What do think? Did Microsoft just give us glimpse into the next version of Windows Mobile? I'm pretty exited over this if you can't already tell.
WOW!
It's on the nike too!
Can't wait to see if they release it for the nike!

Ditto. And I hope it's a little more spiffed than what I've seen from the SDK emulator and the "leaked" pics of the supposed first phone.

I'm here because I believe in helping people get the most from their dash through greater information availability...that and I actually *like* some of the guys on this board.
That having been said, I'm not a fan of Microsoft who, unless there is significant competition from one or more outside sources, will *not* innovate since they know they have consumers by the balls.
I'm all for checking out Android since it's open-source. As it's about the only thing that promises major, widespread, worldwide consumer competition for Microsoft, it will hopefully light a fire under their respective asses to actually improve their stagnant PDA-phone operating system. The supposed WM7 pics and videos might be a start, but they're already way behind.
I've used smartphones since WM2002, and it really hasn't changed fundamentally since then. To use the current political language, Microsoft can only keep putting fresh lipstick on a pig for so long.

That's a dumb question...
I am here because I own a Dash and I LOVE it.
I am here because YOU asked for our opinions.
I am here because this is a GREAT group of people with a lot of knowledge and skill.
However this discussion is about WM7, which the Dash WILL NOT HAVE.
Those Youtube videos don't even show 2 seconds worth of video of the phone, what exactly are we supposed to see?
Thanks for asking, but next time if you want peoples opinions, don't always expect them to agree with yours....
Beartard, you are absolutely right, I have had a PPC since day one, and its pretty much the same today as back then..
Wow, tough crowd. I appreciate the video surfacing again, and it shows some things which we did not appreciate then:
1) Sliding panels is coming to WM Professional.
2) The live mesh integration client is pretty cool.
3) WM7 is going to look cool too.
For the people looking for change over the years, I have been using WM since 2000, and I have seen plenty of change.

Hi!
Is there any program similar to that on Iphone, where u use g-senzor for...?
you mean something like boobcursor?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBRoGnlcVGo
he was meaning this one i think
would really like the prgram as well... can't anybody port it from the iphone?
Well it never got released for iPhone as far as I know because Apple did not approve it.
We need to find the programmer and hope he wants to port it to Windows Mobile.
nice project. let us find the programmer =)

That's not true, at least according to this page... the original program "iboobs" was banned from the app store shortly after release, but there is still the application called "wobble" available, where the user can decide himself which parts of the picture should "wobble" (which is actually a nice feature... looking forward already to see my girlfriend shake her nice ass for me on my HD... uuups... started dreaming, sorry ;-) )

C'mon... don't let this great (idea of a) program die or disappear even before its actual existance... is there really nobody able/willing to program or port it for windows mobile!!???

Hi, this is more of a opinion question than a 'question' question. Hopefully the great devs in the forum see this and find a way to port it. Please vote in the poll and if you have an opinion to say please write them. Just respect other members. Your opinions such as "why would you want a port?" Aren't really Nessecary.
Thanks
Most of your options don't make "sense", so I can't vote!
Whilst it may be possible to port WP7 to the Desire hardware, your first two poll options are to port WP7 to Android which is nonsensical!
Personally, from what I've seen of WP7 so far, there is nothing that makes me want to move away from Android at present, but that doesn't preclude it happening in the future. However, if I did want to move to WP7, I'd almost certainly buy a phone dedicated to it rather than attempt to cobble together something on an Android phone.
Regards,
Dave

even if it was possible, which it's NOT, none of the developers here would do it as its ILLEGAL, we dont own a LICENCE for wp7, it would be no diffrent to distributing PIRATE copy's of windows 7....
indeed, most of us here bought an android device because we wanted to customise our phones or because we got tired and annoyed with other OSes(especially WM, urg...!{yeah, I know I have the HD2, it pisses me off...=.="'}), but if there are any developers porting WP7, I'd like to see it emulated only.
Oh, I didn't know it was illegal. Guess no one would port it then. But maybe a good emulator would be nice. I wish I had bought a HD2 now...
Given that Windows Phone 7 is not Windows Mobile, it would probably technically be illegal to run it on an HD2 too, though since you'd have effectively paid some kind of licence fee to MS, they would be more likely to turn a blind eye I guess!
It's by no means certain that it would be any easier though!
Regards,
Dave

that would be down to microsofts discretion, previously they havent made much of an issue out of us porting newer versions of windows mobile to, older windows mobile devices, and imo i dont think they would start now, ie porting wp7 to the HD2 ect.... but i cant see them sitting back and letting people port wp7 to a device with no microsoft licence all together. they didnt get to be the biggest company in the world by letting things like that slide
Why would you want to anyway?
Personally I don't even like the look of WP7 interface. Some nice features but it just looks a bit naff to me!

i watched the wp7 keynote speach yesterday and was quite impressed, the people hub and the office hub both look very impressive, and as an xbox live gamer, the games hub looks awsome things i dont like about it are, it seems more of a feature phone than a smart phone, and like the iphone its very ms orientated, i dont like that, you can use android without even knowing google develop it
Hello,
My name is Trevor and I own and built www.taxiroute.co.uk which is a taxi fare calculator for the UK.
The website on its own generates £12m of enquiries a year. I deperately need a Windows Phone 7 app writing.
I was wondering if anyone might be interested in having a chat about joining taxiroute to help write this app?
Knowledge of Bing Maps and integration to webservices would be advantageous.
Drop me a line if you might be interested.
Thanks
Trev
http://www.freelancer.com/
I know all about freelance.com and im sure they will appreciate the backlink.
but im not looking for a freelancer as such.
I would like to team up with someone, and i appreciate this is a long shot, who does wp7 and hopefully might think taxiroute is a good idea and would like to come aboard.
The website is doing £11m of enquiries a year 18 months in. People seem to love it. But they always beat me with the stick "where's the mobile version?" And, "how many people do you think are looking for a taxi in front of their laptop?"
I've done all the back end. the api is ready:
http://www.taxiroute.co.uk/DesktopModules/IWeb/webservice.asmx
I wrote an old wm 6.5 version and it worked great. wm6.5 is obsolete really. but a good test.
Ive managed to get a wp7 demo together but im just mashing other peoples code together withought really understanding what it does completely.
So, anyone out there messing around with wp7 that might like to take a chance?
its bing mapping, silverlight, xaml, webservices and all the other things you probably know more about than me...lol
my main competitor just won the king of bling maps and is featurd in the US tv campaign.
Any fools out there with a couple of hours spare?

To be honest it looks like you're trying to get some developer to come do some work for you for free, and then you'll turn around and make some money off it.
to that all i can say is "no" really.
in my above post i hoped to prove that this is not a flash in the pan and that i had made a lot of effort before i considered wasting other peoples time.
this is an honest offer.
i dont know what else to say really.
trev
i sound like a bloody advert for wp7. ive said really, 4 times, 5 including this one..
Well, you wouldn't be the first person posting here who was like that You're actually the third guy in the last two weeks to come here looking for a WP7 programmer.
It's still not really clear what you're looking for. You're not building an open source program, you're not looking for a freelancer apparently, are you looking to hire someone, or enter a profit-sharing agreement or something?
I send you a PM

Well the routing is trying to take me down a road thats been closed off for years and years. So not much good if it cannot give me an alternate route.
You need to get this fixed. Just as well its a free download.

Hi, firstly thanks for taking the time to have a look at the app and giving me some feedback!
I must admit, and im not trying to avoid responsibility here, but the routing is all done by Bing Maps. The chances of me being able to get them to update their maps is zilch
Could I ask a favour?
Would you try the route that you mention in the websites below and let me know what they come back with?
http://www.bing.com/maps/
and
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
It would be interesting to see if firstly the web version of Bing also has the same problem with the route and whether Google maps says anything different.
Your help would be greatly appreciated

Yes Bing maps are sending me down the wrong route, but Google is giving me the correct routing. Try yourself (Marchburn Drive to Aberdeen Airport.)
I think that we really need to build some interest in hacking this kin phone. It appears that there are very few who post but there are a lot more viewing. I decided to create this poll so that maybe we can show it to some skilled mobile hackers letting them know that this phone is not dead and has amazing potential. I encourage everyone who reads this to vote in the poll. without every single person showing interest we may never get anywhere. So don't just read this but sign up and vote. Show your support!!! Lets generate some interest. Vote now and then go spread the word.
I'm interested in seeing the phone get hacked so that all its minor annoyances can be fixed but:
1. do not have the kin twom phone (eyeing to get one)
2. suck at programming
I tend not to post because I am letting the experts (who have the phone and skills to hack the phone) post their progress and such.
I been preying/stalking former Kin phone developers out on LinkedIn as johnkussack suggested but no one has replied back to add me as a contact so that I could send them private msgs asking for their help.
Maybe if we could also start calling Microsoft/Sharp/Verizon. If we have enough interest maybe we could persuade them. Maybe one of us could just get lucky with talking to a "certain" individual who is willing to give some information out. Someone mentioned on another post that Verizon was willing to give out the rom with permission from Sharp. It might also help to remember the person you talk to so that you can call them often and develop somewhat of a "friendship". Any convincing people here?
theres actually some good progress in ideas, but no progress in actually succsesfully hacking it. We just need time.

Time and Information to be exact.
I would love to see this thing hacked
It has such great hardware for (now a feature phone). 8mp camera, 720p video recording, 600mhz Tegra processor, 256mb of RAM, and 8 gb of storage. Those are low-end (atleast on the processor and ram side of things) smartphone specs. If someone got android or hacked the actual Kin OS, it would be amazing. Honestly, I have to wonder if Microsoft (since they gave up on the phone) would hand over any info on it. I highly doubt it but eh you never know.
10...
I think this is why we dont have any serious phone hackers helping out.
http: // w w w.crunchgear. com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Zune-HD.png
Has anyone tried this?
Hook up your kin and see if it is recognized by windows phone connector?
it can recognize zune HD so why not kin?
and if it doesnt recognize kin we could make a driver...
any thought?

If no one makes if for "fun", no one makes it for recognition, and if no one does for money, you are allowed to begin to suspect what the Kin status is.
Why would you want to hack the Kin2. this guy i work with has one. He absolutly hates it. I would have to agree with him. I tried to use it for a couple mins and gave up.

The reason we want to hack it is because the only that sucks about it is the OS. It has great hardware and could be an excellent feature phone if it were programmed better. Just one thought, look at the how smooth the interface and touch movement is in the zune portion of the phone. It is much smoother than the actual OS. Basically, Microsoft did a poor job with the OS and so the hardware is not being utilized to its full potential. That is why we are trying to optimize it.

exactly, the poor OS development ended up it not using its full processor potential, its like they had a deadline to make it, and they werent finished....
