Also, just because it is still relevant:

Giz: The version of Jelly Bean that we have right now is a developer preview, right?
MD: Yes, it's a developer preview so it still has a few bugs that we know about, and obviously a few that we don't know about, but when the devices actually begin shipping in a few weeks you'll see a lot of additional polish go in.

No real point in posting bugs/problems with a preview release of software NEVER intended for the end user. We do not have the finalized release of Jelly Bean, we have a developer preview. There is a large difference. As far as this specific issue is concerned, there are already multiple threads for this and your title isn't exactly on topic.

I was aware of this before instaling that rom.
I have checked those thread before posting. The problem i see is that all those solution look like if they all need CWM working witch is not right now all the option are not working since im not root. maybe something im missing.
when i read: Flash the SuperSU root fix from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1737849
I dont have the option on the recovery mode to do so
I understand your frustation over multiple thread talking about this but Developer preview or not im experiencing a problem ( or i dont know to do it) witch alot of person do not have. Im only looking forward for solution, tutorial or thread that i may have missed.

[ROM]ROOTSide (In the Works. First Upload this week)

ROOTSide ROM
Base Flipside ROM with root/busybox/unknown sources enabled. Only thing different in this rom than rooting it yourself is you get to check/uncheck unknown sources. Yes, that means you can turn unknown sources ON and OFF! I have a clockworkmod recovery folder zipped up for distribution, but I want to post a full-fledged ROM zip file for the masses. PM me, and I will send you the ZIP file that I have right now.
What you get:
base install for the flipside (AT&T) with motoblur ready to set up. It is the exact same thing as doing a factory reset, but you get all the benefits of superuser with busybox and the addead feature of having unknown sources checkbox in the settings.
I will work towards a deoxed version this weekend as well.
No custom bootscreen (yet). No custom anything, really.
Almost There
I am currently in the middle of Deodexing the image. I have added in wifi tethering, and ensured it will have superuser and busybox pre-packaged. Next step is pushing this to my wife's phone and not having her get a pretty brick in return. If all goes well, I will be posting the image by morning light (CST).
Fingers Crossed!
Well
Things didn't go too well with my first build attempt. Appears to be a permission issue with the /system folder. I will sleep on it, and give it a second go in the morning. Sorry for the apparent "tease". If you want a faster build, I could use some other devs working with me.
Hey man, sounds like you're doing great! Keep it up...I already found a way to get the root with unknown sources checked, so i'm just gonna wait for the deoxed version! Hope it goes well as you try again.
Current Issues
unable to deodex the following:
/system/app/AABSync.odex
/system/app/blur-services.odex
Will try to load to phone without dodexing those two files. Hopefully all will go well.
Me too...good luck!!

Both of those files are att/moto bloat... just be rid of them
Sent from my MB508 using XDA App
Glad to see some work on this device, I love the form factor but it's obviously not very popular with devs...
Very interested to see this come around. I would like to streamline the wife's phone. Her battery life is a 1/3 of my rooted and flashed X10. Sadly though I am NOT a Dev nor even a cook.
I would have had something sooner, but I ran into issues not related to the ROM. Still working on it. Anybody have an idea for upgrading the CWM from the one we can currently use?
so I was curious, I was able to get to unlock mode with an sqlite thing and it worked just fine for me, but have you been able to knock out the bloat and stuff? cause it sounds like the makings of a custom rom lol
you know what the turtle said.. slowly but surely I will win this race

Several ppl have said they have run into this problem...don't know what the deal is...
Is it possible to get CM7, or it's a problem with a locked kernel?
Ok, I just got a new phone for the Mrs., so I can break the flipside and unbreak it as much as I like.
Time for some real fearless development lol.

sounds good man, keep us posted on progress!!
So check this out...I messaged the guy at modmymobile and asked how things were going becuase I heard people were having problems getting an updated CMW and this is his response:
"been sittin on the updated cwm recovery binaries and been draggin my feet/takin a break the past week or 2. i'll throw something out soon, but cant commit to a timeframe, sorry."
Looks like things are on the up and up...stay patient everyone
GOOD JOB!!!,
We are waiting for the rom

Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 root+Rom issue

Okeydokey. I installed a custom ROM ( VillainRom3.0 ) last night, and it has messed up a few things :/. Most apps randomly blank out and crash instantly - wifi doesn't work, phone freezes.
I'm rather new, and most of this stuff does confuse me; anyone able to post simple step by step of how to get a suitable kernal for VillainRom3.0 ?
EDIT: It also removed CWM and Superuser from the App menu :/

I was running villain rom with the standard chainfire kernel that most start with and that was stable - I must say though I wasn't too impressed with it - recently installed Westcrip's Resurrection ICS remix and boy am I happy I did! - if you want villain though just search for a compatible rom using the last letters from your baseband version - that normally does the trick! Good luck
I've found an old backup laying around, and got to installing that, so VillainRom is no longer on their. I'm back to a rooted firmware and that's it.
BUT: Now my computer ( nor any other ) recognises when It's pluggedin via USB :/.
I have this issue flashing some newer roms lately, not sure what it is.
To get back to a stock rom/rooted rom use the methods listed under the dev section of your phone that are the initial root direction using odin or something similar.

[Q] App issue after Manual JB OTA update

Hey guys,
I am newer user, I have a completely stock phone. I was running ICS but once I heard the JB update was rolling out I couldnt wait so I decided to manually update it via the link in the other form. Everything works completely fine. Except for the fact that If I use the app "Draw Something" it blacks out and I can not do anything. Needless to stay I uninstalled cleared cache anything I could to try to get it to work (as I play with the gf ... family etc..) I am still out of luck.
Is there a way I can get it working (which is what I would want) or a way to downgrade (and then maybe wait for my phone to get the official OTA? or do I basically have to root and use a rom now. I would like to stay stock if possible.. I like stock and have no issues with it.
I am also trying to not lose any phone data when making changes if possible -.-"
Is there anything I can do?!
Thanks!!
I do not think it is just you. There reports all over this thread that Draw Something does not work with this Jellybean.
Yeah, My brother wound up getting the update last night (the official one pushed to his phone, not forced) He has the same issue. I guess the best thing to do is wait for a patch..
However your link is broken to me =/ I could not find the thread you were talking about.
Sorry. I tried to paste a link to the search results of a thread but I guess that does not work.
Go to this thread and then use the "Search this thread" search box to look for Draw Something.
I think you just have to wait for an update from the app developer.

SGH I777 Stuck on Boot up Screen

Hello XDA people I have a real problem
I tried to install Jelly Bam 5.1 in my phone , when i intalled it didnt work well so i go back to my old version of jelly bam 4.1, i intalled it with CWM i press reboot and it stuck on boot up screen. I have waited 30 minits and i kick out the battery and put again, but nothing , it was the same. Finally I tried to flash stock rom 4.03 with odin , the same but worst couse i cant enter in recovery mode now, only in download mode. i dont know what to do, I want a reply
1. There is no such thing as Jelly Bean 5.1
2. This is NOT the place to ask for tech support. Search for your device's section and post there.

[Q] GT18160 Jelly Bean 4.1.2

I would appreciate some guidance as to what rom to install.
This UK version of the phone had become increasingly slow. I have just rooted it but do not know what to do next.
I had intended to install a custom rom and see it rejuvinated, especially for things like Sat Nav. I also want to get rid of some of the Samsung software that is taking up memory space and slowing the phone down. She I try to update the software to KitKat before installing a custom rom?

You could try this ROM, works great for me:
http://xda.mister-freeze.eu/XDA-files/ace2nutzer/CM11/codina/
Instructions that could help could be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159250
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56321125&postcount=3
Alternatively, install custom kernels to improve experience:

I find the 101 pages to the help topic overwhelming, especially as it is solidly highly technical. Do you happen to know of a step by step set of instructions that I can follow with ease.
Sorry but some basic points I need clarifying:
You referred me to a rom that works great for you and yet suggest that a custom kernel will improve performance. How do I decide which one to go for? At heart I do not understand the difference between the two.
I had a look at the codina link and notice I need to know what file system is being run on my Ace 2. I tried gparted on my desktop and it did not pickup the android phone as a drive. How do I work out what drive format is being used?

Some searching in those threads couldn't hurt you. It's just one search box away.

- From recovery install temp. cwm.6028 (http://d-h.st/oZD)
- wipe data
- mounts and storages
- format system
- then CM 11 from 18/11 ext4 (link before)
- power off
- boot in cwm
- flash pico uni-gapps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942)
- flash latest ext4 kernel (optional)
- reboot system

I use both. So, in my case, I install the ROM first, and then I install the kernel (instructions above). Note that the kernel part is optional, but should give you better experience.

You could check this by using adb. But if you never did anything before, than it is most likely to be ext4 (default for our Ace2).
Thank you for your help. I have just gone to get the temp. cwm.6028 (http://d-h.st/oZD) and it keeps failing to download. Is the link working? Do you have another one?
I notice that there are two download buttons. The plain download button causes a warning that I am going to a web forgery. The download now button fails to download for me.

For some reason (newest) FireFox downloads it but deletes it right away... This file is save! Use another browser (Chrome for instance) to download... De-activate Download Manager and use Download Now button... Not the other one...
I downloaded it using Flareget and sent it to my desktop and that worked as a download. The downloaded file is called update.zip. Your reply in the last message suggested to me that it should be called "temp. cwm.6028" (http://d-h.st/oZD). I ask in case someone has substituted another file!

Dude.. you are really complicated! This update.zip is the Temp. CWM Recovery...
For sure the are some update.zip around the net which containing other stuff - But this (http://d-h.st/oZD) is the Temp. CWM Recovery.
And it's a save file (as I alrady wrote) - I looks right now that FF and Chrome dont want to download it...
I think some dump users reported this file to often! Only because they don't konw how to download corretly from Dev Host...
I hope this is clear now....
