There's a fix for the WiFi in Verizon Dev section.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Huh...my port has no wifi issues at all on Verizon.
no wifi issues on bigxie's rom
I have the gsm version.. so it may be my router

I had issues connecting with DHCP. Create a static IP and it connects fine.
WiFi seems rather weak on mine but that is all, connects fine at home and at work.
No issues for me at all and i won't be surprised if Google will select this build as a final JB release.
WiFi is broken on some flashes and zips, especially the OTA zip. Koush's ZIP is good though, I had WiFi problems with the OTA.

Yeah Wifi problems when screen is off. No notifications nada. When screen turns on all is back to normal.

I flashed to CM9 3-15 build this morning and after doing so, I no longer have wifi. I've flashed multiple ROMS, Modems and Kernels now with no success.
Here's my logcat from a completely stock EL29 phone.

OPs issue is it won't even connect to the router to even get a low signal.
these wifi issues are certainly interesting.
I know there are reasons for not having it in our phone with ICS but many T-mobile users use this product frequently. I noticed that my lg g2x has ics roms available that have wifi calling. And was wondering how this is possible considering there are no tmo phones with ics and wifi calling. And if the g2x has it on ics then we shouldn't be far from getting it in ICS for our galaxy s2. It is integrated in our galaxy s2 and the g2x still uses the app. So the app has been made to work in Ics. I personally don't care if it is the app or integrated.
This is just my observation. Didn't know if anyone else noticed other Tmobile phones with ics and wifi calling.

Unfortunately, TMo bakes wifi calling into the ROM. Therefore, until TMo releases ICS, there is a 99.99% probability that there will be no ICS roms with wifi.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
But I just started that lg g2x has ics with wifi calling. but it uses the app instead of integrated. that's it. So there its a Tmobile phone with ics and wifi calling. But it is in the g2x
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Also the hd2 has wifi calling. Not even a Android phone. The app would be the easiest to adapt.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Correction: TMo baked wifi calling into the 989 rom with 2.3.6.
So again, there will be no wifi calling on ICS roms for this phone (Hercules) until TMo releases ICS for this phone.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
So they only reason is because it was baked in instead if an app?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Yes, with the new phones T-Mo has started to use IMS based wifi calling. It is integrated into the OS, instead of an external app like they used on other phones in the past.
The app based wifi calling still works. So would it be possible to adapt the app to work on our phone? Considering they have got the wifi app working on so many other devices that never had wifi calling.

Bump for interest

Exactly I think its a legitimate start. G2x has wifi calling and ics. But the s2 had only had integrated wifi calling. So adapting the app to work with or phone us what its needed. It is already ics compatible

Yeah, I'd really love to get it working. The best I've gotten it is it'll let you make / accept calls ~50% of the time with a good chance of going into a bad state and yet unmeasured general radio performance problems.
A lot of the patches out there just don't work -- they don't have enough in the build.props modifications. The most successful attempts I've seen modify the build.props to spoof the build ID and stuff.
Also most of the patches I've seen are missing GanOptimizer.apk which is used for Wifi Calling app.

Sorry, but that is not correct. I have a G2X and my wi-fi calling works with Hellfire Sandwich, Eaglesblood, and CM9.
Why is everone so obsessed with wifi calling? I use groove ip and google voice, allowing to make all of the free calls I want.

Groove IP doesn't have the quality. Can't send or receive text or mms using your tmobilenumber.
Yes it works... but its annoying having to use two numbers.

I have my google voice number for life and the quality on my groove ip over wifi is superior to cellular. I had to tweak the groove settings to get a decent call quality though. I dont use my tmobile number. Complete throw away number that I usually change anyway. To each their own I guess.
I use Google Voice number for texts as well.
Edit: You can port your tmobile number to google anyway

See all that that you just explained is why people don't "just" use google Voice and or GROOVE IP, its just not needed nor is it worth the headache till this day I have still yet to figure out how to send my txt through Google Voice

You can't send the from your cell number through gv. You can send them from your Google voice number using the Google voice app... but again... its annoying using three services and different apps and two phone numbers. That's why wifi calling is nice.

A few weeks ago I started to have this problem; i'm ussually connected to the HDSPA network, but the phone turns data off all the time and the only way to get the signal back is rebooting (even turning on and off plane mode doesn't solve it). Calls work perfectly.
I'm on stock 4.0.4, no modified kernels or roms. My carrier is Simyo, Spain.

That´s not my problem; the phone functions work great all the time, but data connection goes off. It happened when I was on 4.0.2 and now on 4.0.4 the issue is still there.
I too am having this same issue with a GSM Galaxy Nexus on stock yakju 4.0.4, but I'm in Canada on the Bell network, and did change the radio to the one they install on their phones.
I've been having this same problem just in the last day or two, ever since I enabled NFC. 4.04, stock kernel, calls go through as normal but no network data. When I disable NFC, everything is back to normal. Anyone else notice conflict with NFC enabled?

I believe this is with the 4.0.4 IMM76D build, it's fixed on 4.0.4 IMM76I.
Again, what the OP has reported, and I am experiencing the same, is that network connectivity does not drop, rather that at least in some scenarios (as is my experience with NFC enabled) network data drops. Really curious if anyone else out there has seen the same on the most recent build and in particular if anyone else has seen a conflict with NFC enabled.
Try matching your radio interface layer with the radio version. This app will help

My baseband and RIL match. Now i'm using franco m4 but the problem persists.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
RIL and baseband matching here too. Thx for suggestion though. Handy little app too.
Unrelated, perhaps.
Sorry, but this might not be related: I have an issue with the phone going into 2G when I'm at work -- 23rd floor office. I must manually change it to 2G/Edge every time. All the other folks around me seem to continue without issue and are able to make calls although their signal isn't too hot. GetRIL says baseband and RIL match. I'm using XXLA2 on AT&T in NYC.
Tried searching around for a solution, but I'm not finding anything.
I had the data drop issue as well, not sure if this is related, but around the same time I matched up my RIL, I also switched from francokernel to glados. I have been using glados 1.34 & have not had the issue since.

I've noticed that data connection seems to drop when I switch apps. Does this happen to anybody else? Whenever I switch from one app to another, say from Chrome to Twitter, data connection is lost and then reconnects in about 5 to 10 seconds. There's been occasions when I've lost network signal completely and the only fix, other than to reboot, seems to be to turn airplane mode on and to turn it off again.
I have a GSM Gnex. Is this a hardware problem or will it be fixed with 4.0.5?
Hi guys.
I don't know if its my phone or if this is the way the phone is meant to be, I have an extremely weak wifi signal. I am literally right next door to my router and I only get 3/4 bars for signal strength. As soon as I go up to the second floor, I get nothing at all unless I'm directly above my router. This is extremely frustrating at the moment. I decided to lurk around the forum to see if installing a custom rom would help and I ended up installing Jedi Invasion 2; it did not help at all.
It's just so frustrating that I have to use my mobile internet when I'm in bed instead of using my home internet. I don't understand this at all. Why is it so weak? Does anyone else have this problem?
Thank you.
Im with you on this......im staying tuned..

Have you tried updating your modem to the latest version that was just released?
My modem is perfectly fine. I just dont understand how my old crappy blackberry had a better and stronger connection than my s3.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I found the Wi-Fi performance increased a fair bit when I upgraded to 4.1.1. I can go a fair ways in my house before dropping bars. Wish I had run WiFi Analyzer before the upgrade so that I could actually compare RSSI.
Depends on the router freq. 2.4ghz and 5ghz. 5ghz can cause crappy WiFi strength issues. Change the settings around to 2.4 only and see what happens.

My router does not support dual band. Like I said earlier, my blackberry has a stable connection while my s3 struggles.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I had the same problem in 4.0.4 ICS but now on 4.1 JB it is working perfect. Before on ICS I had like 3-4 bars when I was 2ft away from the router. Now on JB I have full 5 stable bars no less with higher distance.

The modem he is talking about is a radio for the phone. Not the modem that connects you to the internet through your ISP.

Well first thing your going to have to do is root the phone before you can update your modem.
