What are the most suitable games that i can test my gnex's cpu and gpu performance? Thanks.
Y not use a benchmarking app like quadrant?

Does this make a difference in every day performance like playing you tube videos and browsing.

In everyday performance, not really, save for a bit more battery drain.

No, it does not.
it would be interesting if somebody would test both gpu settings on a certain game to see how much it impacts battery life
i'm using 318 on franco nightly and never had slowdowns on videos or in normal apps, never tried games
I have a sprint gnex and I never notice the benefits of overclocking it, its the same if on stock speeds or overclocked and the battery is also the same so what's the benefit?

You usually won't notice a performance increase until you play games
Plus there are performance bottlenecks besides CPU... any of those can come into play.
But as was said... memory and graphics heavy games are where you will notice differences.
Do any of you know what a scheduler is when you go to the CPU settings? I never know which one to pick

Alright let me tell u something.
Clock it down and tell me how slow it is.
So yes over clocking does make a difference. Especially on interactive.

The scheduler controls read/write requests to the flash memory (or HHD in PC)
What options you have available for scheduler depends on the ROM/kernel.
Most should have Noop, and it is a good choice, just stick with it.
I have been looking at jelly bean trinity kernels and I have noticed that they come in different GPU speeds. I was wondering if the GPU stays at 100% the whole time or does it underclock its self when not in heavy use?

The gpu scales too, just like the CPU, albeit at different frequencies, if my memory serves me right (it never does) its like 143, 266 and 384 MHz. Something like that anyway.

Yeah, I believe it uses steps like the CPU for when its not using heavily graphics or calculations.
I think the actual process is a bit more complicated because (if I recall right), the CPU and GPU are integrated.

This a nice thread, thanks for sharing.

Hey guys I have a S3 mini sm-g730w8 and it has an Adreno 305 and I know that the S4 mini also has the same gpu so I was wondering if you guys have a faster gpu and what your gpu governors are because I use my phone for gaming and I've seen videos of s4 minis playing games more smoothly than my s3 mini. And on Antutu I score about 4900 in 3d graphics where as you guys score about 5700. Could your extra 500mb of ram and 500mhz play a factor in that? Btw you can check your gpu speed and Governor using Trickster Mod. Thanks in advance

The S3 has Mali-400, not the Adreno afaik. Plus the SoC krait is totally different between the S3 mini vs S4 mini.

You're actually wrong, the carrier variants SM-G730W8 and SM-G730A both have the Adreno 305 and our SoC, the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8930 is very similar to your MSM8930AB in the S4 Mini. And btw I clearly stated I'm talking about the SM-G730W8 variant not the GT-I8190international variant in my first post so please understand that I wasn't talking about the version with the Mali-400 and the NovaThor SoC. So can anyone check in Trickster Mod what the S4 Mini has as the GPU governor and the max GPU frequency?
Bump

Bump. Could someone please check using trickster mod? Thanks

In a video by Chris nacca with cpu core monitor it showed that GTA SA only used 2 cores while 4 was available? What do u think? Why is it so?
Sent from my GT-I9082 using xda app-developers app
because the game is not optimized yet to work on 4 cores thats why its gonna lag on every one of the new devices, meanwhile on galaxy s2 it works fine, and i guess it needs a bit gpu optimization.....
