Custom stock messaging app - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've always wondered if there is a custom messaging app that is mostly stock except that you could have a "privacy mode" like on handcent where your message couldn't be read/seen from the status/notification bar. Also the setting to have the app locked with a password the same way as handcent or any other 3rd party messaging app. I ask this because I prefer the stock look feel to the stock app. I would rather not have to use any 3rd party app. If anyone knows of anything like this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

So I'm guessing there isn't any app like this?

Question for ROM Devs

I hate the stock messaging app. I don't really like Handcent, except that it has the "Iphone" look and makes text conversations go side to side. Is it difficult to drop another messaging app in as the stock messaging app? I would love to see more ROMs(mostly Ava because that is what I generally run) use another messaging app. Thanks for your time.

No its not hard. Thats why the rom devs don't do it. It lets everyone go choose what app they would like. Also some of the sms apps require the original messaging to still be installed... which makes it harder.
I would try go sms. LOTS of themes, and options.

I did not know that some messaging apps require the stock messaging app. I would think that when you have to programs doing the same thing, the phone is not being as efficient as possible. How can someone replace the stock messaging app with a new one? I don't want to use an app in conjunction with another app and disable the original, I want to get rid of the original.
Two ways....
Either break open the rom and delete out the apps you don't want before flashing. Or, install app you want then go in and delete (not disable) the original app using appropriate file manager program.

touchwiz 4 modifications

hello everyone
i am still in decision on what to use as my launcher
i like tw4 but i use handcent and not the stock messaging app.
ive replaced the stock messaging app in the dock and i have also switched all the notifications off for the messaging app but i still get the notification on the icon in the applications list saying i have 1 unread message. the only way i can get that off is by clicking on the stock messaging app and viewing the message... this is really annoying as i would have to check it twice.
is there a fix for this?
i would also like to know which launcher is lighter and takes less ram.
all help is much appreciated
kind regards

[q] customize look of message app?

I just got my e4gt and I thought I saw some phone with it in the messaging app have a custom skin/look. Like a theme for the texting app? I dont see anything like that at all. just curious as if its possible and how?
I use GO SMS PRO currently, and have used HANDCENT in the past. Both have customizable setting that allow you to change just about any part of the app to look exactly how you want it.
Hope that helps.
I use handcent its awesome

Stock messaging app and group message?

Hey guys I have a question
Is there any way to add group messaging to stock app or do I have to use third party apps like go sms pro?
I wouldn't mind doing that if it wasn't for the fact that go sms pro doesn't show you notification on a lock screen like the stock app does.

[Q] Batch mode for default messaging app

Is there any way to add a batch mode for the default JB Messaging app so I can work with several messages at once? or has anybody done this for our XPERIAs?
AVOID suggesting me 3rd party apps from playstore, no one is close to the perfection of default messaging app, and also I want my phone as googleish as possible, so I don't actually change any default app like that. Any "answer" like this will be ignored.
Cmon, anyone has to know the answer for this!
well.. no one.. *feels alone* where are the devs when you need them.
