Wonder if anybody has this problem, when receiving pixs via mms they come blurrry, sending is no problem but receiving is just impossible cause they come up blurry.....
We're using Mobilicity in Canada and the phone is T-Mo unlocked.
...thx for the replies....
what rom are u running? or is it stock?
Thx for replying, is using stock, and it seems like is an issue on the phone, like the app is not properly written, sending mms between the phones (T989) is useless, while sending mms from the t989 to my N8 works no problem cause the pix shows perfect on my phone, but receiving on the T989 looks as if it's a no go, every time there is an incoming mms the phone compresses the pic and the result is craptacular, I'm going to try Handcent (from the market) to c if that fixes the issue which will basically clear the water about the stock app as the reason for the faulty mms.
Again thx for the reply.
Ok so it seems like the MMS on Mobilicity don't work, I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to check the settings for MMS, I have look around and I'm extremely blind about it.
I want to compare with my N8 since I can send and receive no problem on my phone but I still can't make it to receive properly on the T989.
No MMS pics on TMO T989
On the Tmobile network, no pictures are received. I spent an hour with customer support on New Years Eve, trying to view what would have gotten my GF beads on Mardi Gra, but TMO CSR said they have had problems since Dec 15 on Samsung phones, in particular the T989. It can not receive MMS pics, and has a difficult time sending them, took 30 min for one pic to go out, either wifi or on the network and no work around.
Generous tech supt offered to issue me a $1 credit on my bill. Will be going back to my local store for a refund on Monday.

Blurry MMS
I'm using a custom rom and when I receive pics they are small and blurry. I always come across this problem with certain roms...but this particular rom I love it and really dont want to change right now so that's why now i'm taking the time to try and find a fix. Any help?

Try that.
I have been using my Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile for almost a week now and have encountered a very strange issue that I have not be able to get to the bottom of. When sending MMS picture messages, regardless of picture size / quality, all messages appear to send just fine. However, depending on the recipient, the message either arrives just fine, no problems, or it is just a blank message! I have talked to T-Mobile support for hours today to no avail, as well as Samsung support also with no solution. I have tried changing my APN settings, adding MMSC proxy and port, and changing my device within the my.t-mobile.com settings and nothing seems to matter.
Here are my findings on what recipients receive the messages successfully and who receives a blank message:
Code:
Device Carrier Result
Galaxy Nexus AT&T Fail
HTC Desire AT&T Fail
Galaxy S II Skyrocket AT&T Fail
Galaxy Nexus Verizon Fail
LG Android T-Mobile Fail
HTC Hero Sprint Success
LG Optimus T-Mobile Success
iPhone 3GS AT&T Success
iPhone 4 AT&T Success
Is anyone else on T-Mobile USA experiencing this issue? And can anyone offer any solution?
I'm on T-Mo and I'm not aware of any issues, but I'll keep an eye on things...
It seems like I'm seeing something similar. MMS sent to T-Mobile recipients send fine consistently, but my girlfriend has AT&T and it fails intermittently. I haven't found the reason either, but interesting to see that someone else experiences this.
I've also seen this behavior with my Nexus S.

The only thing I've been able to determine is that it must be a result of T-Mobile + Galaxy Nexus. I actually didn't experience this issue with my Nexus S, and friends of mine using Galaxy Nexus + AT&T or Galaxy Nexus + Verizon do not experience this issue.
Updated original post to add confirmation that HTC Hero on Sprint successfully received MMS picture message
Are you running the stock MMS app? do you have one from the market, or a tweaked one from a ROM? maybe it is sending picture in an incompatible format....

Sorry, should have mentioned this in the original post:
Running stock ICS (4.0.2) no root with a locked bootloader
Using the stock messaging app and have not downloaded any replacement messaging apps. I had the same setup on my Nexus S before my GN and did not experience this issue.
I haven't noticed any issues yet, but I think i've only sent MMS messages to an iPhone 4 user and a Blackberry user on AT&T.
Just to add another couple data points...
I'm T-Mobile with my GNex at version 4.0.2.
When I send a picture to my wife's Galaxy S 4G (also on T-Mo), she seems to receive it fine.
When I send a picture to my mother's original Droid on verizon, she gets a tiny, thumbnail sized picture that only gets displayed for a split second before it disappears.
I have no issues receiving MMS pics from either phone.

Very interesting... I will check if my failed recipients are seeing a tiny thumbnail before it shows up blank as well
Thanks for the reply
Im using Apex rom and when I try and send a captured camera picture to a verizon customer I get and error. Something like service not activated on network. I think the picture size is too large for t-mobile MMS, as I can send a FFC picture just not a rear camera one. Any ideas on how to auto crop rear pictures, or how to fix this. OK just figured it out, if I lower the resolution when taking the picture it works, just would be better if the MMS program did it for me.
I'm on a stock CDMA Galaxy Nexus with Telus (Canada).
I can't receive MMS (specificially pictures) from any of my friends with iPhones. I can receive them from my friend that has a Galaxy Nexus as well, but not iPhones.
Doesn't make a difference if it's an image and text or if it's just the image.
Anybody have any ideas? I've done a bit of googling but haven't seemed to find any solutions.
obviosly because the sender it's an iphone.....
i never sent (nor received as my memory work) an mms so could you ask your friend to change the type of the image(like type (png->jpg), less heavy in terms of KBs and dimensio)?

My GF have a iPhlopne (whatever ), and we have no problems with exchanging pictures through MMS. Can your friend recieve the MMS's from your iPhlopne (whatever) friends?
Did you reset your default APNs?
Settings-More-Mobile Networks-Access Point Names-Restore to default.
Had issues with MMS before and this solved it.
Tried resetting the APN, didn't do the trick
I can send them images but nothing happens when they send them to me no notification or anything

Sounds to me that the problem is in their end, not your. Either that or your carrier doesn't like iphones

Maybe your Nexus is just ridiculously smart and has an opinion about certain phones

Hello!
Registered just so I could possibly help you in your situation.
Did you have an iPhone before you got your Nexus?
If you did, I may have a solution to your problem.
I had the same problem after I got my Nexus. iMessage was the culprit. If you didn't deactivate it properly - other people with iPhones - that had you as a contact still thinks your number is associated with an iPhone. Apple must keep this internally within their servers (just a thought).
This will happen if you PORTED your number to your new phone OR kept the same number when you went to the Nexus.
Anyhow, it's a simple fix - at least for me it was.

What's the fix? I have the same problem as the original poster and I had an iPhone previous to my Samsung Galaxy S2. I cannot receive MMS from any of my iPhone using friends. How do you deactivate iMessage?
now that you mention this, i have this problem as well!!!
Many of my iphone users claim they send something via MMS and nothing is received. We then use email.
You may be on to something here

Download handcent sms from the market and set it as the default MMS app then go to stock messaging app and disable notifications and you should be good to go...
Just to update as I see this has been bumped - I called my carrier and they were able to fix the issue.
No idea what they did but they just had me do a battery pull, sent me a couple images to test it and it worked fine.
Hey guys, i bought the international Note 2 and i'm using it on AT&T about 2 days after getting the phone i stopped getting SMS, I can send them but i cannot receive them. I swapped a sim in the AT&T store and it worked. 3 days later same problem and now getting a new sim didn't help. I can receive MMS and send MMS or SMS, I just cant receive regular SMS messages. Does anyone have any clue what the problem might be? Thank you in advance.
If you use different languages, make sure you set the coding of SMS to Unicode in the settings menu of SMS.
Other than that, check if you have this message center number: +13123149810
If still not working, someone else needs to chime in
Check your APN settings, settings->more setting -> Mobile Networks->Access Point Names.
Make sure these are setup correctly I wouldn't just rely on the phone gathering these automatically.
Are you on the stock ROM or have you flashed a custome ROM?
If you have flashed a custom ROM I would suggest doing a full wipe and re-test.
If that doesn't work I'll look at getting a new phone.
Hey man dont worry about that. My friend has a galaxy s3 international and had the same problem. It has nothing to do with setting or differents roms. It att issues. What he did was call att, after a couple of days the phone began to receive sms then again tue same problem. He called again and i am not sure what they did but after 24 hours the problem was solved. So just call them and see man.
Good luck

So does anyone have any insight on this topic or a solution? I have done a factory reset twice and even called At&T with no resolution. My phone was working great till a few days ago.

I have an international Note 2, also on AT&T. Post your APN settings and I'll compare it with mine to see what is the difference.
I'm having the exact same issue again. First time, I did a hard reset, and it resolved the issue. I don't feel like doing that again, so i'm on the phone with AT&T right now and we'll see what they say.
so... AT&T cannot determine why this is happening. I took my sim card out of my phone and put it in another AT&T branded phone (the GN2 is my work phone), and once I did, all text messages I missed came into my phone. I swapped the Sim cards back, and now it works as intended, and I'm receiving text messages again. The tech is calling Samsung now to see if they can offer any assistance.
Seems like whatever the issue is was resolved when I swapped phones. I figure it'll work for a week or so, as it did last time, and then will stop and I'll have to swap Sims again to perform a quick fix.
any Telecommunication guru's out there have any idea?
Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 on AT&T, my phone is rooted and currently running CM10.2 with Quantum ROM v2.12, and I can't send GIF's to my friends via MMS.
I was ignored in the ROM-specific thread, so I figured that I should make my own thread in the section dedicated to answering questions. And I'm not sure if my issue is even ROM-based.
But I digress, I need to be able to send GIF's via MMS to my friends. I can send and receive pictures and video just fine, and I can even receive GIF's without any trouble, my only problem is actually sending them. When I try to send a GIF, what ends up going through is just a still picture.
Help?

Maybe nobody knows your answer?
Make a nandroid and flash something else then test???
You should tell all your friends to switch over to google hangouts if possible since hangouts does SMS, MMS, and handles GIFS as well.
