The question is that can the phone work in usb host mode. As far as I know, it can, but not sure of it.
I had done some research.. sadly the one v doesn't support USB host..

Well, sad news I must say, but let's see what de developpers can do for the goal.
From what I've read, the Titanium-KISS kernel has USB Host Mode but is only available for the GSM version of the HTC One V (PrimoU).
I'm unclear if any custom kernels on the CDMA version of the HTC One V (PrimoC) support USB Host Mode yet.
Check this out.

I ran the compatibility checker, and it seems to work. I'm on Paranoid Android, and supersick kernel, CDMA.
Note that all this is, is a mount to hold the phone and controller together. I would first suggest downloading Sixaxis controller from the play store and make sure it works before buying the klip.
I'll have to borrow a PS3 controller and try that out. I suspect that SixAxis Compatibility Checker is only saying that connecting to the controller wirelessly via Bluetooth is compatible, since you don't necessarily need to use USB on the phone to configure / pair the controller for the app (you can use their special PC based utility to do that).
Wireless controllers (PS3 / Wii / etc) via Bluetooth are definitely a good alternative though if connecting wired controllers via USB doesn't work with the kernel. Besides, having an external power adapter hanging off your phone to power the controller is kind of inconvenient anyway.

This seemed like an accessories question, so i decided to put it here. Has anyone with an OTG cable tried to use a 360 controller with an emulator? That would be awesome. If someone could try, or if someone HAS tried and know if it works or not could let me know that would be awesome.
I doubt VERY highly that it will work, but I have all the stuff to try it so I will report back in around 10 minutes haha.

Well in theory it should work because anything thats HID Usb should be supported by otg. Here hopin! haha
For some reason I can't even get my mouse/keyboard to work right now (it has worked before) and unfortunately I'm down to about 5% battery. I'll do further investigation tomorrow.
While you're right that theoretically any USB device can work, you still need the right drivers. The problem is that Android uses a monolithic kernel instead of the standard Linux microkernel. That means you can't simple load the right module when you need it. If you want to use the wireless receiver you'll have to compile your own kernel with the xboxdrv module built in.

Nope no wireless reciver. Just the plain old xbox 360 controller, with the usb. Why would I go a round about way of using the wireless receiver instead of just the controller?

I haven't tried it on my kindle fire, but I have tried it on my xoom. Works fine. I will give it a shot in a few hours when work slows down, but I dont' see why it wouldn't work, so long as the emulator supports gamepads, and the rom/kernel does the usb host stuff.
update: Nope. controller never lights up, looks like it isn't even there. this was using the motorola OTG cable, aokp rom with the 3.0 kernel.

I didn't on my xoom, and it recognized it, so I didn't think to use one with the fire. I don't have a powered usb hub, so I can't be of any more help.

Any rom that can enable KF using OTG?
Hi,
My phone doesn't detect my Wired Xbox 360 Controller via the USB OTG cable. The cable is working normally, tried with a mouse and keyboard.
The lights just keep flashing on my controller and it doesn't respond to button presses. I was under the impression this controller should work natively with Jelly Bean, without any configuring, as I've seen many guides to just plug and play.
Am I doing something wrong or do other people have the same issue?
I thought I was the only one who wanted to do this... unfortunately support needs to be added in the kernel I believe, and in the appropriate .kl file. I have not tried just modifying the .kl yet, as I got a moga.
even ive purchased a og usb otg cable 4 the same reason & also 2 use external hdd drives but the controller behaves the same 4 me & abt the hdd thing is still unknown.
Wot ?
This is all new to me. What would you do with xbox controller pluged in ur phone ?

Damn, sucks to hear that. Why isn't Samsung doing anything to this issue? Control support in games is getting more common all the time.

To play games, as mentioned earlier. Theres dozens of games which have native gamepad support.
Anyone try and connect a DS3 to the G3? Just checking before I go through the hassle of the setup itself, it was a massive pain in the butt on my M7 and I want to play emulators on the go and be able to actually play mobile games comfortably on this beautiful screen.
Bump.

We're asking if it works and connects properly...not every phone is compatible with it. HTC devices are a huge pain in the ass for instance.
Yes it does work with it on Bluetooth if you are rooted. here is the link for the GameKlip™ - Universal CaseMount http://buy.thegameklip.com/products/gameklip-casemount. As long as you have a case to mount too it.
Guys i have a G3 and i tried to hook a ps3 controller to it but either the phone or the controller wont read eachother cause it never lights up with an OTG cable ive tried 2 different controllers and still the same result and yes my G3 is rooted cause i knew i may need root but it never reads the controller please help
I can't seem to get the Dual shock 3 (PS3 controller) to work wired with my device. It works without problems on my brother's Nexus 5. Wirelessly using the sixaxis controller app it works without problems, but through an OTG cable it doesn't. Is the device not supported? Is there any known way to add support to a ROM?
Cheers
Why not using the gamepad with Bluetooth...if it works use it with that instead of breaking your head because wired it doesn't work

The only reason I can think of is the idea it would use less battery but I don't see that being true.
Because I want to use it with gamestream and since Bluetooth and WiFi uses the same antenna it interferes and gives me lag.

Normally both shouldn't be a problem together....do you tried if your pad is connected to start the service in sixaxis app? It worked always for me doesn't matter if I used my old one x or the m8

No you can use the app without Bluetooth ... You can use it even if you connected the ps3 controller wired ...Normally it should work ... Also if it's connected wired look in keyboard settings if the pad is mentioned there.
And in sixaxis app you also need to enable the option that the pad like the native gamepad

Are you sure? The Sixaxis controller app is made to be used with bluetooth. Normally Android devices supports ps3 controllers wired natively. I'm still having troubles understanding your suggestion.
I start the app and connect USB, no luck.

If you go into the settings inside the sixaxis app you can enable that the pad will be saw by system as native gamepad...try that also ...if not it could be that your otg cable doesn't work good with the gamepad...mine works really fine without problems ...only some games aren't able to be played with this controller
That's strange because M8 supports X360 controller natively

That option only makes it look like a gamepad to the system when it's connected through bluetooth. Does it work for you? What ROM and kernel are you using?

Using renovate 4.0.1 so latest Rom and stock kernel as flar's kernel is not updated yet ... It always worked for me on every Rom or kernel and also on hox it always worked... Hm
Edit: like I said it could be the OTG cable too...often it doesn't work with some...try to get another one
I just flashed flar's kernel. The controller now works. I haven't ran into any problems either even though it isn't updated.

Yea if could be that on stock kernel some OTG features aren't working like on custom kernels were many things are added or tweaked..but orbits working now then good
The dualshock 4 controller works natively on the m8 wired.
You can use it scroll through the screens and select apps. Not all games work, minecraft being one, but a lot do.
The buttons can be a bit odd though. For example in goat simulator, the options button is headbutt. Quite frustrating.
Does anybody know if there is there anyway of remapping the buttons?

Hello,
It's possible to connect and use the PS4 controller on a HTC 10 please ?
When I activate the Bluetooth, I can connect to my controller (Wireless Controller), but my controller does not work. Nor in Android, or in a game.
A solution ?
I use HTC 10 with the ROM Ice 1.0.2.
No one knows how ?

Got can try the six axis pair tool, can't see why it wouldn't work. Personally use the moga. I'll be testing that tomorrow in work [emoji106]
Haven't ever tried the ps4 pad but it should work.
Try the pair tool to see if it's functional before buying the app.
The MAC address needs to be changed, Google six axis. Originally based on the Ps3 pad.

I have tried bluetooth via the sixaxis route (changing the MAC address to match my phone) and I have tried verified to be working USB-C OTG cables (USB thumb drives work fine via the cable on the HTC10) and both seem to connect to the dual shock 4 (bluetooth connects and lists it as a controller and when using the OTG cable the DS4 connects and starts charging) but none of the controller buttons do anything. I'm not sure where to go from here... Maybe it's missing a generic and controller specific key layout file but I am not sure, I'll have to dig deeper once I root.

The six axis app, that does require root doesn't it? Can't remember it's been a while. Moga kind of took over.
I've got a long day in work today with little to do, so will have a go myself.

The sixaxis app (that requires root) does not work on Marshmallow. I was referring to the sixaxis pairing tool which doesn't have anything to do with root. Both the pairing tool and OTG methods work on my Nexus 6 for the DS4.
I test with a Nexus 5 (Android 6.0.1) : not work
But work with a Wiko Rainbow 4G (Android 4.4.2).
Tried the app, didn't work. Couldn't connect the controller either, will stick with me Moga

So I'm not the only one to meet this concern. Must now find a solution.
