Can someone help me please? This app is cool but complicated. I want to know if there's a way to turn brightness off when I get home and fully on when I leave home. It should use NEAR right? Or location, but that uses GPS so battery drainage right.. Thank you.
I've had better success to use 'on wifi' and do my adjustments for when I'm home (sync, brightness, etc).
But that way you have to keep wifi on all the time. If you don't want to do that, the 'cell near' is fairly reliable.

Well I have the Y5 app for wifi when I'm at home. Just connect to wifi, and it remembers it perfectly any wifi you connect to. Better than tasker and simple.. But just would like the brightness on as I leave the house..

Suppose you could do wifi connected to $homessid then check the invert box.

But I don't use tasker for my auto wifi connect. I use Y5 app.. plus I don't know the steps to have the brightness work with tasker. Like I said, that app is complicated..

If i remember right, my wifi worked properly a few days ago.. but i cant remember exaclty. Help please? Thanks

Power cycle your router?
I've been having a different wifi issue. at home I have only edge coverage but I have petty good cable internet so obviously I want to use my wifi but for some reason the phone connects to wifi yet still uses the mobile network unless I turn off mobile data. My wifi sleep policy is set to never btw. Any ideas?

Edit
Also if I turn off mobile data while connected to wifi then turn it on while still connected it stays on wifi fine. Its like the mobile radio is preventing the wifi connection from fully initializing or something
Same issue!

I am having the same issue. I have to go into airplane mode, then turn on wifi to actually be able to use it... otherwise seems to default to mobile radio...
I have the same issue..this is what i do to work around it though:
1. Go to Settings>Wireless and Networks>Mobile Networks
2. Uncheck packet data, and then check it again.
Once i do this, my wifi works again, let me know if it works for you.

yes, does seem to work, but agree it's frustrating.... Hope they fix this soon.
Got this from the battery thread. This actually fixes the wifi issue on my SG2
The program is called Llama and can be downloaded from the market. I deleted all the default events and just added these 2. Hope this helps for all of you with this issue.

Try freezing "my account". It toggles data even with WiFi is on. Try it and let me know.

Actually saw this tread and had Llama installed with these 2 profiles added and was till getting this issue... Going to try Freezing My Account to see if that helps... I know it helped with my wifi issues on my G2x.
Update: Nothing seems to work now. Can't have Wifi and cell radio on at the same time... can get calls but nothing else...
I've seen it occasionally as well. I haven't needed to reboot though. It usually recovers after I toggle WiFi on and off and mess with some other things.

I notice the same issue and I also toggle wifi on and off to get it to work back again.

Same here. I have to toggle wifi on/off and sometimes reconnect through wifi settings to get it back.

Recently I have noticed that the wifi on my phone stops working randomly...even though it says it's connected. Usually I can solve this problem by rebooting; should I return the device?

Yes, either return or warranty exchange for a new one, I have not noticed this issue with my device at all.
I've been having the same issue and it definitely causes excessive battery drain. Sometimes toggling wifi off then on works. Other times it requires toggling mobile data off then on.
I had it happen just now and tried freezing 'my account' in titanium backup as suggested and my 4g indicator immediately turned off. Sweet! It seems that 'my account' is the culprit!
Edit: I really wish this topic wasn't merged...I think there were a couple 'wifi problem' threads talking about different issues. To clarify, my problem was that while on wifi my 4G indicator would sometimes turn on and consume more battery and (sometimes) force all data to use 4G instead of wifi. Really annoying!

[Q] WiFi not working properly? 3G/4G stays on
My mobile data doesn't always turn off when wifi is on. Any ideas?
same here ,dont know what that is
Bump.........
Is there a way to have wifi toggle on, on it's own just by entering a designated zone. lets say like home or work? basically stop using data and start using wifi as soon as you get home.
Just turn wifi on and then as soon as you get in range of the wifi it will connect automatically

Go to the market and d/l Y5 battery saver.
It remembers wifi you used and turns wifi on when you're near enough to make the connection, and off when you get out of range.
It's a FREE app. Works very well for me. I have used the app for over 5 years.
Good Luck!
Aloha

Try Wifi Toggle that works the best, as soon as you out of WIFI network i mean range it will turn off and when back in Range will turn on.
Automateit can do the job of turning on wifi when starting a specific app and turning it off when deactivating the app.
How does this work and how do you know your using wifi for calls??? Also does the wifi enabled calling message always in the notification pull down when activated??
It works great.....i use it at work and home and it helps cut battery drain. You will know you are useing wifi cause it will say in the call menu and there will be an icon in the status bar when you are connected to a wifi and wifi calling is working. I think it does.
So the icon on the left will always be there

There will be a icon during the call that shows that you are using wifi calling, should be the same icon as the one on the toggles. Depending on how fast the wifi network, it can work great, or suck. For instance I have slow Internet at the house with less than 500kbps, it won't work too well on there, whereas maybe 1+MBps will work fine. I use it at the wifi at my work, saves me from roaming even though it is included in the plan I have.

From what i can tell yes.
Yes... The icon will always be up to when wifi calling service is on.
Basically just turn it on and then it'll make you set your current location for 911 purposes. Then just save and you should be good to go. Every time you connect to that wifi it will automatically revert to wifi calling... as long as wifi calling is turned on.
It's fantastic. A must have for me in my apartment with my crappy Sprint signal
something ive been noticing is that i get alot of battery drain from wifi. most of it comes from searching for wifi and i leave it on because periodically throughout a day im in and out of my saved network's range. Id like it there was a setting or a system edit that would turn off the wifi after searching for 5 minutes and not finding one. i'm assuming the drainage is coming from the the MIMO technology or something. anyways, if you have something it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I am using Tasker for this, when I come home or office, mobile data switch off and wifi turns on
Do you need location on for this?

either that, or something else like bluetooth. but location is preferred. I use MacroDroid, a Tasker alternative with a much better UI, and i can set the location update cycle to 10 mins or so to prevent battery drain
Or you can use the cell tower near you option in tasker.
Location/GPS uses battery as well so make use of what is already being used for calls & sms

Search Tasker app for rooted phones, you can do unlimited settings with tasker. I have set my tasker to find cell tower near my home, when my phone receive signal from that tower then it make turn off mobile data and make turn on wifi and it knows that i reach home. same for work.
search in google `best tasker profiles` so you will see what i trying to explain
It's a feature of Android O
during the waiting, Tasker is the best app (and you don't need root to do this)

u can use this app and save your preferred time settings on startup and u r good to go . . iam using it from a very long time it saves more battery . and can set wifi off once when u lock the phone also . u can set wifi hotspot connectivity timings also. u have settings that can change network to 2g when using WiFi (this saves u much battery drain from frequent network change). please view the full settings from the options in app. it has both root (required for only toggling networks)and non -root capability . please turnoff battery optimization for this app otherwise it wont work.. this app wont consume that much battery considering excessive battery drain due to frequent wifi search.
