As many of us have discovered, Jelly Bean has a lot of problems. If you have discovered a problem, please share it below. If you've discovered a solution to any of these issues, please share it below as well!
Issues in Jelly Bean:
1. Very Low Volume in ear-speaker AND speakerphone (at least compared to AOKP).
Solution: Volume+ app and Franco.kernel app. Unfortunately they only increase volume for music on the speaker only. Volume for the earpiece speaker/calls/ringtones/notifications etc do not improve.
2. No T9 (not an issue bc ICS had no T9 either, but still annoying.)
3. Low Signal/Download Speeds on new LF1 modem
4. Higher Battery Drain than ICS
5. Inaccurate GPS (50% of users)
GPS is off by about 200 yards! No fix that I know of yet.
Update: this may be a problem with the google maps update. May not be related to Jelly Bean!

Weird... I just drove from Chicago to Upstate NY, with my phone as my GPS, running Liquids JB. Didn't have a single problem with accuracy.
My battery has been fine, GPS was perfect on a recent trip as well.
#2 is not really an issue, that's how Google intended it.

#3. I am using I9250XXLF1 on Rogers/Fido in a highrise in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The download/upload rates are low. And the signal bars keep alternating between 2 bars and full bars. I need a modem that prioritizes the 850 band.
#4. Battery drain is about 2% every few minutes in active use. I'm guessing it is the GPS requirement for Google Now that is draining the battery. I read that people who turned off the GPS had the battery drain stop.

Really? Mine's accurate to 10 meters. In canada with GSM galaxy nexus.
Titanium backup corrupts some apps, Nova 3 doesn't work, MX player, Mobo Player, Dice player doesn't work (I'm currently using Super Video as an alternative). Flash is slightly buggy causing force closes, but it occasionally works (Videos stop buffering about 5 minutes in). Apex launcher force closes. LMT Launcher turns invisible if you rotate screen.
My Low volume was fixed by using team infernos rom. You can also try Volume+ to see if that helps. My download speeds seem fine also.
Edit: MX player has been updated, it works again

#3. Maybe your phone just dislikes XXLF1.. Revert back to your older radio. Radio performance varies based on the area you're in. Your phone possibly just doesn't like that radio. Maybe in this case radios with the prefix "UG" would help you.
#4. Sounds like it could be a app (or a wakelock) causing that. Open up Google Now and take some of the "cards" off that you don't need.. or set it to a lower priority. And yeah I agree with you, it's definitely using more from the GPS.

I did a Zombie Run today which uses GPS (the app is called Zombies, Run! for anyone interested) and while it didnt plot my route as accurately as previous runs it seemed to track my speed/distance/route without issue.
I find battery drain very similar to ICS
Rogers in Toronto.
Signal, download speed, battery life, all good.
No T9 I don't think is an issue.
My problem is actually the responsiveness of the stock keyboard. It tends to lag behind when typing fast after flashing JB. On ICS, the keyboard was perfect and responsive. Sometimes it even misses touches. Other keyboards, like swype and swift key 3 don't do this.
Running all stock JB. Kernel, ROM, XXLF1 modem, LC03 boot loader.

I'm having the GPS issues also. So far only took 1 trip with it, but my location was about 100 yards off to the west of where I actually was.
Has anyone had issues with TiBu? I tried to restore data for some of my apps, but TiBu FCs after I put in my password.
BTW, I'm using Vicisous V3.

It seems like there are many things changed and/or fixed in FD24 build [rom/kernel/modem]
FD24 ICS OTA is now availabe and you can download it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619474
Big thanks to kc_exactly for his post and ACS team for providing the download link.
Update: I just updated another phone from Stock Rooted EL29 to Stock rooted FD24.
I tried to update one of my stock rooted EL29 phone following the QBKing's guide but no success for rooted phone (downloaded OTA version). So, used sfhub's no data FD24 one-click odin method. No wipe at all and just flashed over EL29.
Before: EL29 modem/EL29 Rom/Rogue EL29 recovery Kernel/rooted.
After: FD24 modem/FD24 Rom/Stock Kernel/rooted.
There was nothing special and just used sfhub's one-click odin. Everything worked like a charm.
Please post your findings in here.
First Noticeable change made - notification bug fixed (sfhub reported).
Menu -> Settings - items rearranged. System updates separated from About phone
'Activate this device' menu added to settings (with improved options. You can update the profile and prl from here also)
For me, I'm getting one or two more voice signal bar after flashing it. I need some people confirms that - if this is true, the battery life would be great in this rom!
*3G*
So far, battery life is not bad at all. - 1 hour 50 minutes - 4% used (mine only and based on my usage)
update:
3 hours - 6% drop with 3G.
3 and half - 7%. About 1% drop in every 30 minutes so far.
9 hours - 20% with 3G. This is real big improvement and my test was focus on the battery savings during the idle time (only with my tweaks and not using any battery saving apps). Now I'm planing to test about battery consumption only using wifi.
*Wifi*
With same condition, I've tested wifi battery consumption and it was not good when it's compared with 3g battery consumption.
6 hours - 20% used with wifi turned on all the time.
*4G*
*Turn Off everything - Voice Signal Only*
Update: To extend your battery life even more, check this thread out - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610741
Collections of changes - FD24
Reserved for collections of changes.
Some update related screenshots added.
*What's working or not *
.flac format music not supported (jerrypp)
wifi icon changed. It used to have the up and down arrows showing the traffic - moved back to previous version - weboide
Chrome is fixed? (satur9ine) - Nope. Bad scroll stutter, some locking up (kingdazy)
bluetooth devices wouldn't autoreconnect/autoconnect - fixed (Compusmurf)
bluetooth "bug" that's still there (Compusmurf, Dchibro)
JabraClip still isn't able to pair with my device (beast4romtheeast)
when screen is off bluetooth voice activation does not function at all (grncherry)
getting force closes of the email app in combined view only (Kamrondroid, sqb33, jamesey) - replace the emial app with previous version (workaround)
Battery timing is much improved then previous leaks but wifi reception has suffered ([email protected])
* still big discussion is going on in everywhere about the scrolling, camera and bluetooth devices. Many users reported that scrolling is not smooth but more people reported that it's better than previous build.
*battery life*
Battery life is really great for me. I tested the battery life during the phone is in sleep or idle mode. So far, this one is the best rom I've ever been used. Battery life could be different based on the signal strength and phone usage. So this result is only based on my usage and limited in my location. But generally speaking, this would be the same trend in your situation also.

I can not play .flac format music

Nope. Screenshots were taken after my tweaks. I'm using flip font as default.
The wifi icon changed. It used to have the up and down arrows showing the traffic.
The scroll seems faster.
It also seems like the fading (when it goes to sleep or wakes up) is slower, more noticeable than FD19.
Signal seems weaker at first glance, but haven't really looked into it yet.

Very very nice to hear from you steady in here. Does this mean you are doing something, right? Was waiting for your rom long long time.
Wonder if the Wi-Fi may be related to a change in other Wi-Fi settings... I don't get my E4GT back full-time for another 12 days but I'll definitely have to test my particular issue once I can get it to the office. I'm optimistic this meant they stuck with what worked on GB and just recompiled the driver for ICS.
8 days without a fix hopefully means they squashed a lot of bugs. May also (hopefully!) mean we're getting another step closer to OTA.
If anyone has a peek at the official changelog can you please see a PM? Have a few ??s to see if maybe it will hint if the issues were addressed or not.
A bluetooth "bug" that's still there:
On headsets that had BT audio AND phone, you used to be able to unselect the BT audio profile and it would stick. This no longer works. On reconnect, the "disabled" profile will start back up each time.
Ah well, not a big issue, I can force it off in my headset. LOL

Not bad so far after I plugged out. 1 and half hour - 5% used (Actually measuring started from 98, was not fully charged).

Mine was already doing this on previous builds. It's annoying because having media audio connected to my Sony car stereo causes my phone to randomly reboot. Then again, that's a symptom of bigger problems with Bluetooth ... for me anyways.
Any recommendations? I switched from CM 7.2 stable to CM 9 RC2 (both with V6 Supercharge) and while I love the new ICS UI, it's definitely a lot slower/more power hungry/unstable. I frequently get ANRs, FCs random hangs and reboots. Also, text display corruption and 720p video recording isn't working either.
Is there anything better in terms of stability and speed? Would prefer a stock ICS look.
Aokp then..its good enough..

Best ICS rom
Hy everyone,
In april leaved the Virtuous team ROM (what was the name? Oh, Unity 2.05) to install the Sensewich beta 6 with ICS.
IMHO it was very fast, with Sense 4.0, ICS 4.0.3., simply faboulous. The drawback was that the hot spot wifi doesn't work, the camera doesn't work, usb tethering does not work and sometime became a little bit slowly, just for some seconds/minutes.
Now, since yesterday, I use the Sensewich beta 8. Same features of beta 6, but now the camera is ok (w/o AF), but still no camcorder, hot spot wifi works after several reboot, no usb tethering but, the worst issue is that the bluetooth now doesn't work!
I discovered this just this evening when I entered in my car: I turn on the bluetooth but no connection, the phone crash, it needed to tear down the battery to restart it. When arrived at home, I saw on the thread that the bluetooth is not available.
So, next weeks I will be on holiday without car, so I can accept this issue, but I hope (and I guess) who xT4Z1N4TRx is working yet to solve this issue. Not acceptable issue!
My favorite is in my sig. Its super fast, havent had any glitches or force closes. In fact each day I still cant believe how fast it is and that I am using ICS on a G2!! I'd highly recommend it and the dev is constantly updating it; he just released an update last week..
I havent had any issues with text distortion and actually know that you mention it I havent tried the video recorder yet. But its beautiful with everything else
I would recommend mimicry. It's unbelievably smooth.

Thanks. Will probably try mimicry. Since they're both based on CM9, do I need to do a full wipe if I'm coming from CM9 RC2? Or will a dalvik wipe suffice?

Someone know how could I install Locations, in order to use the GPS navigation? I've bought the Europe navigation perpetual license!

I'm not familiar enough with sense locations. From searching the forums I saw a post by a member that it wouldn't work without sense. You can try backing it up titanium backup and restoring and hopefully it'll work. My understanding is that it'll probably need some htc sense frameworks that are most likely missing in any aosp based rom

I've just download the Virtuous Infinity 1.31.0 Alpha 2 which has all the main features working (camera, wifi, bluetooth). Reading some posts in the specific thread, I saw this ROM seems slow, lazy (a post say"Slow is an understatement!").

Yes, it drains my battery QUITE fast the second I turn on the display, and I haven't really found a fix for it in any way. Clocking my CPU back down, different CPU governors, forcing (or not forcing) hardware acceleration... none of it works. My phone doesn't use much battery at all, until I actually use it, and then I can literally sit there and watch my battery counter count down.
Would anything help this?

Over the span of 20h I get 4-4.5 hours of screen on. That said though, ICS will use more juice than GB.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
It definitely uses more juice than CM 7.2. There are also a couple of problems, particularly using Chrome. Sometimes when I click on a link on facebook and choose Chrome to open it, the page will load halfway and just hang there, becoming unresponsive to everything, including hardware buttons. I will then have to pull the battery out, or just wait for it to heat up and then auto-reboot. I haven't noticed this when I start Chrome manually and surf, but that could be just a coincidence.
Also, unlike CM 7.x, there's no way of specifying an additional timeout after screen off before screen lock(PIN/password/pattern) activates. It's quite irritating to always have to authenticate myself when I turn my screen off and on again, even if it's just 2s later.

Chrome has numerous bugs on our device when using any ICS rom, a number of them are filed in the chrome bug tracker so all you can do is wait for Google to address those issues.
As for delayed lock, it of course works perfectly in ICS. I don't know where you're looking but it's under Settings - Lock screen - Screen Security.
Also, FYI, the Facebook app on ICS is also prone to issues with lag and wakelock abuse amongst some of the reported problems. Until they fix those, it's recommended that you use an alternative client.

I've combed through Settings->Lock Screen->Screen Security numerous times, but I've yet to find a way to achieve what I want, which is to set a delay n such that my screen lock will only activate n seconds after I press the power button to turn my screen off. My "Automatically lock" is set to "1 minute after sleep", my "Power button instantly locks" is disabled and my "Screen lock" is "Secured with pattern". How exactly can I get it to "work perfectly"? Right now it's simply not working.
Also, I'm using Friendcaster most of the time, though I do also have Facebook installed, but notifications disabled though.

Hm I dunno, I just tested it & it seemed to work for me. Maybe try setting your lockscreen to slide or off, then resetting your pin? I don't normally use a secure lock though.
Good on you for using friendcaster!
Just wanted to post my experience with battery life and Mimicry. On GB I had great battery life; no complaints. I easily got a full day with moderate use (3-4 hours screen time). But I was pleasantly surprised with the extended life I saw with Mimicry. In fact, I was prepared to see a decrease. I'm quite careful to not use apps/settings which demand resources if they are not absolutely necessary. That said, without much different in the way of apps/settings, Mimicry provides slightly better battery life than ILWT (based on CM7). Obviously, results do vary...
I must say, I love my T989 except for the GPS. It is by far the best phone I have ever owned.
Problem is, I use GPS daily for my job. The GPS just always seems to be problematic in that while driving, using Google Navigation, the GPS signal randomly drops out. I will be driving, and miss a turn because the GPS seemingly lost signal, then after 30-90 seconds, it regains signal and the Navigation catches up. The entire time I am driving, the blue circle around the blue arrow in google navigation seems pretty big. This circle indicates how accurate the GPS is and it seems I never get really good accuracy. It seems like I just get low GPS locking ability and thus it's not always exactly accurate and frequently drops for a 30-90 seconds.
I have tried Jedi Knight ROM based on 4.0.4 and it was the worst, nearly unusable, took forever to lock and dropped a lot.
I am now using Jedi Mind Trick based on 4.0.3 and it seems to lock decently fast, but still never gets entirely accurate like my HTC phones all did, and it still drops for 30-90 seconds often, making it very hard to rely on for Navigation.
Many times I have flashed AGPS.zip and that helps lock faster, but the GPS still drops often and never seems to get reliably accurate.
I know this fixes it for many, and has made Jedi Mind Trick usable for me, but still not very dependable.
Does this phone just have a crappy GPS Receiver?
I haven't tried roms before 4.0.3, did GPS work better on earlier versions, or before ICS?
Is there any roms I should try that might work better with GPS Navigation?
Anyone using GPS daily without any drops at all? If so, what ROM?
Should I try different Radios or something?

I had similar problems with jmt and other ROMs, even after trying several of the GPS fixes.
I've been using cm10 nightly 10/12 build now and GPS is perfect, nearly instant locks and no drops during navigation.
The only downside I've found is battery life, its not horrible but its no jmt either. Expect 12-16 hour battery life.
To me, jellybean offers so much that I'm willing to forgive battery life for the first time.
Hope his helps

I dont know why some of you have issue with GPS. The issue is not from the rom. I think your phone might be in a bad batch or your GPS files are not set up correctly.
For me, GPS on our phone is very great. It locks fast and never loses signal. The accuracy is within 20 feet.

I also use the GPS almost daily to track my runs with Endomondo application, and sometimes specially when running slow the GPS gets fixed to a location and will not update until 15-30 seconds after, maybe the same happens to you when driving in the city and you are very slow.
There is a feature called "GPS Static Navigation" that Samsung disabled by default in some of their phones, basically on the ones using a SirfIV GPS Chipset. The problem here is that our phone (SGH-T989) does not us that type of GPS Chip(set).
I've been trying to find a way to know the status of the GPS Static Navigation in our phone, but I haven't found anything about it just the info got from pdadb.net which is the following;
Satellite-Navigation
Built-in;GPS_module: Supported
GPSrotocol: NMEA 0183
GPS_Antenna: Internal antenna
Complementary-GPS;Services: Assisted GPS, QuickGPS, Geotagging, Simultaneous GPS
Navigation:Chip(set): Qualcomm gpsOne
Since this Chip(set) works with Assisted GPS, trying GPS Status application from Google Market and going to Menu / Tools / Manage A-GPS state / Download; it will help you a little bit since it will download the A-GPS XTRA Data (works better and faster if you do it while using Wi-Fi) that will help GPS to lock faster and get accurate positioning while on the road, it will last some days but it is not a definitive solution.
I still researching on knowing more about how "GPS Static Navigation" works in our phone, I even opened a question discussion about it @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940294
Please let me know if some of you know more about this,
Thanks, and hope this give you a bit more insights about it!

No, it is the ROM. With every ROM flash GPS files get over written but never cleaned up. I constantly have to flash the aGPS fix to get GPS back. That goes for every other android phone I've owned too.

That's weird. I have flashed jedi, AOKP, CM, and i never had problem with GPS. I also own Galaxy S 4G, which has a crappy GPS due to the hardware failure. No Rom or app can fix that. That's why i think it is not Rom issue.

Was stock rom GPS any good? Try stock first and go from there to pinpoint issue

I had the Vibrant S and I know what youre saying!
I agree that it's possibly your GPS at fault. I've tried multiple ROMs (using Jedi Mind Trick X now) and have always very fast GPS lock and great accuracy when using ICS ROMs.
Just continuing the old Nitro tradition of having a discussion thread for each new set of Cyanogenmod Nightlies that come out.

That's completely unnecessary. My Nitro hasn't been wiped since CM9, and generally CM does NOT need wipes when upgrading itself. If you're coming from other software or third-party ("UNOFFICIAL") builds of CM, do wipe.

What's your recommended way to update GApps?
I originally updated through CMUpdater, then flashed GApps (perceived I had some issues, but not sure now). So I reverted to backup and flashed the CM10.1 Zip and GApps Zip in CWM Recovery at the same time.
@aremcee
Did absolutely not know that. Thanks dude. Updating OP.
can anyone running latest nightly check if MHL is working?
Just checking in on this new thread. Installed the first CM10.1 nightly the other day, and it was flawless. No reboots or anything yet. Everything is smooth as can be, even on conservative governor. Somehow significantly better than CM10 stable . Also, the 4G toggle sticks now. Have updated to the latest nightly, and it's just as good.
Only complaint I have is of the new homescreen widget format. They now leave a lot of blank space, making the widgets themselves smaller while taking more space. I'm not sure why they did that.
Edit: Never mind the 4G toggle still malfunctions randomly. But I have finally found a workaround! Just turn off mobile data, change it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA, and then turn data back on. The thing is smooth as anything though.

To fix the space issue: go to setting, launcher, homescreen and check stretch screens.

So what's the idea on battery life? I know it's relative to each individual's use, but CM10 w/ light to moderate use had a 7-8% drain/hr and when using the phone you could watch the battery life just drop.. Is it still the same w/ 4.2.1 (CM10.1)? TIA
Has anyone had a problem syncing their exchange calendar using the 02-10 build (perhaps others too) after a fresh wipe? My Google calendar syncs properly, but no work events.
Also, I noticed if I use more than 5 rows of home screen icons, that I lose the text/titles below them.
Any tips appreciated!

In case anyone runs into the same issue: I found a solution: if you turn on automatic syncing in email for the account, the calendar app will update itself. Seems to be working fine now.

Are you using the kernel it is bundled with or Wind?

Not so for me, see battery dropping 1-2% per minute even only being used moderately, it seems that Quattrimus with Wind kernel gives EXCELLENT battery life but it's LTE doesn't work for Canada and GPS doesn't work. Now I'm suspecting LTE might be an issue for battery problem in Canada, even when I'm connecting only at 2G and 3G, need to do more test.

Bundled kernel. I hardly use the device but i can push about 3 - 4 hours screen on time. Standby is good to... About 5 days on standby with an hour of screen on.

I switched the governor to smartassv2 and clock speed to 192/1404. I'll run it like this for a few days and see how it does, I'll post results. I run GreenPower Premium (similar to Juice Defender).
Installed on a P936, but cannot connect to LTE network. Only HSPA is connected. Returned to CM10 and LTE is ok.
Anyone having the same issue?
Edits: just found out I forgot to set APN. Now it is ok.
Noticed steady battery drain even when idle... BetteryBatteryStats showed "AudioOut_2" causing partial wakelock. I disabled every app that I thought could be causing it and it was still there. Finally I unchecked 'Settings > Sounds > Touch Sounds' and the pw disappeared. So far so good- battery drain seems to have slowed. I'll continue to test.
What kernels are you guys using to get governors?
This is the list of problems i faced when tried cm-based/stock-based roms
all CM-based, CM itself (10.2+):
1. ear-speaker: you won't hear in skype, viber csipsimple etc.
2. ear-speaker: you won't hear a caller (regular gsm line) if headphones are plugged in.
3. Battery life: each hour consumed about 6%-8% doing only background sync with display turned off. That's very-very bad.
stock-based (V5)
1. Knock-on feature. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. You can't rely on it at 100%.
2. GSM signal issue: phone may lose gsm conection during normal usage (crossmark appears near gsm-signal level) My device loses it for about 30sec, several times a day.
Quick memo

Had same issue with signal. In the v5 thread someone posted apn to change to and since have not list signal once

I haven't had any of the problems you described lol. In fact, just about all 4.4 ROMs I've tried have almost as good of battery life as stock with MIUI (4.2.2) having even better battery life than stock. :3

Lol exactly I don't know what the OP is on.....its probably because he is only using CM 10.2 and not CM11.........I don't know why he would even post since many are not even using CM10 anymore.......CM11 is so much nicer

I've absolutely had every problem the OP posted including poor GPS tracking as well. Performance on the 4.4 ROMS is greatly improved compared to stock, but I certainly get horrid screen on battery drain and lack of signal quality. I also struggle with obscure wakelocks with 4.4 ROMS, and that includes CM11, Commitio, Vanir, Candy Kat and Beanstalk. I've tried several. Not trying to dispute what you're saying, just confirming that the OP's statements are legit.
Hence the reason I personally keep going back to rooted, de-bloated, stock and using ROM Manager to set my governor. That has given me the best battery life, stability and relatively decent performance.

Give Carbon a shot. It's my daily driver now that Oblikas updated it. As for the bad battery, give the OC'd kernel that uppon2 posted here in the general section a shot. Besides OC, the kernel has definitely improved overall performance and battery life on my device since I started using it.
To fix the GPS tracking, flash the EFS backup you should've made on stock when you used freegee. My GPS locks on instantly.
As for the "low signal," stock ROMs display higher signal than what you're actually getting. When you use an AOSP ROM, it shows what you're actually getting. If you pull up the hidden menu and check the dBm, that's your actual signal strength. I get the same dBm on AOSP and stock, yet stock shows full bars and AOSP shows 3 and my speeds are exactly the same.

I've seen some threads on QuickRemote on the apps forum, but have you guys successfully ported QuickRemote onto non-stock ROMs without issues?
The only issue I've had on custom roms is that my mp3s skip and stutter while playing them. I've tried about 4 different roms and they all do it. The only way for me to listen to my music was to go back to stock.

Do yourself a favor OP and get a zero lemon battery and then try the CPU quiet kernel in the general section.....I'm getting 3-4 days on it with medium use......I use titanium backup widgets to freeze apps that have annoying wakelocks and greenify as well.....I'm currently running the Beanstalk 4.4 ROM and it is better than any ROM I have ever used

To be honest, I recently tried vanir again. Was not disappointed by the speed at first. Then I was, and disappointed by battery drain, connection issues, NFC would stay on, and a lot of other stuff. And yeah, I've gotten quick remote to work flawlessly on vanir. All you have to do is flash it

most of this issues you have discribe were a result of dirty flashing. people not clearing all data before flashing because they didnt want to reinstall app. battery life on all 4.4.2 rom is almost as good as stock and i have had no issue with hearing people while talking, dont use skype so not sure their. call waiting ringer is only calling issue i had but turning on call waiting vibrate would let me know i had a second call and worked for me.
