Update problem - HTC One V

I've got a little problem with update from HTC. I've downloaded update package and said to install it. Phone reboots to CWM and shows:
"E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted"
What should I do to install this update?

A bit more information?
Like cwm what version, what update etc?

Phone with unlocked bootloader and rooted, Titanium kernel build 3, CWM version: 5.8.3.1, Update: OTA_PRIMO_U_ICS_40A_HTC_Europe_2.08.401.2-1.56.401.2_release_263407fhrx3c7ruhhci3bi.zip

now that is a problem,
You can't update an OTA with CWM.
If I'm correct you want to go back to stock. If yes than follow these instructions (or if you have nandroid, backup at cwm)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705484

eee... I only have unlocked bootloader and root, no custom ROMs

but you have cwm, which is not the stock recovery, so OTA will not update. But if you are on stock, you need just to fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img from the same post. You will not be able to update from that zip, but RUU will update your device. use OTA rootkeeper to maintain root after ota.
---------------------------
Just to be 100% clear:
OTA updates are only installable by your device, if You have the stock recovery. CWM or touch recovery is not the stock version, so the phone cannot write partitions that is must, and stock recoveries often uses non-edified file verification, so the non-stock recoveries will see them as defected.
So if You want to update by that zip you just need to do the following:
fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img
fastboot oem lock (not sure if it is necessery, but it works for sure)
If you don't want to reroot your device after OTA, download OTA rootkeeper (voodoo) from market, and push protect root BEFORE update.
so you have the stock recovery, the zip which contains the OTA upgrade will install.

Got an OTA upgrade notification - but it wont install.

I have an Orange Desire
I installed Modaco's R8 rom a while back - running no problem.
Today I had an OTA notification from HTC ( not Orange ) about an update. Size was around 25mb. I downloaded it OK, but when it tries to install I get a triangle with an exclamation mark in it next to an Android figure.
I also get the message:
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: Signature verification failed
So my questions are:
1) Why can't I install it.
2) Is there a way to install it?
3) Am I missing much if I don't install it.
Thanks all

if your rooted you cant install any ota update
with a custom recovery you cannot use OTA updates,
u need to download and install it threw recovery.
The new OTA just gives u a new radio, mine .. u can download it and flash threw recovery, did not notice anything else...
Custom recover images do not accept ota updates. You can get the update as a repackaged zip though, usually, which will work on your custom recovery.

[Q] Update to 4.4.2 from 4.3 with TWRP

I am currently on 4.3 with TWRP. Could I flash the 4.4.2 factory image with the TWRP menu ?

you can flash the ota zip in twrp.
choose your correct ota zip file there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380113
and flash it with twrp.
EDIT: you must have an unmodified system... if you have a custom kernel for example, flash the ota zip will failure.
or if you have xposed framework running it could give errors.
I downloaded the JSS15R → KOT49H zip file, in TWRP I did a factory reset then install the zip, but at the end it said that the flashing has failed.

hmmm... ok weird.
are you using supersu 1.69 or older for root?
if yes you must disable ota survival in supersu settings and re-root after update.
or if you have root go to supersu settings and full unroot.
there are several reasons why an update could have failed. two of the most popular reasons you get an update failed error maybe because:
you may have downloaded the wrong version or the file may have been corrupted.
you might have deleted a system app or made changes to the system files.
EDIT:
if you know how to work with adb and fastboot you can try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47474021&postcount=26
and then sideload the ota update zip.
I finally flashed the 4.4.2 factory image via fastboot.
Thanks for trying to help.
For future reference the ota comes in a flashable.zip but if you are trying to flash the factory image taken from Google site then it needs to be flashed through fastboot

Stock Kernel and Recovery for HTC M8 1.54.401.10

I'm trying to get my HTC M8 back to stock so I can get the new 4.4.3 update, however, I am unable to find the stock kernel for my device.
It is software version 1.54.401.10.
I flashed to the elementalx kernel and put on a TWRP recovery.
I am able to download the update but when it installs, it just goes into recovery.
I made a backup of the original kernel a few months ago however it doesn't seem to be on my phone anymore.
When I look for stock kernels they all seem to be different versions than my device.
Can someone give me a bit of advice?
There are numerous guides for other versions but none mentions my software version.
Any kernel doesn't matter.
Your problem is you don't flash stock recovery.
TWRP or any custom recovery don't work for OTA.

How can I put the stock recovery back?
I put the stock recovery on and tried to update however I get a red triangle with an exclamation mark now...
why's it not taking properly?
I'm new to this obviously. I've figured out that's just how the stock recovery is. Now I'm trying to figure out why the ota doesn't work with the stock recovery.
I get this error when I try to install the update.
/system/lib/modules/adsprpc.ko has unexpected contents. Installation aborted.

This means that something of the system has been changed by you, so the ckecksum of the OTA doesn't match the configuration of your system and thus abort the installation process.

This means your ROM is modified, not pure stock.
I suggest you make a backup with your current ROM and restore the pure stock backup that I posted here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54564526#post54564526
1. flash back the TWRP recovery
2. make backup of your current one
3. restore pure stock backup that I linked above
4. flash stock recovery
5. reboot then do the OTA

@robgo please close this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/ota-update-4-4-3-t2856172. To open up two threads to aks the same question doesn't help to get to a solution any faster ....
Regarding the error. It means what @ckpv5 and I already told you.

Oh ok, I didn't know the kernel apparently doesn't matter when doing OTA's and here I am telling him to go back to stock kernel because it's a kernel related error he has...
Best I keep out of this one then, I never even flashed another kernel.

Right ... it's kernel related error but to be precised, it's the kernel module error.
Flashing a stock kernel without flashing stock module, the same error will occur.

Sideloaded and trwp original ROM now ota updates fails.

I played around with cm had but decides to go back to stock. I installed with twrp and then got a update notice. I downloaded and trwp tried to install but fail. Use toolkit to load original recovery and downloaded uodate, not it says updating and then says recovery fail. And when phone boots up it ask to downloaded update. Any help would be appreciated

If you are rooted. systemless or not, with or without xposed, the update will fail. Download the full rom from the mirror here and sideload it or flash it in twrp

the file size is 1.2 gigs from oneplus.net. There is no error code on TWRP and on the stock recovery it shows no errors just says Update fail

Hmm, I've not run into that issue. An error 7 in twrp usually means the system partition is modified (e.g root, hence my previous suggestion) but that doesn't effect the full 1+ gb zip as it's not an OTA but rather the full rom. Try contacting oneplus support
Use TWRP, and install the full OxygenOS 3.2.2 zip (do not try to use the OTA update - that won't work and also do not install the OTA update version), and wipe cache and dalvik, then reboot

Error sideloading OTA

I'm trying to update to 1.91.617.1 from 1.80.617.1 and getting an error. I'm s-on, removed SuperSU, downloaded the stock 1.80 TWRP system image, mounted system in TWRP (checked read only box), applied the stock 1.80 TWRP image and then flashed the stock 1.53.617.5 image.
When I go to sideload the 1.91.617.1 OTA I get the following

Alrighty seems like I fixed it! I ended up flashing the EraseDevInfo zip in http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/guide-how-to-ota-receive-corrupt-message-t3378187
Not sure how I did the first update without flashing it that file last time?

Glad that worked for you. You don't always trip the verity mode check when you modify system. It seems to only occur when you modify system AND use a 100% stock kernel. So it makes sense that ota will work sometimes and not others.
Edit: wrong thread

Do you mind me asking how I can manually flash 1.82.605.6 to my device? I'm s-off/rooted, bootloader locked, flashed stock recovery (thinking I could get OTA, I was wrong). Ideally I'd like to not lose data, but all I'm really worried about is not losing s-off or bricking my phone. It seems like this must be common knowledge, because any time firmware is posted or linked with a ROM there are no instructions on how to actually install it. I would really appreciate some help, I'm stuck on 1.19.605.22!
