The kernel is the foundation and most important part of any Rom ...to answer your question ...yes you can flash it
I like my Roms the way I like my women..... Clean and smooth
Yes you can...and honestly you should !!!! I got my s2 back in February and I took time to actually read up on my phone an one feature I liked in juggs 5.0 that I didn't really find in a lot of Ics roms is overclocking. Trust me flash the kernel.

Interesting. What governor where you using when benchmarking Cause As I am sure you are aware his defaults to a battery saver option with BADASS.

On #5 its not badass according to his post...its ondemand...
Available CPU Governors:
conservative, performance, interactive, ondemand, powersave, userspace, lagfree, badass

I am actually surprised that stock kernel with Tegrak is giving higher numbers than our current overclockable kernels. It was never that way on the OG Epic unless you really got brave. 1.4 was safe Max on OG Epic and people got brave and got it to 1.6 with Tegrak and insane voltages...but not daily use stable. Just to run some benchmarks ans snap some screenies. Then there was Marcusant's UberQuadrant terminal command that gave 9000+ quadrants. Its easily tricked but a good tool to gauge differences in your personal setup

I think it has to do with the source kernel not being 100% compared to the actual kernel that comes on the phone. Was going back and forth with sammy about this and with some recent info from mkasick I'm hoping the next response I get is something along the lines of "Oooh **** our bad here is the correct defconfig"
hey I can dream can't I?
My Score
this is my best score that i have achieved so far. 5223
Here is a good one. My best so far was 5689, but this one is nice. My rom is a mutt between calks and phantoms, kernel is LoSt with my own init.d scripts.

Lowest you can go is 1000 mhz on the cpu, other wise it will crash. That is a limitation of ICS and our phone.

I am running milestone 6 and using chris41g's twrp rc1-b3 and everything seems to be working although I haven't tested 4g. Currently trying pegasusq gov and sio scheduler. Can't comment about battery life yet but I've read people have been getting good results with the combo.

Just like the title stated, what kernel is compatible with AOKP JellyBean "Nightly" that will let me overclock my processor?
Ktoonez kernel is great. Has knots of schedulers and overclock up to 2.1ghz..my s3 has had no problem staying at those speeds for some time. Lean kernel is also good but I got random reboots with it. That one has very few schedulers and can oveclock up to 1.9 GHz. There are 2 more kernels for AOSP android. Check them out

Thanks for the link, however when I flashed it I cant seem to be able to able to overclock my processor, it is stuck at 1512mhz.
Also, I did download the Jelly Bean version of the kernel, the on and after 10/14 since my Rom was released on 10/21.

Trying to flash a Mason G v.15rc4 (onto/into?) The Emilio Unchained V 2.0 and just gets stuck in the splash screen (not boot animation) (no bootloops). This happens on a lot of ROMS, but how come?

The kernel may not compatible with the roms you are flashing

It appears as though the ROM you're using utilizes the Mason kernel, just a slightly different one than what you're using. Probably not worth the change, really.
The advice is free....the bandwidth, not so much

Same here. I'm not sure what that ROM is, (GB, ICS, JB) But you get that the Mason Kernels, G = Gingerbread, I = ICS and neither work with JB

It's a tweaked, but basically vanilla rom. I use it to add all kinds of stuff to it like the newest Bravia engine 2 that dieselford put up on Kendall's jellybread thread. Also throw a bunch of build.prop tweaks in as well. The only thing missing now is my little wheatley

So far I think staying stock is just as good as running a developed kernel for this particular ROM imho, especially when you want to get the most battery. I use SetCPu and will run min 486 and Max 1350/1404. SmartassV2 and Zen or cfq governors. I don't play many games on my phone, I have tablets for that and they are tweaked as high as I can go and be stable. It's all about what you use your phone for, most times when I benchmark it seems the higher frequency I push my score actually will get worse, might be I'm need to up my voltage, but I don't mess with voltages much. I will follow the developers guidelines for undervolting if I'm trying to squeeze that extra life, but I don't worry about it that much. Best way for me to extend my battery life is start turning things off when they're not needed. All the things I try with my devices I have learned by reading on the XDA forums, and by far the developers for our GS3's are the best and I'm very thankful for all they give up to give us these awesome roms, kernels, and not forgetting about the theme developers to make or phones run fast, operate smoothly, and look great. Without them might as well buy a fruit product, just kidding I would get a flip phone before I would do that. .... This was meant to be a quick reply, just got off a 14 hr work day and I'm just rambling a little, I hope my reply makes sense.
