thats an HD2 not an TP2, HD2 is the only device from HTC which will be official compatible with WM 7.
because WM7 needs a capacitive tochscreen it will not work on TP2.

hi realy dont think so since wm7 needs a captive screen and needs all the hardware like hd2 manely or tp2 cant handle this
Time to upgrade my TP2 as soon as Win Mo 7 is out.

Haha, I hope they will release TP3 in time with WP7 I'm also curious about the dual core snapdragon processors which are announced with the end of this year
Regards
When I had the T-Mobile Wing they said we could not get WM6.5 and now thanks to XDA we have it. Now I have the TP2 and even though the screen doesn't support some of the command I would not be surprized if there was success in getting WM7 onto this phone (limited in functionality and may be very slow). At any rate I will be getting the HD2 on March 24 when it comes out to T-Mobile.

IMHO, the GUI is not that complex that you really need complex hardware. If MS really wanted, i believe it could run on a TP2 too (even with multitouch). 529Mhz is not that slow. And your TP2 has OPENGL 1.1? hardware which is not really used very well.
But like MS said, they put a lot of work to let the hardware and software work really together. Which in other words they say you need to buy new hardware (faster CPU, OPENGL 2.0; base ram 512MB)
Even now it could technically run on HD2, the HD2 device is not officially compliant with the 3 hardware buttons a Win7 mobile device needs (back, start , search). I wonder how to map the search button.
Let's only hope!
I am sure that if someone can get the current ROMs for the HD2, which are technically designed for a capacitive screen, to work on the TP2, I would bet money that someone will be able to port it over and make it work. We won't really know until stuff starts getting leaked. That would be great though. I would really like to give WP7 a test run before dumping $500 on a new phone!!
TP2 will be able to run WP7 (maybe there might be problems with OpenGL ES 2.0 missing). The right question is - will MS make BSP for it? I highly doubt it.

Yep me too. Although i'm gonna ditch my TP 2 as soon as I get confirmation of WM7 running on the hd2.
I saw somewhere that Windows Phone 7 will require a 1ghz processor. The HD2 has that and the Touch Pro 2 doesn't.
If someone does get Windows Phone 7 ported over, it's likely going to run a little slowly.
don't forget mandatory 4 point multitouch... that might be a problem for full functionality.
I seem to remember the guy who introduced WM7 (WPS7) saying something about the 7 series being slated for all manner of new phones including those with and without keyboards (I think he made reference to phones similar to BBs with keyboards on the face of the phones)...So unless the price of processors comes down significantly I really don't think every new phone running this 7 series OS will meet such demanding base requirements (1GHz processor, capacitive multitouch screens etc., etc.).
YES!

Touch Pro Series The Best Option HTC have!
according to several websites like: http://www.redmondpie.com/htc-hd2-to-get-windows-mobile-7-upgrade-9140128/ the HD2 will get windows mobile 7. but TP2 will most likely be up to the devs here at the XDA if they can do it. My feelings are that if they can get android going on TP2 (so far so good) then they can do windows mobile 7.
In my opinion, our devices are transition devices, most of us are waiting/hoping for a TP3 better than HD2, or at least with similar specifications as the HD2.
TP2 runs WP7, but it reminds me of my old Artemis with WM65 and TF2D, .
We´ll see it coming soon.
Cheers.
i have a blue angel runnign wm 6.5 so anything is possible especially if there is enough interest.
I understand why the move makes sense for MS but personally from what I've seen of WM7 I'm in no hurry for it to get here. Now if i could get my TP2 with a 1ghz cpu i might look at it but until the smart guys here at XDA figure out how to get past WM7's limitations i'm not in any rush to give up what I have.
It might be able to run it, but Microsoft and HTC aren't going to release anything needed to make an unofficial port happen. Sorry, but it's extremely likely that the TP2 is not going to get WM7, officially or otherwise.
And to everyone who always cites the example of Windows Mobile 6.5 running on an old device, I hate to break it to you but it's not that easy when dealing with WM7. Windows Mobile 7 is based off the Windows CE 6.0 kernel, while Windows Mobile 5 and 6.x are powered by the same CE 5.2 kernel, making a port of WM 6.x to a WM5 device pretty easy. It's much more difficult when you have a different kernel with from an OS that doesn't support most of your hardware, as it means someone has to create a BSP themselves.
No multi-tasking = No dice for me! It'd be like a downgrade! Loving my TP2 with Deep Shining Rom. I use my phone for a whole manner of things, usually business orientated. If I wanted the type of phone the Windows mobile 7 looks like it's gonna introduce, I would've bought an IPhone!
I have followed XDA for quite some time and have been waiting for someone to get a little bored with android like myself and start the modding of the new WinMo 7 phones to run both Android and WinMo 7. I can't find anything on it. Is it just not possible (yet)??? I know the devices can handle it...1ghz, 16gb internal, plenty of memory...Vibrant, etc. Seems like the perfect device for a dual boot Eclair/Froyo and WinMo 7. Windows Mobile 6x running Android is old and the 1st one I did was the Tytn II by HTC. Slow, but it was still nice to have both.
Any Devs out there wanna push this? I'll buy hardware and do any tests wanted. Seems Samsung specs are pretty equal between the Vibrant and Focus or even like the port of Android to the HD2...can it be done using the HD7 from T-Mo?
In the case of Samsung, why wouldn't you just get the Captivate (Galaxy S)? Already has Android. The Focus is basically the same phone...

why start from ZERO when HD2 is already running Android pretty smoothly and will be getting wp7 soon? Not to bash or anything but wp7 may not be as easy to tinker with as compared to wm6.

I have my Omnia 7 since 2 months and I wonder why there are not a custom Firmware or a Android port or something else like this.
I thought the Device is very Similar to the HTC HD7 (except the integrated Memory) . And so why are there so less experience and interesting in the portation and jailbreaking of this WP7 devices.
On the HTC Devices the HSPL is hacked and you can have an jailbreaked firmware on it but on Optimus and the Omnia aren´t any interesting tools or OS to try.

Please make an Custom Rom , an Android port or a jailbreak for Mango.

someone is going to "android sucks" or "omg noooo android laaagsss!" Or otherwise try to shout down your question... but the video clearly shows it works well. I would imagine the developers see very little benefit in working hard to get android rom on any wp7 device for two reasons, related to each other:
1 there are not many wp7 devices or users to install it
2 there are TONS of android devices already to play on
If the device in the video is a clone of the hd7 or not doesn't really matter to me. Phones have such similar hardware now its hard to not call any of them a clone or knockoff.
I don´t think that the devices are not popular enough for a portation, even the unknown Vodafone 360 (Samsung H1 and M1) has there own Android ports samsungi8320.freeforums.org/h1droid-f2.html .
And i think thats not so hard to port the Android Version from the Galaxy S or the Desire to the Omnia 7 , Optimus 7 or other 7 series based Devices from similar Android devices. The only problem (i read it on a website) is the bootloader but the HSPL was hacked by the HTC devices.
So my question:
Why there no Android Roms for Windows Phones (even the iPhone has Android roms I don´t think that the devices are not popular enough for a portation, even the unknown Vodafone 360 (Samsung H1 and M1) has there own Android ports samsungi8320.freeforums.org/h1droid-f2.html .

So my question:
Why there no Android Roms for Windows Phones (even the iPhone has Android roms youtube.com/watch?v=zEQ5E_IaKTo&feature=related ) the Bootloader was hacked by DFT (this Team make the CF foor HTC 7 devices and the WP7 for the famous HD2).
And why there no custom Roms for non HTC devices like LG or Samsung, I thought there many other talented developers for it?
Edit:
I found the HD7 with Android on ebay: ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170569978287&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com.au%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D170569978287%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%
Er, just buy the android equivalent of the Omnia rather than wait for a port that will be buggy and take time to refine?
But the Galaxy S has only plastic.
The Omnia has better processing (I hope you understand me).
And I don´t want Android now for my Omnia, I want rather a custom rom.
But at the moment there no alternative
to the standard (restricted) Windows Phone7.
I know there is a option to keep the jailbreak under Mango with unlock.xml ,but after Hardreset, I must flash 7004 back and then I must flash ,7008 , 7329, 7400 and the Final Mango.
This takes over 2 hours.
I wish there is a custom rom like this from the HTC Devices.
The suggestions are apt
buy an android device if you want an android. Assuming we can run native, and we can run haret, it will still take time to port.
Just buy the device of your choice. There's plenty out with many different price points
Hello xda fellows,i wanna buy a wp7 phone but i will like to feel the user experience for some weeks b4 buying it so i would u guys if u know of a custom rom of the real wp7 phone.I've tried laucher 7 and wp7 rom on the desire forum, but they aren't the real thing with live tiles. So if u know of a rom that has cool feature of wp7 phone reply me
try metro ui from the market, or better yet, ask the guys over at wp7 section. they will give you a better indication.
WP7 looks really good. Im just using the WP7 rom thing.

...or install Launcher7 - it's free and has many features of the original wp7 launcher... Ppl say it's fast although)
And the question of "wp7 on Bravo" is mostly the question of "making proper bootloader for wp7 on Bravo" - those guys with HD2 (which has almost equal HW) already resolved that for their phone...
I've got a Mozart, it was a replacement sent to me from HTC direct, in virtually as new condition. It has no SIM lock and I have loaded different ROMs onto it, running the very latest Mango (with Tango features apparently and code from the HTC Titan too).
Runs great, you can buy it off me if you like- I've decided to stick with Android for now, needed a bigger phone for my fat fingers and the bigger WP7 phones aren't as good as the Mozart as far as Radio performance etc goes.
Tried the Titan and others and I still think the Mozart is the best, easy to put an SD card into (takes 10 mins, takes up 32gb) very high quality sound card/DAC, great camera (especially after firmware updates) particularly because the Xenon flash is better I think- better white balance etc, they don't put them in phones anymore because they are too expensive, the Nokia N8 had one for instance but N9 doesn't.
Was wondering, are people interested in a Mango port for the Defy/Defy+ phones?...
Just curious how many people are interested. Might try to learn all these porting stuff, just for the sake of having a different OS on my phone.
huh ? ? mango instead of icecream?
Not go too much into detail but as long as the bootloader for Defy is locked it's impossible to port another OS to Defy.
Yes. Mango instead of Ice Cream. It might sound nuts, but Mango is quite a stable OS plus its performance is better (heard some guys from the HD2 forum that, for example, HD2 with Mango has a better battery than HD2 with ICS.)
Also, it's a stable OS, you get only what apps you really need. It's not an OS for gaming, for example.
Just saying.
it's also propriety and closed.source, your chances of porting are 0.

????? Hd2 was a windows phone that android was ported to, not the other way around.
It had a qualcomm chipset, there will be no windows driver for our defys, no source code to write drivers for.
I still say chances are 0

Idea
I was reading about FUSE on linux, maybe is possible to create something like a VM, and then use WP 7.5 running on android... i'm just guessing, cause FUSE runs on linux, i think because the kernel MUST work on android, is possible to do something like that???
Emulating an os on such limited resources is a crazy idea, but may be doable, if our kernel supports it (unlikely) as we are still stuck with motos kernel.

HD2 is a Windows Mobile 6.5 phone. NOT upgradeable to Window Phone 7, which is a completly different OS
As far as I know all Android versions has been ported to the HD2, all Windows Phone 7 versions too. It is possible to run Linux (with GUI), MeeGoo and Windows 95.
So yeah, if Motorola ever unlocks the freaking Bootloader it might be possible to get a WP7 Port to our Defys.
Plzzz someone with adequate knowledge try this porting stufff out plzzzz.....

Isn't about knowledge. isn't possible because we can't change the android kernel because the locked bootloader, and WP doesn't run on a linux kernel, and on the other hand i agree with mpiekp, emulating isn't a good choice...

Yeah, wp7 is spoofed by pretending the hd2 is a hd7, only works for almost identical hardware, not for a different chipset. Find a wp7 rom from identical hardware then you stand a chance, once your passed the bootloader issue.
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
The HD7 was essentially an HD2 with another badge.
You stand zero chance of doing this, even with an unlocked bootloader... I'm not aware of any OMAP based devices on WP7, I may be wrong there, but it's still pretty much impossible, given the fact you just have device specific binaries for WP7...
dude, this only make sense if mirosoft share their code
wp7 worked on hd2 because, a test rom was leaked where htc was working on wp7 using hd2 for their internal testing, hence got working drivers.
So basically we need a phone with similar specs as our phone so then we can see if the drivers work here. (Most wp7 phones use qualcomm chips so bad news there)
Even then i guess it would be hard task if not impossible to load windows on a locked bootloader which can only load a linux kernel
Even if we had an unlocked bootloader and drivers for WP7, there still would be an other issue: screen resolution. All WP7 devices have a 480x800 screen, and the Defy(+) has a 480x854 one, so the UI is incompatible.
