hi guys, i just want to ask, how can I check if the 4 cores in our HTC ONE X is running or not?
If your rooted you could download tegrastats from the market
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Download CPU Usage Monitor, it works without root.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
System Tuner from the Market does the same thing, even if you are unrooted...
why is it i used setcpu or franco kernel updater to set only 2 cores available to use, yet sometimes the 3rd or even 4th core could kick back online? is it kernel fault or source code problem?

Use this core control app to limit how many cores you want running http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1

I might be wrong, but I think if the app that you used to choose "only 2 cores" to use, and that app closes it might go back to system default later. You can try and set that settings for boot(won't actually recommend) and see if that works. You will need to reboot your device for this settings to apply.

Ok, I finally took the plunge and unlocked and rooted my One X and I added back most of my apps. I am still running stock but one of the CPU apps (SETCPU, Benchmark and Stability, Franco, who knows) dropped my minimum CPU to 51 and suddenly if I hit home button I get a long redraw. First, what IS stock min CPU and second, are the redraws a known issue? Just got this phone and my EVOLTE doesn't do that? Running latest 2.17, 4.0.4, 4.1 Sense, any suggestions?

its because of the agresive memory settings htc have put, try a custom rom they lock sense into memory, there is also a memory value mod that is reported help that can be found here

Hello everybody. I've a problem with setcpu with the JB stock Rom Vodafone UK(3.14.161...). I was able to run it and let it running in background but since yesterday I updated to JB, I set the setcpu options, and when I go out from the app and close it, I reopen the app and the options I set before are still in there but its like it doesn't work properly, because I want to underclock to 1,2 ghz but when I open the app the clock is usually in 1,4ghz and I look for the clock frequencies graphics and see there are lots of time using more than 1,2 ghz. So that should means setcpu is not working properly, anyone has an idea how I can make setcpu work properly? Thank you very much mate!!

Did you check in the playstore if the app is even compatible with JB ? Just a guess
I checked and it should work fine, are you running the last update or an older version....
You can't change cpu frequency on stock kernels. And no custom kernels work for sense JB so you're out of luck.

Hi,
My battery drains (very) fast (in my opinion).
My phone was fully loaded and 'used' it for 18h and it went from 100% to 9%
I didnt used my phone that much. I didnt played any game, i only used chrome and send text message.
My WiFi, mobile internet and auto sync is always on.
I used task manager sometimes, but it didnt helped i think.
So, is this normal battery drain or not?
My current rom is SkyDragon, but i've already tried other roms with same result.
If you have better battery please say what rom, kernel, mods, radio, etc.. you used please!
Thanks in advance!
Tom

18 hours with W-Fi, 3G and auto-sync active is actually pretty good. There is wild variability in HOX battery life, you wouldn't believe it.
18 hours is a decent figure. Refer to this thread for a better understanding...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096459

@ 48c the battery is classed as "over heated" though the battery will be fine up to around 60c
as for battery drain first task killers are a no no they always use more power than they save.
have you tried one of the custom kernels? i'm currently on XM's kernel and get around 3 hours screen time on CM 10.1.2.
check out this it is a great guide for saving battery or gaming and undervolting/underclock.

I'm gonna check that link tomorrow (need some sleep now ).
But I now CM is better for battery, because it has no sense.
But sense is the reason why I have a HTC so.. It's a little bit difficult..

Sense is having better battery then cm and other roms....so no its wrong...just use xm kernel or Alex-v kernel its really great for battery getting 4 hours with and without gaming up to 5 hours....but the right setup is also important...not just install kernel and let it so

You just need to make a file in system/ect/init.d
Here is the script I'm currently using.
#!/system/bin/sh
# ==============================
# XM settings

sleep 30
echo 1300000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
echo 1300000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

echo 1300000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
echo 1300000 > /sys/module/cpu_tegra/parameters/cpu_user_cap
echo 51000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 51000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 51000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 51000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo ondemand > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo "416 416 416 416 416 484 380 247" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/gpu_oc
echo "416 416 416 416 416 484 380 247" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/two_d_oc
echo "667 667 667 667 408 408 408 408" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/emc_oc
echo 2 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/auto_bln
echo 1 > /sys/android_touch/sweep2wake
echo 1 > /sys/devices/tegradc.0/smartdimmer/enable
echo 2 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/sched_mc_power_savings
echo '50' > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/button_brightness
You should be able to work out what each thing does, if I'm not here someone will be able to explain the parts to you.

It has to be modified stock kernel. You can't fool with cpu scaling values on complete stock kernel.

I literally just tried it now. Installed Trickstermod, set Max freq to 1.2 Ghz, set on boot, rebooted, and it reset the frequencies back to stock. So no, you can't do it unless it's modified. Also, I remember doing this on my Note 2 and it didn't work on a complete factory stock kernel.

Lol, okay. I'm holding a stock rooted S4 in my left hand. I just downloaded no frills CPU set max to 1566 and it didn't go over that speed, or if it did it wasn't reported. I appreciate you trying to help but while what your saying may be true for HTC, it's not true for kernels in general.

Hmmm, but I do remember my Note 2 doing the same thing with the frequencies. And you're right; I shouldn't generalize. At least we know the One can't do it.

In my attempts while porting the AT&T kernel I noticed the kconfig file has ACPU_CUSTOM_FREQ_SUPPORT set to default as "n" (no). So you will not be able to modify the cpu until I either get the AT&T port booting...or we get source code.
Same goes for the gpu...set to "n" as default.

Hmmmm, strange. I've been using trickster mod for the last several hours and my settings have stuck through two reboots . I enabled the "lock frequencies" option and my max is set to and has not exceeded 1242 MHz. It seems like the file you referenced refers to custom clock speeds. If that is in fact the case then it wouldn't be relevant in this situation since I am not attempting to change the available clock speeds but rather simply change the min and max which seems to be successfully accomplished using trickster mod.
