Sent from my HTC One X using XDA

We have already seen many S-Off One X devices, its going from S-On to S-Off that is the current task.

So bought was probably accidentally or error by htc

i think you must contact xda member xmoo with youre info maybe you can help in getting s-off for all of us

Yes I have found in the noon break if I have more time

This video is from a chineese guy which s-off's ur phone in his store located in china....

I thought that was the sticker/screenprotector that comes on a new htc one x, did with my two anyways...Just showing it's a new phone I guess? Or maybe it isn't a sticker but sure looks like it

Guys please don't kill me for this question but what is the main difference between s on and s off? Is it the fact that you have to fastboot the kernel? Also, does Flash Image GUI app work with One X? I just got mine yesterday. On my other phones that Flash Image GUI works on, it takes maybe 10 seconds to flash a recovery or kernel img

When s-off u have to fastboot flash the kernel(any kernel) and recovery..
That's the difference in s-on and s-off..
Also remember to fastboot erase cache after flashing anything from fastboot otherwise u won't be able to get into recovery..

Main difference probably that you cant flash kernel from recovery, only fastboot. No need to use any app, it takes like 10seconds to type 1line in cmd

HTC eventually will do this or leak some method to soff after most of its devices are out of warranty period, I hope...
But, by that time most of those who need soff now would have switched/upgraded

[CDMA] ClockWorkMod Touch recovery

Hello guys,
i have look into the clockworkmod download page:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries
and found the touch version of ClockWorkMod for the CDMA Wildfire S:
http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.8-marvelc.img
Unhappily i have a "normal" Wildfire S and can not test, if it works. But if it works, maybe we can port this recovery to the Wildfire S?
Thanks for answers!
"Normal" Wildfire S
Sent from my HTC A510e using Tapatalk
Testing now. Will let you all know how it works, if it works.
Thanks. Nice find ONeill123.
Edit:
Flashed great in fastboot. Works great so far, as well.
Overall, buttons seem a bit large and it only uses half the screen. I believe this is so that it can still inform you whats happening in the lower half. (I'm correct. It tells you whats happening down there when I wiped cache)
It will actually log whats happening, where alquez's and official wouldn't. It also will fix permissions where alquez's wouldn't. (Official would, if I tried like 50 times.)
All buttons seem to work. Volume Up/Home=Up, Volume Down/Menu=Down. Back=Back. Power/Search=Select. You CAN scroll with your thumb.
As jmz has said, the touch recovery needs resized. But Koushik will absolutely not support touch recovery at the very least for our phone. (i believe it's all mdpi touch recoveries)
So, unless your planning on fixing/maintaining this, please don't post it.

This reminds me of iPhone Jailbreak-finding. Gotta find a hole, and if that hole is in a particular version, everyone will want to go to that version to then get S-Off.
In terms of what HBoot could have access to, is it theoretically possible it could improve the battery? Or, is this literally only the image for the bootloader, and would not touch anything else?

[Q] Rom?!

Sorry but ive got a pretty nooby question. If you want a rom like the Viper rom, Do you need to root youre device to use that ROM?

Welcome to XDA devs. You'll find that most of the development forums have "sticky" posts at the top that will explain not only the rules (you'll see one applies to you already) and standards, but also some helpful "noob" guides to get you started.
From your initial question (and follow-ups) it appears you're brand new to android. That's cool, we all were once. Do yourself a favor and do about an hour of reading--straight reading--before asking any more questions. This is not an insult, it will be much faster than asking, waiting for a response, then asking another question ad infinitum.
Finally, specifically to your question: most of what happens here on XDA devs requires unlocking your bootloader and rooting; if you're not comfortable with doing that, this probably won't be the best forum to you. Again, no offense intended. Your fears are well-founded: you could break your phone if you don't understand what you're doing. That said, I'm pretty much computer illiterate, but have had a great deal of success around here by just reading, reading, reading.... and then following directions in the posts (and there's many posts in which people give fantastic step-by-step directions.
So good luck, search the forums, read the forums, and ask questions once you've tried something and it's not working the way you expected. And have fun!

They're right, you don't need to root to flash a ROM. In fact, most if not all custom ROMs are pre-rooted. I'm suggesting you read first to understand what "root" really means; once you have the basics down, the idea of messing with your phone won't seem nearly as frightening.
BTW- another thing about XDA: click the "thanks" button in addition to saying thanks in your comment.
I ported one Viper rom. It was very laggy due to the overclock default of the rom with Screen off, and bulkyness in size.
You DONT need to root your device to use a rom, but you NEED to unlock the bootloader.
There goes your loophole.
So i have to unlock bootloader and recovery and thats it?

photos and music are stored in sdcard, which isn't wiped. therefore you won't lose them
Before you do ANYTHING try to update to newest playstore (its 4.10 i think, go google)
I had some slowdowns also because there was this GPS/Maps/Hangouts bug which came when Hangouts came.
It was giving some Maps/gps errors and crashes and seemed to get phone jerky at times.
Since i updated playstore i have no more errors and everything is back to normal
I'm having a pretty similar problem. My HOX gets extremly slow whenever I do more than one thing on the phone, like for example listening to music and writing messages on Whatsapp. A normal reboot doesn't really help, the only thing that helps for about a day is cleaning the cache, but i don't want to do that everyday. Is there any known problem that causes such performance problems?
Sometimes my HD2 running Android 4.2.2 is even faster in everyday ussage than my HOX. lol
A factory reset is required, it will help trust me
