Or the F1 GalaxyNexus Rom for a truely pure google experience.
Or anyother aokp rom
it would be nice to have the aosp dialer and contacts and not just the icons...but i guess that will never be possible because of the framework differences...
Ofc install a new rom will be better.... This is for the ones that don't want doit

Can anyone help me out here?
I'm on the stable unofficial cm7.2 from alquez. Now the nightly builds are being released, but everytime I update by installing the zip via cwm my link2sd goes all nuts.
When I reboot after flash I get a mount warning, so I do a reboot.. then I try all sorts of things but all the liniks seem to be messed up and my internal memory goes full to capacity.
Does anyone know how to update without messing up my link2sd? I have to restore my nandroid everytime and so I don't get to use the nightlies.
I'm using an 8GB SD partitioned ext4 to 1GB.
Getting back up and running from a CM7 Nightly Update
1/ NANDROID BACKUP TO GET BACK TO WHERE YOU WERE IF YOU HAVE TO
2/ Titanium backup of all apps/data and system data
4/ Backup Titanium backup, ES File Explorer and LINK2SD apk's to SD card (Always have them there anyways!) using ES File Explorer
3/ Full wipe and install of new nightly and gapps
4/ Use CM7 File Explorer to reinstall TB, ES File, and LINK2SD
5/ Run Link2SD and relink SD Ext
6/ Turn on autolinking in settings
7/ Reboot
8/ Full titanium restore (files will auto relink to SD Ext with autolink on)
9/ Mass unlink the files you want on the Internal memory
10/ Redo your widgets on desktop
All your settings including WiFi, Google accounts, apps settings and data, System and Cyanogenmod settings will be retained.
Like I said. Pretty much all you have to redo is widgets.

After flashing new build of CM7
go to link2sd, then recreate mount script choosing your correct partition (ext4 in this case)
fully reboot (not quick reboot)
all your app should now shown correctly

Sometimes you can lose some but not all of your linked apps and they won't relink dalvik or libraries.
Last attempt at a normal update and remount script I lost 69 apps that refused to relink.
If you want to be safer than sorry...

OMg. That's the same as installing any custom ROM, just keeping the settings (which I backup anyway). I can't do this nightly! I might as well just update when there are major major improvements such as kernal, etc.
Can't we like, use a patch or something that saves all the links when updating, or something like that?

I'll work something out.
I too, always do full backup with Titanium, then full wipe, clear dalvik cash, install new CM build, then restore app using Titanium again.
My question is, why when I reinstall new build, gapps are always present, I don't have to install them again? I always do factory reset, clear cash partition and dalvik cash before update.

They're present because you included them in the full titanium backup.

that would be great, thanks in advance.
I would like to remove the sense from my rom and replace it with either adw launcher or launcher pro.
Could any one give me tut on how to do this or point me in the right direction.
Danke In Advance.
try this
written for desire, but the principles should be virtually the same. requires adb and command lines.
sense launcher is normally called rosie.apk. you can delete all other sense widgets too and any other system apps you don't want, just be careful not to delete any system critical stuff.
make sure you have the other launcher already installed (i prefer go launcher personally)
always have a nandroid just in case
you won't get any more internal memory by doing this, just more unused space on system partition, but at least it won't be cluttered with stuff you don't use
(i assume you're not s-off, otherwise you could just delete the stuff directly using something like root explorer)
I am s-off i might need to go into more detail .. basically i'm trying to create my own rom but i'm having difficulty removing htc sense and adding my own custom launcher (adw) i've tried it twice but all that happens is i get a black screen after boot with the notification bar and thats it the rom works but with no gui

well if you're s-off much easier, no command lines at all, you can pretty much ignore that guide lol
- nandroid backup
- download and install adw as you would normally, set it to default launcher.
- use root explorer or similar to delete rosie.apk + sense widgets + any apps you don't use
- reboot into recovery, wipe dalvik and cache
- reboot will take a while as it's rebuilding dalvik.
should work fine, did this before on all desire sense roms i used before. the principle for this phone should be the same in theory
if it works, you can then move adw to system/app with titanium backup (pro?), or 'SystemCleanup' (free). the launcher should run better from system/app
I will give this ago and tell you how it got on but I should say before I start i won't be doing any of this on my actual device I will be modifying a stock rom using the android kitchen

lol you really need to give more details in the first post, not as you go along...
i've not used the kitchen, guess it doesn't give the option to have adw as well as rosie?
if you modify a cooked rom from the kitchen use 7zip.
- (make a copy of the rom.zip)
- double click the rom.zip opens it (but doesn't extract it).
- delete rosie.apk etc from system/app
- drag the adw apk into the same folder.
- close 7zip to update it
- nandroid backup, full wipe and flash (you may need to turn off signature verification in recovery)
if this doesn't work then try to do as above, but don't delete anything before flashing. set it up, then delete stuff after as described originally
It doesn't give you the option to change the launcher whilst modding the rom but i thought you would just be able to remove the rosie.apk and all the other htc crap whilst modding it and give it your own launcher I'm it might have something to do with modding the internal system such as the framework which i will do if needed but *sigh such a balls up on my part just tried what you suggested then booted into recovery wiped everything then tried installing to no luck
"installation aborted"
(bad) <--- what the hell is that supposed to mean lmao !!
not certain this sounds like the zip got corrupted during transfer.
if you modded the zip as described, clockwordmod should at least try to install it and you can see the progress. worst comes to worst the rom just won't boot if you've deleted too much, or just something critical.
to be sure, you're not extracting and rezipping right?
try downloading again, transfer using card reader if possible.
also keep an unmodified rom.zip made using the kitchen, and transfer to sd card using the same method. try installing that for comparison.
Hi.
I hope, i'm in the right section here...
I wanted to Change from AOKP 4.2.2 to AOKP 4.3 nightly, did a backup with Titanium, flashed the new rom and restored contacts, sms and user-apps. After reboot the screen got spammed with 2 error messages:
android.process.acore must be closed
android.process.phone must be closed
With this, it's not usable an i had to restore a nandroid backup.
Any help there?

Did you flash the 4.3 bootloader and change the backup directory for tbckup ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4
Hi. Thx for answering.
Flashing a new bootloader? I never had to do this for the last releases since i bought the phone with 4.0.1 stock.
Please tell me what do you mean. I don't find some hints about this in the release notes.
Yes, i changed the backup directory to "legacy", because restore would not start without that.
After that Titanium asked me to copy the backup files to the new directory, but it doesn't anything if i answer with "yes". And it does the restore, so i didn't care about that.
Edit:
Here are some additional information:
Baseband: XXLA2
Bootloader: PRIMELA03
Should these be updated?
After a couple of tests and searching forums of the world for hours, i have found a solution
solution for having fc with android.process.acore:
- restore a backup (nandroid) of your rom
- go into the settings of the contacts
- chose: export to sd
- flash new rom
- import contacts from vcf file on sdcard
- restore apps and settings with Titanium WITHOUT(!) contacts (contact memory, contacts/calls)
solution for having fc with com.android.phone:
(don't know if this is the best order, but it was the order i did when testing and helped for me. it could be that only copying the dialer app to /system/apps was the final solution. before, it connected to gsm and i could do calls and sending sms, but nothing else.)
- open settings/apps/all
- erase cache/data of Dialer, Telephone and Tel/SMS-Memory (don't know how its exaktly named when set to english)
- deinstall dialer app with Tiitanium
- erase dalvik and cache partition in cwm recovery
- reboot
- search and copy the dialer.apk from the extracted rom file to sd and install it
- copy dialer.apk to /system/apps
- search, download and copy "fix_permissions:emulator" to sd (i'm not allowed to post links at this time)
- restore Tel/SMS-memory (sms/mms/apn) from Titanium
- reboot to cwm recovery
- flash fix_permissions_emulator.zip to do a fix permissions action (cwm has it anymore and fix permissions in rom manager didn't help)
- reboot
- now, dialer app should open without fc and connect to 3G
Hi,
Early last year I rooted my Desire and installed CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v6.3 .
Everything works fine, even A2SD.
Now Android 4.4.2 KOT49H / CyanogenMod 11.0 for HTC Desire (GSM) is out and I want to try this.
I've already downloaded the zip-files from the post.
I'm confused because I can't get my 'mind set' what to do next?: (and can't find the right post on the forum)
Is this the correct way?
- copy the 3 downloaded files to SD
- start phone with down volume + power
- go to recovery
- install zip from SD
- choose cm-11-20140317.....
- reboot.....
Do I have to clean the SD or not.....
Please advice.
- Copy rom and gapps to sd card
- Boot into recovery
- Full wipe (not including the sdcard)
- Flash rom
- Boot the phone up normally
- Activate a2sd (instructions are in the OP of the rom)
- Reboot back into recovery
- Flash gapps
- Reboot
- Profit
Also make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Using a newer recovery such as 4EXT or TWRP
- You have an ext partition on your sdcard (you probably already have this since you are using a2sd on 4.2.2)
Might be a bit late but just in case...
If you want to keep apps between rom flashes, your very first step should be to back them up with something like titanium backup. Also backup your contacts to Google account etc. Because these all get wiped...
Also, before you full wipe, it's good practice to make a nandroid backup just in case:
- for whatever reason new rom doesn't flash and doesn't boot
- you don't like the new rom
That way you always have a safe point point to restore to
Unless you know exactly what you're doing, making a nandroid backup before you flash anything is just good habit

I did it the wrong way.
Installed the ROM again, then did a2sd and after that I did Gapps.
And it works GREAT! Now I'm setting up my apps etc. And the good news is: internal memory 44 MB used and 110 MB free. So a2sd works fine till now!!
Even google maps navigation works, didn't work that well with cyanogen 10.1 android 4.2.2.
Thanks guys for your help!!
Hey guys, I sharing debloating script for those interested in a higly DEBLOATED LP installation, very slimmed down, battery friendly, faster, with less RAM comsuption etc
It will remove everything that is not important so before proceding be sure to backup full system
RESULT
As said at the top, you'll get a very slimmed down LP FW, battery friendly, very fast, with less RAM comsuption etc
Of course, everything is working great here, I mean all the features I need/use!
you are going to delete more than 160 packages in total with all relevant libs/stuff plus all applications automatically installed by Sony
HOW TO RESTORE SOMETHING
PS. of course I also removed from my FW all the stuff that can be easily downloaded from the Play Store (Gmail, etc)
below you will find the restoring instructions you need to follow to restore any package you may want back
According to what you want to restore, you have to follow two different procedures:
- all the APKs that are inside /system/__Backup/various/etc_custom_apps and /system/__Backup/various/etc_prod_apps are regular APKs that are going to be installed in /data, so you can just run them and then select "install" like a normal APK, easy. You will then see them in Settings > applications > downloaded
- instead, all the things in /system/__Backup/system_app and /system/
__Backup/system_priv-app folders can't be normally installed, but must be restored in the correct /system folders with correct permissions. To do this, see the step-by-step instructions below (in the following example, I am going to restore Chrome app in /system/app and Velvet (Google Search) in /system/priv-app, but of course you can restore how many things as you want at the same time)
Click to collapse
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_app and MOVE the whole "Chrome" folder to /system/app
- with a root file manager like ES, go to /system/__Backup/system_priv-app and MOVE the whole "Velvet" folder to /system/priv-app
- reboot
- done
Click to collapse
PS. don't copy but MOVE things back, or permissions will get messed up and you are likely to end up in a bootloop!
Requirements:
- working recovery
- be on LP already, 5.0.2 or 5.1.1, doesn't matter
DISCLAIMER
If you apply my script again please take care I did a pretty massive debloat as I don't use a lot of stuff (social apps, small apps, many of the sony "addons"/special settings etc!!) and this is a working config for me, but for others some functionalities will be probably missing, so mind what you do before apply them! (but again you can restore anything anytime, if interested just go for it)
Click to collapse
Installation:
1. full nandroid backup to eventually go back to previous any time
2. wipe data, cache and dalvik ***
3. flash debloating script
4. that's all! reboot/enjoy and hit thanks

Hi,
In stock debloated ROM whether screen mirroring will work or not, please let me know. Now I am using Decepticon ROM. Which one is better.
Before putting debloating script keeping a backup of all system apps using Titanium Backup is enough or not. Please clear my doubts.
