Is there a way... - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is there anyway that the notification bar can be pulled down while on a phone call? I know I'm able to do it on my evo lte, but can not do it on my nexus in case I get a message or email and want to look at it without having to press the home key then going into the app.
I noticed that vanilla android phones are the only ones I cannot do this on. Thanks.

Press home and then you should have access to rest of your phone. As much as i hate atnt, multitasking with voice and data is still crazy awesome to me.
butter and jelly please...

Try AOKP ROM, there is an option to enable notification bar while in calls.

[Q] SMS notification on lock screen?

So I picked up a G2 to replace my Iphone 2G, which I've had since the thing came out some four years ago. I've gotten used to my screen lighting up and showing me new text messages on the lock screen, and this feature doesn't exist as far as I can tell on the G2. When I receive a text, it vibrates and plays my notification sound, and the touchpad light blinks periodically. What I would prefer, if the phone is sitting next to me on my desk, would be for it to light up and show me the text and who sent it like the Iphone does so I don't have to unlock the phone and open the messaging app just to see if it's important.
I bought widget locker so I could customize my lock screen a bit, so I suppose if there were a widget for that, I could just toss it on there? Does anyone know of this type of widget? How would I have it turn on the screen for a few seconds when I receive a text? Is this even possible?
Otherwise, I love this phone. Android does so many amazing things. It's like having a computer in my pocket!
SMS Popup Works Well For Me You Can Find It In The Market
Chompsms and handcent both have customizable popup notifications.

How to get back to phone call ?

Is there a way besides sliding the notification bar and clicking on the phone call item to go to the phone call status ? from a shortcut or a widget ?
I'd rather just press home and have it on the screen to return to it.
Would love that too. What makes it worse is when i go to swipe the notification bar, I invariably trigger the proximity sensor which turns off the screen.

or just hit the phone button at the bottom.
Your only other option is to open the dialer/phone app. Meaning, the stock/Sense one, not DialerOne or your replacement dialer.
I can root, install Roms, and all the other geeky ****..
Yet the most basic thing... Making a phone call.... I still cannot figure out..
Flashing over to another call
Three way calling (still cannot figure this out right)
getting back to the phone while in a current call.
Is there a hold button?
LOL

Exactly.
I'm running CM6 and the stock dialer you have to press something extra to get to the actual call.

Getting screen notification when the screen is locked

Is there an app that can display notifications and turn on the backlight when a SMS or Email comes in - When the phone is locked?
Every time a message comes in, I have to press the power button, put in my passcode, and go to the message just to see what it is.
It would be nice to get a Pop-up on the screen with most of the info
For previous Samsungs, there was an app called NoLED, which would light up the screen for notifications. You can see how that is developing for the Nexus.

NoLed works. I use it and light flow together. I never miss a notification now

You may want to try smspopup. It displays a popup when you receive a text message..
However, I'm not sure if it will display over the lock screen when you have a passcode enabled. However, it has a ton of options for managing the popup when locked, so you may want to check it out.

Does NoLed need root? :>
I did a little digging around and found NotifierPro to work best for me.

[Q] Status Bar Access During Call

I am using AOKP Build 36, and on Build 35, there was an option within the dial pad settings to enable stauts bar access during an active phone call. I no longer see this option after upgrading to the latest build, and the status bar does NOT have that feature during a phone call. Anyone have an idea how to change this? Thanks!

I have always just hit the Home key. Didn't know there was a setting.

same as kenny for me. if you hit the home key it will put a phone icon in the status bar, so you can get back to your call while it is still active.

Yeah, I know you can hit the home key, but for instance if you had a text during a phone call and you just wanted to pull the status bar down to see who its from or be able to click the message t bring it right up, that option is no longer on AOKP. It is much more convenient to do it that way than to have to hit home, click messages, and then go back to the main messaging screen and find the new message

shouldn't be too hard. lol the messages that are new go to the top ^.^. if you want that feature, just flash back to the latest build that had it.

App dock on the side of the screen

Im nit rooted, yet. Just got the phone last night and love it. Somehow I got a dock on the side of the screen. Its a little blue tab and if I pull it out it shows recient apps. And it shows up over the top of everything. Games, apps, videos, everything. It wasnt there at first, but I dont know what I did to start it and now cant make it go away. Anyone know how to turn the damn thing off?

It's the multi-view window. It lets you open multiple apps at the same time. Try dragging a couple of those apps into an open app. To make it go away all you have to do is long hold the back button or de-select the multi-view option in the quick toggles in the notification bar.
This community is the best. Long hold on the back button did it. I just upgraded from an Evo. Hopefully this community gets as strong as that one was.

Multi-view is a really cool feature. Play with it and you'll soon wonder how you lived without it.
Texting and Web View are great and the third window as a PopUp - EVEN BETTER ! lol
