please a little help...I am trying to upgrade the radio on my phone so that I can use wifi calling.
I tried the PC10IMG zip on the root of sdcard and that will not work...now I am trying to manually push from adb.
I followed instructions for the radio.img perfectly.
I put in fastboot devices in terminal and the device is recognized but when i try to flash the radio it says," error: cannot load 'radio.img'"
current radio: Vision_Radio_12.57.60.25_26.10.04.12
wanted radio: Vision_Radio_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19
maybe my sim card is too old please help...and know that I posted this in the correct thread just wasnt getting any views because its such an old thread. Thanks!!!
I'm not 100% sure but I think you're getting that error because you don't have an ENG bootloader (it says HBOOT and not ENG-HBOOT), which means you shouldn't be allowed to flash anything with fastboot commands.
I am also trying to upgrade my radio (kind of, actually it's the rcdata.img) and fastboot just isn't detecting my PC10IMG.zip
You need to have engineering bootloader in order to use fastboot flash. Is weird that it isn't picking it up from the root of the SD card. Are you sure in the bootloader you selected the first option with the power button it should immediately begin to load and detect
Sent from my Xoom using xda app-developers app
Ill take some pictures in the morning and look up the guide that I used to flash my engineering bootloader
Sent from my Xoom using xda app-developers app
I went on #g2root and a nice guy named skorgon helped me out with flashing PC10IMG.zip even if your bootloader does not detect it.
Just open a command prompt and change directory to where you have PC10IMG.zip, then
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
your phone will reboot into RUU mode and show an HTC logo on a black background
Code:
fastboot flash zip PC10IMG.zip
it will show a progress bar on both the phone and the command prompt will give a text progress. if you see "error: cannot load 'PC10IMG.zip'", make sure your command prompt is in the same directory as the actual PC10IMG.zip file (using Win7, hold shift, right click, then choose "Open command window here")!
when it's done, just do
Code:
fastboot reboot
done!

Yo thanks everyone...especially C00ler...def gave me just the information I needed...I love when this stuff happens I remember once again why I visit xda everyday, such a helpful community...thanks guys!!
Got the radio, got the eng hboot and I have my wifi calling working!!!
neither of my desire z's say ENG-HBOOT...
so what have i done wrong?
i followed this guide when rooting http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_Z:_Rooting
if you followed that guide you should have an engineering hboot, without know exactly what you did I can't say why you don't have it. are you rooted and have s-off? do you have a custom recovery?
if so not a huge deal but I tend to use fastboot a lot and would still recommened getting the eng hboot
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I have ENG S-OFF as it is in the post at the top of the thread.... I thought that was the engineering hboot?
The posts below are talking about eng-hboot on the hboot screen?
you have an engineering bootloader. spl/hboot/bootloader are referring to the same thing by the way
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
whoop, above two posts are right .. i somehow missed the ENG S-OFF bit
if the error message was "error: cannot load 'radio.img'" then perhaps real problem was that the command line directory wasn't the place with the radio.img

i think the post above clears up my confusion
My confusion came because it appears I have an older version of the eng bootloader 0.76.2000 so I was confused when I saw the op's 0.89.xxxx version.

Boom found the discrepancy.
Desire Z's bootloader is 0.89.xxxx
While my
Tmobile g2 is: 0.72.xxxx
I guess I should have done a little bit more research beforehand.

Hey guys,
I'm in desperate need of some help here.
I tried to install the latest build of Coredroid today, installed all the way to start up screen, then saw safe mode sign.
Rebooted phone.
Straight to bootloader (Android skateboarder page).
In bootloader, volume keys do NOT work, thus, I cannot navigate.
I tried several things, my phone will NOT allow me to boot into Clockwork Recovery, no matter what I do.
I have tried renaming several different roms to PD98IMG and then rebooting, bootloader loads the file then takes me here:
Parsing...[SD ZIP]
[1] BOOTLOADER
[2] BOOT
[3] RECOVERY
[4] SYSTEM
[5] SPLASH1
[6] SPLASH2
[7] USERDATA
[8] TP
[9] TP
[10] TP
[11] TP
[12] RADIO_V2
[13] RADIO_CUST
I can't select any of these since my volume keys are unresponsive.
Just so you know, the details at the top of my bootloader screen are as follows:
ACE PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.2007 (PD981000)
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.03.02.26
Can you guys please offer some suggestions?
I'm in such desperate need of help!
Kind regards,
- Ric
My volume keys seem to work in boot loader. Strange that it isn't working for you.
What you can do is open up cmd and use adb shell reboot recovery It should reboot into recovery for you.
There's a fair few threads where people report similar things, although there doesn't seem to be a conclusive solution.
I just tried an adb shell reboot recovery in boot loader and it couldn't find the device. Will try a few other things and get back to you.
The command you want is 'fastboot reboot recovery'

Yes...
You need to get adb and fastboot working. There are plenty of tutorials on here. They both come with the sdk.
Once you have fastboot working its just a case of using that command.
I would use an ruu as a last resort. I don't know about your phone.. but with mine, I have to switch s-on first. So makes it complicated.
Hope u get it sorted. Simply by having bootloader on your phone it means you are recoverable.

Ok, well thanks for the support.
I'll see what I can do.
Hey, So I think I've figured out how to fix your problem. Is your phone unbranded? And the RUU file you have. What steps did you try to get that to work? From what I've read around the forums you can either go into the bootloader. Plug in your USB, and it should come up something like "FASTBOOT USB" on the screen to confirm it. Run the exe and it should take you through the steps. You said you got an error so im assuming thats the steps you tried already.
Failing that, have you got a card reader? If so, you can drop an RUU's pb99img file onto the root of the sd card as Hboot looks for this file when it loads. This will then performs the same action without the need for USB connectivity.
So it's just "pb99img.zip" so delete everything between pb99img and .zip from the filename.

Hello mate, got everything downloaded.
fastboot reboot recovery
Doesn't do a great deal.
After I type it and press enter, the command prompt displays a list of commands and options.
Something along the lines of:
usage: fastboot [ <option> ] <command>
update <filename>
flashall
flash <partition> [ <filename> ]
erase <partition>
and so on...
There doesn't appear to be any interaction with the device itself...

The RUU file you have, It should be about 150mb or something right? and make sure it is the correct RUU file. It should be zipped up and just rename it so it is "pb99img.zip" and make sure not to put it in any sort of folders onto your sd card.
I'm assuming you have the RUU already as you said you tried it already. If not try this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824357

the rom.zip found in an RUU is usually 250-290mb in size depending on carrier addons. This is what is renamed to PD98IMG.zip

And why hasnt anyone asked him if HTC Sync has been installed?
If you plug in your USB cable while your DHD is powered off, does it go into offmode charging? (does the charging led turn on after a few seconds?)
If so, you should be able to "adb shell" into your phone
Hi all, i've recently rooted and flashed Android Revolution all went well and fine. I rooted using the newest version of ACE Hack etc...
Anyways I've been running the stock radio from TELUS on my DHD since I bought it and I'd like to change it to what AR ROM recommends which is 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M.
My stock RADIO is 12.56.60.25u_26.10.04.03_M.
My problem is that I cannot flash this new radio. I followed the directions within the RADIO folder but I get a "FAILED remote not allowed"
The directions i fallowed are:
1. Connect your phone into a PC, and make sure that USB Debugging is enabled
2. Click "Start here". A black command prompt window will open
3. Type: "adb reboot bootloader"
4. Once your phone is in bootloader (white screen with text), type "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
5. When the flashing completes, type "fastboot reboot"
6. Done. Enjoy!
NOTE: I installed HTC sync like it asked as well.
I also tried to flash using the ACE hack kit i plugged my phone in ran the app typed 4 hit enter etc.. but after my phone restarts the ace hack hit menu screen loops and absolutely nothing has changed... I did have one issue where my phone booted and said "NO SIM" but after i restarted it went away.
Any help on how to flash this radio? it said not to flash using clockwork so i havn't.

no you dont. just need the radio.img in a zip
command: fastboot flash zip nameofzipwithradioinit.zip
zip must be in the root sd directory (meaning; not within any folders) and it will flash without issue with 'Radio S-OFF'
if its an original zip from an ruu or ota add "oem" in between 'fastboot' and 'flash' with spaces.
You still need s-off for this method... fastboot commands are locked at ship hboot
I do what i want, because I can.

1. True S-OFF is a permanent type of S-OFF. There are ways to do it temporarily. It looks like yours is perm S-OFF.
2. From the instructions that you followed, did you have to put a PC10IMG file onto the root of your SD card? If that file is still there, the bootloader will always look to that file and not allow anything else to be done.
3. Clockwork Mod will not show in an apps list. It replaces the recovery of your phone. It is not an app. As for ROM manager, I'm not sure what to tell you. Maybe if you can pull logs from your phone we can work on that.
4. Just because S-OFF shows up does not mean you are rooted. If you flashed the stock T-Mobile ROM then chances are you lost root privileges. You can do a quick check by looking in your app drawer for the "Superuser" app. If it is there, you are still rooted. If not, most likely you are not.
Oh! your smart…Yes PC10IMG is still on SD card.
As is superuser.apk and clockworkmod and titamium backup
"Superuser" app is not in app drawer
how would i pull the logs
take the image off sd card and you will be allowed back into recovery, then do a full wipe and flash rom of choice via recovery

ok took off image and it allowed me into recovery now i have a cool picture of the phone with a red triangle and exclamation point
update: pulled battery turned it on using only power button goes to tmobile stock screen and works fine. do i need to re root and flash new rom?
need to flash a custom recovery again via fastboot. get the .img from somewhere in xda (or google it)
put recovery.img in the same folder as fastboot.exe on computer
connect your phone via usb and boot into fastboot
open cmd on computer change directories to where fastboot and recvoery image are
type fastboot devices (just to make sure its working)
then type
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then
fastboot reboot bootloader
now boot into recovery
now flash rom of choice via recovery

Hello, thanks for all the help.
Am I using ADB AND FASTBOOT or SDK to put recovery.img in the same folder as fastboot.exe on computer
sorry a bit confused on what you are asking
after downloading the sdk package you will find a folder probably under platform tools with adb and fastboot .exe in it
this is the folder you want the recovery image
this is also the folder you want to open cmd
right click in the folder and choose open comand here
then you should be ready to use fastboot
(another option is to change enviromenta variables so you dont need to worry about what folder fastboot is in in the future but not necessary right now)

did you get the recovery in an .img or a .zip? if its zipped extracted it
alsom make sure it is named recovery.img
windows adds the file extention so you may just need to name it recovery

Flash any ROM from recovery. You are still S-OFF. If you lost recovery, then reflash one. Use the guide in my signature to guide (section A-OFF no recovery)

In your case, you may be able to skip right to step 5, so I'd try the htcdev stuff first. If you don't get an oem identifier key, you'll have to start from step 1.
1) You need http://www.mobfirmware.com/dl/behtas... dhd/rom.zip
Move it to where your adb files are.
Then do the following from adb:
2) adb reboot oem-78 >> this will put you in RUU download mode. I found you can run this command from CWM Recovery. Though... if you don't have any recovery I'm unsure how to hit RUU download mode. There is an .exe from HTC Dev that'll do it from Fastboot, so there must be a command (fastboot reboot oem-78 maybe??)
Once you're at the black screen w/ silver HTC logo, type:
3) fastboot flash zip rom.zip >> This will change your hboot to one w/ an oem signature. Once it's successful, type:
4) fastboot reboot
5) Now, you'll need to go to htcdev.com/bootloader and follow the instructions to get your KEY (fastboot oem get_identifier_token) and paste it to HTCDev to get your boot unlock bin file emailed to you. Follow the last steps to unlock your bootloader.
The steps are something like: boot to fastboot> type oem command> copy / paste key to htcdev> receive email> download .bin file to adb folder> run command to unlock w/ .bin file (it's on the htcdev site).
NOW you can flash the custom recovery or boot imgs without getting the "Signature Verified Fail" Error.
Goodluck! I just went through this whole process of no CWM and no ROM so you can get your phone up and going w/ a custom rom from where you're stuck! Don't give up!

Why would he want to unlock the bootloader when he is already S-OFF?
Besides, it is not possible to flash ruu with an unlocked bootloader. And signature fail will always be there. Even custom roms are signed. Of course not HTC signature, digitally signed.

It is on 2.3.4 I have tried to downgrade...nope I tried to upgrade using the HTC website and that will not work. Any ideas? Thanks
Here is what I get in hboot sereen

As strange as all that sounds I've heard others having similar problems, can't recall what the issue was off hand but I would assume flashing the latest ruu should fix this. When you say updated from HTC was this flashing latest ruu? If yes then what were the errors?

I went to the HTC web site and downloaded the latest RUU and when I run it the program will recognize the phone and start but the phone will not reboot into the bootloader. I can get it there manually but it times out and says that the phone is not connected.
I don't believe the phone is to auto boot into fastboot mode, been a long time since I ran an ruu but I believe you need to
Manually boot into bootloader
Plug in phone via USB to PC
Choose fastboot mode on phone
Open a terminal in the same location that the downloaded ruu exists
The type fastboot devices (just to make sure you are connected)
Then type
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Once in the new screen type
fastboot flash xxx.zip
(Replace xxx with name of ruu.zip)
Then when complete
fastboot reboot

My bad I guess I should have been more clear I am running the HTC update utility. The file I am using is a executable file not a zip. I cannot find the latest updated file in a zip file. Can I flash any ruu or doe it have to be the next highest one?
Of hand I'm not too sure what to try then, its been a long time since I used that method but you do need to flash a newer version or it won't work. Is it possible to extract images from the executible file? Maybe can be turned into a flashable zip? Maybe see if you can get the version number off it and see if anyone made one?
