Ascending ringtone solution - Bada Software and Hacking General

As we are all are aware that our wave phones when ring, the first ring is very low.
This sometimes causes problem if someone gives you a missed call. You do not come to know that a call have been received.
Would like to ask the developers here if there is any solution to get rid of first step and have loud ringtone from the very first bell.
thanks in advance.

anyone out there who can help.

I don't understand what you mean.
Do you find that the ring tone is low ?
You don't have missed call notifications ?
This problem is known on ICS like lock screen.

he meant that, when you have a call, the begining of the ringtone is very low.
try it. call to your wave and you will hear that the the ringtone is very low, and after second or two is loud.
and his question is if there is anyway to make it loud from the begining?
Hope you understand now

Correct

hello
send us whats ringtone you want and i can change or add a new ringtone with your sd card

It's not ringtone fault. It's bada 2.0 bug or "feature".
I can try to search it in call app, but I don't know if I find something.

the problem is not with the ringtone. the problem is in the software.
it doesn't matter which ringtone you will put, the problem will happen always.
we are searching for some developers who can tweak that.

Found solution. You must have bada integrity check disabled and uncompressed SO files.
You must modify file: Shp/CallCommonSvc.so
There's function called: CCallUtil::SetRingToneStep(void *)
In it is code: BLX j__ZN9CCallUtil29IsAcousticShockLevelAlertTypeEv
Just change it to "mov r0, 0"
In my soft: S8500XXLD2_S8500OXXLE1_VGF offset is 0x8728
Change "14 F0 46 EC" to "40 F2 00 00". Should work

Rsrc2_(xxx).rc2 analyze for S8500/S8530 and S8600

1.
Rsrc2_S8500(Low).rc2
Rsrc2_S8500(Mid).rc2
Differs in 1 Byte...
2.
This Byte enables Debug Mode, there are 3 Values (maybe more):
00 - OFF---> Internal menu not work--->Low
01 - On ----> Internal menu work -> MID
02 - then also Samsung DIAGnostic Port is activated and full Debug
Internal menu is this thingie here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906966
3.
There are several Boot Pictures included...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10624798&postcount=4
First short test is attached.
Not exact match...
First Goal is to change for instance Pictures.
Best Regards
how did you skip press "0" for 2 secs message?
10 bpp... maybe we can bring more color into it.
This Pic starts at 0x21000
00 is black
FF seems white... if someone only paint via HEX Editor.
Attached are 3 Original RC2 files and extracted RAW Pic...
Irfanview Settings are on Screenshot.
Best Regards
Edit 1.
The other Pic after this is Battery...
Edit 2.
Maybe 16 bpp
480 x 800 Pixel * 2 Byte (16 bpp) = 768000 Byte
My RAW files are too big. Need to cut few Bytes... sorry.
http://home.arcor.de/xgidesign/test/resman_ge_down.html
resMAN converts into correct 16 bpp Format.
It seems more features included, like TFS Browser... not tested yet.
Tested and works.
Now I have colorfull Bootscreen.
I have only identified 2 Pictures... Logo and Battery. Both 480 x 800 Pixel.
Best Regards
Can you upload one sample screen from yours colorfull Bootscreen?? thanks...
1.
As Example Cat taken from Wallpaper... resized and cut to fit 480 x 800 Pixel.
Insert via ResMAN...
Only Bootlogo changed...
2.
Disable MD5 Check at End of file...
3.
Changed Flag 0 to 1 at Start of file, to use Internal Menu:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906966
Now Code *#7092463*# is working.
Best Regards
... hello adfree watch the screen shot that you enclose ...
First Pic starts at:
0x21000
Bootlogo 480 x 800 Pixel
768000 Byte
Second Picture:
0xDC800
"Waitscreen" for Battery
480 x 800 Pixel
768000 Byte
Example attached... now with Cat and Flowers.
Questions...
1.
The other Pictures... which Resolution, where to find...
2.
At Start I see from T-Mobile String DEF...
chinese Firmware shows CHN...
Is this CSC settings? But nothing happens...
3.
What else is between 0 and 0x21000 ?
And 0x198000 - End of file ( I mean this as End CDABCDAB before String S8500)
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards
After I overwrote with FF for white color I found third Picture.
The blue handset known from Download Mode via Kies for instance...
Maybe something like that 100 x 250 Pixel...
I will try to find exact position and extract RAW. Now I know what it is...

Hi adfree,
How did you make step 2?
Disable MD5 Check at End of file...

I try rc2 low on resman.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10553753&postcount=40
Here you find answer about MD5 disable.
Best Regards
Thanks adfree, it's ok now I can use a modifyed rc2 file on multiloader.
But realy don't understand now how to modify boot image with resman
Can you try with this file and say me if it's possible to use please?
I convert it on bmp to use on resman.
Your Picture as RAW, ready to input.
Use HEX Editor.
Start is at:
0x21000
Resman can do the whole job for you, but I'm lazy... ehm busy now to write How To.
You need correct Rsrc2_S8500(Low).rxt...
I will try to make one next days... as my is not fully correct.
Best Regards
Ok thanks, if you can do a "how to" when you have the time, that would be great
The 3. Picture is the Download Mode Icon...
116 Pixel x 285 Pixel
The 4. Picture is if something goes wrong during Update... Errormessage...
176 Pixel x 80 Pixel
Need to check exact Resolution and Position... so I can make correct Rsrc2_S8500(Low).rxt for Resman.

Hi thank you for this tool but it is only for "qualcomm" platforms i think (not sure). In s8500 qualcomm is only processor for calls.
QuB is designed for Samsung handsets.
This command is 100 % working on S8500 and U700, tested by me.

No magic.
Then you have access to nvm folder, system folder and few more...
System folder is read only as it is the mounted RC1 file...

Really nice tool.
Setting FmSecureMode to off gives us the chance to see where everything is located and we can investigate and chang the files on the pc. now we need to find a way to get them back to the wave
Maybe with PfsDeleteList.txt / *.pfs ?
Also after reboot FmSecureMode is set to on again.
But we can already see where the fonts are located, that the sms viewer is html/css based like the one for email and any other messages (so we can easiely change layout, colors, font-size,...) and a lot of other things like replacing images etc.
When we get this working, nothing keeps us anymore from a fully customized bada
In combination of TkFileExplorer 2.4 you can see this.
Caution!
Renaming or other Directory Manipulation can lead to Bootcycle.
At your own risk.

How can we edit *.so file?

I found into shp folder *.so files and I want to ask if we can edit them

This leads to this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1294406
But we could investigate, if this or other files about language is in arabic S8600...

.so are equivalents to .dll libraries which you can find in Windows. They contain almost only machine code.
And you cannot edit them, because these are digitally signed, first you'd have to bypass integrity&sign check mechanisms.
Some one using Linux can try this program please?
http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/so
Not to edit, but if it was possible at least to read .so file?
you can see GCC compiler in SDK files....of course if you have it
"SDK Path"\Bada\2.X.X\Tools\Toolchains\ARM\arm-bada-eabi\bin\gcc.exe
You can see this in the readme file too
The executables in this directory are for internal use by the compiler
and may not operate correctly when used directly. This directory
should not be placed on your PATH. Instead, you should use the
executables in ../../bin/ and place that directory on your PATH.

So any ideas about a DEcompiler
This is just a compiler that make .so files....Maybe non-compressed ones only too
Best Regards
ML90 Did you try to see so file with SDK?
Because I never used it
There is nothing to see in there
You can use gce2elf plug-in for trix to decompress .so files from bada 2.0 and the files will be converted to elf files that were available in bada 1.2 FWs before
S8600 .so files can't be decompressed until now !
There is no way to compress files back yet !
As i say these files can contain pure code and no pics or any stuff like that as they are compiled from .O libraries files used by C/C++ apps
We need the real experts to come back and help us
Best Regards
Thanks for your answer.
Even if we got pure c++ code perhaps we should be able to see what for exemple setting.so file call on other file firmware... that was my idea
After I know we can not rebuild a file, but it's just to have some more infos that should be usefull?
After I know we can not rebuild a file...
Click to collapse
This is not 100 % correct...
*.so files are signed... So Security is main problem...
To modify or to rebuild is only problem of skills...
If "Android boys"... ...
See here:
*.so files are also known in Android world...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23559274&postcount=15
Android use folder lib with *so files...
Maybe good chance to find some source... if these files also open source...
But again.
Break first Security check, then you can modify *.so files... depend on your brain.
But at the moment Dead ends...
Smart skilled users on ""holiday""... or missing in action...
First "safe" attempt to remove Security Check:
apps_compressed.bin...
Compression Algo needed... as you have no full access in compressed BINary...
If Bootloader checks *.so files... maybe FOTA could help...
To break RSA 2048...
I hope few of our smart Devs come back to bada Hacking.
To search and find *.so sources in Android world is not useless...
Maybe it helps to better understand.

I'd rather recommend looking for the developer of the firmware to fix his own bug
The fix is easy
Know original CSC....get strings of that CSC
Compare Strings from original CSC with Modded ones
Find the bug and fix it
Place back new strings files via CSC flashing
Done !

I'd rather recommend looking for the developer of the firmware to fix his own bug
The fix is easy
Know original CSC....get strings of that CSC
Compare Strings from original CSC with Modded ones
Find the bug and fix it

I compared between the original String to my custom String and I did not find any differences in number of the lines.
But thank you anyway

A little up here.
I got the same problem with Turko v6 for S8530.
One other strange thing is that I can't delete my e-mail "basket". But no restart.
I will investigate a bit and send something if I find something.
I set debug level to high and I succeeded in deleting the "e-mail basket".
I got blue screen when trying to deleting messages
Seven. I took photos of them as much as I could as I was obliged to go 2 pages by 2.
By the way how to upload the content ? I found that I must press Home button during blue screen but which program should I use after entiring in upload mode ?
Rest is here
Sorry I had trouble with one I couldn't shot.
Simple Solution.
Just flash another firmware.

Yes but I don't want. It is not that grave since I have SD card.
For the moment I haven't the time to check problem if solvable without flashing another firmware.
