better performance using N64oid on a ICS ROM (AOKP to be more specfic) and the touchpads work great..
i.e. yoshi's story was skipping on True Ancestor, but ran flawless on AOKP.
EDIT:
The emu's I'm using (has worked for every game i have thrown at each of them)
FPSE - PSX -touchpads on ICS
GBA.emu - GBA
GBC.emu - GBC
MD.emu - MegaDrive
N64oid - N64 -touchpads on ICS
NES.emu - NES
Snes9x EX - SNES
All work with xplay controls on AOKP

Interesting, I quite like aokp too. Are there any features that don't work on ics roms on this device? Things like FM radio don't bother me, but for example data would be needed .

My experience on CM9 was that the OS was smoother than the stock Gingerbread but the emulator's performance was not as good. I could not have full speed with frameskip 0 on Snesoid or Gameboid and a clean sound at the same time. Plus the screen was all pixelized. Maybe AOKP performs better than CM9 ?
Now I'm on CM7, it is fast, there is plenty of free internal memory but I have those issues:
- bad battery life
- no proximity sensor
- some games don't work with the touchpads
I'm wondering if I should try TrueAncestor.
I think you should. There are always psxperia and mupen64plus for touchpads. At least they work with the majority of games that absolutely need touchpads
You can always install cupcake on your phone and get the "retro" games from the android market

N64oid Touch Pads?

This is probably an easy to answer question so here goes... I'm running CM9 RC2 on my Xperia Play and I can't figure out how to map the N64 analog sticks to the Xperia Play touch pads. I heard ICS supports them but I can't find the option to use them. BTW I have the newest version of N64oid (2.7)
Thanks

They should automatically be set up. Try a game that uses them (ie Star Fox 64) and they should already work. Pretty well too.

Are you running CM9 RC2 as well? I tried them on Mario Kart 64, got no results :'(
I was hoping to map the joystick to the left analog pad and the c-buttons to the right analog pad.

No I haven't tried it on CM9 RC2 specifically but I've tried it on the MarkPythons ICS ROM and on the JBX Jellybean ROM which is based on CM10 both of which didn't have anything shown in settings concerning the touchpad but they still worked in game already set up.
oh crap, now they're working! lol, the sensitivity for the left pad is TERRIBLE tho. I admire the fact he added touch pad support to the app but daaaang there needs to be an option to adjust the sensitivity on them!

FPSE on SGS3

Hi there,
About 12 hours ago I installed FPSE from the Play Store. I staretd playing Spyro the Dragon and also FF7. On my google Nexus one, FPSE (Older version) worked perfect with FF7. On my SGS3 with the latest version of FPSE it seeeemmmmsss tooooo lllaaaaaggggggg, both video and sound. Sound is also very choppy. I have installed FPSE and the Roms on my phone inbuilt memory, maybe it needs to be put on my SD card to work better?
Is this happening with anybody else? I searched and found this and they seem to be having the same problem as me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692174&page=3
But that is in the Galaxy Nexus forum, not here the SGS3 forum. Is it the emulator, the phone or app? Is FPSE not optimized for SGS3? I am not rooted, have ICS and have the 16GB unlocked version.
Another problem im having is with the on screen directional joystick/controller/pad. When I move my character around (in either game) it stops as if my finger is no longer touching the direction it wants to go. Hard to explain sorry.
All help is greatly appreciated
***If this is in the wrong section, could somebody please move it to the correct one***
Have you tried playing around with settings? Try OpenGL emulation, I think I used that and it runs well, but try different settings and you should get it up and running well.

Thanks for the idea. I was playing around with the settings last night but there was no change. I did what you suggested by downloading the OpenGL emulation through the FPSE menu, but now my ingame cursor has gone so I have no idea what im clicking on. Help please
psxdroid works flawlessly while running games off my class 10 microSD card. I've played FF9 and other psx games withouty issue what so ever. So my advice is try using psxdroid
My specs:
200/1600MHz Undervolted by 75mV
PhantomGamer's AOKP Build 3.
Vlads AOSP kernel v4

Cheers mate. Now using Psx4Droid and works fine with FF7 unlike Fpse.
It's because of FPSe. I remember a very old version which worked flawlessly with FF7 (which is a pain in the rear to emulate) on most hardware while the newer versions of FPSe breaks FF7.

yea hopefullly somebody can tell us how to do that. i gave up on trying to configure the touch pad and went straight to FPSE which already configured :silly:
Go to ControllerX => Set "Pad Type PSX" to DualShock => Go to controllerX again => Controller X Map axis => Make sure that gamepad ID is xperiaplay => Analog Range - Circle => Left stick X - AXIS_X, Y - AXIS_Y; Right stick X - AXIS_RX, Y - AXIS_RY.
Done. Game must support DualAnalog/Shock controller.
Theoretically must work(i havent games, that support DShock).
Yeah well now Epsxe Does not recognize any button inputs. I give up.
But dude, seriously thanks for your reply
FPSE is a goot option if you need the touchpad fully working.
EpsxeE is good but didnt find a way to make the touchpad work, so sad n64oid dont support touchpad

Epsxe has touchpad support. You have to enable it yourself. Touchpad support is better on epsxe than fpse.

on GB.
In my opinion Fpse offer the best touchpad support and Epsxe its more fluid. I dont like how they implemented the touchpad in epsxe...epsxe sometimes it lose the button and doesnt press like it should (example on crash bandicoot and mosts of games i found it hard to play with analog when character use to walk instead of running)
I know it gets annoying to keep covering games but psx (the ps1 emulator built into the play seems to give me best response with touchpads as well as smooth gameplay. I don't really play ps1 games very much though so those who play them a lot might prefer the emulators

touchpad lag on JB

Everytime I play on an emulator such as N64oid or SNESdroid, my fps drops drastically if i touch the gamepad keys at all. Unfortunately, I use my C pad on the right gamepad, and it does work, but it lags badly. When I tried to play Modern Combat 4, I noticed the same issue was there. I could not play because the gamepad I use to move my guy around was lagging. Is there any fix to this?
I am using LuPuSKernel JB v8 with JB 4.1.2

yep ive seen the same thing on every JB rom. If im not correct the reason is because the touchpad drivers are not offically for JB and have been back ported not compiled form JB source. currently unfix able.

I'm having trouble finding a decent rom for gaming that supports the touchpads without lag. What roms will work? This problem is slightly annoying since it makes it impossible to play Modern Combat and a lot of other games...
well the best answer is always Gingerbread rom with a bit of overclock of necessary, everything works there. just look for a 2.3.7 version rom.
