[Q] Need help with choosing the right radio for location - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

i am currently in upstate New York and i have no reception and was wondering if there is a particular radio that would be ideal for me to use while i am out here i am running Darkside Venom v7 any assistance would greatly be appreciated

You are just gonna have to try different radios to see what works. No one can say that there is a good radio for you. Only you

Which radio for AOKP Milestone 6?

Hey everyone so I'm using the AOKP Milestone 6 ROM and upon doing the speed test, I'm getting ~ 600 kbps. I was wondering which radio is recommended by the majority of people here for this particular ROM? Thanks!
Test them all out, it depends on your location so nobody can tell you which ones best

Gotcha. Is there a link to all the radios currently available? Sorry I'm just new to this forum and modding my phone with custom ROMs so forgive me.
Well here's one and this is the blaze radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793001
Just flash in recovery
http://sourceforge.net/projects/darksidetools/files/ Here are two more radios, the only one you can download are the LC8 one and the LE1. Make sure it says Tmo and don't flash other ones.

Apparently the Blaze radio is a bit iffy for those who have AOKP m6. In my own case, I flashed it and I got great signal at my work, it's just that the data wasn't working at all so I quickly switched back to the original (UVLE1 / The modded one with no RIL's). If you're interested, you can find the modded UVLE1 in Darkside's ' .evolution [rom] ' thread in the 'Android Development' forum.
I've had the best luck with the Tellus radio.

[MODEM] East Coast users, please read!

I looked around, but couldn't find a general thread. The newest modem that came on ICS 4.0.4 (I lose track of the names and numbers) does decent, yet poorly in some areas. I'd like to know, what modem works best for people in the following states ..
New York
Massachusetts
Connecticut
Rhode Island
Thank-you.
Newest modem is LH1 i live in the south east and it works great.

It has been covered exhaustively...modem quality is dependant on the device. You need to flash and see for yourself. No one can tell you how a modem will perform on your phone

Device specific? Meaning it's not regionally based?

No.. that's not right.. radio/modem quality is mostly based of location .. not the device. Now I'm sure a bit come down to the device especially if its running custom roms.. but for the most part its based on your region.
I live in Orlando FL and all the the modems are about the same for me.. I believe if your in a really strong service area like I am it won't matter the radio..

what i was saying is that two people may have the same modem on the same phone, and it may function completely different unless they are using the exact same rom, and connecting the the exact same towers

I like how someone actually hit thanks on your post... :banghead:
But that's not what you said... you said .. in a mostly rude way.. that it was dependent on the device and that's just not true.. while it weighs a little on the result a radio /modem performance is mostly bases on location .. but thank for clarifying that.

Yeah it's both, but usually for large cities, every radio will have similar speeds. I found that the difference is the ping/latency. My sister and i both have the same phone, and ROM, but ping differs based on radio. Example, mine is great with the note radio, while hers is better with uvle1. However, mine on uvle1 isn't that bad either. I think that's what doug was trying to say.
Anyways to op. Just try all the top radios people have reported. Remember to aim for latency over speed.

Thanks everyone! I will try them all.

Great post. I live in central New Jersey and i have the same doubt. I guess it all comes down to try them all... but so far I'm doing great with le1 so I guess I'll just leave it as it is...

Souf Cackalacky representin' and I am running T879UVLG3. Seems to work better than the others for me - in my location anyway...
Try both LE1 and LH1 :good:
Long island, NY lh1 def. Is better than lg3 in the battery department, although lg3 gives better speeds, I can live with the small difference.

[Q] which radio should be used

Hello everyone sorry for this dumb question but just curious. I'm on pa 2.22 10/15 build 2 and im using t989UVLE1, I'm not having any issues but noticed screen shots from some other people and they are all on uvlh1. does this really matter thanks in advance
You use whatever radio works good for you. Try a different one from the dev section if you'd like. You can always revert back

thanks man i think ill stick with what works my luck i'll screw something up
With a radio it'll be hard to jack up. Pick one from the dev section or wherever the thread is. They all have the rils removed anyway.

[Q] RADIO for T-Mobile

Can anyone tell which is the best radio for T-Mobile USA?
Try all 3 of the latest radios in this thread. Different people have different results, there is "no" best radios, only radios that are better or worse performing based on your location, carrier frequency and other factors.
I have tried the latest one n its only giving me edge

If it works for you, then keep with it. You're free to try any modem, but you aren't bound by the ROM version.

If you're getting good signal/data speeds, stick with what you have. It really matters on your location. For me, FF18 is the best but for others, FF27, FH13, etc...

Modems are area/device dependent.
Meaning, what might work well for me, might not work well for you.
You can try any modem with any build. Try the latest and see if your speeds improve or not. Might find that what you have is the best for you, might not.
(some say to update profile/prl after each time you change, i for one, don't see improvement doing that, but try it)
: edit: From fi03 forward, 4g speeds increase due to changes of Wimax settings. So if 4g is a player for you, keep that in mind
