I guess since the Nexus 7 is shipping from the UK's Play Store, the Galaxy Nexus should be too, but I haven't found any pricing information. Can anyone in the UK check this?
Only the Nexus 7 is available under the 'Devices' section in the UK Play store currently.
I'd be interested to see how the price drop would convert into £ too.
Wow, that's just stupid. If they can sell the Nexus 7, they might as well sell the GN as well. Man..

Yes its the same. It's unlocked and will work anywhere in the world. The Play Store only ships to the US though. Have to buy from a different importer, or from a phone shop in Germany.
There's nothing special about the Play Store version though... it just has Google Wallet preloaded, that's it.

The question is, why would you go through all that trouble? It's not like it's cheaper. If customs opens the package and that's very likely, it'll end up costing you even more than in any local MediaMarkt who are selling them for around 360€.

Its gonna be more expensive to have them buy it in the US + tax + shipping, then pay to ship it to you + customs (potentially).
Just buy it directly and have it shipped to Germany.

Well, right now there is no better price than buying it in the U.S. and importing it, in my opinion. The phone will be about $380 including tax and shipping. This is 310 Euros. Tax for delivery to Germany will be about 40 Euros. So it is 350 Euros effectively.
I can't find any store that sells the Nexus for this price in Germany right now. Do you?
And which U.S. store is selling the Nexus at a comparable price that will ship to Germany?

This summer right after the 'apple ban' was lifted, no Site Google was pointing towards could ship a GNex. I had to drive around to find a retailer that had one in stock. Eventually I purchased one for €380.-
The other day I noticed a large retailer is asking €519.- with a discount to €429.- right now! Is the GNex getting rare already or what?!

The phone isn't rare. You can get them all over.
Maybe in the USA, but in Europe you can't order online from Google.

In the UK pretty much the only way you can get one is online. Shops stopped selling them about 7/8 months ago.
I bought mine in july for about 375€. At the moment there are some special offers for about 300€. I think this is quite fair for such a good phone.
Now that Google Play has replaced the $350 Galaxy Nexus with the N4 at $300/350 are there still new Galaxy Nexus being sold at a discount? If there is still new stock remaining I would think they go for less, if not now once the N4 ships.
I was disappointed the N4 doesn't have LTE and was thinking that a lower cost GN would do until there was an LTE model.
I'm sure you could find one on craigslist or ebay right now, but they aren't on the Play Store anymore.

It should be possible to place an order somewhere in the UK, because as they have the play store, places such as Carphone warehouse will have similar pricings.
So don't worry. LG will soon enough discover that they cannot possibly expect people to pay twice as much.
